All work and no play make's PC's balls blue. My characters probably aren't going to have any kids, unless I'm right about the genetic manipulation tech in ME making it possible for same-sex couples to have them and Bioware acknowledging that. That, or if I end up liking one of the male options as much as Cullen, but that's unlikely Well, kids are another matter. Just put on the space contraceptives and you're good to go. I assume everything is just a mass effect field now, extra thin…for reasons.

My Character: Name: Sara Ryder I like the name and really like the idea of her being called by her first name sometimes.
Personality: Is there to get the job done. Can seem very serious but once you get to know her she is playful and has a wicked sense of humor. Extremely loyal to people she considers family (aka friends, crew, and actual family). Always trying to help everyone she comes across. But no matter what do not cross her; you definitely don't want to get on her bad side.
Looks: Depends on content but probably black hair and blue eyes.
Romance: Liam if possible. If not someone who is just as loyal and caring. Has never been in a serious relationship before; to scared of being hurt.
Family: Is close to her brother Scott. They tell each other everything and are very supportive of one another. Was close to her father but is starting to feel resentment over all the pressure he puts on her.
Class/Combat Style: Soldier with a bit of biotic.
As you can tell I haven't thought about this at all... Lol. Some stuff may change as we get new info.

For others maybe but our job is to set it all up. All work and no play make's PC's balls blue. I have heard this before. Common stereotypical expression. A flawed expression at that. The true expression is what people find to be fun and what to them is work may not be the same for all. Granted some may find social interaction or relationships to be fun. Others like me however do not: It truly depends on what is fun and works for you. In my case they are one in the same: My work is my fun and vice-versa: For me I find the Systematic Tactical Analyzation of every small fraction of detail is far more interesting than any social event such as a party or even a relationship. I see social interaction and relationships as hindrances to achieving completion of an ultimate long term goal...maybe later on after the mission is complete but while in the process? I would rather sit there and nuke what has been begun and start over again. Think of me akin to Sherlock Holmes without the need for drugs and then that amped up to 1000000000000000000000000 and combined with Dr. Doom without his flaws. Personally I would rather sit in a room and read 5 books or play one good game story-wise than go to a party and have what everyone else calls: "fun". For to me that is beyond world ending boring and can actually get me angry... and believe you me -you don't want me angry: I had to attend one party especially while still in high school and this one person -a vivid chatter box would not stop talking to me about all sorts of crap -they went on and on about their emotional state and that of some of their friends for 17mins 43sec (yes I remember the exact amount of time) before they finally stopped and left after I eventually rolled my eyes and gave them the death-stare but oh boy how I wanted to give them a TKO to their face.

One of my favorite sayings that i invented is "Nothing is done until it is." That said I was also thinking of Jessica and Rachel though. Especially Rachel that would be the third name I am seriously considering. Aiming for something with Hebrew influnces and trying to find a name that means knowledge/ exploration/ pathfinding, etc, but barring that I have always liked the name Cassandra...even before DA I...and her being a prophtess does kind of fit the bill. (Though I know she's Greek and not Hebrew). You know, my canon Shepard was called Rachel, which I found rather hilarious considering it means ewe, a female sheep. So her name was Sheep Shepard Her own guide, I suppose. "I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of the Normandy my soul." I had no idea. Kind of appropriate for an Inquisitor then. I just picked it as I thought it worked well with the name Travelyan and the person I'm playing and tossing it around in my head. I've been thinking it works well with the name Ryder as well which was why I was considering using it again for my Ryder. Generally I pick my names at random based a little on the kind of person I'm creating. I've not had a Rachel Shepard though but I think I did use the name Sam once on one of my old Shep's which is one of the other names I'm thinking but that was quite some time ago..

well its gonna be random broryder just bcuz my straight ass is crushing on this motherfucker, so yeah probably gonna make a few changes like a better haircut and maybe eyes color or something. focusing either on vanguard-soldier or vanguard-tech builds. As for romances, if theres a character thats gonna be somewhat like Jack from original ME trilogy im gonna go for it and im gonna make it rough. If yknow what i mean

