Poor Cora, she just had a book written about her but her thread is almost dead. I wasn't much of a Cora fan but changed my mind after reading the book. Now I'm going to play my first Cora-mancing Ryder. Already started it but I can't wait to be able to get back into the CC since my Ryder kind of looks like "the hot felon" guy and that wasn't the look I was going for. Now you're properly playing a male-ryder.

I've heard good things about it. I guess I'll have to read it. Hell, supporting these novels might, at this point, be all that's allowing ME from having any sort of future existence.

Recently installed a Concept Art Inspired Cora mod because while she does go on a bit (asari huntress, we get it), mostly what I was bumping up against was the visual character design. It has made this latest play through a lot of fun and I find myself including Cora in the team more often. It has given me a new appreciation for the character. Jaal also got a mod to deal with the bright pink problem, so it wasn't just poor old Cora that suffers from this for me.

What's this about Cora and a book? First time I'm hearing of this. I might have to google this.
And an unpopular opinion, but I think Cora is my favorite character in MEA. Drack is great too, but I really like Cora's banter on the Nomad. She is so laid back, nice, and gets along with everyone. It makes her super likable. I know she gets flak for talking too much about Asari, but she does drop it after her loyalty mission. And she even regrets looking up to them so much during Nomad banters. She gets a lot of hate for being a boring human when I think she is one of the better ones.
And while her romance isn't brilliant, I liked it. There is just enough good to decent moments to make it solid. And there are several instances where you can tell she really cares about you. That's all I can ask really.

I'm about a little half-way through the book (I got it a while back but I get super distracted reading prose nowadays for some stupid reason) but it is pretty good. I liked Cora before, so it's more just putting a stronger light on some stuff like her childhood and her time with the commandos. If anything, it actually does a lot more with the character of SAM so far. Speaking of, here's some incredible fan-art based on a scene in the book: (Source)

Funny, almost every ME2 companion went on and on about their character issue(s), but no one gave them flak about it. Yes, Samara. You're a Justicar. I get it.

I like Cora. Yes, she goes on too much about the whole Asari thing, yet the kicker is her being unintentionally pushed off-course by her deceased mentor (Daddy Ryder) and putting you as Pathfinder over her. That, to me, is the actual story, not just "I was a Huntress, Asari, Asari, Asari, Asari, Asari, Asari, Asari, Asari, Asari, Asari". She's going through that conflict as well as being in a position of not having a boss around to give her soldiery orders. On top of that, one of her heroes turns out to have made a not-too-heroic decision and that throws in another confusing wrench. In short, in this new galaxy, all her familiarity is being shot to shit and she has to figure it all out in a heap.
By comparison, characters like Liam are so straightforward and generic - unhelped by his party-banter being obnoxious and rude despite his predictable nice-guy-on-the-ship drivel. Cora, on the other hand, gets on with (almost) the entire crew and has nice banter, with amusing moments as well as serious. She's a good blend - her downfall is she's a 'boring human' in a game centered on exploring the unknown that happens to be full of colourful aliens. It was no different in the Trilogy.
Didn't know there was also books in the mix, but I wager it just adds more fuel to the simmer that is Cora. She's basically my 3rd favourite of the companions. If there were more than two slots, I'd use her more often - she has amusing/solid banter with everyone else and only has issues with one in particular, whereas Liam seems to have issues with everyone out of the blue like a derp-child.

I just finished reading the book and damn and she is very likeable, best romance in Andromeda for sure. . The amount of references in that book tho, really enjoyable for a long time fan. Anyone else got sad about SAM-E ? ;_; 😝

Anyone else got sad about SAM-E ? ;_; 😝 The book adds a bit of a spin to the romance, in the sense of how much SAM may be influencing Ryder's interest in Cora. Cora is one of my favorite ME characters probably because she is a blend of my two other favorites Ashley(ME1) and Miranda(ME2&3). My one wish is she had some banter dressing down Liam, and Peebee for their stupid stunts during their loyalty missions and endangering the Pathfinder. I really wanted to drop them both on their heads at the Nexus and leave them there after the loyalty missions. As it is Cora always accompanys my Ryder with either Jaal, Drack or Vetra while Peebee and Liam are confined to the Tempest.

I got to say
I usually go for the Asari Romance in my ME games but...I liked Cora so much more than peebee.
It fulfills my preferences much much more thoroughly.

I’m replaying it again and I’m liking her more this time and I’m actively disliking drak. Who you pair people up with has a big effect. Party banter tells you more than actual conversations sometimes . This time around drak is just a whiny bitch. Salarian, salarian, salarian. Dude shut up. Your people tried to murder everyone in the galaxy you got off lite. Cora as long as she isn’t with peebee is actually decent. I didn’t use her for games 2-now because game 1 she was teamed with peebee a lot and I came to hate her. Now I only roll peebee out for remnant focused missions. Still not a huge fan of Cora for gameplay reasons. She keeps detonating my primed targets with her lame charge instead of them getting hit with my adept based chain explosions.

Actually I'm with you on Drack. I finished a second playthrough of the game a few weeks after that comment. And Drack was kind of unremarkable this time. His jokes were not as funny as I remembered and his shtick of old fossil got... well old. I think I remember liking him with Cora and Vetra sa far as banter goes. I think he dislikes Liam at tht start, but I don't blame him there. He is actually too much like Wrex but not as interesting and he is very passive aggressivewhen it comes to his scouts as well. I don't know how far you got with Cora and Peebee, but I think if you keep using them, they do come to an understanding and such. But outside of Liam, Cora is pretty cool with everyone. And with Liam it comes off as more being confused by his idiotic antics on the Nomad. As far as squadmates go, I actually think everyone sucks because the way the combat has been made. Its so streamlined and you do not have fully control of your party when you need it. Cora is the first Vanguard party member in the series if I remember right.

You can respec her to remove charge from her abilities list. I removed Jaal and Liam's charge-like abilities also because they kept getting downed on the far side of a firefight.
I agree that Cora is the best to take in the Nomad. She's interested in others instead of talking about herself all the time and gets along with pretty much everyone.
