Hi starlord ! Now I’m curious about that Reyes type of guy in HZD. Post a pic? for Joshua Graham btw, one of the top-5 character from New Vegas. Heehee, sure, The mysterious history of MW Reyes. Too bad we'll never know. I'm not sure if he could successfully change his outlook on hooking up so dramatically in six months or so, but maybe this cautious approach really is just the result of his need to stay in the shadows. Well, definitely. I still think "big stuff" is too vague to make it impossible to play loose with it (Now I'm kind of imagining Reyes sitting on some all-galactic threat, claiming he didn't find it important when it's discovered he knew all along ) She's probably the only woman (human, who knows about the rest, of course) in the game you can immediately say to be pretty. Which one of Ryders's pre-Reyes LIs has at least that? Yeah, I completely agree, it would be fun. What a flaw to add to Ryder and a way to move major events. And then there would be all those silences and mean stares when someone asks why the Charlatan's gone dark so sudden... Hm, Reyes finding out a new big bad and sitting on the intel, quietly preparing for the protection of his own people - and then getting to claim the spoils once every other organization has been decimated by the threat? Bold idea. I might be crazy, but I vaguely recall thinking that the coward on Eos that kept getting into trouble wasn't that bad-looking at all. Maybe Ryder should've been given an option to sweep him off his feet, like a rescuing hero. (Btw does it just feel like the fling options are always girls? Not complaining, because I don't really care, but it just occurred to me. Might be untrue, anyway.) Ah, so the petty and slighted Pathfinder would send the Charlatan into hiding, perhaps even more effectively than an angry Sloane ever could? Why did an insanely bad elopement plan that ends in some weird shit and nearly getting eaten by a cthulhu immediately spring to my mind? Lol, poor Kaetus, sitting on the only whoopee cushion in Andromeda. Too bad the game only lets you go look for him when he's well into the process, it might be interesting if Ryder could follow him all the way (and then giving him a scare, lol), it's not like SAM didn't track him to that storage in the beginning. Makes sense. On the other hand his pastime with favorite uncle may involve planning a local takeover and for that kind of fun the bottle would be just the thing. Why would Reyes be panicked? He probably didn't expect Ryder to go look for him in the first place, even if the chance of that was pretty big. Unless this was a part of his plan somehow. Maybe because there aren't that many elopement options, since all planets are boring and too well-known, leaving only the Black Hole as a viable option for a daring madcap adventure? Nah, Ryder knows to give Reyes some space, it would be too oppressive to loom behind his every step. I meant like Reyes would find out only after he had completed his theft. He'd get the bottle and come looking for Ryder, only to be informed by Keema that Ryder had left an hour ago, looking pissed off. Then Reyes would panic and start calling their omnitool. The option would fit a more tempestuous (and surely insufferable) RP of their affair, anyhow.

Putting the pictures under spoilers- just in case The amazing fan art from Pinterest by K. McLarnon And him with his headpiece- also from Pinterest I’m not sure he’s of Chilean decent like Reyes, but the backstory is also very Reyes-like. Except he’s extremely good guy Reyes and the “Sloane” figure is... to say they are not as pleasant as her would be a massive understatement. I would post a video of his flirting because it’s hilarious and adorable, but there’s no romance options and I cry every time. Like I said, I get why, but . ;-; This is Zarl, the other dude I mentioned static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/varl.png also yessss Joshua Graham, I had a slight crush on Boone for a while since he’s mad dependable with a rifle, but once Joshua Graham came onto the scene I was shook.

