Some are clinging to the Reddit-leak discussing 7 squadmates,
but there is also the talk from BioWare that one squadmate was cut.

I was pretty sure we'd only be getting six- but the wording of one of the recent pieces on their site implied that there would be more. The fact that they still haven't specified the number of squadmates, even though Jaal has virtually been revealed as one, makes me think that there may be a seventh one after all.

As for exactly what they could be, I'm not sure. A Milky Way alien seems unlikely, since most have been covered. Even if the Quarians are in, which I'm increasingly doubting, I don't think they would wait this late to reveal one as a squadmate. My guess is either a female Kett or some remnant machine that they want to keep hidden for plot reasons. Assuming that there is a seventh at all.

More and more I am getting the day-one DLC vibes again.
We get 6 or 7 at launch and then get one more in DLC... Javik crap all over again.
At least as far as I know that has not been nuked yet.

I'm still super gutted to read that the cut squaddie was a salarian (provided that this article is correct). I'm kind of baffled about that. The only other salarian was Mordin, so if the rumor is to be trusted, part of the reason why this character was cut was because of similarity to a past squaddie. While I know that it doesn't have to be salarian to salarian, I would think that a salarian who is anything BUT a scientist would be seen as unique enough.

Either way, now I really hope that this character gets the Javik treatment because I've been desperate for another salarian for years!

This has got me thinking -- The original leak mentioned a synthetic squaddie. I had assumed that this was the cut squaddie since we've already had two AI's in the series. But, if the cut squaddie is actually a salarian, then the synthetic might still be in, right? Unless there are two cut squaddies. I'm intrigued again!

I wouldn't mind - a Remnant AI with a mobile plattform (unlike EDI who was streaming herself to control the bot) would be cool, but then again:

I want a Quarian - female preferably, one who's more critical of the Migrant Fleet and Quarian politics and social norms (really? No true personal quarters? Damned! Murderer get away with exile instead of being put to death or locked up? That's not ok etc.)...hell, maybe even an EXILE (or somebody who didn't go back when leaving for the pilgrimmage!) oh and I want that character to be either a tech/biotic mix or a pure biotic (a Quarian who isn't all that into tech might be interesting as well! On the other hand: Maintaining your suit etc. will make you learn tech stuff...)

Would like another Andromedan native tbh. I'm hoping we'll see more of them in general because surely it can't be just the Angarans and Kett.

I realize who to include or not to include is about fan service, but when you think about it, it's rather pathetic that the AI could only manage to recruit 5 worthy (including the leader) of being on the Pathfinder team out of the sum 20,000 humans brought to Andromeda.  Now that I think about it definitely not run by Cerberus.  Nevermind why would the nonhumans care about helping the humans find a permanent settlement over their own species.

If I were going to carry a nonhuman it would have been a Batarian.  I liked the adversarial relationship between Batarians and humans and how most Batarians refused to kiss Shep's ass in the original trilogy.

Ugh, Batarians look like someone did face swap with their ugly dog on snapchat.  I like the history and personalities of Batarians but their design is pretty bad. 

If they ever include another quarian or drell as a squadmate, I hope they gay.
