So it turns out. The caucasian MP face with default Sara's face texture was a preset at some point. As in this French video the guy is playing a Sara with it. This means it was removed at some point. WTF Bioware?! Dammit, I tried to use google translator and french guy is saying that he customize her. But he didn't said what preset he used. Weird. And if I understand correcly he said that it's from "Le patch day one sera day one 21 et 23" patch day one. But devs said that it's already implemented so I don't get it. Maybe after all game will look a bit diffrent after release. She looks a bit like her: www.reddit.com/r/ShareYourRyders/comments/5zxwa3/preset_9_my_sara_ryder/I'm going to try recreate her. It's a pity that it's preset 9 and dad will be very black My siblings are adpoped I guess.

All I want to know is why is that French/MP face not a preset. It's clearly rigged and modifiable as the MP version seems to have different hair and blue eyes. The lack of 10th male preset and matching dad shouldnt really be an issue either since the defaults would work perfectly fine as the family of this face :/
I've grown attached to my preset 5 Fryder that looks like literally every other preset 5 Fryder and her dad but damn this French/MP face would have given me a less bad taste in my mouth about the CC. It's pretty close to what I was planning to make my character look like anyway before we saw the CC.
I'm only starting my real playthrough on Monday and now I'm wondering if I should postpone it further untill this face becomes available. You only get one first playthrough after all and I am not 100% happy with the overbite Fryder 5 seems to have :/

I think he created a custom Sara, canceled, and then selected the default Sara setting off a glitch that merged the textures along with the custom Sara's mesh overriding the default's (pay attention to the cheeks, and jaw). that's one hell of a glitch......lol. also, I'm noticing other "differences." I've been watching the French version "side by side" with another video of default Sara going through the opening moments. It's weird that the animations are the same. Lexi looks the same. but stuff in the background is different. In the French version, when Sara is sitting down and Lexi is conducting the initial check up ( follow my fingers ) and then the "tone box" tutorial pops up, if you look in the background, you can see that the ceiling lights are blinking red. In the English vid, the ceiling lights are solid blue/white. then when the camera focuses back on Sara, you can see a monitor behind her. In the French version, the screen is blinking. In the English vid, it's solid. also, as the scene progresses, in the French video, you can see sparks and smoke in the background. None of that is in the English vid. this is all so weird........lol. It looks like the new game bug where the previous game state show up in the new game, but without the character duplicates.

I covered this a page or two ago but the "MRTV Gaming" guy posting comments about how it's a customised face is NOT the video uploader. It's just some random person giving their opinion. The video uploader is "Micromania TV_France", a different person who hasn't posted any comments at all. The attractive Ryder in the video is not based on any of the existing presets. The face is still in the game, but only in the Multiplayer for some really annoying reason. Here is a screenshot of the Multiplayer face from the current build of the game: i.imgur.com/WbrSbCZ.pngIt's the same face with a different hairstyle. If you still have EA Access or Origin Access you can open up the Multiplayer and see it for yourself. So they removed this face from the Single Player game for whatever reason. You won't be able to recreate it, our only hope is for them to add it back as a preset.

I just noticed, too, that the mystery Sara face has a totally different eye color ( brownish ) than current default Sara ( blue ). I think he created a custom Sara, canceled, and then selected the default Sara setting off a glitch that merged the textures along with the custom Sara's mesh overriding the default's (pay attention to the cheeks, and jaw). Dude, I thought you were joking at first, but this is not the result of some fluke bug that makes Ryder hot. The face is still in the game, but only in the Multiplayer. If you still have EA Access you can start up the Multiplayer and see it for yourself. It's not a random glitch, it's a completely separate face that they removed from the Single Player game. The guy who posted the video must simply be playing a slightly older build of the game. Yes, it was only uploaded 2 days ago, but maybe certain members of the press received an older version ahead of time and simply weren't allowed to upload the content until the EA Access thing started, so as not to spoil things for regular people. It's a much better explanation than "random glitch makes Ryder hot".