Aw, activity in the thread, me like Hello again, starlord ! Cones of shame are too drastic, if I had to get a cone of shame each time my inspiration just ebbed away halfway through something and never returned by now I'd be buried deep under those things... Make sure to post any progress But come on, you two, Graham? The crazy Mormon mummy guy who got thrashed at Hoover dam? He's not bad, I admit, but not even close to Boone or Caesar That HZD character does look a bit like Reyes, especially in the first pic. Not complaining, because I don't really care, but it just occurred to me. Might be untrue, anyway.) Ah, so the petty and slighted Pathfinder would send the Charlatan into hiding, perhaps even more effectively than an angry Sloane ever could? I didn't think about it that deep, but that would surely be something to see. But why not, really? Wait prepared and then emerge as the victorious party seems like something Reyes might do should the situation around Heleus get unbearably strained (aka the moment everyone sobers up and the universal friend-fest ends) or somehow too dangerous for him and his people. Of course, that would require keeping Ryder in the dark big time, maybe even preparing to sacrifice them should it come to that. Which of course wouldn't be that pretty... Hee, yes. I don't know how they could let such an opportunity pass. It would be an epic fling with an even more epic archive (or whatever) tile showing Ryder carrying the tech in their arms to some safe haven with atmospheric lighting. Speaking of that guy, did anyone meet him on Elaaden? I think I vaguely remember him saying he was heading there next. True, I don't remember any male flings in ME or any other BW game. Strange. Heheeee. Yeah, sure they would. How could Reyes cross the mighty Pathfinder and hope to remain unpunished? He must've always known what he was in for fooling around with the players who are important and only getting more so. Maybe all the time it wasn't Sloane he had to fear.... Or maybe because it simply involves Liam. But well, maybe Ryder could take care of the finer details so that the elopement didn't end up in total disaster, or in the maw of a hungry cthulhu But I think Kadara would make for an interesting elopement option. Or maybe in Heleus people simply elope to Elaaden. Or on uncharted abandoned asteroids. There's many options in the new galaxy. Space is good and necessary, yeah. But this time curiosity might win over. After all, Ryder's tiny bit shady date just left them in a party they weren't really welcome on, with just a cryptic remark to explain his intentions. That just might work. If there really were an option to leave, Reyes might call Ryder and invite them to share a bottle (later on revealed as the bottle) somewhere as a means of apology. Reyes might even enjoy a bit of tempestuousness and insufferability to the affair, he likes his drama and posing as a dashingly shady crime lord

BloodOfShiagur Joshua Graham has the voice, the aesthetic, and the mummy realness... Also the story of Caesar's Legion yeeting him off the Grand Canyon is hilarious. PLS HALP! I'm in shipping hell!!! If you guys think that Mass Effect is bad for shipping- Horizon Zero Dawn is much, much worse. I'm torn between two good men... HZD Reyes surprisingly being one of them. #whydoesAloyhavegoodchemistrywithliterallyeveryoneshemeets??? #whatfuckingsorcery #whenwillchaptertwoofmyficreturnfromthereaperinvasion? Also, if you guys have a PS4, I strongly recommend Horizon: Zero Dawn. It's similar to Andromeda in some ways, and it's like seriously great. It's like Andromeda with Star Wars's Rey/Dany from GOT hybrid voiced by Chloe Price as the protagonist with killer rob dinosaurs and Crispin Freeman is also there.... I don't think I'm selling the awesome LOL

Hey friends! Finally have something for you! archiveofourown.org/works/12428982I hope it’s worth the wait! ... I also hope I won’t keep you waiting like 5 months for the next chapter 0_O [EDIT:] Don't want to get too excited, but in thinking about the things promised about Andromeda- - - has got me thinking about where my fic is going- which is getting me inspired to write... I kinda wanted to portray the romance from a different angle. Although Shepard kinda flirts up a storm canonically with Vega, I wanted to see if she could stay in the fiery kitchen when a cute smuggler badass comes into the picture. I think I'm doing something.. interesting with the Thane idea- you'll see But I like the idea of dates on the Citadel- getting into trouble with the galaxy elites and just kind of slowly moving it into a direction where Reyes absolutely makes sense as an LI for her- even though Shepard's a little bit more difficult to woo than Ryder. Also- if you don't think I'm doing to dedicate an entire chapter to the Citadel dlc, and deprive myself the image of Reyes murdering men and swaggering over to Shep a la Kaidan/Garrus/Liara- you're freaking wrong. Also- Charlize Theron seriously makes a great head canon Female Shepard 10/10 would head canon again.

