Romance options speculation (Official Thread)

But according to your logic, there should be more female than male companions and more male than female romance options, because there had always been more female romances and male companions in former Mass Effect games. I'd rather have the ratio balanced, both from the companions as well as from the romances point of view...

Scott better have more male options than just Liam. I've always been peturbed that gay players get 2-3 characters to pick from while straight players get 4-6. Like, dude.

I do not think that they going back to the ME1 ... it would be a shame. And sad.

We don't even know if Liam is available for Scott so...


2-3?  We've never had more than two in a single ME or DA game, and in fact our current total LIs for the DA and ME series so far is:

DAO: 1,  DA2: 2,  DAI: 2,  ME1: 0,  ME2: 0,  ME3: 2.

This gives gay male players a current average of 1.17 LIs per game.

Yeah, if we look at all of the Bioware games with LI's, we've got these stats:

BG2: 0, KOTOR: 0, JE: 1, ME1: 0, DAO: 1, ME2: 0, DA2: 2, SWTOR: 1, ME3: 2, DAI: 2

So that means that the real cumulative stat is 9 LI's across 10 games or 0.9 options on average. 

Compare this with the straight guy numbers:

BG2: 3, KOTOR: 1, JE: 2, ME1: 2, DAO: 2, ME2: 3, DA2: 2, SWTOR: 13 (you read that right.....), ME3: 6, DAI: 2

For a total of 36 LI's across 10 games or 3.6 options on average.  If you discount SWTOR (which you shouldn't), then 24 across 9 games or 2.67 options on average.

All that being said, I feel totally confident that we'll get two options for gay Scott.  At least one human and then another (maybe a second human or an alien).

@massbass eh, that wouldn't make much sense to have Pee-Bee be "straight" or for men only... I'm under the impression that asari, while maybe having preferences for race, are gender blind when it comes to sexual romantic interest. Even if that wasn't the case, they're all the same gender and have procreated since their beginnings effectively making them "lesbian" by human definitions. So making Pee-bee strictly for men is like, huh!? Smash the patriarchy! ...what?

Yea it was just a fun guess that I made there. Note that in the second list I made it clear that she'll very likely be Bi. 
The idea of her being straight stems from the fact that one of the devs talked about her as showing the culture of the Asari by being the antithesis to Asari culture much like dorian was to Tevinter in inquisition so my making her straight would go against as you said that in the beginnings, Asari were lesbians as they only had themselves and against the fact that Asari relationships are majorly mental rather than majorly physical.
It can also be explained that once Asari have started interacting with different races that have more the one gender, some Asari have developed preferences to who they specifically want their partners to be.
But I concede to the fact that her being straight is highly unlikely and that she will either be bi or not available for romance.

But all gay romance options in swtor are only available via subscription or dlc. There's no gay romance option in the original game.

Yeah, I counted Theron. I didn't realize Koth was a m/m romance too, so that number should be 2. I didn't count Cytharat because he doesn't have the 'this response will begin a romance' warning at all, so I just view him as a 'flirt' option and not a real romance.
