Finished "Turncoat" it was a bit of a mixed bag for me but still very enjoyable and I also rad the short story that goes after it "Love Hurts" which was OK.
Now on to Changes.

From the opening chapter I was already strapping in for what I could see would be a wild ride. Going to kind of miss Morgan TBH. Does Molly play a bigger part in this book? I liked Love Hurts but was very disappointed it didn't result in Murphy and Harry getting together having been strung along for 11 books.

From the opening chapter I was already strapping in for what I could see would be a wild ride. Going to kind of miss Morgan TBH. There's a reason this book doesn't follow the usual pattern for the titles I will say that Changes marks roughly the midpoint of the series. Butcher has recently said there will be a total of about 22 "Case File" books followed by a "Big Apocalyptic Trilogy" She plays a decently big role. Bigger in the two following it though. Maker, if you knew what was coming...

The Great Extermination has begun.
In the Capitol, Grand Inquisitor Omand Vokkan hatches a plot to kill every member of the untouchable caste in all of Lok, down to the last man, woman, and child. As a member of the Order of Inquisition, Vokkan has no official say in the creation of Law, but he has powerful allies willing to do his bidding. Through them, he has convinced the Judges that the genocide will be swift, complete, and without complication. Nothing is further from the truth.
Lord Protector Devedas has sworn to uphold the Law. Once, he and the traitor Ashok Vadal had been like brothers. Now, he hunts Vadal and the Sons of the Black Sword, heretics and rebels who seek to live outside the rule of the Law. All Devedas must do is find and kill his best friend and order will be restored to Lok.
The rebels seek the secret kingdom spoken of by the Prophet Thera, a paradise where water is pure and food plentiful, where there are no castes, where the people rule themselves, and are not slaves to the Capitol. Ashok Vadal is not sure he believes in such a paradise, but he—along with his allies—do seek refuge in the rebellion’s hideout in Akershan. But Vadal, a former High Protector who has turned his back on the corrupt Law, will not merely wait meekly, hoping that fleeing to Akershan will spare the rebellion from the clutches of the Great Extermination. No, if it’s a war the Capitol wants, Vadal, who has faced down gods and demons, will be all too willing to give it to them.

I just read Olympia by Volker Kutscher. It's a German crime novel series, which is set in Berlin in the late 20th to mid 30th. Main protagonists are the policeman Gereon Rath and Charlotte Ritter, who was one of the first woman working with the police. Olympia is the 8th novel, in which Gereon has to investigate a murder during the Olympic games in Berlin 1936. He has a high ranking Nazi as an enemy, which makes things more difficult. I can only recommend the Gereon Rath novels, I think you get them in English too. They paint very good picture of Berlin in the late Weimarer Republic and the beginning of the Nazi regime with great characters and interesting plots.

Love it! How is it so far, comparable to his other books?
Spoilers up to Oathbringer for anyone that hasn't read that far. IIRC the viewpoint character this time round is Eshonai? Can't remember, been a while since I saw the list he planned out for all the viewpoint characters per book. I figure that must be rather interestingly done given where we see her last. I have it but haven't started yet. Gotta be in a specific frame of mind to read one of his tomes. Lately been enjoying watching a WH2 livestreamer and a Let's Play of Borderlands 3.

Finished the first part and it's definitely on the same level as the other books. My only "complaint" is that you really need to have read the other books to get into the atmosphere from the start. And I won't spoil it any further, 'cause it's really worth reading...

After I finished Olympia I turned to horror fiction - it's a story by a German author (again) called Marc Meller. The book is called Raum der Angst, which basically translates into room of fear. It's about a bunch of people who become unwilling participants in a sick escape room experiment with deadly consequences. It's not the most original story, but it has some interesting characters and the plot seems to have more aboit it than meet the eyes.
I'm in the mood for good old horror atm. It's that time of year, I always read horror and fantasy in winter.

So, I'm at the very end of Way of Kings (Stormlight archieve, Book 1 ) and I have to say, I love it! What really helps the book is its relatively big number of pages, the author really has time to make detailed explanations which help with the visualizing process in my brain, making the experience a lot more interesting. As for the characters, they are nicely fleshed out and some of the conversations are really enjoyable with the authors choice of words and dynamic. And the story twists, some of them I did not anticipate at all, and the last one really had me on the edge of my seat which, for me, is a very rare thing! I'm really looking forward to book 2.

Yea, it really impressed me, giving me the "Oh, great reading experiences are still to be had"-feeling. The WOW was sort of similar to when I read books I was too young to read, when I was a kid. (One thing I'm grateful for to my father, is he brought me to the library every Saturday). IMO, it's easily Sanderson's best work. So much so, that together with his productivity, it raises the question: Who are those who are really writing the others? You're in luck. There are three more thick volumes out, in these dark and dreary times. But don't forget to take a walk now and then.

I am reading a few different things;
"Mass Effect Andromeda: Nexus Uprising". I finally got around to start on these. "Sult" ("Hunger" in english) by Knut Hamsun (school related) A novella collection by norwegian author Tarjei Vesaas (also school related) Oh, and also a comic book by the Oatmeal. "Why grizzly bears should wear underpants" I think.