Joshua Graham has the voice, the aesthetic, and the mummy realness... Also the story of Caesar's Legion yeeting him off the Grand Canyon is hilarious. Now when you put it like that.... Plus he's also probably the only mummy that would give one trouble while chasing after them around, so a few extra points for being dangerous. Does HZD have romances, or are we at headcanon territory now? Hey friends! Finally have something for you! archiveofourown.org/works/12428982I hope it’s worth the wait! ... Aw, Reyes and Aria in one fic, intriguing. Double so that you have a good take on both of them. (Even though I can't really imagine Aria saying "Goddess" .) Also, freelancing around Omega is a good place for MW Reyes. Hope we'll not be left cliff-hanging. Thane, you say? It he going to be involved too? For the Citadel idea, do you mean Reyes swaggering around when Shepard gets ambushed in the sushi place, or is it an idea of Reyes' Silver strip scene? Makes for a fun concept anyway.

BloodOfShiagurThere is no canon love interest in H:ZD, however, throughout the game it’s heavily implied that three men find Aloy attractive. One straight up asks her to stay with him- another calls her “a pretty girl” to her face, while the other says he wanted to fight along side her- gets flustered and changes it to “along side our warriors” or something similar. However, Aloy is bound to her mission that she doesn’t choose one- although many point to a line she says that I haven’t heard- as indication that she has feelings for one of them in particular. I’m trying to be vague, so I’m sorry if I don’t make sense! I can spoiler tag and be more clear if you don’t mind later on- let me know! Thank you so much for your nice comment! I really wanted to nail their personalities, so I’m glad I got it down for the most part! Yeah lol I can see now how Aria isn’t the “goddess” type haha~ Word of warning- I haven’t played Omega nor read the novels that heavily use Aria- so I might step away from canon with her- I’m debating watching a playthrough of Omega but idk yet :/ Yup! I get the feeling that Reyes would be attracted to Omega. I like to think, in my interpretation of Reyes, that he’s the type to really love gritty places and urban places. I have a line in the upcoming chapter (because I’m really in the zone) that he feels that people are the most honest in Omega because more situations are a matter between life and death. Yup! Thane is- Shepard and Thane have a unique connection this time around... it might lead to some jealousy from other parties... but I wouldn’t possibly know anything about that Hells yeah!!! I can already imagine Reyes murking three mercs and then chastising Ryder for falling through a fish tank. Haha

Happy one year anniversary to Mass Effect: Andromeda!
Although the road after release was... mixed... at best. You have given me Reyes Vidal- a character who was a little shit who loved Ryder, scamming, robbery, and fraud like he loved his Whiskey.
He has also introduced me to some great people (@you who’s reading this) and has given me a completed fic- which I am proud of!
So cheers to Reyes and cheers to more shenangians and tomfoolery in the future. If Mass Effect is a sinking ship and all of us are it’s mere passengers- meet me in the bar... I know a Turian and a shady asshole who’re buying/shirking their tab.

