Mass Effect "Explorers Wanted" Contest Winners

Damn. I was gonna submit an entry, but they're only working under non-union terms. (And I still have my SAG card from a former life.) Double damn.

That's true. They're crazy "French-only" over there, which is pretty hypocritical considering they want the other 9 provinces to put French text on everything

Did you read both? But yeah, as Heimdall says, it's the same as the Inquisition one in that those won't actually be heard in the game. I mean, one of the DA:I scripts was about Empress Celene's cat! Although I wouldn't be surprised if Drake and Sanders are characters.


Anyway, reading those scripts (yeah, finally did) raises new question in my mind about the game, that's for sure. Though they most likely aren't from the game itself, the tone therein seems like it might be. And that has interesting implications. First, it sounds like it's been a few years at least since arriving, which supports my theory that the game will have DA2-style timeskips (or worse)... After all, if there is already a capital, we didn't just get there.

Next, the population sounds surprisingly high. If this is many years after arrival and the first wave of frozen embryos has been born of something like that, I could see it. But that seems unlikely given Ryder's age. So it seems like we're supposed to believe that that many people are first-generation; that many people fit on the Ark. I say it sounds surprisingly high to me simply because at first, I expected the population to be low enough to keep tabs on. But if a sizeable number of people are thugs on the frontier, there must be a lot to start with. Especially since we'll probably end up killing hundreds of them like it's nothing through the story.

And honestly, I'm a bit surprised at the level of cynicism displayed in both scripts. The original trilogy was fairly balanced between idealism and cynicism, or at least could be depending on your Shepard. And though I wouldn't have been surprised at this in Andromeda 2 or 3, I really expected the first new installment to be gushing in idealism, with the themes at play, those heard in Shepard's speech during last year's N7 Day video and dev comments. Wonder, exploration, determination, presumably unity, carrying over from ME3... And of course the whole Interstellar vibe that's going. "We're explorers, pioneers..."

Just some thoughts. We'll see what happens, I just wish we actually knew stuff about the game at this point. No combat gameplay yet, no insight into how roleplaying will be, barely any setting information. It's been long enough.

Well, I prolly would've entered, but I don't really think my $10 headset from GE would cut it as the mic. I mean, heck... I love the sound, but for recording? Hahaha, no.

Talk about the 11th hour, but I sent mine in. The Law of the Three Stooges were at play over the past week and a half, of me trying to get this done.

Nonetheless, I sent the one I hope was the best version I was able to produce.

I think I sent my entry on time, but ehm, I'm no Voice Actor and I sound strange.

I picked the second script, because I thought I could do the mercenary better: Have a Listen if you'd like. (I think I'll keep that video unlisted)

Horrible English accent? I find some of them compellingly sexy.

After intense deliberation, we’ve selected the winners of the “Explorers Wanted” voice-over contest.

We received over 16,000 entries, each filled with enthusiasm, skill, and passion. Thank you to everyone who took the time and effort to submit an entry.









It was difficult to narrow down such a talented field, but two explorers made it to the stars: Congratulations to Kyle Land and Cari Scholtens for sending their voices to Andromeda. Well done, citizens!
