Far Beyond Driven might be my favorite Pantera album. Phil is kind of a douche though and he was always the worst thing about that band. Other than that, the music was always great.

Dark Fortress, post black metal

Turned my Sirius back on yesterday, and they had a welcome back present for me during my commute this morning:

I like Testament a lot but they never got real popular because of being overshadowed by other bands like Metallica and Slayer. Stuff is still good and they're putting out their best music in recent years.

Been a fan of theirs since I heard Zero Signal in Mortal Combat.

Same here. I still say it's their best song to this day.

I liked their Mechanize album a lot. Thought it was a good return to their old school stuff since the Transgression album before it was pretty disappointing to me. Dino was back in the band and Gene Hoglan was on drums which made it super sweet.

Steve Tucker did promise it would be a pure death metal album. I liked David Vincent back in the day but he doesn't sound as good to me like he used to (he's doing some country music now from what I heard) Gateways was a great album and had some of the slower, more doom sounding songs which I like better than the full on speed. Plus they had Erik Rutan on guitar and I find his solos more enjoyable than Trey's (same deal with the Domination album.) My only complaint about that album though is the drums. They sound way too over-triggered and fake but other than that it's pretty awesome.
