So lately, all the games are crappy console ports. Frankly it seems like it would be better and cheaper just to get a console and join the plebs.
Any arguments against this course of action?

I guess it depends on where your preference lies mate. If you genuinely prefer playing on a PC, then just keep at it. If you don't really mind which port you play your game on, then make the switch. I switched out to a PS4 this year because I mostly wanted all those PS4 exclusive games. Am I going to miss playing on a PC? Yeah, for sure. Am I going to consider consoles a lesser gaming platform? Not really no, each port has it's ups and downs. It really depends on what your preferences are mate.

I'm going to ignore the comment about not considering consoles a lesser gaming platform But when looking at either upgrading to a new PC or getting a console, the console does seem to make more sense. I have been a PC gamer for I dunno, a good 15 years now. Switching to a controller would be a big change. I remember there was a time in my life I used a controller though, and it wasn't so bad. It was long ago, and I was having a bit of a holiday with my cousins and their xbox. They had a game called Scarface, which was hella fun. Selling cocaine and what not. Taking back Miami. Man, those days were awesome! Ima get a console!!

For the death of me I dont know how to use a controller. That and the fact PS/consoles doesn't have half the games I want to play.

Controllers seem to be alright for fighting games. I bought one to play Dark Souls on PC, and it was a good investment. But shooters, for example? I have seen people play DOOM with a controller, and it wasn't pretty. Plus I'm not very fond of the entire concept of aim assist. If your gaming input doesn't work well without such a crutch, something is not right. Can you see the difference between 30 and 60 FPS? Do you like to play shooter or strategy games? Do you like to occasionally replay a really old title? Then play on PC. Do you want to play certain console exclusives? Are you fine with using a controller for everything? Do you find PC gaming too much of a hassle to outweigh the advantages? The play on console by all means. Freedom of choice is a wonderful thing. And of course no one said that you have to toss out your PC when you buy a console. You could... *gasp*... play on BOTH.

Certainly I won't be tossing out my PC, but it's getting to the point where I need to upgrade in order to play newer games.
I'm not really bothered that much by 30 FPS, and don't play any FPS really. Mainly I like RPG's. Like ME3MP.
I feel like maybe there is a huge world of console exclusives that I'm missing out on!
I don't really find PC gaming a hassle, but it costs at least twice as much to get a new PC than to get a console, and with all these other devices floating around the PC seems to be becoming less and less useful.
I guess it comes down to what games are on what platform. On PC I find very little of interest on the horizon, and anything that is interesting is on consoles anyway. I don't know. Once the ME& specs and the game actually come out I'll have an idea of whether or not I NEED to choose one or the other.

Once the ME& specs and the game actually come out I'll have an idea of whether or not I NEED to choose one or the other. Yeah, this is the most important factor. Go where the games you like are being played. Even a super powerful PC won't do any good if you are looking to play console exclusives. There are some really good looking ones that occasionally make me ponder about getting a console too, but they are few and far between. As far as MEA hardware requirements on PC are concerned, I expect slightly higher ones than Battlefield 1 - always need to account for inexpert engine coding with BioWare, sadly. So, to come back to your original question - no, I don't have any hard arguments against the idea.

My first console game was Mass Effect (1) in 2009-ish (I had played it on PC).
Wow, using a controller was weird, I nearly gave up it felt so unnatural. I was flailing the stick all over the place because I wasn't used to it.
I'm glad I stuck with it because over time I prefer it, but the transition should not be underestimated.

Ive always had more experience with consoles than I have on pc... my ex used to own a console, then earlier this year I bought a PS3, and then my mom got a PS4 for my birthday But ive recently started to play games on pc also... my pc is quite old, and it isnt the best, but I can play mass effect 3 on it My list of pc games is: Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines The Darkness II Mass Effect 3 Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy KOTOR KOTOR 2 SWTOR Railroad Tycoon 3 GRID I love playing on my pc its a lot of fun, but like... its very complicated, and theres so much to go wrong and for someone like me when Im not really a techie its hard sometimes like with Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines... I just kept getting an error as soon as I started to try and boot up the game so I had to ask for help and then download a patch, and even now the game keeps freezing... no idea whats wrong with it Also, for things like shooters and stuff where you use wsad to move and the mouse to aim, theyre great... but on GRID especially it sucks, because the directional controls... you either have them fully on or fully off, I cant control how much gas I use or how much I turn its either 100% or nothing, so I kept spinning out and yeah... wasnt great... had to google if I could plug my PS4 controller in... turns out I could, so I have to use that to race On a PS4 or PS3 I can just plug it in and put a disc in and play a game, which is fine... I kinda find the PS4 controller to be a little too big whereas the PS3 controller was great for me PC gaming seems good for people who know a lot about technology and have quite a lot of money and play fighting games... or at least thats my general impression of things personally I DO prefer my ps4, but I love the games I have on my PC also... but I prefer a controller to mouse and keyboard When I first started playing on pc it took me quite a long time to get used to a mouse and keyboard, aiming with a mouse is great but it was the keys which caused me more problems than anything... it took me a while to figure out which keys to put my fingers on and yeah... PS4 is great for me because I dont have to spend lots of money (especially since it was for my birthday), and it doesnt matter how good my pc is I can just play all the newest games

I recently bought The Last of Us on sale for my PS3. Old 160GB fat still kicking like a champ. I played the Force Unleashed games on PS3, the Batman Arkham series on PS3, LBP, Star Wars Lego, etc... I still am a Mustard Race elite snob, but I dabble in the dark arts of ancient console necromancy. I still play my Dreamcast occasionally.

