I'm expecting no concessions for mouse/keyboard. What ships on PS4/Xbox is what ships on PC (just remapped) is my expectation. Clearly folk have questions, I hope we'll know more 'soon'... I think it's less questions and more desire to know if Me:A combat system has been crippled even before launch with no discernible purpose or reason. I’m sorry if this post comes out a little aggressive, but I become a little concerned when an RPG I love is turned more and more in an FPS… just saying. yea hthe power limit combined with the no pause to target concerns me a fair bit too I don't mind the power limitations as it'll just encourage me to be moer clever with how I use my powers but no pausing to be able to aim them properly like I could in the trilogy could be a problem. But we'll have to wait and see how this works I guess.

Does the jetpack take up one of those slots, or are the controls for the new movement abilities separate? If they don't then I'm more than fine with it. I suspect the jetpack will just be linked with the jump button.

They could have mapped that many, which is why it was such an issue for a game like DA:I. And I agree, 3 would be absurd for SP. Maybe "Eh, 3 powers is fine" is one of the lessons they learned from MP that they were talking about. If so that's incredibly stupid. The fun parts of MP were all the cool new powers, not the ability cap. Even without a power wheel they could have at least 4 powers. A controller has 14 buttons, not counting start and select. That's plenty for 8 powers, as DA:I shows, if they really are determined to drop the pause and aim/power wheel. I'll go ahead and bring up the other tangential issue with that last design choice, which is that ME:A will not be playable for some fans with certain disabilities, of which I know there were some just on BSN Prime. Not sure why they feel the need to ditch the wheel instead of letting people play at their own pace. It won't be an issue for me personally (though I used to be garbage at shooting when I started playing ME and needed pause all the time for aim), but for some this will really lower their enjoyment for no apparent gain anywhere else. It's not only powers not being available on the wheel to make it unplayable for people with certain disabilities, but the lack of an aim feature on pause as well. I do hope they'll bring it back for those people, in the future. yeah that's kind of why I liked the pause and aim features in these games as it allows me to use my powers where I need them most in the trilogy.

So far as I know, the mapping is limited because of multiplayer. Because controllers have a very limited number of key bindings, you must limit the computer users as well IF you intend multiplayer to be cross-platform. Otherwise computer users will have an advantage over their console multiplayer counterparts. true but PC p[layers generally only end up plasying other PC players as each system runs on it's own network XBox1 on Xbox live PS4 on PS plus and PC on Origin.

It's quite simple: the game is balanced around multiplayer with a game pad. If you want chocies, get to the back of the bus. Which kinda sucks as I don't play BioWare games for multiplayer part and with gamepad.. But I still have hope for some better options for PC gamers P.S. Heh people were complaining about having ''only'' 8 active abilities in DAI so now we have 3.. me neither I play them for good single player experiences

Yeah the three skills only limit is the only red flag I have about the game so far. The only red flag I have is the possibility of no pause to aim because being disabled I do use that a lot when accessing my powers in the trilogy so I can fire them off accurately

Earlier in the thread there were some speculations that perhaps the 3 ability limit is only on low level players or that the PC will have access to a different set of 3 abilities with the push of a button. Well. This picture all but confirms that at any one time the player only has access to a "loadout" (what a dumb term, these are supposed to be skills and abilities, not weapons, you don't "load" your skills in your brain) of three abilities only. How very disappointing Bioware, I find it very hard to get excited about practically anything connected to ME:A knowing that combat is going to be extremely hampered by this idiotic restriction. We don't know the level cap yet. If Level 27 is out of thirty then I definitley agree but then if the level cap is one hundred then there might be room, so the theory is not disproven yet. But if the level is one hundred, then this could still work. Now I doubt it will work this way but its too early to dismiss it entirely out of hand either.

Because they are not ready to show it off yet or didn't feel that the CES show or their other venues were the proper places to do so yes. As for why they made that decision in the first place I don't know, you'll have to ask someone WAY above my paygrade. But they have intimated more then once, on twitter, and this forum, that their is more to the active powers and more to the profile things then we have currently seen. Now I have more then one theory working on what exactly that entails but the point is there is going to be some way where we can change up these load outs. We also know they have not shown us everything in the UI(s) yet. Like when the 'weapon's wheel' had locked off sections on it.

There is literally no reason to present something in such a misleading way if the 3 ability limit is not true, in fact it would be outright dumb precisely because it has the potential to cause potential consumers to decide that they don't like what they see. The only reason to show this would be if the final game was similar. MAYBE they will add that some powers have a "charging" ability, but that still changes the mechanic itself very little. I'm not grasping at straws I am repeating what I have heard from the devs about the game. That there is more to show. After the trailer too I was kind of dissapointing too, but, we have more information coming up so all we can have is to wait and see and then react. And they already have shown us that some abilities have a charging mechanic. I do think, by the way, we are going to get to use three powers at any one time, but I suspect...again from what I have personally been told...that they will focus on us being able to easily switch between load outs. Hopefully without going through the pause menu to do it.

Well that won't be happening in combat for certain (and if it is, it makes the whole thing even more dumb, just give us access directly, without "switching"). At most it will be a similar mechanic to DA:I. And this isn't really enough to make this any better. I mean, my assumption from the start was that it would be similar to DA:I. Based on what we've seen I think the best we can hope for is that the dpad allows you to quickly switch between profiles during combat. This would at least let us combo off powers in separate profiles. I doubt it will happen tho.

Let's hope they do soon as I've goto admit trying to use powers on fly could be difficult for me. with no pause to aim. I know that in DAI your powers just hit the person you were attacking so there it wasn't a problem here I'm not so sure

I think that's more about wanting to present the system on their own terms and put a positive spin on it, rather than having any surprises up their sleeve. I hope I'm wrong tho.

I think making the SP mode the same as MP more is behind this more then the gamepad. All DA games shown you can map more then three powers anyway. You *can*, but it's easier with 3. My point is that they have done this before. If the reason was simply problem with the gamepad they already had the solution, already implemented with the Frosbite as well. I don't think it'd have been that hard to implement it in Andromeda. I still think it's more about MP, especially because they said something about making the two modes closer.

It's got nothing to do with gamepads. I played the trilogy on a gamepad and had access to all powers. DAI on the gamepad had 8 powers hotkeyed. This is a conscious design decision to align with MP, pure and simple. With 3 abilities it's much easier for gamepad users. It also makes the play-style similar to games like Overwatch and Destiny. Making it similar to other games makes more sense to me. I don't remember anyone complaining about the mappable powers in DA games as hard or difficult to use.
