Sibling to Have Their Own Unique Squad

I agree, Carver was my favorite companion since I had him from the very beginning. I wish it had been possible to always keep him, for combat purposes at least. I preferred him to Aveline or Fenris.

Funny enough, I never played mage, so I always had Bethany and never Carver.  And I liked her character a lot too.  It added something to the final showdown with your sister as a mage.  I thought this was overall handled well.  Onscreen for awhile at the beginning, then offscreen for most of the game with a few cameos, then shows up at the end with the assist. 

In general I also like that Hawke had family ties.  Its such a cliche that every hero has to have their family wiped out or be an orphan or whatever.  The developers don't want to pigeonhole you into anything so they write no family into it.  Then with DA2 they put in way more family intrigue then you'd usually see.  I thought it was a super cool touch when your mom comments on your LI, for example.

Bringing this back to MEA, I hope they do something cool with the offscreen sibling, but I'm not particular about how.  Just don't make them a cliche tragic death or shove them almost immediately into the background as irrelevant.

True, they did play a little hamfisted with the Hawke family.  I was along for the ride til they messed with mom in that over the top segment.  That jumped the shark for me. 

And I do remember the Shep background that keeps family alive and I specifically remember that it was almost never used.  Not surprising given that it would apply to only a smallish segment of players, I'll grant.  Lesson there is probably have the family or don't, but making it optional is bound to be unsatisfying.

I wish our sibling could have their own crew to go out there and explore as well, but I seriously doubt it. 
I believe they'll be crippled the entire game, unfortunately.

Extend my wish to our father as well, so we'll be able to have conversations with him throughout the story, but most likely he will be captured, killed or be left in a vegetative state at the start.

I do hope I'm wrong.

If I were the betting sort I would pay good money that you are wrong. 

God I hope not seriously whats BWares deal with Siblings either they kill them or take them away which sucks the appropriate amount of ass in my opionion.

they can't die according to Walters. But there might be in an accident.

the way that I have always understood it is that the sibling who was late to be de-thawed, that something happens that they are somehow permanently that they can't for whatever reason leave the ship to go out on missions. Though I know that might be a stretch but, that is how I understood it is that something happened to cause sibling being late of unthawing/waking up and is disabled and stuck on the ship

I most certainly hope not.  I don't think it will be this because they said the sibling would be there in the universe throughout the game. In what capactiy, I don't know. But I doubt we'll have to make that kind of choice.