I haven't exactly decided on a character yet (tbh I'm not sold enough on the game to consider it a must buy in march), but if I do get it...I suppose my main character will be a vaguely asian or post-racial looking guy (name undecided(, I find that the faces I end up creating tend to rely on the options and limitations presented by the character creator. I assume that pathfinders should be pretty self reliant so I'm going to try to go with a build that allows me to be lethal at any range with a preference for powers that enhance my mobility or disable my enemies. I'm also coming around the idea of having a drone, it seems like a good expression of humanity as a tool using species. He will be quiet, academic and professional, though not entirely above letting a zinger rip with a genuinely funny dialogue option presents itself, with absolutely no patience for sjw/daddy-issue/ stupidity induced whining or the corny drivel bioware sometimes tries to pass for humour. Again, I'm undecided about romance options, he will be straight but neither peebee nor the turian, if they are indeed romancable seem appealing in the slightest. So I'll wait and see. Hopefully bioware doesn't pull another DAI.

One 'problem' I am running into, doing this over in DA too, is that I am planning on likely making Robert a Soldier/ Infiltrator While Cassandra/ Sam/ Rachel is likely going to be a Sentinel/ Infiltrator/ Engineer.
The issue I have noticed I keep on wanting to run my favorite ME classes, Soldier, Infiltrator, Sentinel. I have never played as an Engineer before though.

Probably doing a self insert for the first time. Did not quite get it right in DA:I because I dislike the running animations.
So it is going to be Fani Ryder, mostly an infiltrator with sniper and shotguns skills and some close combat. Loyal, helpful but when in bad mood arrogant and spiteful. Gets results with a diplomatic approach but can use sarcasm too. Looks like a mix of latino, luso, galician and jewish aka white as fuck, blue eyes and platinum blonde hair. Has a lot in common with her brother but does everything to piss off her father.
Not sure about the romance, gonna to wait and see.

I'll probably go with default Scott Ryder. Prob go for a soldier/tech build. Always went biotics in the trilogy so gonna mix it up. And personality wise prob diplomatic/paragon first run.

a Snarky Infiltrator/Sentinel BroRyder. (it will be weird AF if i can go with TechArmor and tactical cloak, plus overload/throw + warp) I think i'll go with the default name, idk about the apperance. And, he'll go with the blue or the bird.

I'll be ManRyder (huhuhuhuhu).
And I'll follow the journey I had my Shepard on. While I viewed Shepard as an increasingly 'ascending' character, opening himself up slowly to new styles and views on things, he still was rather unmovable - no matter the 'class', he was still a soldier at heart to me, even in different flavors of it. NPCs in combat generally followed suit, but I still saw Shepard as a model fitting his setting, and I was ready for a new setting.
Anyway, my Shepard was more progressive than what might be the 'canon marketing' Shepard. I was Vanguard, not Soldier. I would later take on Energy Shield and Barrier and Flare, not other Combat or conventional feeling abilities. I was 'breaking free'. This was also in roleplay conversations - my Shepard knew his role (he wasn't auto-Paragon like previous playthroughs) but he still tried to become more.
Ryder will be that something more. I don't know if it'll be Vanguard exactly, but I'm tempted to keep some of the theme going. But I do know that where Shepard was hesitant, I'm happy to have Ryder be accepting. Where Shepard was cautious, Ryder will be curious. This all seems kinda expected perhaps, but maybe MEA will still let the protagonist continue to be hesitant, cautious, aggressive, etc - just more optionally than before - so I wanted to say this anyway.
I may accept technology more. I didn't feel my Shepard was the engineering sort, but Ryder can go for it! When I saw nanoswarms or whatever, I was not surprised, but I was pleased because that was right up my alley.
If I can 'romance' a 'male' AI, I just might. If I can romance a male alien, I just might. I was stuck with Kaidan or Steve last time, but others would have intrigued me more (for humans, James; for aliens, several).
My first Ryder will be HIGHLY inquisitive. The more I can absorb the story of everything going on, the better. He's trying to figure everything out. For me, its been 4-5 years since ME3 and I have to get this curiosity off my chest.
Despite a lot of this, Ryder will feel connected to the Milky Way. Anything I can say to value it, I will. This is not a mission to escape the past - no - it is a mission to journey with it in my heart, and reconnect to it in time.

