Currently replaying KOTOR-1 ...It hasn't aged well, still fun though. Agreed. The combat is a blast, but the animations are very simpleBack then they had to have it go fade to black just for two characters to kiss since the animation looked terrible.

The combat is a blast, but the animations are very simple I was actually pleasantly surprised how crisp the graphics are on the Xbone (Yes, I finally caved and got one... mostly for ELITE: Dangerous) Sucks about the re-boot 1st person kickstarter version, seems to have been abandoned Kickstarter KOTOR reboot? If so, it was probably illegal to get funding for it, This one is still going though twitter.com/apeiron_kotor

It ran on a heavily modded aurora engine (Neverwinter Nights) so the animations were never going to be anything outstanding. Still I've always played Bioware games more for the story than anything else.

^ Yeah, I've been dropping in a few times each week to watch the work in progress on Twitch. It looks good. I just hope they don't get pull when they've done so much already.

I wish both Kotor games would be remade on a modern game engine. Even though I've become a graphics snob over the years, the dated Kotor games are still playable to me. Played them both last year after a couple years hiatus.

Here is a video about the dangers (and benefits) of nostalgia in not only Star Wars but for all media.
Also I have finally seen Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi and IMHO it is quite simply the BEST live action Star Wars movie to date and that is all I have to say about that.

What does that say for Disney? Who is obsessed in recreating rebels vs empire? Bad writing and OOC moments have dragged TLJ down to me not because of "nostalgia"

Honestly I suppose, as someone who has not seen the video, I think nostalgia is something that is just fine as long as we do not get attached to a certain idea. Whatever that idea is. There has been a lot of changing things in a lot of franchises these days and the changes have been taken pretty negatively by most of the fan bases whether its Thrones, Trek, Doctor Who, Star Wars, etc. Though I am not exactly thrilled by the direction Who is taking but that is a debate for another thread... As far as Star Wars is concerned these actors are getting old and, they are dying off...literally...naturally. Star Wars has to adapt grow and move on or eventually there will stop being Star Wars, which is a perfectly valid thing to want, but clearly Disney wants to continue the franchise.

Or adding in new characters that make a mockery of the franchise and/or the plot at hand. I'm looking at you, Rose.

It was really one of only two ways they could have gone about it, and the EU pretty much handled the other way, and the fanbse was already complaining about the Force Awakens borrowing too much from ANH so clearly they wanted to go into a different direction. As I have said I think the connective tissue between point A and B wasn't as strong as it could have been but I do overall approve of the direction they went in because, well people have flaws, we rise, we fall, we rise again and Luke's story is a powerful example of that.