I know a Turian and a shady asshole who’re buying/shirking their tab. Cheers to that, and true enough, at least the series had some memorable characters. Garrus and Reyes are the ones I'm going to remember, for sure. And this fun thread, ofc. Thanks for the pics, I can see the resemblance to Reyes. Too bad the game is console exclusive! I haven’t had any console since being a kid. I remember seeing some good writer whose previous work I’ve enjoyed working on HZD and being sad over not getting to play. Graham is maybe in the top-5 best written chars in New Vegas. And his voice is probably the most pleasant one in the entire game (btw a fun fact is that he also voiced Harbinger in ME2). I wouldn't mind modding him into a companion in the main game, although it would break the narrative too hard to actually do it. But I like the idea of dates on the Citadel- getting into trouble with the galaxy elites and just kind of slowly moving it into a direction where Reyes absolutely makes sense as an LI for her- even though Shepard's a little bit more difficult to woo than Ryder. That’s actually an interesting angle. Reyes would have to work a lot harder making impression on Shepard. But the Citadel talk made me think about the somewhat Reyes-y Turian con artist in the Citadel DLC. I don’t remember his name, but I do remember hoping someone would make a fic of him or something (and by now it probs has happened). He was at the casino, wearing all black, with the line about conmen leaving their targets angry, and con artists leaving them smiling. Huh, now I can’t helping but imagine him as an ex-partner (in crime and in a relationship) of Reyes. If not for nothing else but to give a supposedly bi guy an actual male ex. The plot of Omega wasn’t as strong as in some of the other DLCs but I really liked the slightly more challenging gameplay in it. It’s worth playing/watching for Nyreen alone, though. Which of course wouldn't be that pretty.. Hee, yes. He must've always known what he was in for fooling around with the players who are important and only getting more so. Maybe all the time it wasn't Sloane he had to fear.... Ooor even better, Ryder being in on it. Tho Ryder getting betrayed is also a possibility. Haha yeah, maybe they can meet once again at the Meridian, where the guy (what was even his name?) has wandered off into one of the secrets caves on the planet (does a Dyson sphere thing count as a planet as such?). See, there's one further option for Ryder, should Reyes end up betraying them for a lucrative deal w/ Keema + the Black Hole monster, or whatever. I don't remember seeing him on Elaaden... Hopefully he didn't end up facing a grisly death there. It's a bit odd, isn't it - but many seem to have approach Reyes as a fling before settling on a cuddlier LI, so I guess he can be used that way. Reyes is pretty clever, but yeah I doubt his plot armor is match to the Protag Always Being Right thing that Bioware is so fond of. That just might work. If there really were an option to leave, Reyes might call Ryder and invite them to share a bottle (later on revealed as the bottle) somewhere as a means of apology. Reyes might even enjoy a bit of tempestuousness and insufferability to the affair, he likes his drama and posing as a dashingly shady crime lord Oh, I don't know, maybe if they steered clear of the more populated areas. It's hard to elope if you're just going to run into the same old ppl you know from before. The magic suffers a bit at that. Yeah, Reyes would have to coax Ryder a bit though, after all there would be the wounded pride and all to be mended. Reyes likes drama, but only when he's in total control of it. He seems a bit too chill to enjoy personal dramatics - but considering how much younger Ryder is, he might just have to endure some amount of it.

orchidHey!! Glad that you enjoyed the pictures of Avad- and it sucks that many games are console exclusives- like Persona 5 and such... everyone should get a chance to play- especially since Horizon is so hopeful and fun. Yup! I’m working in a lot of my “fixes” for ME3 too and a lot of character development for Shepard. This was a story that I really wanted to write after replaying ME3 and not feeling crushed by the ending- but rather disappointed. Shepard will be angstier, angrier, and more powerful and I’m so. Here. For. It. Thane’s importance to the story surprised me, but I really like it- since it portrays an emotional connection between two people that isn’t romantic, but still emotionally investing. Yep- I’m really excited to really grow and expand on the courtship between Reyes and Shepard- it reminds me a lot of Han/Leia- hopefully without the man child of a son being in the picture also I’m working on making Kai Leng have a more developed and satisfying arc- so I’m hype!

This thread is quiet.
....
Too quiet.
I’m super stoked for the summer months coming up and I should have more time to dedicate to my personal projects (yay!) I cannot wait any longer- especially now that Saints Row 2 is finally out for Xbox One (Can’t wait to see my murder husband again!)
Back to Reyes- was it ever announced by Courtney Woods what his birthday was. I feel like he’s an April, July, or November kind of guy. Would love to hear some theories lol

