I wonder: with the next Mass Effect news probably being two years away is it time for an intervention or is it healthy to come here everyday to look for new infos?
That damn trilogy surely has made me obsessed with ME...
"The original plan was to have a bunch of hand-crafted critical path worlds (the ones that made it into the final game), but also a near-infinite number of non-critical procedurally generated planets where players could fight bad guys, hunt for resources, find items, and so on. One of the technical goals was even to have a seamless transition from planet to spaceship (and vice versa) without needing a loading screen. Frostbite deals with large open world maps pretty well (as shown in Inquisition), but procedurally generated environments are a different beast altogether. The procedural content generation turned out to be an iceberg feature and just kept growing in size until it had consumed far more resources than it should have."
Well...maybe in 5-10 years time this idea would be feasible or at least have a better understanding on what kind of scope this is; if there even is another game. I think this would have been cool for a couple of planets, but the concern is how do keep making things feel new? If No Man's Sky can do with their small studio (granted they had the backing of Sony, but still), I don't see why BioWare Montreal couldn't pull this off; they have more employees and the backing of EA. Sure, that was NMS only thing they had to do as opposed to hand-crafted worlds on top of that. I'm not even sure I want that in M.E. experience.

I don't ever want procedurally generated worlds in Mass Effect. I'd rather they go for a blend of ME1, 2 and Andromeda. Get a few core planets to land on and explore a large map (like Elaadan), get a whole bunch of smaller planets to run around on (such as H-0174c) and a lot of single area missions (ME2). That would be the perfect blend of mission types.
Mass Effect Trilogy, Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2, Dragon Age Inquisition, KOTOR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect Andromeda, SWTOR, Anthem, Mass Effect Legendary Edition

Little things like the above will keep me coming back and still get rewarded from time to time, even if ME news aren't likely in the near future.
I'd recommend to drop by every couple of weeks or so. (That's what I'm gonna do). That way it's less irritating than daily, and a little bit of tweets, news or discussion usually happened in between.

Maybe the problem was that it's a crappy vision. Bio realized it before they shipped, but the NMS guys went through with it.

... Was there actually more to NMS than "it's a procedurally generated universe"? I didn't play it, but from what I heard the biggest complaint was that there really wasn't much to do there aside from landing on planets and gathering resources.
“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.”

You've summed up NMS in a nutshell. Though, they've added 30 hrs of gameplay since launch. I don't play NMS either, so I don't really know what that means.
