That's a valid point. The helmet thing doesn't breach the Resol'nare, but instead seems to be an extreme take on it. Anyway, I had a thought, and what if the motivation is that... it was Yoda who saved him during the Clone Wars? I had no idea there was so much knowledge and fascination about Mandalorian culture. You sound pretty into it. Where did that come from? Until recently I only knew about them from the Kotor games. Afaicr two sources about Mandalorian culture remain canon: SW Clone Wars and SW Rebels. But there are extensive descriptions in the EU.

In the EU, yeah, just read up whatever on Mandalorians you can find on the Wookiepedia.
Also, mandoa.org... After all, speaking the language is part of the Resol'nare.

Riiight. Can you give me an example of a movie where simple mook can just shoot and kill a main character, except when it is needed for the plot? I'm not talking about them killing main characters, I'm talking about them at least feeling like they could kill them. Blaster fire striking close to the characters' heads, making them flinch and duck away to avoid, you know, dying. Allies out of cover getting mercilessly gunned down. Glancing shots that cause pain and slow the heroes down. Flanking maneuvers to flush the heroes out of cover and keep up the pressure instead of letting them have whole conversations while uselessly firing at empty air. Most importantly, heroes not standing upright in the wide open while enemies are pouring fire on them without anybody getting hurt whatsoever. Everyone in that speeder should be on their knees trying to take cover behind its frame such as it is while Poe awkwardly handles the controls because they're goddamn sitting ducks. That's how you make main characters' opposition feel worth taking seriously. It's basic cinematography. The heroes don't actually treat the enemies like they're a real danger, and they aren't punished for that in the slightest, so the audience doesn't feel like they're a real danger either, and there's no tension. Just loud music and pretty lights flying everywhere. Again, this is one of my least favorite things about Star Wars, and one of the things the prequels did much better and I had hoped we were beyond until the sequels brought it back. I was looking for the storm trooper in red wielding a flamethrower-guitar...

Doesn't matter Boba and Jango identify as Mandalorian, and their preferred pronoun is Mandalore.

That makes 1 of us What in the actual fuck is with her teeth?!? She looks like a monster She's on an American celebrity talk-show. What did you expect, for her to look and act natural? I like her too. Rey isn't handled particularly well in the story, but I never thought Daisy Ridley wasn't doing her job making the character feel human and likable from scene to scene. Those moments of her looking at departing spaceships and adorably messing around with a too-big old pilot's helmet in Force Awakens, while living a legitimately shitty life, certainly gave me more feels than Luke complaining about having to help his dad with the harvest. I can't stand rap music though.

My point is, if she were as intelligent as she seems, why would she NOT question Lucasfilm's decisions? At least on a basic level? The general direction of her character, the overall arc of the sequel trilogy? The way her dentist wants her to look like a shark? What is she thinking?

At least on a basic level? The general direction of her character, the overall arc of the sequel trilogy? The way her dentist wants her to look like a shark? What is she thinking? Because her job is to show up and say the lines as best she can, not halt production by demanding that the script be revised because she thinks she knows better than professional writers. She isn't legendary Harrison Ford with fifty years on the job who can make practically whatever demands he wants. She's a young actress who has had the opportunity of a lifetime just being a part of this project. Besides, us bitterly picking the plot apart in hindsight doesn't mean that it's obvious that a story is going wrong when it's still coming together. Knowledge and understanding of satisfying narrative structure isn't that widespread or that perfect, even among the people whose actual jobs it is to get it right. And it's not like she's the first actress to overdo it with the lip gloss and teeth-whitener for a public appearance. Applying make-up is an art rather than a science too, and not everybody can have the gift. One of the many, many reasons I steer clear of celebrity bullshit is actresses who look great on the big screen often not knowing when to stop when trussing themselves up for a night on telly, and it's a bit painful to look at.

Currently watching Rebels (had a bit of time last week so I am already in the last season (4). If I had to summarize the premise of the show in one sentence it would probably be: "This is about how a terrorist organization recruited a 14 year old street kid as a child soldier for their cause and taught him to kill very efficiently and without remorse." Seriously though (and that summery wasn't entirely not serious), I think it's pretty tough how the kid very quickly seems to have no problem with killing LOTS of storm troopers and other imperials. These are no longer clones or droids but real people, arguably just doing their jobs (this is even emphasized by showing the imperial indoctrination in their academies, these guys never really had a choice either). But anyway, I guess it's war (it's called Star Wars after all). I wouldn't want my kids (if I had any) to watch this series with 7 years, where despite the Jedi code and everything, at the end of the day, violence seems to solve most of their issues most effectively. But as an adult who can see it as just a rather simplistic set of short stories in the generally rather simplistic SW universe, I like it. I think it's actually much better than the first 2 seasons of Clone Wars that I saw. The storylines are still very much fan fiction-y but a little more complex IMO. Without ever having read any of the EU books, I do really like Thrawn as well. He solved the problem that - in a series that needed the Rebels to pull the wool over the empires eyes - the empire would gradually seem more and more incompetent. While Thrawn also barely succeeds in anything, at least he makes it look like he has a plan that is actually somewhat intelligent and that some of the setbacks he encounters are either unavoidable or even a part of his larger stratagem against the rebels.
I also like how you really get a feel for the growth of the rebellion. At the beginning, it's basically just one ship, acting on their own most of the time. Towards the end, they have bases, a fleet of ships and backing from several senators and whatnot. They did get across that every new asset they gain is a struggle to get but that it pays of to have it. It's nice that any ship they gain or loose is referenced and visible again in later episodes (like the y-wings or the carrier, etc.) but they don't get massive resources out of nowhere. That's cool.
So yea, kinda like it. With just a few episodes left, I can say that you can definitely see some evolution from the previous animated series. My favorite Character is probably Hera Syndulla, she's pretty badass.