Maybe I'm being too binary here, like, I can be a multi-platform gamer, sometimes PC, sometimes console. Roll both ways. Transcend platform based stereotypes! That's what I do, though I figure if you want to game on pc with high end equipment plus play on console it would become very costly. Especially when both Xbox One and PS4 require a subscription to play online mp, then you have things like "EA Access" if you choose to partake. My pc is definitely not a "high end" model. Hell, it won't even run Divinity Original Sin but can run Tyranny just fine. Go figure. (Though that has more to do with the graphics card and the processor). But the reason I play across all platforms is so I can experience all sorts of games i.e I am a fan of the Persona games which you can only get on Sony consoles/portable. Yes, I know you can get a crack to play those on pc but no, I always run into technical difficulties when I dabble in that. Personally, if I were you I would just stick with the pc. Like somebody else said, superior graphics, the option to mod games (only a few games on console can be modded atm) access to a wider range of games.. if you use Steam, games are a lot cheaper. I paid 30 AUD for the Marvel Ultimate Alliance bundle whereas if I purchased that on console I'd be paying 100 AUD.

Hmm, you make some good points there donk.
It may not really be cheaper to use a console since you're paying more for games, and having to pay a subscription to play MP is something I could not stand for. So that is for real? I mean, yeah I heard about but I thought like, surely not right? Surely you don't have to pay a monthly subscription just to access online MP, RIGHT?

New releases will cost the same as they would on PC. However, sales are less frequent and generally less tantalizing than Steam sales.
Playstation Network and Xbox Live both require a paid subscription to play online in 95% of games (there are some exceptions at least on PS, but they are few and far between). $60 USD/12mo, but I'm pretty sure you can get a digital code off of Amazon for a bit less.
Both services offer two free games to paid users every month as an incentive, but the games seem to be randomly selected and as such there's a fairly equal spread of good games and duds offered.

Consoles are more popular, their playerbase is huge and sales are more substantial there. Even franchises that in the past used to be PC-only like Battlefield today their PC sales represent only 5-10% of the total sales. So it makes total sense for companies to focus much more on consoles, from a profit-oriented standpoint.
My last console was the PS2, and I have no intentions to buy a console again. I love PC hardware and I love gaming on PC. But we, PC players, who prefer graphical fidelity, customization, utility, Steam/Origin/Battlenet and mouse/keyboard are going against the tide in the gaming world. What most gamers care about is having fun. And consoles deliver that, while being a simpler and more user friendly piece of technology than a gaming PC.

I wish I could simply transcend platforms and experience the best of both. If I had more money and time, I might buy a console, too. But since my budget and free time is limited, I am not going to buy a console just to play some games there. I think some console gamers have the same view regarding PC gaming. Therefore most people have to go one route or the other.

I've been a console player for life. I really want to upgrade to a PC but the only ture advantage PC had was mods and great prices.
Now Xbone and PS4 has ridiculous deals and big companies don't allows their games to be modded.
Even 60fps is starting to show up on consoles.

I think this is a deliberate move on the part of the console industry. Consoles are, at this point, extremely specialized, albiet heavily gimped, PCs. There's no incentive to buy a console when they are several hundreds of dollars plus accessories, and poorly perform a handful of tasks that a PC could do easily, along with infinitely more. So the solution to keep consoles relevant is to make the PC versions not so good.
And from a developer standpoint, it's also easier to develop for a console, as there is one set hardware configuration.
All that said, I'm personally never buying another console, and if PC ports get any worse than they currently are then I'll just do better things with my time.

Console players are vastly superior than the so-called "PC Master Race". In truth I can do almost everything on my Xbox One and PS4 that I can do on my PC, and I can play Blu-Rays on my Xbox One and PS4, which is something I can't do on my PC, and I don't have waste money and time on worrying if my PC is up to spec. Plus I absolutely HATE playing with a keyboard and a mouse for me it is no fun and just a huge pain. While I like some of the mods for Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition I can play the games just fine without them.

My two cents on the matter are that both consoles and PCs serve different niches despite becoming more and more similar as the years go by. Consoles are aimed at a demographic of people who just want to "set it and forget it" so to speak. They largely want to be able to buy games without having to make sure their system is within the requirements, have access to a Blu-ray player that has more functionality than a normal player, lounge around on the couch or in a recliner, any combination of the above, or any other personal preference.
PC gaming's demographic are largely people who value performance and/or customization over intuitiveness (even though massive strides have been made on that front in the last decade), people who want to have one box to fill all their work and entertainment needs, people who prefer precision over comfort, or again any personal preference that I didn't list.
There's nothing wrong with picking one or the other, in fact there is value in having access to both provided it doesn't add any stress to your budget. Consoles will have titles exclusive to their platform (although it seems like MS is trying to build a bridge between Xbox Ones and Win10 PCs) and a larger playerbase due to their increased accessiblity, while PCs are infinitely backwards compatible (in theory) and can even emulate older console titles with varying degrees of success.

It sounds like the new xbox thing (project Scorpio? ) will continue this trend of xbox/pc compatibility. I've been reading a lil bit, an interesting tidbit is this: (http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/consoles/next-xbox-release-date-news-and-rumors-1266462) I presume that means not exclusive to the newer version of their console, rather than not exclusive to their brand.

In the context of that quote, that is correct. A game designed to work on an original PS4/Xbox One must also work on a PS4 Pro and Project Scorpio, and vice versa. Kinda like how a game on PC has to work on both low-end and high-end systems. It's harder to convince people to buy a game if they have to upgrade their setup specifically for that game.