Customising face scans is a tricky business and one that companies are only just starting to try to tackle, and it has a lot of associated issues if you want a high quality outcome. Someone mentioned a few pages back that making their own company to offer character creators to various game companies as a plug-in package, which is funny because the most recent Unreal Engine presentations at GDC (think it was GDC) had a piece from a company called 3Lateral showing off their "Gene Splicer". It's a work in progress and they mention that they would put sliders on top of that system. It's also engine-independent. It's in an Unreal Engine presentation and the examples they use for Star Citizen are in CryEngine/Amazon Lumberyard.
And this is a company who has been working on this for probably as long as ME:A has been in development. I don't think it's an easy nut to crack, and the best Bioware are likely to be able to do is the fix the eyes and hair textures, and maybe offer a bunch more presets (including the default ones, I hope).

so, I've now seen vids where they show the male model who default Scott Ryder is supposed to be based on. and default Scott does look like said model. but then that just begs the question, what the heck did Bioware do to default Sara? She looks nothing like the extremely attractive and beautiful model she's supposed to be based on. I mean......seriously........wth??!! Honestly I was just wondering this. I dont think it had anything to do with feminism or a sjw agenda like many people think. I have a couple theories for why she looks different from her face model. I was looking at the face model and a recent pic of fem ryder expecting to see major differences in the facial features but they actually look very similar. So i dont think its one thing in particular I think it's a combination of things that went wrong that explains the difference. If you look closely at female ryder's facial features they look spot on with the model but something is still off. (Pics under spoiler)
The model Jayde Rossi, in alot of the pictures that people are seeing of her online, she's wearing makeup and on photoshoots (which means there's some photo editing involved) and female ryder as you notice doesn't wear much makeup (which make sense because she's suppose to be a solider so that's pretty rational) however the face model was most likey told not to wear any makeup and pull her hair back when the face scan was taking place so they could get the most accurate view of her facial features and as a girl that wears makeup, it can make the face look a bit different. Male ryder's model obviously doesn't wear makeup so that could somewhat explain some of the difference. Another thing is the art style, as everyone knows by now the eyes look really dead and overall the artstyle is cartoony which adds to the uncanny valley look and lastly compared to the face model fem ryders face is a tad bit puffy for some reason maybe it was to make her look younger? Im not sure why but I do notice it. Alone these things probably wouldn't change her face to much but all those together is probably why femryder looks so different to many people from her face model. The terrible facial animations also don't help. Overall, I think femryder is very attractive but also in a average way. She isn't supermodel gorgeous but im sure with better hair and some makeup she would be. I get how some people dont think she's attractive but you would think she's the ugliest video game character ever the way people make it seem which makes it worse is her facial features are almost exactly like her model so it's twice as insulting. I think if you gave femryder the same hair and makeup as her model she'd probably look just like her. Anyways that's my theory of why she looks so different. I think you may have a point. I found the most simple face shot of the model, and compare them to the images of the mystery default and the current default (taken from xMissWoox's post). You can see that in the jaw, the tweaks were likely made to make her look MORE like her model, not less (as I previously thought). Still..having the mystery default as a mode to play with would really be nice! EDIT - I would also point out that I do not think the female Ryder is "ugly". I just don't want to play as her. I would like to play as my own caucasian female, and would like an attractive preset to start from to change hair, eye color, etc. The current default, which is currently my only option to do play as a fair-skinned caucasian, has a derpy look in game when animated, compared to preset 1 which has a serious but attractive look (an example, based on my limited time with the game), but is not caucasian. Another example - preset 2 has major wrinkles for some reason during animation, and her skin tone is weird. Finally, preset 8, which does look attractive to me, is impossible to make pale-skinned. I think the reason folks had such a gutteral reaction was that it seemed like in the french video, the model was slightly more appealing than the default we have now, and also animated well. If we had her as a preset in the game, then we would finally be able to make somewhat attractive pale-skinned character. As per usual, just my opinion Image: Left = mystery, middle = model, right = current default.

