Jos @sjoszToday was a good day for productivity. I will always want to get twice as much work done as I reasonably can, but I am pleased with today. <<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>> LOL. My most difficult task was to keep my desk clean at the end of the day. Somehow, after you get married, the day became shorter.

In Eurogamer's interview with Peter Moore, they had this unintentionally funny tidbit... www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-08-18-eas-peter-moore-im-not-sure-video-game-press-conferences-have-a-futureEurogamer: Back at E3 you guys showed a pretty broad range of things, we had smaller projects in the vein of Unravel, a look at Mass Effect, Star Wars... If not at gamescom, when might we hear more about those other projects?Moore: Well... first of all I'm here to speak about competitive gaming, really. But secondly, if you're a Mass Effect fan you know what BioWare does - they're like the chef cooking in the kitchen for as long as it takes. We leave them alone, the game's still on target, and I'd say six, seven months out you'll begin to hear more.- Hmm... sooo... we'll begin to hear more about the game the day it's released?

He's just confusing the release date with when the information is supposed to start rolling out (this fall).

Good to know EA is kinda leaving them alone to do their thing though. <<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>> Bio keeps contact with EA at least on a weekly basis (read that somewhere). Having managed complex projects, weekly updates this far out from game launch is unusual. Or, perhaps it is, due to the game being delayed, once. We all work/worked in a hierarchical command structure. Senior management does not like surprises that hit the revenue forecast or cost projections.

I think that BioWare is cooking up their secret IP (I think that this should've gone in the Secret IP twitter thread) and we'll start hearing about that in 6 or 7 months. Seven months from now is March. It doesn't take time to make the assets, put them in game, and test the game. What does take time is to do it correctly and polish up the extremely rough edges.
So, I think that this will be a banner year for EA if all goes swimmingly. A one, two, three, four punch if TF2, BF1, ME:A, and the secret IP all come out close together and are as big of hits as they expect them to be.
EDIT : As a matter of fact, might be a good time to look into buying EA's stock.

Sort of. lol It would actually be precipitated by agonizing weeks of "Are they even going to release the game this quarter?" cus of course it'd be released on the last possible day. But still. Instant gratification if it was released the day it was actually announced. Might make it worth it?

Jos@Sjosz For the work I'm doing right now, I'm having to reach out to a lot of my co-workers in various departments. I am lucky to work with them.
Jos@Sjosz Collaboration, communication, and it being okay to ask questions that you might think are dumb is so very important.
Jos@Sjosz A for instance: Today I learned there is a property flag on placed enemies that toggles an important value override. I never knew.
Jos@Sjosz Had I not asked one of the gameplay designers about it, I wouldn't have known, and wrestled with the issues not knowing that causes longer.
Jos@Sjosz If you are an aspiring developer, don't be afraid to ask questions. I'm over a decade into my career & I need to ask questions all the time.
Jos@Sjosz Asking questions is hard, but it is a necessary part of the process. Everyone is better for asking questions.
Jos@Sjosz And, importantly, you asking a question may lead to realization on others' parts that some things could be better, clearer, explained.

ME Remaster: Well, yesss, Soderlund. There is a market for a remaster. I'm just nobody. I don't have analytics and whatnot, but I do have eyeballs. I could see the fans begging for this 2 years ago. Sure, it's anecdotal and not necessarily representative of a larger market....except it actually was representative. It was obvious. On the BSN at least....
MGS Comparison: Please no?
Moore on..whatever it is he's talking about, Idk if he knows what he's talking about. And that does not instill confidence in me.

And that does not instill confidence in me. except that those fans that were begging for a ME re-master are minuscule compared to EA's total player base. not to mention that developers that re-master their games aren't usually developing multiple games at once like BW has been doing for a couple of years now. re-mastering an 8 year old game takes an enormous amount of recourses and time. and most fans would gladly see BW spend those recourses and time on new games, instead of rethreading old ground. the best outcome would be for EA to outsource the re-master to a dedicated team that can invest all of their effort into it.
