From the twitter thread:
Simon @simonjadis
not sure if you can answer, but does switching power loadouts "on the fly" include doing so during combat?
Ian S. Frazier@tibermoon
Yes. More in our next vid.

Apparently, you can. I just posted in CSI:BSN. Nice find! That's - sadly - no hotkey, it's a menu and such stuff is fiddly if you have to use it in combat without pausing (!) I want a hotkey (I have plenty on this niffty keyboard of mine after all!) greetings LAX

I want a hotkey (I have plenty on this niffty keyboard of mine after all!) greetings LAX It should also be safe to assume that how it's handled with a controller is different than how it's handled with a keyboard. Inquisition you were limited to four abilities per profile that you swapped with a hotkey, but on PC, you had access to all eight. So while we may not have 12 abilities ready to be hotkeyed, we might have six ready to go with the other six ready at the press of a button, or we could swap profiles on the fly similarly, with 1-3 being used for the abilities, and then something like 4-7 being used to change to each specific profile without pulling up the weapon menu.

On PC the profile switching can probably be on F1, F2, F3 and F4. A very simple solution.

(I still think having a classic hotbar would have been better, but at least it's not as restricted as I assumed) Me too, just press a button and magic happens. Simple and efficient. Maybe i will get used to it over time, or someone will/could mod the game. Hope there is no cooldown between switching profiles.

You can remap keys even in botched af ME PC ports, so i see no reason that MEA would remove this since they figured the whole PC thing. As a Naga owner myself i would like to assign every skill to a separate button, of course, and i hope the whole profile switching is for controllers.

What was the last game on PC you couldn't remap keys on? For Console the System is a good solution, but I hope we can map more than 3 Abilities at once on PC.

There you can do pretty much anything.

Yup, looks like no switching during combat. So for single encounter you are locked to 3 powers. Why would you come to that conclusion based on the video we just saw?!? Anyway, it's now been confirmed via twitter that switching profiles during combat is possible. Apparently the next video will show us more.

You could edit the ini files or use the software for your mouse and keyboard, but within the game you had "Press spacebar for everything".

From the twitter thread: Simon @simonjadis not sure if you can answer, but does switching power loadouts "on the fly" include doing so during combat? Ian S. Frazier@tibermoon Yes. More in our next vid. Finally, a direct answer. Hallelujah. Do you have the source so I can post it as an update in the original post? NVM found it. I think they simply used fly and field to meant that, but yeah, at least this is over. Not we'll have to see how the system works. I hope not, especially if you can't remap the keys. I got a 19 button mouse for a reason. What was the last game on PC you couldn't remap keys on? For Console the System is a good solution, but I hope we can map more than 3 Abilities at once on PC. Doubtful. They're grouped in different sets with different profiles bonuses, if you wish to do so. I don't know how it's work if you simply map every power to a diferrent keys.

So are people still going to complain knowing we basically have 9 abilities at out fingertips? The number is actually 12, or 15. It wasn't clear if the current loadout get swapped in the favourite that takes its place. I think the system might get criticized if when pressing X/whatever key you open up the full menu instead of a small popup where you can pick the loadout you want, but I personally think it's good. We have access to more abilities then before.

I was just thinking there would be an extra arrow key for something else.

So are people still going to complain knowing we basically have 9 abilities at out fingertips? We'll have twelve. Or, if your favorites list can be independent of what combination of abilities you currently have mapped, 16. More than likely, it'll be 12. As of now, I'm more concerned/curious as to how squad abilities will work.

Taking this with a grain of salt, but shinobi said the gameplay series is weekly based, so we'll get the answer next week.

Has pause and play been confirmed at all? You can pause to switch weapons, add ammo to weapons, also accessing favorites and other features. I don't think we can rotate the camera on pause and aim to hit though.

The dpad seems like the last possible part of the controller that could be used to issue squad commands in real time. If it's set up solely for profile switching then I'm worried that squad commands will be limited to DA style companion AI presets. There's still the mystery of why a prompt for the dpad down button flashed on the screen in the Jan 4 Nvidia trailer. That doesn't seem to fit with the idea that all dpad buttons are profile hotkeys.

Anyway, it's now been confirmed via twitter that switching profiles during combat is possible. Apparently the next video will show us more. Well, they could just lock out an ability that is already mapped to another profile and be done with it (no cooldown on switching needed)...I hope abilities cool down while on a not currently active profile (just like guns with the ME1-System (Vintage-Heatsink) should...if you switch guns the gun you were using should cool down without you having to use a kind of "trigger cooldown via reload-button" animation etc. I also hope that PC isn't as limited (sorry for console players, but we have the better input devices and a ton more buttons), so profile-switching for consoles and more abilities directly accessable for PC greetings LAX ps: I'd like to know why they don't show the differences between the systems (it kind of feels like all they've shown so far is on console - except for that 4K stuff (consoles can't handle that, hell most PCs can't handle 4K consistently without problems (frame-drops. freezes etc.) - mine can't...I don't even have a 4K screen )
