Update, I've changed my opinion. After watching this I've come to the conclusion that it's not that bad, not that good either but also not that bad. Still disappointed with the lack of eye brow options and inability to increase facial hair length. I guess it's not a deal breaker but it still leaves something to be desired for sure.

BioWare has developed a habit of going one step forward, two steps back (or is it two steps forward, one step back? Both could apply honestly).

I just...no eyebrows? Really? I get the other limitations, if the faces were scanned as the devs said, but we can't have different eyebrows? They're just textures, ffs.
I think the faces look really nice, and the hair is fine if somewhat lacking in options, definitely better than DAI, but the eyebrows are really throwing me, lol.

...all these years, they never learn from The Sims? As a Sims 3 player the thought crossed my mind, as well, but then these are two different type of games. I don't know if the vast, Sims style CC would be possible for this type of game. What a dream it would be if it was but I doubt it. They outsourced to the "Need for Speed" Ghost Games people to make their Nomad run like a car (on alien world with variable atmospheric pressure and gravity and they want to play race cars with it). Heck, they even stole SWTOR developers to work on MEA. Maxis is one of EA's subsidiary, they even have family toggles and randomizers. *exhales....* oh well... mods!

It never ceases to amaze me how different some people's priorities are from mine. I would never even consider the CC when it comes to when I would or wouldn't buy this or any other game.

Personally, I really like it. I get that people don't like only being able to customize presets and that you can't mix and match eyes/noses/mouths/etc, it disappoints me a little too, but besides that I think it looks really good. Being able to rotate our character smoothly is an improvement, and the lighting isn't bad, which should make characters in the creator look the same in the real game. i'd take shitty lighting and stationary characters over not being able to make a character of an ethnicity that isn't among the presets lol

Honestly, we should all (respectfully) tweet Bioware peeps about how disappointing this is. If you're satisfied with it, that's nice, but we can all agree I think that it's stupid that they made it more limited. So, why don't we make our voices heard to the devs, and hopefully they could patch it or something. Again, respectfully. Well, I'm doing my part. I'm seeing a lot of other people tweet at them about this so far so hopefully we'll get some sort of answer soon.

I'm guessing they knew hard core fans would have a problem with the limitations but decided to take the hit and roll with it because most people who play the game don't even use the CC, they just use the default. At least with Shepard they did, I'm sure it will be the same with the Ryders.

Like, I'm getting pissed by the second just thinking about the fact that fans have been very VOCAL about shit and it seems to have gone ignored. The hair color presets are fine, we didn't have much color in DA:I
+1
But taking away the freedom to actually CUSTOMIZE the damn facial features of the presets? No eyebrows?
-50
Sorry but this is just ridiculous I'm honestly gutted and taken aback a bit from my excitement of the game Forget romances and all of that, my CHARACTER and how they look throughout the game is very important to me and the fact that I may not even be able to make what I was hoping for (which wasn't much, I had DA:I CC level standards here) guts me.
And the thing is, I'll definitely have to do a preset because default Scott is just not IT. He's no commander shepard at all.

I still believe this can't be all of the CC. Why make a social site where people can upload their creations and share with others if you only can choose from some presets, that doesn't make sense. This feature would be totally useless 🤔😐 I hope your right but it was confirmed by Ian that after you leave the CC you are stuck with your ryders unless you start over I guess we could maybe buy new Customization options on the Nexus but once again you would have to start over this is BS pure and simple. I had a thought maybe they followed the Witcher 3's design and you will be able to visit a salon on the Nexus and purchase better options I doubt it but one can hope.

So it was confirmed, then. I was hoping to be able to tweak your appearance later on, either through mirror or some other way. Wouldn't have been even hard to implement, I think. That sucks. I meant a website where people can upload their created faces to show and share with others instead of face codes. This was confirmed by a gaming site a few weeks ago.

You're right, I should have clarified that BioWare are apparently not able to make it work. I'm longing for all the interesting and beautiful characters I was able to make in the DA2 CC..... :sob:

If you expect good looking characters from Frostbite, you expect too much, as evidenced by DAI: 50 Types of Bald Monstrosities! I made absolute beauties in the CC of DA:I, even though the lighting was absolutely awful... and almost unforgiveable. I quickly went through the vid, but this seems to be a very workable CC with much, much better lighting. So I'm pretty happy right about now.

I'm pretty sure this limited set of options was all to make sure that your preset matches Alec's well. I'd honestly have preferred a mandatory default dad to this, with just matching skin colors if anything.

I did not even notice that, but yeah, I kind of noticed that. And the lighting did look pretty solid in comparison with the weird as fuck Fade lighting in Inquisition. But yeah, I get people's complaints but I think for me we have the difference between people who are artists and people who aren't. I'm not an artist at all or an expert on the human face so for me simplicity is good and this character creator is simple. It does not mean that you can't do amazing things with it, but its very easy to get the grasp of. Back during the trilogy, and especially the DA I CC i would be frusterated because I could not tell what a lot of the options would even do or why they would include them in the game. I would just move the slider back and forth for like a minute or two seeing if anything would move on Shepard's head, and when I did not see anything move...I would move onto the next one. It was even worse for DA Is. And despite that I still have managed to create some really good looking characters. But with the MEA CC I don't even have to guess. I could see exactly what each one of those options was doing to Ryder's face which should limit my frustration and make it so I can get into the game even faster with the exact Ryder I want, the limits of the CC not withstanding. Though yeah, on the other hand it is a bit dissapointing about the ears and stuff. ....And here come the videos comparing MEA to CCs in genres other then Mass Effect, which are entirely different games, and have very different constraints in terms of gameplay and cinematics. *sighs...drinks* Who cares how good Elite Dangerous looks in its CC, if you like that game so much go buy it. I will be enjoying my deep and rich RPG experience in the Andromeda Galaxy. Excuse me but Inquistion & Fallout 4 would like to have a word with you. :oki:

I will be enjoying my deep and rich RPG experience in the Andromeda Galaxy. Grand Theft Auto Online has a similar character creator, except you choose two presets, a mother and father. It's horrible, much worse than this, almost nothing to work with to make look pretty. At least the presets in Andromeda are all decent looking, and you can morph them to be beautiful or ugly with ease. Still would like to individually pick my eyes, but meh. I'm not an artist either, maybe that's why I don't mind the simplicity. Even in the ME trilogy, sometimes I could literally spend hours creating characters and playing through the intro over and over until I got what I wanted. With this, I think I could get what I want straight away. One or two restarts at the worst.

Any responses from Bioware about this yet? When Bioware don't advertize a feature...nor talk about it much , this is always kind of fishy. It was the same during DAI and tactics, no one was saying a word on Bioware's side despite the fact for months people were tweeting about that. We found out tactics didn't really exist anymore through fans previews at the last minute. As a side note , following Bioware marketing will make you sour and cynical after a while...I do not recommend. I will say I don't care all that much about the disappointing CC because I like default female Ryder a great deal. But, it sucks for people who wanted to go wild and have fun with the CC.
