... That's why Palpatine had such a hard on for death stars, he was barely able to maintain his rule by strength alone so he attempted to rule by fear. ... Well I can understand why. Palpatine went from scarred beloved Senator fighting for peace against a treasonous Jedi "cult" at the end of Revenge of the Sith, to out and out sneering Sith wizard guy in front of his imperial troops in Return of the Jedi. The leaks to the press must have been prodigious, "Uncovered: Alderaan Destroyed by Secret Weapon!", along with the Imperial Press Secretary's claims of "Fake News!"

Seems Solo box office is struggling comparatively (a little better than half Rogue One's opening). Comparatively, because it's Ron Howard's highest ever opening, a director whose work I adore. Funny, because it's an enjoyable film, I was entertained; certainly not the series' weakest entry. IMDb 7.2 vs Rogue One 7.3. So on paper, there's no reason why this movie shouldn't be doing equally well. If you are a 'Star Wars fan' that has stayed away, what's your thinking? Or are you seeing it later? Only if I really have nothing else to do and it comes out on DVD. It has no pull for me, Rogue One was initially similar for me, but Mads Mikkelsen being in it made me want to see it. No such thing with this one, top that off with even if I was to ignore all the Disney stuff and the direction they've been taking things, Han Solo was never among my favorite characters. If it was a movie about Obi-Wan Kenobi I'd very likely check it out on the first week or two of it being in theaters, especially if Ewan McGregor was in it.

Probably some no named planet that had to be put in their place for now falling in line with the Empire. Prior to the Disneyfication of Star wars it was at least semi-canon that even during the height of the rebellion only a fraction of the Empire's might was directed against it. Yeah, in Episodes 5 and 6 you only actually see one Imperial Armada. Death Squadron, Lord Vader's Fleet.

Panaka was an imperial Moff in the old EU canon, as well. I always imagined Naboo to be an Imperial loyalist planet, so this never bothered me. Panaka always seemed very antagonistic towards the Jedi, so I'm willing to bet that he'd be the type to believe Palpatine's propaganda about their 'treason'.

No wonder the galactic systems are turning on them. Everyone is probably just watching the news feeds declaring "Lord Vader's Death Squadron" going "I'm paying for WHAT!!!???" *Types in google search for "freedom" synonyms* "Independence Star" and "Sovereignty Squadron"... Fixed! Empire lasts for a 1000 years.

It would've been an interesting idea to explore, had the EU still been around: the Empire's propaganda machine. Palpatine, Vader and Tarkin were still only three dudes. I'm sure they would've been some Moffs and other imperial higher-ups that would've tried a more subtle approach to ruling. And besides, if you really want to get people to hate the Empire you need more of these:

The reason I'm not going to see it is quite simple: I have no interest in seeing the story behind Han Solo. When rumors of this movie's existence first started circulating a few years ago, I thought it was a joke and that Disney wouldn't be so stupid to invest in something that nobody was asking for, while ignoring the things that people were interested in seeing. If I do wind up watching it, it'll be when it inevitably gets added to Netflix in a few months and I have nothing better to do (which is the same way I saw Rogue One).

I'll admit I found the premise of Rogue One much more interesting conceptually. Solo struck me as an excuse to explain away the bloopers in the original trilogy. (though I did enjoy it)
As a 'side movie,' I'd expect fewer people to see it, Rogue One was probably more successful than I thought it would be.

According to what I could find there was the Executor, a couple battlecruisers, 30 Imperial-class Star Destroyers, a few Tector-class Star Destroyers, and an unknown number of Interdictor vessels that made up the large ship fleet of the Empire during the battle, as well as all the smaller ships like the various TIEs that the ships and Death Star had with them.

Is there a decent explanation as to why the romance dialog between Padme and Anakin in Attack of the Clones is just SO BAD? I tend to work with the fact that Anakin is basically a celibate 16/18yr old monk, it is really no surprise he has zero game, if anything Anakin suddenly being Mr Smooth would be strange. Padme is harder to give a pass to, but she also has had a limited childhood/social development, which explains why she even falls for him and her dialogue isn't quite the mess his is (she does after all speak for a living). Most of the awkwardness/creep factor comes for Anakin I think (its been about a year since I last watch AotC)