Hm, can't say much about my character atm other than Ryder would be female. My first plan was to call her Samantha, but after I heard that they use the name Sara in conversations, it would be very immersion breaking for me, if Ryder has another name than Sara. For me it would be very irritating.
Because I always suck at pulling of a jerk in my game-playthroughs I think my Ryder will be more on the good side of people (ugh! The cringe all the time! I always end up to feel overly guilty and hate my character afterwards to the degree that I delete it and play again as the nice one).
Because she is young I wonder if I can shape her from a nosy, a bit naive & sometimes overly energetic brat into a more lvlheaded and mature person to the end of the game. I really like to see her personality clashing here and there with squadmates and other NPCs.
As someone with a lot of smaller siblings I hope that the relationship with Scott will be like a very natural sibling relationship. Like you love to tease each other, clash here and there but overall you care for one another. Maybe make some mistakes and grow together while learning from that negative experiences. Support each other in difficult situations or question/criticize things if it is necessary.
In Dragon Age 2 I always struggled with Carver and in most of my playthroughs he was more of a rival than a friend though. At one time (I think it was the 3rd playthrough) to the degree that he really despised me because I was too demanding and overly pushy and a real jerk. But I was SO annoyed by him, because I really tried (again and again) to get on his good side and he did keep on nagging, nagging, nagging. Ugh! And here I was so happy to have a brother ingame (I always wanted one in rl but my parents didn't let me. Got 3 sisters instead.)
So Scott: Hope you'll be a nice brother (and you can be nerdy and dorky as hell! Really, I would love that!)

He drove me nuts, no matter what I did he hated it. I always tried to get on his good side but it never worked and I really wanted him to like me. I'm hoping the relationship with your twin in MEA is a lot more positive. I wouldn't mind some drama but in the end I want them to have a lot more of an accepting and friendly relationship. I love the idea of them supporting each other in bad times and questioning them when choices are being made. Overall I think whatever their relationship is like it (hopefully) can't be as bad as Carver could sometimes be.

I'm constantly amazed by people who manage to come up with a future character in such detail as shown in this thread.
I never know what kind of personality I'm going to play until I'm actually sitting in front of the character generator and some personality pops into my mind, grumbling and nagging until I get the face right...

And sometimes even then I still have a hard time picking what they look like.

But in terms of choosing a nasme I usually wai tuntil I've chosen a look something I can't choose yet as I need to see what the CC gives me before making it.

But I was SO annoyed by him, because I really tried (again and again) to get on his good side and he did keep on nagging, nagging, nagging. Ugh! And here I was so happy to have a brother ingame (I always wanted one in rl but my parents didn't let me. Got 3 sisters instead.) So Scott: Hope you'll be a nice brother (and you can be nerdy and dorky as hell! Really, I would love that!) I think you will always just be called Ryder unless you use the default names, then sometimes Sara or Scott. So you can use Samantha. At least that's the impression I got. yeah you can choose a name if you want the game will just refer to you as Ryder if you do. I may go withthe default name on the odd occasion but I've kind of already decided to go with something I'll create for that first run. It's just a case of what as I won't know what name to go with until I create them.

My female Ryder will be black, short black hair (yup, I dont get all the hype around needing long hair for females) and paragon. She will romance one of the female characters. She will be a mix of Biotics and Soldier (Vanguard).
My male Ryder will be Asian (South Korean look) with brown or dark blonde hair. He will be a renegade. He will romance a female (but not the same as my female Ryder). He will be an Engineer.

I know, I just use those terms to give a reference for how I will go about the personality type for each character.

I haven't decided on the appearance yet. I'll just see what's available in the character creation when I get to it and decide from there.

Snark. As long as I can have all the snark and wit and bad jokes, everything else will fall in place. Looks will be decided on the fly, but I usually play the a red haired, green eyed chick. Name? Not sure at this point. I'm tempted to leave the default so people actually use her first name. It never really bothered me in the trilogy, but if the options there, why not?
Class wise I've always played infiltrator, so I'll likely be something close to that. Maybe a biotic power thrown in because slam was always a fun bonus power. Oh, that headshot didn't drop you. THIS will~ :3
