I like how they confirmed the Quarians in a one sentence, no big deal kind of way. The worlds all look varied, though that is to be expected. What's confirmed is that there's a world where quarians and turians can eat. That doesn't mean we'll see any quarians. True, but if that was the point why bother even mentioning them? They easily could have just said a world where the turians can eat.

They easily could have just said a world where the turians can eat. It's been indicated that not all races will necessarily show up in the first game but that a way for them to show up will eventually appear. To me, this suggests that there won't be quarians until MEA2 or, perhaps, in a DLC.

To me, this suggests that there won't be quarians until MEA2 or, perhaps, in a DLC. They wouldn't have thrown their name into a briefing, explained their contribution to the initiative in the video and teased us on twitter if they weren't going to appear until the next game. At the very least we'll see hints of them in game and see them introduced properly in planned DLC.

It's not like they would have to do much, from what I can recall the only in ME1 the only Elcor you talked to was the ambassador and the merchant on Noveira. The rest just stood around as scenery NPCs. Tali was the only Quarian in ME1 if I recall. They really would just have to put one in the game you talk to (even if it was a merchant/minor NPC), then maybe a handful as background on the ark. Honestly, though I could see what you put happening. Still seems like it would be dumb for Bioware to casually mention them (when they could have easily not) and then not have any in the game or as DLC. Especially knowing how much some of their fans love the race.

Honestly, though I could see what you put happening. Still seems like it would be dumb for Bioware to casually mention them (when they could have easily not) and then not have any in the game or as DLC. Especially knowing how much some of their fans love the race. It seems very likely at this point that we will get a Quarian and Turian focused DLC. What's not clear at the moment is whether or not what we have in the base game will be simply references and hints to said DLC, or if there will be a Quarian character or two on the nexus. I'll go into more detail below, but be warned that they contain some moderate spoilers about MEA. The Turian Ark seems to be missing, and an Andromeda novel coming out in summer had a working title of "The lost Ark". The achievements also mention missions involving every Ark except the Turian one. This has led people to believe that the fate of that Ark will be covered in DLC, around the time the novel is published.
Since most, maybe even all of the Quarian colonists would have travelled with the Turians it's likely they will play an important role in the book and DLC, but may not appear in the base game. Of course there could still be one or two Quarian NPC's on the nexus to inform the player about the situation.
My opinion about this is mixed. I'd like to have them in the base game, but this way they are at least a major part of Andromeda's ongoing story. They clearly have this plotline in mind going forward, which might be why they are starting to tease it.
