Really? Dying Drell....again. IKR? Intentional plague ship is so cliche, too. Color me disappointed. There are so many other ways the Ark could have gone astray: * PIRATES vs. Drell ninjas. I mean, that book just writes itself.* Nav malfunction and the ark is stuck in the Big Dark, or better yet, in the Greater Magellenic Cloud, but they THINK they're in Andromeda! Ho boy, the astronomical hijinks that would have created: "You, sir, don't know a parsec from a megasecond!" * Some hanar stowaway thinks he's Blasto and wrecks the ship's nav by accident and sends it down a wormhole, ending up in a galaxy-sized entity that demands entertainment to relieve it's gigayear long ennui. A mixed crew re-enacts some of Blasto's greatest adventures. (In Act 3, the enraged entity gets ready to destroy the ship, only to be destroyed instead by a recitation of elcor poetry.) It's not that hard! I think I need this book in my life.

I am quoting what the author of Annihilation said on reddit... "Hi guys, Catherynne Valente here. You may remember me from such things as that press release you just read.
I just wanted to say that while I'm as disappointed as you are, if not more, that DLC hasn't manifested, I will be doing my absolute best to bring to life every bit of the ME universe I can and tie it into a satisfying bow for you guys.
I am a huge fan of Mass Effect, and under my incognito account, an active member of this sub. I wanted to write this novel so badly. I sought out the contract and auditioned and campaigned for it. The day Bioware and I had our first meeting some 18 months ago was one of the happiest of my life as a writer. So rest assured that the Quarian ark is in the hands of a fan as obsessive as you are. I can't talk about plot or what is or isn't included beyond what Bioware has made public, but I was given permission to work with some of my favorite parts of the canon, and as I told them ages ago, if I had gotten to pick what story to write for ME, it would have been this one.
Please also understand that this actually isn't a cash grab or anything like that, no matter what I've heard people say. No one is trying to screw the fans. I was hired to write this almost two years ago, it was always planned, simply delayed for reasons I know you're all aware of, since, you know, I lurk here a lot. The amount of time and energy I have poured into this project is more than I can calculate. This is a labor of love, and while we all might wish that it was a labor of love with accompanying DLC, none of us have much control over that, and it doesn't change the nature of a book that was always my little-kid-crayon-hearts love letter to Mass Effect.
I got you, fam.
savethequarians"I feel bad for her..but June? Who's gonna care about this book and or Mass Effect in general by then? If they care about it at all with the way BioWare handled it's post launch support. There missing an opportunity by not releasing on N7 Day. That might be the only time where there might a be surge in the fandom and from casual fans alike. It can't have been planned, if the original release was way back in September.

Didn't get my Quarian Ark DLC... but hey, at least I get my Quarian Ark book! Because I would so much rather read about a video game that I love instead of play it. EA, please die in a fire.

Catherynne Valente @catvalente For those who are angry about this development: this book has been in the works for 18 months. It was always planned. She's referenced this before in the past but it still seems...odd. Why reference something in-game that will only be resolved through media outside of the game? Is there a precedence for this for BioWare in previous games? I don't think so but I don't remember. So, if this was planned prior to the game's release and controversial reception, why would it take almost two years to write and why was it initially positioned as the first book released? Some points are just not adding up... It was never positioned as the first book (that was always Nexus Uprising), but it was slated for a summer 2017 release. No idea what would've to change though, because the Novel won't have anything to do with our Pathfinder and with the future up in the air, there is also no certain point where you've got to get the story to.

The story would've set up the DLC, much like Nexus Uprising set up the game. I expect they've pushed it back to incorporate more chapters to give a more satisfying conclusion and return the Keelah Si'yah to the Nexus.

I'm going to read the book next year, because I want to know what happens to the Quarian Ark. It's certainly not in the shape or form we all wanted it to be, but at least I'm getting answers in a year rather than in another 5+ years.

Clearly the Batarian multiplayer dude was orginally designed to be part of the DLC.
I might pick up the novel, but I'm more interested in the Benefactor storyline getting resolved. Did any 'news' come out of the Discovery comics?

Ok, who thinks having meetings on a Friday afternoon is a good idea ever? Many years/jobs ago, Friday was the official company-wide no-meetings day. But, after about a year, people realized that holidays and long weekends often started on Friday's, and so making Friday the no- meeting day was sub-optimal. So Wednesday was made no-meeting day and that worked remarkably well. Everyone could count on having a day to focus on hands-on work in the middle of the week, and leave Monday's and Fridays for figuring out what to do or what was done, respectively.

Haven't spend 5 euro worse in a long time. Rushed story with no new info. I replied to your post, here it is too: I've read it. The only 'new' thing I discovered was that the telescope used by the Geth consisted of three Mass Relays they moved to one spot. The Quarian got the coordinates and they gave it to the Initiative. After the Turian dude got dishonarable discharge he joined, noting he still didn't know anything about the Benefactors and other mysteries surrounding the Initiative but that he was OK with that. He trusted Jien Garson. The End.

I didn't want to create a new thread just for this, so I'm going to ask this here: Is it confirmed that there will be no sequel to Mass Effect: Andromeda? The only thing we know for sure is that ME is on hiatus. So nothing happening in the immediate future at least. Apart from that, they really haven't hinted one way or the other. They may not know themselves yet.
