Choosing Squadmates for Missions

I always try to bring the characters who make the most sense for a particular mission. I try to base it off of the narrative, so it's different on almost every mission. For random side quests where it doesn't have a connection to any particular character, I bring the random characters who don't see much action. For major quests, I bring tend to bring my LI (if possible) and a character who has some connection to that part of the story.

I will use humans the most.

That's how my first playthrough is gonna go.  Cora and Liam all the way but if they're lame I'll swap them out to try others.

 I will use the others. Mostly to hear whatever dialogue they may have then resume using the all human party. I did the same for the ME trilogy

I like to bring 1) My possible LI and 2) the one that relate to mission or have skill that effective against enemy on that mission.

But I still try to use all of squadmate as 2) , except the one I don't like (Example, Sera) or I feel they are really useless (Example, Tali in most mission)

Whatever makes the best blend.
If I go biotic/engineer combo like gameplay trailer then it will be the squadmate that fills the soldier and support role.

Really tough to tell at this moment. In ME3 i was scratching around just to have to 2 squaddie's i wanted due to the limited roster, whereas in ME2 i had a core of Miranda, Kasumi, Garrus and then occasionally drafted in others too.

for a first pt, in order 1) the one that seems more interesting and I'm liking more as a character 2) the one that fit better from a narrative POV 3) the one with powers that matches better mine

for subsequent pt, I plan a little ahead combinations with squadmates that I haven't used much and could go well with specific builds that I want to try for my PC, usually sticking to the same 2 squadmates and then another 2 in the next pt (and so on if I still haven't seen it all), to see what everyone does and says in every mission.

for my canon, my favourite squadmates come with me all the time, no matter how badlly they match my PC abilities (in ME i'm more flexible than in DA when it comes to builds, so if necessary, I rather change my PC build), unless there's an specific mission where another squadmate has much more interesting dialogues or interactions

This is what I tend to do as well.I do sometimes shake i tup from playthrough to playthrough but generally this is what I do as well.

I usually have my romance and my bestie for most missions. In ME it was Kaidan and Garrus; ME2 was Thane and Garrus; ME3 was Garrus and Kaidan or James/Javik/Liara until I got Kaidan back.

The first playthrough all companions get used until I get to know them all, then the ones that annoy me stay at camp/base etc. Poor EDI, the only mission she ever came on was the one I was forced into. 😁
