Idea. There's a brothel, but use of it requires microtransactions, allowing you and your character to get screwed simultaneously.

There should be a brothel, just so the foley artists get some work.

Brothels should not be necessary in the ME franchise. Instead people should configure and order their personal sex bot from the extranet. Problem solved! But will there be Fornax in Andromeda? I think not, at least not unless we have a volus trader to sell us back issues.

This thread Nothing wrong with a brothel conceptually, though it sits more easily in the Dragon Age setting in my view. Logically, a 'frontier' port, as seen on Kadara may have one or more. Whether the plot takes Ryder in there, or whether any brothel has prime 'street front' is a matter of writing and is neither necessary nor unnecessary. If there is a brothel I would expect it to cater for all requirements. But given that Ryder is hardly going to be short of companionship, it may simply not be 'needed'. Has to be said, the 'nug option' was my favorite in the Pearl... Brothers don't suit Mass Effect any worse than Dragon Age. Where you have people, you have people having sex. Where you have people having sex, you have people with needs and fetishes they're uncomfortable with sharing with every day people, in and out of relationships. When you have people with out of the ordinary needs and fetishes that need to be fulfilled, you will have people who're willing to accommodate for a fee. When you have people who want sex for the least amount of hassle possible, you will have those willing to accommodate for a fee. When you have people with varying levels of anxiety wanting to have sex, you will have someone to accommodate them and their feelings for a fee. You don't need to be a frontier space to have a brothel. Swingers clubs and swingers parties are everywhere. Prostitution, legal and illegal, is everywhere. Any setting revolving around people and social interactions, be it Middle Earth, modern Earth, or space, it'd fit unless it's one of those settings where everyone has evolved beyond baser needs and urges.

The Witcher 3 did that maybe Bioware can learn from a play through of it Just because CDPR did something doesn't mean Bioware has to do it...and earlier in this thread, Serza actually expressed some thoughts on why they shouldn't do it and I'm inclined to agree.

I'm only in favour of brothels if you can kill the pimps. It's good in Fallout 3 when you kill that piece of shit Moriarty.

I want brothels too. With exotic alien employees. Heh. But seriously, I want to see really seedy, crime infested areas. A brothel fits in this case. Hell yeah!

Of course there will be straight options for men in our hypothetical unprecedented imaginary brothel.
But they'll all have strong jawlines. And short hair. And will act, like, not cute and stuff. THE HORROR!

Of course there will be straight options for men in our hypothetical unprecedented imaginary brothel. But they'll all have strong jawlines. And short hair. And will act, like, not cute and stuff. THE HORROR! ME1 had a brothel, so it's not unprecedented. I don't consider Shaira and friends a brothel, for the reasons already discussed to death in this thread. She was more a high class courtesan (with sex being one of many options if one pays for her time) and the other girls seemed to play a role similar to that of geisha in Japan - they were there for entertainment, conversation, and so on. It's never confirmed they provide sex. Regardless, we the player did not have the option to hire them like we did in the first two DA games - selection menu included. Considering we're talking content options for players of various orientations, I get the impression that is the type of brothel the OP (and others) are hoping for. For that, specifically, there is no precedent in ME. Personally, I find the brothel thing a juvenile form of titillation that takes up resources I'd prefer be used elsewhere. That said, if there is one, whatever. I'll got there if a mission demands it but it's not something I'll ever use.

Alright, I'll just shoot the question: I'll play the female Ryder sibling. With a straight orientation. Will there be a brothel for players like me? Or will the strip clubs be restricted to please the male audience? (And where oh where is our male desire demon in DA? There's even artwork of it out there already. I'm tired of seeing only naked demons with their titties and their shaved... groin out.) Why do you assume that the evil male audience is against male Desire demons or eye candy for female players? (personally, for Desire demons, the coolest idea IMO would be a different looking Desire Demon depending on your character, perhaps by choosing your preference somewhere to let the game know, or according to your romance or something, they can also represent other things, such as riches, power, knowledge, etc.) Er...I don't? I only asked why there are no male desire demons. I didn't infer anything about the game's audience, you know. It strikes me as odd, since it's only natural this peculiar kind of demon would pick up the sexual fantasies of both gay men and straight women and change into a form that would appeal to their tastes. Instead, the way there are only naked female demons parading around, it's as if everyone in Thedas is either a gay lady or a straight dude. Which means straight Thedosian men couldn't actually have sex with Thedosian women. lol And btw, I agree with your idea there. For example, I would've liked to see a nice, male demon tempting my Solona during that quest to save Connor. That would've presented an actual challenge to me. Screw the sexy demon or save a child's soul? I don't know if I could do the right thing as I stared at them strong, finely chiseled biceps...

Me personally I think if they're going to do a brothel on the game, they should take notes from Witcher 3 to improve mini sex scenes and introduce nudity on a brothel for once.

There isn't going to be a brothel. Let's just get that out of the way. Zero chance of happening.
That said, just for the sake of discussion let's assume for a moment that there would be one. I'd hope they'd spent resources developing the location & the characters within to be more than just the player character exchanging credits for a lame cutscene or fade-to-black with some nameless and forgettable character. Otherwise, the brothel is completely pointless and a waste of time and development resources.
Anyone watch Westworld? If there was going to be a brothel, I hope there'd be a character at least as developed as Westworld's Maeve, with a quest (or a chain of them) associated with the brothel or with one of the people working there.

In DAO you character could go either way or both if you romance more then one person. Same with DA2.

Why are some people so fixated on brothels every time an RPG comes out? MAI IMERSION they say. Which never made sense to me. How many gamers' lives actually include sex with prostitutes? Do they live in areas where there are just brothels on every street corner, right across from the grocery store? Can you really not be satisfied or immersed if there are no visible brothels in a game? It's like some randy twelve-year-old's vision of what the "real world" is like. Maybe BioWare should include a realistic brothel, where it's clear that the employees are poor and exploited, and there either because they have no other choice or were victims of sex trafficking. I'm sure the "brothel crowd" would love how it added to their immersion.
