hmmm.....interesting. so maybe Alec is based on the combo of Ryders? Or maybe he's really tied to what you choose for your twin?? that give me some hope then cuz I'll just pick the default twin then. wonder if anyone who has access to the game can test that - if Alec is based on the combo of twins you create/choose in CC. No, Rydad is based on your own preset # only, but only really looks like the male presets. Hmm, weird. Maybe my game glitched out and I got a dad I wasn't supposed to get? lmao

I feel like female preset #1 will be used tons, it already has. Since I was going to make Asian character anyways that's pretty much what I'll be using as well so Mandy will look like tons of other characters, but at least she won't look awful. Also I'm pretty much forced to pick #3 for male Ryder. I guess I can make it work. I'm not happy with CC at all and I'd like to be, CC's are major feature for me and I have bought game before based on CC (Saint Row), but I can make it work. BTW did anyone post here yet video about how Alec Ryder's face works? Abilitydrain did video about it: So basically it's completely based on what preset we pick. Yeah I learned that the bad way when he had purple eyes. I had headcanoned femryder wearing eye contacts but apparently she naturally has violet eyes Wait, seriously? Augh that's so frustrating! I was totally going the coloured contacts route! Guess it'll be blue or green eyes. *sigh*

There's a subforum on Reddit where people are sharing their preset creations: www.reddit.com/r/ShareYourRyders/I left Scott on default when I used preset 5 and the dad changed based on my protagonist. I don't think the twin matters. Looking at other people screenshots, I can see that the dad's eyes are definitely the same as yours. I went with brown eyes and my dad had brown eyes. Another preset 5 went with green eyes and that Alec had green eyes.

Yeah, I understood that. But I haven't seen a single person here make the argument that "it's no big deal there aren't more POC in games". And it seems irrelevant in this situation anyway because BioWare don't make games with predetermined characters. So it seemed like a total straw-man argument to me. Not here specifically, no... but in general. I think it was just a tongue in cheek little joke, nothing personal against anything that's been said in this thread. Anyways. I'm not at home, can someone tell me if the twin customization is kind of the same deal as your Ryder's? Like... If I want to go in and tweak a Scott preset for my Sara Ryder, can you still adjust cheek/chin shapes, hair, etc? I'm going to be restarting when I get home later. I think it's the exact same except you can't edit the name.

Asian = generic? I never saw a good Asian Shep in ME without mods and there weren't any real Asian options for the DA series. So an authentic looking Asian preset for MEA is a rarity to me, and they certainly don't look generic or "average" (unattractive) to me. I didn't mean it in a bad way. In fact (is there any way to check post history in here? If there is a way you can check mine) I've stated in this board on record that I really thought the 1st preset for FemRyder looked really pretty and that I would most definitely pick that one for my 1st playthrough. What I meant by "generic" was at the very least she looked perfectly fine and human-like, unlike many other presets who looked like their face got face-planted first into a surface of a planet when they appear in the game. No, I was agreeing with you. I was commenting on the poster who worded it as though Asians look generic as a whole

So an authentic looking Asian preset for MEA is a rarity to me, and they certainly don't look generic or "average" (unattractive) to me. Asians can really look generic and average especially with these " all Asians are just Chinese/Korean/Japanese" stereotype presets.... there's 48 Asian countries and we are all very diverse with various ethnicity, cultures and their subethnics. If you go over earlier posts, I do mention a post with a Ryder who kinda looks like me which isn't the designated Asian preset. And lol, I am currently discussing the game with several (asian) ME fans and even they agreed that the Asian presets looks horrible especially the male Ryders. Yes, its harder to make a proper Asian-looking Shepard before but we still have the freedom to choose whichever features that we want and I still call that Shepard as authentic Asian - even if you personally think they don't. Point is, we don't need presets to judge that for us. If I want to make Gackt or Aaron Kwok or Iko Uwais as my twin brother, let me do that instead of settling down with some lan jiao-looking guy. I'm also "Asian" IRL, and I don't see any difference in how generic the presets look. In fact, there's a number of blonde white girls at my school, and I can never remember their names. The reason I brought up Shepard and DA is that there's more to "being Asian" than just squinty eyes and high cheek bones, which is what the CC in those games seemed to interpret as "how to make an Asian."

Poor girl lol since they used real face scans, you'd think they might want to scan some "model-pretty" male and female faces in addition to more "normal" looking faces. that way, there'd be a good mixture to choose from.

I can only assume that their scans were just poor quality or poorly done. Just look at default Sara, the face model is gorgeous and Sara, well... isn't.

I'm starting think someone decided to "improve" them and make them "more realistic" that the only way that this makes sense.

AND ANOTHER THING!!!! Why do all of the presets look so old? The Ryders are supposed to be in their early 20s -- take a look around any college graduating senior class and you'll see what age Bioware was going for. But all of the presets (and even the defaults tbh) look to be in their mid-30s! They don't exactly scream 'youth' to me. And if we do the math our Dad should be around 40 years old-- why's he so damn grey and wrinkled at 40?

I guess this seems like a good enough place to plop this. Ignoring the guy's obnoxious, comical ranting, this video is actually pretty useful. I'm relieved to see some features in this video that I had been led to believe were not present, based upon many posts and articles of the past two days. The CC is still ass, but at least it won't be completely unbearable, irretrievably bad. They can hopefully patch it into something worthwhile. There clearly are features of DAI's CC present within it.

If I recall correctly one of the briefings (the one with Cora narrating) stated that Alec was born in 2129 (so he is 56 at the time they leave the Milkyway) and the twins were born in 2163, so they are 22.
