Ian S. Frazier @tibermoon No, though we do let you choose your facial hair style of course. David Lechleitner @davezillaman ok, thank you for getting back to me! How many different options are there? Or can you not say? Ian S. Frazier @tibermoonCan't say, we're not going into detail on chargen just yet. (Not sure how I would have felt if there was dynamic hair growth...) ,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸-(_MEA_)-,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸
Allowing us to choose our facial hair style is expected. The "awesomeness" of the available styles remains to be seen.
On item #2, my take away is that we can expect something in a future trailer.
So, the question is did Bio improve the CC when compared to its DA:I version?
well seeing how they have scanned faces in the CC for MEA i believe the answer to that question is yes. it just remains uncertain as to how much it has improved. the hair textures and models also looked better (Scot, Liam, Cora, Sara) also there's hair physics now.

Cannot Compute @devon_DB Can we also change the name of the other Ryder? Ian S. Frazier @tibermoon
No. Your twin always uses the default name, so we can avoid twins and father all calling each other "Ryder." I understand the reason why (it is weird to call your sibling by your shared surname, who does that? like nobody. even Bethany/Carver's "brother!", "Sister!" felt semi-off at times. at least that fit the fantasy setting a bit) and I know irl mixed-culture/mixed-race or hell even some same-culture families can have a mix of names/naming styles among the children (and I also know that people of any race can have any name), but I still feel kind awkward for the people who wanna call their Ryder a non-Western/non-Anglosphere/non-English (or whatever) name.. like oh, I'm Juan/Minato/Mohammad/Peng/Siyabonga, and this is my sister, Sara .. names taken off wiki's list of most common names in different places in the world, in case you think I'm slinging stereotypes around or some shit.

Your parents will have fixed names as well, and they are distinctively Western Europenian anglophones. I think about it more like Serenity, where the cultures are so intermingled in the future, that heritage is mixed if your character's name stands out. Though, yes, I am disappointed that the twin retains Scott/Sara monikers.

yeah! my assumption is Ellen=mom too. it's like, I see parents who have children (where everyone in the family unit is the same race) with different-culture names in each generation irl sometimes (like people who move to a Western country, stay there, have kids and name the kids something Western, as an example). different-culture names for two twins tho? totally possible of course, especially in a sci-fi future where everything is more global and cosmopolitan, but it still sticks out to me like a sore thumb, lol. aerith and bob.

Adam Wigley @adam4wigleyQuestion: Can we change the hair and color after the character creator? Aaryn Flynn aarynflynn Don't think so ,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸-(_MEA_)-,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸
Hm...
DA:I's CC had one colour for my character while the game showed a slightly different one. I lost quite a bit of time trying to "fix it". I'm looking forward to the comments from the early adopters. An option to tweak the colour of one's character is a nice feature.
I wonder if it has anything to do with the CC generating meshes and textures for your character?
I do hope so... For all the possibilities and details that CC had, it was really frustrating. First time in forever I had to actually restart the game because my character's lips looked like she had applied a ton of gloss on them. Couldn't unsee.

Scott's hairs are a mixed bag, sometimes they look good, sometimes, not so much. I think the best shot (for the hairs) was in the first official cinematic trailer. But the last trailer seems to be composed of scenes from different builds, since he look different in some of them.

Indeed. Sara and Alec are fine, because they are common names used almost everywhere, but Scott really is not. I hate that name. They could have come up with something more universal like Alexander. I still wish we could name our twin too since we can even change their appearance. You could avoid those situations by having everyone call him "your brother", "my brother" or give him some random nickname - doesn't matter to me. But since that's not gonna happen guess I'll just pretend "Scott" and "Sara" are some extremely stupid joke names they call each other.

Based on that logic they shouldn't have inserted the option of calling the one we pick with their default first name. I much prefer having our sibling having a fixed name then naming ourselves, same goes for the father. They're not our characters. It's different from the one we pick because we should have control of the name, but not npcs. I do agree it might've been better to have a more universal name for Scott, although I don't have much problem with it.

Someone I knew, a salt of the earth kind of a person hid his daughter's birth certificate to name her Seraphima, I would have never in a million years have guessed... but people go crazy with naming their first. I distinctively remember the lists and the negotiations in my own household. I imagine it was worse with the twins.

I have a brother and sister and I use both 'my brother/sister' and their name when talking about them. I call him by his first name and her with a diminutive from her name, but only because she thinks the first name sounds too formal. It depends from the person I guess. Besides, l'm sure the brother/sister terms will be used. The first name isn't only used for those talks, and it helps variating between the terms.

It's also worth remembering that this is set over 160 years from now. It's not unreasonable to suppose that names have become quite homogenized with people borrowing from all cultures for their kids' names.

well seeing how they have scanned faces in the CC for MEA i believe the answer to that question is yes. it just remains uncertain as to how much it has improved. the hair textures and models also looked better (Scot, Liam, Cora, Sara) also there's hair physics now. So stoked about this! I hope it works with the player character, too. It does on Sara's ponytail but whether there are other hairstyles we can pick with it we don't know yet. We know they did use hair physics in DA2 so hopefully we'll see a few hairstyles with a little hair physics. Maybe a couple of shoulder length ones similar to what Hawke can have in DA2. Even if it's just kept simple like DA2's hair was then that's at least something. At least I'd be happy with that. But as people have said before hair can be tricky to do right in games but as long as it dosen't come out looking all helmet heady I'll be fine with it. It dosen't look all helmet heady to me atm so hopefully that'll continue. It would have been nice if they'd have delivered this in DAI but they didn't most likely due to the fact it needed to be toned down for the old gen but at least it looks like MEA will at least attempt to make up for DAI's shortcomings

I really want to link my PC to either Valentine Tereshkova, or Roberta Bondar, and for me that is sort of a part of the charm of this particular game. I think it is more important to create the PC you like than worry about what other people may think about the name you picked.

It would have been nice if they'd have delivered this in DAI but they didn't most likely due to the fact it needed to be toned down for the old gen but at least it looks like MEA will at least attempt to make up for DAI's shortcomings I'll appreciate whatever BW can do to improve hair. Even if it just a few strands moving slightly, or even only in cut scenes, I'll be a happy lady.

Ian S. Frazier @tibermoon Dammit, Outlook, "finaling" is a real word in the games industry. Stop trying to make the team "finagle" MEA!