Or instead of/as well as adding presets, they could turn the 'Custom' button into what it should be; DAI-style character creator. That way, people like myself can make characters with the eyes/nose/mouth/eyebrow shape, skin colour/texture (a very pale, smooth one without moles, please) and eyebrow colour we want, while those who're happy with the character chooser can just stick with that. Best of both worlds. Throw in a 'select Alec's preset' and that should remove the issues people have had with always getting a black Alec even when their twins are paler/have caucasian features.

It should have been this way from the very beginning. Then I would actually be able to make a Ryder I really like. Right now I can compromise with a custom Sara (still, not what I really want) and absolutely cannot create a custom Scott (I have seen many male characters and I have no desire to play as any of them, including the default Scott).

Okay, here's a slightly better quality version: i.imgur.com/QQgYSc9.pngNote the same freckle on her cheek and the same eyebrow shape/texture. There's different hair and lighting, and the face is in an "idle" state rather than animated with emotion, but I'm pretty sure it's the same. Here she is again from a different angle: dontfeedthegamers.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Andromeda-Multiplayer-Gameplay.jpg

No. It's not the same face, as in it's not a PRESET. Sara's face in the video is the DEFAULT. You can see them pick the quick start option and then pick the gameplay setting and then the game starts. The host even asks his buddy which Ryder they should quick start with, they go on a tangent on modern female heroes, and then finally buddy says to pick default Sara. Later on they show multiplayer with that other face. Perhaps the multiplayer IS using Sara mesh and texture, I don't know, I guess it's possible. But for this to be an older build they would have had to start 2 different clients on xbox 1 on a LIVE stream. Because the video starts with the current CC we have, with the Sara we ALL have. But then when they actually start the game..... She looks way different. It's not a preset, again.

After playing the EA Access I can say that the CC is a serious disappointment and I ended up using defaults again.I just wish we could have gotten a clean shaven Male default that facial hair annoys me to no end. :rage:

I just took this screenie from the video. This is absolutely maddening. But the whole thing is clearly on Xbox 1, was there EVER an early copy on Xbox released to previewers? I would assume it would only have been on PC? Also you guys, it was not uploaded on March 16th it was LIVE On March 16th. The game is also bugged as his Sara can't even exit the starting area.. Then they joke about the fix being day 1 patch and how that's not a surprise. Then they load a previous save.... How do they have a more advanced save on day 1 of early access? AHHHH!!! *goes insane*

I guess I won't hold my breath for patch. We don't know what it will fix. Probably nothing major. I think I'll wait for some mods. It's my only hope. And you are right to do so. Here is the video (from that topic bsn.boards.net/thread/5343/happened-video-included ) proving that BW used every preset in cut-scenes (this is where, I assune, all the "customization budget" money were wasted - 20 runs for every scene!). The original preset (that face number) is visible through the chages player made (starting from medical check-up scene). I guess, they hoped that this way face animation will be perfect. As we know now, the guess was wrong but the damage - unchangeable pre-sets - was done and nothing cona be done about it anymore. Oh, and as we know now, "day-1 patch" is already in that 10 hours trial, so, what you see is what you get.

I only see a glitchfest in the video.

However, unlike the vid you posted, where the glitched Ryder appears along with the chosen Ryder, in the French vid, it was all so seamless and the animation was perfect. French Sara didn't seem glitched herself nor did she have a "glitched" twin Sara that popped up beside her. but the environment stuff was definitely glitchy. ah....the plot thickens.......

I only see a glitchfest in the video. I am obviously not a game developer, so, it's all guessing. What I see here is: the player choose a preset and slightly modified it (practically changed skin color). However, at some point of the game (medical bay) that preset he used for his Raider is shown. This is how that unmodified preset looks like. We do know that the reason CC is so limited is because real scans were used, that, in turn, were used to make face animation smoother. My conclusion (agree, it can be an overstretch) is every preset (every scan) was run through every cutscene in hope to make it look good. That means there will never be more faces in CC, and they can not allow face features to be modified or animation will be ruined. In short - do not wait for a "magical patch" fixing CC, it will never happen.

And if they added new faces they would have to animate them again? And in the video the original preset and the edited were just out of sync?
