Here is why the CC in Andromeda is a big disappointment for fans of MET.
- Can't choose brow type - Can't choose eye type - Cannot adjust jawline - Cannot select nose type.
The eye thing was almost obvious. Just look at practically any character in the game. They all have the same strange eyes as if the tech used here isn't really proper at all but it may somewhat get the job done. But as for the other thigns? Why? Just why?
Types aside, we can at least choose certain things about the nose and we can pick a preset that are all based on face-scans I've heard, and then slightly adjust those but generally speaking, we can't get creative with anything that isn't colors or exterior cosmetics on the face, not really.
This game is really just a B-team effort with some outside help from the other guys. I'm starting to think of this one as more of a holdover title while I look forward to the Patrick Weekes-led Dragon Age 4 and their new IP and if the new IP fails then... well, I might actually be done supporting this game developer. Nothing personal, but if it's not well done there's really no reason to stick around just because I'm a fan of their past work.

Excuse me but Inquistion & Fallout 4 would like to have a word with you. :oki: With Inquisition many people complained about it and I've already addressed my personal complaints. While I liked the DA I CC quite a bit, especially when discussing it with other people, I could not really make it work for me and yet by some miracle I still ended up creating good looking Trevelyans....for the most part. Fall Out 4, while also an RPG, does not really rely on 'cinematics' as much as BioWare does and while I do not know the number of lines of dialog the game has I would be shocked if it comes anywhere close to ME As. Fallout 4 was huge I dont know how it compares to Andromeda but thats not what my point was it was that both those games have CCs that destroy this garbage pure and simple quite frankly this CC is a pile of :poop: .

Exactly! FO4 is not so heavy with cinematics yet you could still make beautiful and unique characters with it, MEA is more cinematic experience and most will be stuck with ''average'' looking chars.. Where is this getting from? I was watching the video and grinning because I was imagining the possibilities of really being able to create good looking characters. Hell one or two of the pre sets themselves looked amazing without having to touch a thing. I will because I like Character Creators and I like to tinker with them no matter what and make the character my own, but I think you can really do that in Andromeda. What the hell are you talking about? *Of course* you can't make the character your own to the same extent as you could in literally any other Bioware CC from the past ten years. This isn't about being able to create good looking characters, this about being able to create *unique* characters. If you can't see why people are angry about that after several pages in this thread, then I don't know what to tell you.

Wow this is incredibly bad. I was on the fence for MEA for the longest time. Just didn't have much faith in the ME team at all. Even with that in mind I never imagined they would butcher the CC like this, a 10 year regression back to the pre-ME era. Plus, everything else shown felt mediocre to me at best as well. I'll definitely give Andromeda a pass for now, a first for Bioware since Baldur's Gate. I still have tons of faith in the DA team though, and hope DA4 will not get whatever the ME team is getting. I'd say my problem with ME now is its top level concept and direction decisions, which I personally just don't care about anymore. There's no remedy for that.
My 2 cents

I had planned to make my Sara and her brother look more like default Alec. I had also picked a couple of actors I was gonna use as reference a bit if my imagination didnt do the job, Ivana Baquero and Florence Faivre.
The available presets are all wrong. The only preset that could work as base is the default one which we cant even use. With DAI this wouldnt have been an issue.
I dont have an issue with having to use sliders. My issue is that many basic sliders are missing. Eye angle, brow angle, eye height come to mind as examples for the eye area.
If they had to stick with this limited garbage then the least they coulda done was offer more presets. Or even proper ones. The Scott presets dont look remotely young enough either.
So... Anyone know how hard it would be to mod default face to be modifiable? I could deal with only being able to change the eye and haircolor and style in it :/

I'm bad at CC and usually just choose the preset with slight variations so, technically this isn't a big deal for me. I am however quite astonished that the CC is so...devoid of options. Oh well, I'm gonna play it on thursday and see what I think then.

Now we know why every (white) NPC in the game looks batshit crazy, they all have the same perpetually open eye type. And to clarify, by "open eye type" we mean eyes that look like balls of glass that are ready to roll out of the under-modeled eye sockets.

Update, I've changed my opinion. After watching this I've come to the conclusion that it's not that bad, not that good either but also not that bad. Still disappointed with the lack of eye brow options and inability to increase facial hair length. I guess it's not a deal breaker but it still leaves something to be desired for sure. Make up on a dude. Yay Can. not. resist.

This isn't about being able to create good looking characters, this about being able to create *unique* characters. If you can't see why people are angry about that after several pages in this thread, then I don't know what to tell you. The fact that Video Game Sophistry posted two Ryder's which looked very uh...unique...and the fact that the GS video was looking like to be an entirely different Ryder from that one and considering I saw a Eurogamer Ryder which looked very different then either of the above proves the lie of this statement. *** As an aside I wonder how much MEAs CC is 'weak' because of the reliance on MEAs Cinematic Design because of the complaints about DA Is lack of cinematics. IE DA I had an amazing CC where you could do full control of it because...as people back in the day really bitched about ( I kind of among them?)...the cinematic cut scenes were few and far between. And so since you did not really have to animate the Player Character in the game this made it a lot easier to create a much more varied CC because they had less work for the animations and more 'room' in terms of data to create such things.

I wonder how many developer tweets hinted at a better CC than DAI's... Don't even start there, start with comparing to MET. Mass Effect 1 arguably had a better, more flexible CC than this. Every new reveal for this game seems to be wrapped in some pre-emptive damage control. They know they've not made the most impressive product and they're trying to modestly reveal and contain the faltering hype and the reactions to underdelivering.

Where is this getting from? This isn't about being able to create good looking characters, this about being able to create *unique* characters. If you can't see why people are angry about that after several pages in this thread, then I don't know what to tell you. Not that I entirely disagree, but it should be noted that the ME's CC was never one that allowed a great variety. It was one of the most limiting CC I played with. This one might take the spot even if I can make a better looking character then in the trilogy. It doesn't make sense to not have some degree of options in terms of changing eyes, nose, etc. They practically followed the trilogy's CC approach in terms of limiting option to another level, with a bit of improvements in some others areas.
