The Daily Fail: Novice Solo-ers Support Thread (Now with less fail!)

I have failed a lot yesterday, collector are really cheating me (drell dept with crusader), cerb too . I might redo the tsol vs reapa.
I tried saboteur arc pistol yesterday, went well up to w8 or 9. I did some really cool stuff, too bad it always end bad.

Tried the Destroyer and suddenly phantoms are a laughing manner. Venom makes those bitches plead for mercy but of course, they shall get none I think this was my first attempt where I managed not to die on wave one. Of course, goons had to rectify that on wave two and wave three saw me burn way too many consumables on pizza delivery, because I couldn't kite properly... again. *sigh*

Fail on wave four, due to banshee grab... because my stupid controller decided to take a pause and I couldn't escape to save my sorry ass Completion time, 16:58.

Was fun, gonna try again.

My actual solo project ATM:

HV with Talon on Condor/Collectors/Platinum. Part of the Prestacious challenge Alliance Troopers by capn.

Wave 8 is really a mess, although playing with responder package. Those Primes sniping around the whole map and burning my medigels.Connection lost due to router restart at the end of wave 8....glorious.

Always ration your missiles. They have 4 purposes: spawn nuking, "oh, shit!", objective wave equalizer and post-objective cleanup. Objective waves equalizer means that sometimes you have to brute force your way through a sticky situation, which often arise on objective waves since their composition is designed by way of threat and unlimited wave budget to push you relentlessly. Those are your most important nukes. As a rule of thumb, I try to keep 2 missiles for wave 10 - one for pushing through and one for cleanup, ideally. It's better to miss a good spawn on 9, than to fail on 10.

Escort is usually one of the easier options when soloing. Always keep a cool head and evaluate when to escort and when to kite stuff away from the drone. When kiting, hold ground on the other side of the map and kill off the fast moving units first until the slow ones come to you, then go back to the drone (missiles are sometimes needed for the motherf*cking Atlas/Prime campers). I know this is common sense, but it is exactly in the heat of the moment (especially on wave 10), when exhaustion and excitement take over, that people forget the basics.

EDIT: When playing against Collectors on Plat, always , always keep a cleanup missile for post-objective wave 10. It's the deadliest of them all.

When i grinded for blasteroid challenge(volos sentinel,he doesn't have a true offensive power,with an avenger on condor vs the trollectors) i was synced by the last phantroll on 9 wave after 95 minutes of gameplay in one of the attempts.Have you ever heard a word from me for that?No!

^ yeah some of those challenges are really geared for people whose other hobbies include self-flagellation and sticking pieces of glass under their fingernails

Wave 10 Fail

Got great objectives, good time (cut 15 min off my first solo), just a couple dumb plays...fuck me. Nothing like a post objective wave 10 fail. I'm going to quietly sob in the corner. Build, the acolyte was great for wave 7 and 9, and really helped do some damage from a distance where the hurricane isn't the best. If I try this again I may use the Venom or Harrier.

I still consider myself as a scrub with 77 minutes for a plat solo. So I do belong in here.

Good luck, I'd rather try Geth on Hazard Glacier with a flawless heavy melee only lvl 1 Volus than attempting anything with the Trollectors again
