I mean that profiles have more powerful levels that unlock as you invest skill points in the applicable disciplines. But my God, so many options! The RPG gameplay elements are definitely there. Can't wait to sink my teeth into this game. I know right? I might spend a lot of points at first just to ge the first tier of every skill, to get a feel for each of them. And Once I make up my mind, respec and choose the best ones. Because I keep switching between favorite skills in my mind every hour

Hey, fellow skill-o-philes, do we have any detailed information on charge and nova yet? Nova seems like a primer, which is pretty odd for such a skill. I'd think detonator seems more up it's alley. But anyway, maybe it's like shockwave where it suspends enemies in the air for a short time. And what's up with it having a cooldown? It no longer uses up your barrier? That's a shame, as it made it a very niche skill. But then again, seeing as you can slap on any profile and skill now, and it wouldn't work with profiles which use shields. Also, it'sd be REALLY cool if nova changes primer or detonator baased on how it's used. Eg, if it's performed from the air, it's a detonator, if it's performed from the ground, it's a primer. But that's probably a bit too cool I wouldn't hold my breath. Charge is a detonator, but we know next to nothing about it's additional functionalities. I'm really curious for it. Can it also become a primer? That'd be great! EDIT: I know I keep spamming this thread with builds, but it's just so interesting (and a slow day at the office...) So, I've added some playstyles that I have in my mind right now, for others to be inspired (or criticise). Enjoy! This is also probably the order in which I'll invest in skills. I'll probably use a modded revenant with the overload mechanism, and a chargable shotgun. 1-profile playstyle Explorer overload turbocharge charge 2-profile playstyle Vanguard nova charge throw Infiltrator overload cryo beam turbocharge 3-profile playstyle Vanguard nova charge throw Infiltrator tactical cloak turbocharge lance sentinel cryo beam annihilation field overload 4-profile playstyle Vanguard nova charge throw Infiltrator tactical cloak turbocharge lance Engineer Incinerate Overload Shield drain Sentinel cryo beam annihilation field remnant VI

Its like that scab that you can't help but pick at. I know the game is going to be good and that all will be revealed when it comes out, but instead of waiting for the wound to heal, I just keep picking at the bugger

Yes it seems you can definitely spec abilities rather or not you won't them to be primers or detonators. In one image shockwave is only a detonator, but in the other it's both

In one image shockwave is only a detonator, but in the other it's both Some abilities are at least one of either prime or detonator, BUT there are some upgrades that either make them more proficient at their respective attribute regarding prime/detonate OR there could possibly be upgrades that could make them one of each. I was looking throw the gameplay video and I can't find an example. Am I going crazy? I thought for sure there were upgrades for primers and detonators.

Shockwave only sometimes has both. Sometimes it only has a detonator insignia. Which probably means that you can spec it as a primer further down the line.

That's a shame, as it made it a very niche skill. SNIP You know as much as any of us right now, I think. I did also notice that Nova seems to be a potential primer, which suggests that it's now primarily a damage-dealer plus control power (as it knocks down even shielded enemies). It has a cooldown because they seem to be trying to get away from skill spam in general, and Vanguard on 200% cooldown bonus + upgraded Charge + Half Nova was the definition of spam. Not to mention that most enemies literally couldn't kill you. Hard to balance around that on any difficulty, especially since all the classes would have access to it now. Plus I think they're trying to find ways of making Combat skills more distinguishable and/or appealing, and many of those have no cooldowns (just limited consumables).

This used to be the case in ME3 of course, but I haven't seen it in ME:A for particular skills. You can see it in passives, though, like level 3 and 5 of Offensive Biotics.

You can rank up profiles from 1 to 5-6, based on how many points you spent in the three skill trees. I say 5-5 because I saw the explorer profile at rank 4 with the possibility of going to rank 5, I didn't see going towards rank 6, but I might've missed it.

Attachment DeletedIDK, maybe the differences we see in some abilities have to do with older vs newer builds. Maybe they're just experimenting...
