Read that last year. Quite enjoyable. Have you just read the first one or the series? Just the first one, so far. I’ll check out the second at some point, though. It may have been the only book available in the series when I finished it…. Looks like book 2 was only published last year and the third isn’t finished yet.

Just finished Tiamat's Wrath (Expanse book 8), now a month+ long wait for Leviathan Falls. I really fucked the timing there, had been shooting to finish the series by the time the new dropped (or was originally scheduled to drop at least).
Guess I'm going to read the Expanse novellas now, though I haven't decided for certain yet.

read a few of the Expanse novellas, needed something more substantive so giving the Divine Cities trilogy a shot: first up, City of Stairs.

I am currently re-reading The Expanse books 7 and 8 in preparation for book 9 coming out Nov 30th. I sort of botched the timing of my re-read (was trying to get it to line up with the new release), but after reading book 8 I'm soooooooooo fucking ready for book 9, this shit's gonna be EPIC

I will re-read book 8 a bit closer to the 30th of November then also looking forward to doing a replay of the TV series leading up to 10/12/21 when season 6 is released. Does anyone think someone will pick up the final 3 books to make a TV show or movies?

Reading some interviews with the show runners, I get the feeling they may want to pick it back up after a break. I could also imagine 2-3 movies for books 7-9. We’ll see… I also want to go through seasons 1-5 before I start 6 but I want to finish book 9 first. So much Expanse, so little time. Ah well, it’s a good problem to have.

I normally watch the whole series again before the new one but I am not sure I'll the time this time around, who knows might just have to bully the family off the television for a couple of weeks.

I've finally got around to starting the One Piece manga. I've blazed through about 400+ chapters in the last few weeks. As you could imagine I'm enjoying it quite a bit. The characters, the camaraderie, the friendship, its just a feel good time. My biggest gripe would be some occasional pacing issues, plot arc's can drag at points, though I can acknowledge that this is probably a necessary evil to give each character there due. Certain arc's handle this better than others.

so the Divine Cities book 1 wasn't really grabbing me, so I was looking for something else and ended up reading the Broken Empires book 1, Prince of Thorns (Mark Lawrence). And that was... uh... interesting. Now starting on book 2, King of Thorns.

You've moved on to the sequel, so I guess it is safe to assume you found something worthwhile in it?

So started a new fantasy by returning to n old favourite author in Raymond E. Feist. Loving it so far, great to be reading an author whose writing style is good and the characters and story are engaging from the get go. So finished King of Ashes and enjoyed it enough to immediately download the second book "Queen of Storms". I enjoyed the building of what I hope will be a solid world base base and an intriguing political landscape between the various regional/religious groups and also a solid core group of characters that at this stage is not overwhelming in numbers. My only problem is a lot of it all feels very familiar to a lot of other Feist books. Anyway it was a very good read and have already read 20% of the sequel.

I really tried getting in to Prince of Thorns some years back. Don't think I even made it halfway. You've moved on to the sequel, so I guess it is safe to assume you found something worthwhile in it? Yeah I found it a fast and easy read. Not a lot of exposition, quick/quippy dialogue, lots of action. Interesting premise/setting (which is a bit of a spoiler so I won't say any more). Taking the anti-hero bit to the logical extreme was also sort of novel and fun (at times, at any rate). I'm finding the second one a bit slower going and less enjoyable, I'm about 20% in and still yet to really ramp up the plot/story, so the jury is still out on that one or the series as a whole.

I'm usually not this big of a flake, but I've moved on yet again: King of Thorns was really dragging, and my friend has been bugging me to read Liu Cixin's Three-Body Problem for a long time now, and I saw that I can get it for free right now with Kindle Unlimited. So, The Three-Body Problem. I'm actually pretty excited for this one.

A friend condemned me to reading The Adventure Zone graphic novels. I don't like them. They're too silly for my taste, the constant 4th wall breaking is annoying and I don't like the artstyle. Buuut... I gave my word I'd read them because she loves them so much. I'm on the third one with one more to go. God help me.

Maybe the worst novel I have ever read, lol. Viktor Frankenstein is the most insufferable whiny coward ever invented... I had to force myself to keep reading. What a terrible unlikeable main character. The story is ludicrous. And I don't mean the monster itself. How Viktor reacts to it is so hilariously bad, I kept shaking my head. Like, right after creating his monster he is horrified - but then goes to sleep. And then the monster is gone. LOL, wtf?!? He gets everyone he cares about killed because he's that stupid and full of self pity. So pathetic. And then the idiot doesn't even manage to kill the poor monster in the end. He just dies of exhaustion and begs somebody else to do it for him. LMAO. What is this rubbish?!? Extremely poorly written. What a disappointment! At least now I have appreciation for everyone who's ever tried to make a good adaption of this godawful source material...

Not sure when the next one comes out. Started book 8 of The Expanse as a prelude to book 9 coming out at the end of the month. I'ts weird to start it anew after such a long break and having not read the books before a for a long while. Think I might take a day or two before I restart it to give my brain a break from the completely different worlds of Sci -Fi and fantasy.

I just finished this Biography. To anyone that is not into chess at all the name is probably meaningless. To anyone that is sort of into chess you have probably heard the name. To anyone that is really into chess you know the name well for sure. Some think of Morphy as the best chess player who ever lived if you consider the time periods.

That was on my list of 'classics' to read but I'll stick it further own the list. 19th century literature is just loaded with the type of protagonists you describe.

Well there is hope he wont kill 99% of the characters in a second or third trilogy as it says on his web page he has no plans after finishing this trilogy but that doesn't mean he wont. Thanks for the info.