Hello I know this thread is quiet, but hopefully someone still stops by and could help me. Reading this thread, I´m about 80 pages in, so if this has been answered/discussed, point me to the page, if possible. Google-fu has been less than helpful. I´ll post the question up here, what´s below is just me sharing my excitement. I´m a lurker, this must be my, what, second post counting the introduction post after migrating from ye olde BSN. So I tend to long-ass-post when I, eh, post. If someone here has a savegame with Scott/Reyes romance locked in, I´d like to ask them to check something. After the lock-in, your crew at Kadara port have all romance specific comments. I get all of those, save for Vetra´s. She has the standard allied with Charlatan comment. Thanks, mom. I did things somewhat out of the order? After the dance still had to clear the vault, but if I do get specific comments before already that should indicate this is not the issue (before High Noon viability was 35, I think). Have not flirted with Vetra, should that matter. So perhaps one of the patches removed the Queen comment from firing for males? I want to be a Pathfinder-baroness, dammit, I did spoil myself with Youtube on this and heard the Scott version, and it was glorious. The romantic entanglement codex is there, and I´m good with it as is, just that not getting this particular convo has had me reloading and retrying and it´s hampering the mood of the playthrough. I´d like to know if it´s still there. If not, fine. If it is, I might try to re-do Kadara from the start. (Might, because I try not to overdo the romantic convos, especially if they have the kick for me the Reyes one does. Too familiar with convos and I tend to zone out because I know all the little details of it already). *** LONG ASS POST AHOY I am doing my second playthrough after a long hiatus, Scott this time. Was set to romance Liam with Sara the first go, and it was... nice. Just nice. Also the game seemed to end when it was getting really meaty, storywise (hindsight, this is the perfect worldbuilding game, now all we need is a next game. A promise of a next game. Ugh.). So I moved on until I started craving for that beautiful vast world exploration. Didn´t know whom to pawn my Scott off to romantically. This thread got me remembering how Sara picked Sloane, saved Sloane and twitch-finger-shot Reyes in the back. Ouch, the email after, ouch. But first playthrough, no do-overs. At the time I considered Reyes a fling (as advertised, at the time), crew members being the traditional romance options, and I wanted the Full Romance Package. Ironical, since after having completed Reyes´ romance (upgraded one now, as I understand), it has more punch for me than any others in games where there have been romances. That I´ve played. The (optional) romance that is a part of a quest, someone having a life apart from you protag - absolutely fantastic. Even if the content is concentrated on the very quest and the world, I´m happy to headcanon the continued relationship. Not that this sort of twist can be used again, and have the same impact, but I like this new kind of avenue for romances. I think this is years worth of posting for me. If you´re alive after that wall of text, I might need to ask again - if you have such a savegame, please see if the Scott/Vetra banter about Pathfinder-baroness on Kadara is there. Thank you

The baroness line by Vetra was unfortunately removed in a patch, yeah. Just going by my memory, it was one of the latter patches, maybe even the last or the penultimate one. I don't know if it's possible to roll back on old versions in this game.
Afaik the line was removed as a solution to complaints of the romance being tailored to femRyder and Scott being an afterthought. I think most ppl would've preferred to either keep the baroness line (since it's funny af) or getting something new recorded, but i know some disliked it too. Even so, the romance really is worth it indeed, even with the warts that the Scott version has.

Thank you, orchid, you have given me a peace of mind on this. Don´t know if the rolling back patches is a thing anymore, and I´m not aware if Frosty Editor can be used for reenabling one comment. Headcanon away it is. Also it seems that Vetra is simply not registering the Reyes romance - the flirt option remains, even if it is gone from everyone else. Tried it out, and to my surprise when Vetra asks if Scott has met anyone, his replies amount to "Nah". Scott, you little cheating shit Hell of a good romance still. P.S. Something nice about all of this running around in circles though - Having reloaded again to finally move on with the plot and fix the vault, after the dance Scott´s face glitched to eternal grin, laughing lines and all. Throughout the monoliths, bandit raids and persisting even in the vault. Until I miscalculated a jump. Yeah, would´ve wiped the grin off my face too. But it played very well with the idea of Scott grinning like an idiot, fresh in love.

