No one seems to have mentioned it yet, but I can't be the only one who notice the heat hazard on one of the planets. Nice little nod to ME1. I'm still holding out hope that there will be some kind of tactical pause function, even though they said that the power wheel is (very disappointingly) gone. They shown what the pause looks like in the game. You can use it to switch powers and type of ammo (like disruptor). I'm interested in what they meant with squadmate being 'controllable'. You could use it to change weapons and use ammo types (now apparently consumables) but not powers. In the trilogy they had both weapon and power wheels - apparently not in Andromeda. :/

I think nobody has mentioned it because the Game Informer articles talked about it a couple times, specifically that planet as well as a few other hazards. I'm glad they are making it so environmental hazards are an actual threat. They did it in ME1 like you said, but after that only Haestrom in ME2 had it and ME3 just had it in a few multiplayer maps. Hopefully our companions are actually properly suited up this time like ME1 rather than like ME2 and lesser extent ME3. Eh, sadly I think it'll be up to the players at best. Which I'm fine with. Having the choice ourselves to put the squad in full suited armour is better then the alternative of ME2.

About powers, if it'll turn out we can map only three, is it possible we can swap them during missions?

I love pretty much everything I've seen so far but I'm gonna miss my power wheel. Not sure why they would take away such an iconic ME mechanic when it was always optional anyway.

So I've changed my mind, I am optimistic about it

Just because they edited the gameplay video doesn't mean that combat can't be fast paced. And by the way you do that a lot. *´¨)¸.•´¸.•*´¨) ¸.•*¨)(¸.•´ (¸.•` ¤ Mass Effect Andromeda
I anticipate movement in open areas but you must admit that the combat sequences in the video is NOT typical. Therefore it conveys a different player experience than what we will get in the game. IMO, the simplest explanation is that the studio wanted to show off the different weapons, biotics, offense, defense and some enemy types. A 5min video does present some challenges. From tweets I read, I get the impression Bio was behind schedule and did a "rush" job of it. Chalk it up to the Law of Unintended Consequences. In some areas, I have a vivid imagination. I am not compatible in that spoiler free safe zone and avoid it like the plague. Here, I can express possibilities. Some of them actual come true. And that, I see as fun.

Sorry if I missed it, there have been some 4,000 posts in the last 24 hours... From what we can tell, is there a consensus of who the top two icons relate to, from the footage? It may require CSI:BSN because we know BioWare were deliberately editing companions out of the combat footage

Liam seems the reasonable choice, given he appeared in the combat parts as well. I'd like if he has some kind of googles/glasses.

Not final, I guess, was about the icons that might change later on, but considering their function is to represent the character, I doubt the googles won't be present. Unless we're mistaking him for a new alien and those are his eyes About the video, another thing to point out, with the different melee weapons, and the devs saying they're not skill, is that it's semi confirmed we can decide ourselves which melee weapon equip.

So, it's not really related to the video, but I'm not sure where could I ask this, and since we're talking about companions ... Do we know if companions can have anypower too, or is this something specific of Ryder? Are we going to be able to spec them in whatever way we want?

I think they said companions follow conventional classes, and only our PC can be freely spec'd. It's a Pathfinder thing, apparently.

They confirmed only Ryder has access to every ability. The others fall along the traditional ME classes.

RE: Cora's icon
On the left side (right side of her hair) is a slight gap. Previously, I thought that was to indicate her hair as realistic, messy, or loose. But, it could also indicate that her hair will have a streak in it or one of those feathers.
