That silly accurate leak from way back stated we'll have 7 guys. 5 are already confirmed. An Andromeda alien sidekick has yet to be confirmed, but I'd be very surprised for obvious reason if Bioware didn't make one.
This leaves one free spot on the roster left.
1) Drack Krogan
2) Vetra Turian
3) PeeWee Asari
4) Liam Human
5) Cora Human
6) Andromedan
7) ?
Who do you expect it to be?
I used to think a Salarian sidekick was guaranteed but hearing about one piloting our ship has changed my mind. Our previous pilot played a big role in the trilogy despite staying out of combat. Salarian fans will be getting love imo.
Will our final guy be a second Andromedan? A super badAZZ STG trained Drell? A Salarian?

The more I look at everything, the more likely our synthetic is a piece of Androma hardware.
1) At the time of our departure AI's aren't exactly trusted
2) If we brought a piece of hardware along, it should have been with us from the very beginning. No footage of a synthetic sidekick yet. I think we'll find our Androma synthetic.
That leaves the final spot for an Organic Andromedan or a MWG member. Ideas for the latter STG Salarian. Major Kirrahe and Jondum Bau were quite popular. This way we get more combat oriented Salarian to break away from the tech nerd scientist Mordin

In the gameplay trailer Ryder talks to an unseen character called Sam who has a emotionless/robotic voice. Seems like it might be VI who compiles and relays information to Ryder. That's probably the 'synthetic sidekick' which does not necessarily mean companion.

So the question to me is if we are getting 6 or 7 squaddies and was the cut squaddie before or after we got that number?
It's either 6 squaddies (my gut would be the synthetic being cut and the 6th being an Andromedan), 7 squaddies with both a synthetic and an Andromedan, or 7 squaddies with an Andromedan and a yet to be revealed MWG species.

Good thing is - if vanilla ME:A has 6 squadmates, then they can focus on providing interesting background/personalities for them. |

Assuming we only have 7 as per the leak.
The final one will be a Synthetic or Milky Way Organic.
Here's to a Drell. The species Bioware did the least with in the trilogy.
Other realistic options are a Salarian or Quarian.

Two Andromedan. One is PlayDooh new race, the other is a Kett prisioner.
The PlayDohdude is all chill except with the Kett since Kett are the biggest enemy of PlayDohrace.
The Kett hates everyone (ala Javik), especially PlayDohDude because of Andromeda's politics.
If you don't romance any of them, they make out.
