OHHHH! So mystery solved. Well shit. Actually they changed alot on Sara, her ears, nose, jawline, skin texture, eyes, & eyebrows ... if they can do all that in a patch to the default Sara then why is the character creator so barebones? Really why did they feel the need to change her at all? IMHO the pre-patch Sara looks 100% better! You have to purchase the Ultimate edition to get the good character creator peasant!

I am new to this thread but does anyone know what DAI had a better character creator and better facial animations? Apologies if this has been discussed already but the thread is nigh on 70 pages long.

Apologies if this has been discussed already but the thread is nigh on 70 pages long. In the DA:I character creator you could change the type of eyes, nose, ears, mouth, eye-brows, skin complexion, as well as change the color of the eye-brows. In the ME:A character creator you can do none of those things, also you can't lighten the skin tone beyond tan so its impossible to make a light skin character ( Irish, Nordic, etc.)

Apologies if this has been discussed already but the thread is nigh on 70 pages long. DAI CC is much more flexible. I can change shapes of pretty much everything (facial features, neck, ears, eye-brows), choose colour of hair and eye-brows separately, choose skin-tones and complexions regardless of the chosen preset. There are freckles (love them). Though hair styles are not so good (50 shades of bald), but hair textures look better than in MEA. Not into make-up, but options in DAI are much more natural and less clownish. Currently (or maybe ever) it is impossible to make a character similar to this one in MEA:

That was my one complaint about DAI's CC. I really hope they add lighter skin tones to MEA's CC asap. They should be available to all presets and we should be able to choose our father's appearance as well (because the current system doesn't work!). I hope Bioware understands how important this is.

In my experience with the CC, I went in a little skeptical but came out pleased. PapaRyder reflected the changes made nicely. So far there have been no awkward faces or glitches. Hooray. Heres my BroRyder: (alarmingly looks like Sheploo from certain angles. Must be the jaw/cheekbones). My only gruff is that weird part where facial hair meets scalp hair SisRyder: Blonde chick that looks like she walked off the streets of Switzerland. PapaRyder:

For those who don't, there is no way to make a satisfying character.

oh, wow! if that's true, that's really messed up. usually you patch things to improve stuff, not make them look worse.....lol. wth, Bioware??!! however, I suppose that means they could easily "unpatch" it or patch the original face back in. or at least make it available as an editable preset. So we can only hope that they add old Sara as preset after patch. If she's in files somewhere modders maybe can do it too.

I also saw a post on the Gil Brodie thread of a completely different user and his Ryder looked like ours as well. Your facial hair and my eye scar. I'm not mad about it though. I'm content with my Ryder, but I'm so sorry for those of you who aren't okay with the CC. =/ I lucked out I suppose.

So glad I decided to wait on Andromeda. I'm sure in a 1-3 months they'll have a big patch to improve all this shit. Just like they did with the ME3 Extended Cut...
Anyone who pre-ordered simply hasn't learned from past mistakes. It's better to order EA Bioware games a few months after launch, once they've polished their product.

Ah I remember the times when the biggest complaint of the ME CC was the giraffe neck.
Don't know about 2 as I imported.
3 was already a 1/10 for me because my Shep lost all her cuteness.
And Andromeda is basically a 0/10 because it doesn't really exist.

Anyone who pre-ordered simply hasn't learned from past mistakes. It's better to order EA Bioware games a few months after launch, once they've polished their product. Not really. I'm just KNOW that all the AAA titles have problems on release day, this isn't an EA Bioware exclusive problem and since I'm a huge fan of ME I can live with a few imperfections. The risk of pre-Ordering was very well calculated on my part and I regret nothing. ME3 exteneded Cut only "fixed" the ending, something that can also be said for Witcher 2 with the Extended Edition.... but no one dares to create a shit storm against CD-Projekt and their millions of bugs in their Witcher games. Or maybe Assassins Creed Unity on release day.... the problems Mass Effect Andromeda has are not even close to those titles. Lets stay realistic pls. CC limited options are not annoying, but whatever you can still make a good looking Ryder. It's not that dramatic.

And you could at least make distinquished looking characters that don't look like everyone elses. The only problem was, that it was hard to make a decent looking one.

I'd say all three CCs were still limited in options though. Andromeda went further in that direction.

I made a SisRyder. I was just messing around on the trial. I'm happy with her, but I will probably make more when I don't have a 10hour limit. The options are fairly limited and i do hope they expand it... It should have been at least DA:I Standard!

It's not going to reach DAI in terms of facial customization, though it can be expanded a lot.

Personally, I can make a Sara I can play with (though not the one I would like to make), but no Scott. All the options I see are literally bland, ugly, bland/old, ugly/old. The old ones are also immersion-breaking for me, I don't see a 22 y.o. as he is supposed to be in the story. I haven't seen a Scott version I would like to have in my game (or I can stand in my game). No problems with male characters in DA series and in many other games.

Well we have to disagree on the ugly part then, everyone has different tastes. The age is a simple fix of adding more hair styles and implementing more skin textures. I think they are definetley going to do this or at least there will be some mods for PCs users. The DA:I CC is fantastic and simple to use, I totally agree on that, but DA always had more options and was much better. I don't know why, but with the CC in ME I always felt like they want to force people to use the default faces.

I don't know why, but with the CC in ME I always felt like they want to force people to use the default faces. Of course, tastes are different, that is why CC needs many options. I would add more diverse presets to this one, as they don't allow changing faces. Younger and better textures as well as more skin-tones and complexions will help, too. Removing genderlock from hair will add options. Hair textures also need reworking. As many others, I would gladly choose a preset for Alec Ryder from the list, it will let the CC not be tied to his appearance. As for the default faces in ME series, this is a good observation. Maybe the initial idea for ME was a game series with a set (male) protagonist and now they subtly try to implement this idea further. Honestly, if they borrowed a DAI CC (with improvements and minor changes), it would be so much better. Both games share the same engine. And yes, I am already looking forward for mods. I had two appearance mods for DAI (higher resolution eye texture and better lashes), I feel I will need a lot more for MEA.

So, I've been watching videos of players who have EA early access. The CC for Andromeda looks terrible.
It is my understanding that if you do not want to play the default Ryder, you must choose between one of 9-ish preset heads. Once you choose a head, you cannot choose a different nose type, eyebrow type, or eye type.
Meaning, if your preset's nose has a bump on the bridge then that's what you get. You get a nose with a bump. You can change the width, height, and depth of the entire nose, but that's it. Right? And the same goes for the eyes, correct?
And if, say, your preset has bushy eyebrows - that's what you get. Bushy eyebrows. You can't switch them out for thinner brows, right?
And it is my understanding that you cannot bring up a menu of different preset noses, eyes, or brows and select from there, switching one type out for another. Right?
Anyway, this is a big disappointment if all of the above is true. I'm not purchasing ME:A day 1. I think I'll wait to get a used copy. I keep seeing a lot of complaints about bugs too. Ian Frazier's twitter is blowing up with tweets from him promising to "add things to the bug list" so that stuff can be "patched post-ship." That's terrible. Not his fault. But just terrible that EA is pushing them to release a broken game at full price.
I really think a lot of people should put the brakes on and see what's what with reviews and whatnot before buying. Wait a few months so that all the patches are out and the game is fixed. EA will keep doing this stuff if people keep paying them.