Just looked it up myself. It's a shame they removed it, tho I can understand why. A slightly different version (ending in Baron perhaps) would've done nicely. In these moments Youtube becomes a video game's archive.

That's odd...I just finished the Reyes romance a few days ago, and I got the Vetra Pathfinder-baroness conversation.

Does anyone have an ideal Mission Order for a Reyes romance?
This is my second time romancing our dear King of Kadara, and I'm trying something new. As soon as I finished up the murder mystery and the bit with Zia, I heeded Suvi's advice and returned to the Tempest. I then left Kadara behind and did the two missions on the would-be turian homeworld (Vetra's loyalty mission and the mining thing). I'm actually thinking about doing some more stuff before heading back to Kadara, namely the asari ark mission and the Archon mission.
So far it's been a pretty cool way to draw out the romance; canon-wise, all I have is an email from Reyes saying to come see him, so my Ryder is assuming it isn't urgent, plus he (Ryder) has lots of actually important stuff to do first.
I'm thinking I'll even do Elaaden before I finally finish High Noon and complete the romance. Thoughts?

I'm thinking I'll even do Elaaden before I finally finish High Noon and complete the romance. Thoughtts? On my first pt, I actually sped through the romance pretty fast since the Kadara quest was probably the only thing that seriously caught my attention, but I think I'm more a fan of spacing it out till about 70/80 percent of the game. Ryder keeps returning to Kadara all the time anyway, it's odd that the events would happen in such a short time, and Reyes making random appearances till he's finally revealed has its charm. That way he also gets at least optically larger presence, too, which is never a bad thing. (Also, to me, it was also the only way to make my canon Ryder actually work with Reyes at all... fun as a fast flash romance is, if Ryder did not have a history longer than few days with him, that character just would not have taken that High noon duel shenanigan well)
I think that I did only the Vehn thing and the murder mystery on the first visit to Kadara, and the left the rest whenever some other quest drew me there, but basically around the Archon mission (which Ryder was pretty much stalling in hoping a better idea would illuminate someone), waiting for the recon tech to ne installed on the Tempest (it must have taken time), jumping the Nomad over geysers on that dead asteroid and some companion quests. I never did it after the quasi-Meridian station, but I've never been a fan of the last-night-before-battle way romances were gated in the trilogy, and the whole Kadara thing seems most relevant before the Meridian chase begins.
As for Elaaden, I never went there before High noon was over, partly because it's my least favorite planet, partly because I wanted some content to stuff between High noon and the ending, and of course because there's the shifty Turian with the Reyes comments, and teasing her knowingly with Reyes post-High noon is sort of fun.

I kind of like the "night before romantic visit" because I'm, well, a total romantic sap xD But ah well, you don't get that with Reyes anyway. I did exactly the same as you my first playthrough; played through the romance all in one go. It was heart-pounding and toe-curling, but then the rest of the game I kept waiting for something... anything... an email? a vid call? ANYTHING? So yeah, hence my current plan You're so right about the shifty turian on Elaaden, damn, guess I'll have to finish off High Noon before doing that planet lol

Oh and I'm reading up a bit and notice they changed Vetra's comments post-romance? I don't know that i ever got the baroness comment, but I hope the "queen of kadara" is still present? It made me laugh and Ryder was low key offended but like so low key I half thought he was smug about it, plus I found it cute xD I love it when people tease my dork Ryder, and the kid needs to be taken down a peg or two sometimes.

Gahh... taking the more standoffish/professional responses with Ryder makes for a very tsun-tsun Ryder in this romance, especially at the party xD And in talking to his angaran pal at the party (forgot her name already), Ryder bitched about Reyes ditching him and said he wasn't sure he even liked him. Then after the kiss: Ryder: "It was just a distraction." Reyes calling me out on it while on the rooftop was adorable lmao Had a thought: after the Zia ordeal, he messages Ryder, "In case you were wondering... I have better taste in men than I do in women." What does he say to female Ryder?
