Triggers are still for shooting, Powers are actually mapped to the bumpers (L / R / L+R). OMG, I will absolutely HATE this. Having to spam bumpers instead of buttons is very fatiguing on the hand, wrist and forearm. For DAIMP you could end up with one power on a bumper and the others on the buttons. It is one reason I hate playing the bard zither, he is all bumper activate. This is going to suck do hard. Perhaps you can remap?

They even design professional controllers partially with this in mind. You may have a slightly unorthodox grip, I guess. (Body mechanics are a thing I'm sort of into, of necessity.) We always had 2 of 3 powers on the bumpers in ME, anyway. I'm assuming the above ( Hrungr's part about triggers) was based upon some developer input? If so, it seems possible to me that the Xbox One may feature triggers for shooting and bumpers for powers, while the PS4 seems reversed. In the video, the functions normally assigned to the R2 trigger (from an Xbox user's perspective) -- shooting, conversation interrupt, etc-- were all mapped to the R1 bumper. Conversely, the powers I'd usually have mapped to L1 and R1 bumpers are instead mapped to the triggers. This is an issue I've noticed in multiple PS/XBox crossovers, but I have no idea why it would rear its head now. The PS4 controller is excellent, with excellent triggers. Allow me to use them for shooting, please.

Yeah, it'll be an interesting juggle however you map them... On the button side, right now you have jump/melee/evade/???

Perhaps but tapping quickly with a thumb over a limited area is much easier on the hand than finer pressing a bumper for me especially when you get in the heat of the battle and you are not lightly tapping but hitting buttons hard. I would be legit surprised if most people found it the opposite. Also I would find it far tougher to drive with the stick with my left thumb and have to left fore finger hit the left bumper as opposed to left thumb to drive and right thumb to activate powers.

True. Quick pulls fatigue the trigger finger quickly. I don't think we will get cooldowns low enough to spam our powers that fast, though. The human body is amazing, in any case, and joints are pretty crazy in the amount of abuse they take without complaint. I, unfortunately, am not glued together so well, so I have to be conscious of every movement and motion.

Perhaps an Elite-style controller would make it easier to manage...? Seriously, look into these if you've ever had issues with hand fatigue or if you want to get an extra edge in online gaming. There would be an initial learning curve, getting use to the displaced buttons, but the ergonomics are much improved for certain games. For other games, not so much. As Beerfish said, it depends upon what you're asking each finger to do. The idea with these is to free the thumbs entirely from buttons, so that they can focus on the sticks. This is great for professional Madden players, for instance. The underneath paddles replace face buttons. That's great for a game like Mass Effect, in which we don't hammer buttons. You'd be writhing in pain in 90 seconds if you tried to play a fighting game like this. One can't pull triggers as fast or as long as he can push buttons.
