This will most likely be the only post I made on this Star Wars thread, because in my honest opinion, Star Wars fans are just the worst. (No offense to you guys. I'm a fan of Star Wars as well, but a lot of online activity is making me ashamed to admit it.)

I get why the fanbase can be mad, but the fact that they are the most vocal about their disgust and apparently threaten fans and creators of the new stuff is just wrong and makes me feel afraid to say I like Disney's Star Wars online. Where have I or anyone here threatened, well, anyone?

I take it back. Admitting that I’m a fan of Star Wars isn’t my problem. It’s the fact that I’m a fan of Disney’s Star Wars that I’m ashamed of. This is your second post now. It's too late to back out. You're stuck here forever.

Apparently looking up "Harry Potter Jedi" in a google image search brings up some pretty good stuff. Who knew?

So apparently there are rumors that the Rian Johnson trilogy was canceled. The source is somewhat... questionable. What I found interesting was how I felt about it, or rather, how I didn't. I barely felt anything aside from a slight mixed feeling of relief and disappointment. A few years back if someone told me that I would have called them insane. I guess I've finally reached the final stage of the grief cycle. Good riddance. Smells like bullshit Too good to be true

I firmly believe we will hear nothing about any future Star Wars movies until Episode IX releases. Disney is going to wait and see how that film is received, and act accordingly. If it bombs, Star Wars may be getting an early reset. If it doesn't bomb, we'll get more of the same( ).

A trailer for the newest Star Wars TV show coming out: Star Wars Resistance I'm honestly liking what I'm seeing. The 3D animation looks pretty good (I'm a sucker for cel-shaded stylized looks), and while the trailer is emphasizing more humor (this is targeted towards kids after all) I think the writing seems pretty good. I like a little bit of detail in animation. I realise that less detail in art makes things more animation friendly, and that this is aimed for kids, but the art style is too simple for my liking.

Solo under performed for a whole bunch of reasons, only one of which was a section of the fanbase being unhappy with TLJ. Hell I enjoy the new movies a great deal and I didn't go see Solo. A prequel movie about a non-force, non-skywalker was always going to be a tougher sell.

Episode IX will not bomb, as far as a general box office success goes. It will make a profit, probably.
If you think it is going to be "Star Wars" business as usual at the Box Office, I think you are in for a rather shocking disappointment.
Time will tell.

A prequel movie about a non-force, non-skywalker was always going to be a tougher sell. You keep thinking that, if you want. But any movie released after Episode VIII is also going to be a tough sell, too. Also, !Force-Ghost Luke and the least-threatening Star Wars villain are not the Skywalkers that are going to be big audience draws for this film. There's a lot of people that will want to see a Luke that no longer exists in the Disney Canon, or a Rey who is in some way connected to them. And for those reasons alone, enough people will stay home to affect Disney's bottom line. There's no question of that. It's just a question of how much of an effect they will have. I guarantee you that had Episode VIII not offended such a solid portion of the Star Wars fanbase, Solo WOULD have made money. Not as much as Rogue One, but enough to make it profitable. Trust me, Disney knows that. Also, let's define 'bomb', while we're at it. I'm not saying that IX will make less money than Solo. I'd be a fool to think that. But the bar is set at 1.3 million. That's what VIII made, and that's the MIINIMUM that Disney is going to expect for the film to be considered a success. Less than that might still make a profit, but diminishing returns is a sign of a flatlining franchise, and Disney will see anything less than 1.3 as a failure. To me, that would be a bomb. As far as I'm concerned, a film can make money, and still bomb the expectations set for it. And the final part of a Star Wars trilogy has some high expectations. My ballpark for the film? $700-$900 million. I don't think it'll break the $1 Billion mark. I think the backlash from VIII, and the failure of Solo have created a negative buzz around the franchise, and the fans who hate the film have seen the power they wield with their wallets. Don't underestimate them. I'm not saying that IX is definitely going to bomb, but to outright dismiss the possibility that it might is the definition of hubris, considering Solo's fate and the state of the franchise in general.

Also, let's define 'bomb', while we're at it. This is the problem then, your definition of 'bomb' is pretty damn wide. For me a bomb is a film that barely breaks even or actively lost money. Solo isn't a bomb, it under performed against expectations. Ep XI won't bomb either.

Yeah, messy productions tend to inflate costs really very quickly.
