Surprised that this one was about our team and not about the "outpost establishment guidelines" I expected from watching the initial welcome briefing. Another nice briefing though. Liked for showing us what and with whom we work with!

I do have to wonder about the legality and general acceptance of something like SAM. Coming from a galaxy with a legitimate fear of a synthetic uprising, enough so that research into that subject has been outlawed, how is it that Alc Ryder was permitted to not only create an artificial intelligence, but then be allowed to pull a proto-synthesis and have the thing hot-wired into everyone's nervous system on the Pathfinder team? That just seems a little too wishful thinking/transhumanist of a a society that only recently had to fight a race of synthetic beings hell bent on killing or implanting you on Dragon's Teeth. I'd imagine it's because they didn't technically ask for permission. We've seen a lot of groups in the ME series that decided to not play by the rules in order to accomplish what they wanted. And isn't the Andromeda Initiative funded by some unknown or private group? I'd imagine they didn't really care about the typical rules regarding AI, kind of like how Cerberus made EDI even though they knew it was against the law to make an AI.

Cora's voice over seemed kind of awkward to me. I don't know, maybe that's good voice acting since some random soldier probably would be awkward doing VO for an advertisement.

I also love the background sounds, such as the sound of the thrusters.
The deep rumble sounds are amazing to hear with a headphone that has a very low bass frequency range (~ 20Hz). Can't wait to hear them through my audio floor speakers.
The stereo separation of the L and R channels is excellent. The sounds of the space vehicles that are visible moving from L to R across the screen also have the audio moving from L to R inside through my brain. It's so well done.

If Cora is second-in-command, how come Scott/Sara Ryder end up as the new pathfinder? It even says in Cora's description "...made her a candidate for Alec Ryder's second in command, and if warranted, his succesor as pathfinder" Any ideas? Yeah, my guess is that this will be Cora's character arc through the game: Getting over the fact that she won't be in charge and learning to respect Sara/Scott as the leader.

Or.. something happens what makes her mentally unfit to take upthe role of command thus it falls to one of the Ryder siblings?

So...the Nexus looks like it was destroyed. That was it they were flying around in the beginning, right? And they arrive long after Nexus did. What happened to it? Where did all the people on board go? How did we find it if we were so far behind? And how did we find the survivors? And how are the people aboard the Hyperion doing?
The trailer just added more questions.

I wonder whether reasons for 'romancing' Ryder has anything to do with that. Maybe it's just a careerist strategy?

If she is that mentally unfit she probably wouldn't be fit for any position on the pathfinder team. Maybe SAM works better with the Ryder family DNA and is more limited for anyone outside the family.

Finishing the construction seems to be part of the game (you can see a Nexus XP/progression bar in some of the menus).

Either that or she will take Miranda's approach. Would be interesting if we will have to earn her respect rather than getting it right out of the gate though.

Considering that Alec was the one that build SAM i would say it's possible he indeed put something like that on the IA programing.

I have a question about the new briefing. I may be wrong, but I believe that part of the video; the one showing the Tempest exit FTL in the system with a series of planets with names like Habitat 5, and Habitat 6; were those planets in question all orbiting a black hole? Because if so, then that is a horrible place to look for a new place to call home. Now while such stellar phenomena are among my favorite things about space in general, they would make for horrible places to live, regardless of what Interstellar would tell you. First off, a black hole does not generate light, in fact only by the devouring of matter can we tell where it is, so unless there is a sizable accretion disk surrounding the event horizon you're looking at a pitch black, frozen ice ball of a planet orbiting an invisible cosmic vacuum cleaner. Not really suitable for a "New Earth". Also, even if there is enough accumulated matter being devoured by the host black hole to generate enough light and heat to support life as we know it, you are looking at a very brief window of time (geologically speaking) for said matter to be there in enough quantities to support said life. Remember an accretion disk is constantly being sucked into the inescapable void that is the event horizon, eventually that material is going to run out. Now while that might not happen for one or two human, or even asari, lifetimes it is certainly going to be a heck of a lot quicker than waiting for a main sequence star to die out. After all you would be essentially be relying on the swirling dregs of some gas cloud or cannibalized star circling the drain for your only source of light and heat. And finally, even if there is enough material present to ensure Earth-like temperatures for the foreseeable future, you still have the black hole itself to worry about. These things are constantly spewing out deadly x-rays, gamma rays, and particle jets, some so powerful as to strip the atmosphere off a planet in a neighboring galaxy. Does the Andromeda Initiative really think that living next to something like that would be conducive to the long term survival of the human race?

The description of SAM says it was designed by Elen Ryder. Cora says it was designed by the Pathfinder himself.
Now I'm confused.
