Jeph Shepard, Spacer/Sentinel/Butcher of Torfan: - Headed to the Citadel to find out the situation with Udina. Problem was that the main communications line was down. Joker switched to an emergency channel and found himself talking to Thane. Cerberus had taken control and Kaidan was with the Council. I could understand TIM wanting this but pulling together the resources for it made no sense. Manpower, cruisers, weapons...it seemed impossible, but here it was. When James, Liara and I set down in a shuttle, all C-Sec personnel were dead save Commander Bailey. He set up a new channel for communications and learned that Councilor Valern suspected betrayal from on high was very likely. He was meeting with the executor, something Bailey said would only happen if someone important were about to be prosecuted. Seemed likely it was Udina. - We headed out to find Valern. The executor was dead but no sign of Valern. Then I spotted him below, removing his cloak. Why would he do that? Then some asshole with a sword dropped down and tried to kill him. Might have, too, had Thane not showed up and fought him. Thane paid for it, though, with a sword through his gut. Then the assassin took off and we had to pursue, leaving Thane to be cared for by others. Before we left, Valern told us that Udina was behind it all and that he was leading the other Councilors to Cerberus. Kaidan was with them. Shit. Given that Udina had been the one to offer him the job, Kaidan would not see betrayal coming. - What really made no sense was that they weren't just killing C-Sec but also civilians - human civilians included. How does this serve humanity? We did discover that in following the assassin we were also following the other Councilors. We headed to an elevator and it was a race as to who would get to them first. Fortunately, Bailey was able to override the other elevator to make it stop on every floor while ours continued on. We made it to them. Udina accused me of being with Cerberus and put me in a standoff I never wanted in my life. - Kaidan was understandably wary of me pointing a gun at a Councilor. However, he did trust me and when Udina tried to open the doors he turned his gun on him. The asari councilor acknowledged that mistrusting me had always been a mistake. When Udina pulled on gun on her, Kaidan did his duty and took the shot. That he took a kill shot was surprising. - Thane was dying. For all that he had been slowly, expecting to wither away, it was ultimately front-line service that did it. Whatever his past didn't matter anymore. Thane was a hero. And now his life was at an end. I wanted to be there with Thane and his son, Kolyat, as he passed. We read from a prayer book about asking for salvation. I didn't get it. Thane had to have redeemed himself. Afterward, I asked Kolyat about it. In his last moments, Thane wasn't praying for himself, but for me. This was a friendship I would have fought for. Damn. - Found Conrad Verner preaching for Cerberus because he remembered I was with them in the past. I set him straight and he helped me find the guy who had sabotaged the medi-gel dispensers. Oddly enough, he was able to provide me with some schematics that could help with the Crucible. Even weirder, when Conrad pointed out his Cerberus contact, and the guy tried to shoot me, Conrad jumped between me and the bullet. However, weirdest yet, Jenna - who I'd helped when she was working undercover at Chora's Den for C-Sec a few years back - had sabotaged the gun so that instead of firing, it's thermal clip overheated. Then they two walked off to flirt or something. - When I returned to the Normandy, Kaidan was waiting to talk to me in the docking bay. He wasn't happy with how things went down, particularly not facing off against me. He wondered if I'd have shot him if he hadn't backed down but I told him I could never do that. He was officially coming back to the Normandy, if I wanted him. I did. Don't know what that means for our relationship but my fingers are crossed. - Back to Noveria with Kaidan and Garrus to take out a Cerberus base. Easy enough and gave us control of some Cerberus fighters. - Met with Liara in my cabin. She wanted to leave behind a "beacon" in the event that we didn't survive the war so that the next cycle could be prepared from the start. But she had an entry on me going in and wanted my input. I told her to be honest and let history judge my actions. - Kaidan sent a message about meeting for dinner at Apollo's Cafe when we next went to the Citadel. I, ah, decided that could happen now. So we met. Kaidan said he'd always loved me and wanted to make things real between us. Not a surprise given how strong his reaction on Horizon. That was betrayal in his voice then. Now that he knew I hadn't betrayed him, hadn't even been with anyone since him on the SR1, he wanted to rekindle things. I wanted that, too. - Some mercs were after the volus ambassador for having made some deals with Cerberus. Hired by turians. I had to find him before he was killed. Zaeed was involved. A tracking device he'd left behind let me communicate with the volus. I got him to drop my name. The volus also knew about a turian colony being targeted by Cerberus so keeping him alive mattered. When I got there, the other mercs were down and Zaeed was waiting for me. I tried to get the intel out of the volus but he was too scared, instead offering a volus bombing fleet. Now I wanted both. When he resisted, I told Zaeed he could take a crack at him. The volus relented and I got the name of the turian colony and the fleet. Threats really do work.

Jeph Shepard, Spacer/Sentinel/Butcher of Torfan:
- Had a chat with Zaeed. Cerberus had tried to recruit them and he happened to see a trooper unmasked, saw they'd become like husks. He's been after them ever since.
- Landed on Gellix to find some Cerberus scientists. They were being attacked by Cerberus troopers, which told us a lot. Jacob Taylor was with them. Gavin Archer was also here, the asshole who'd experimented on his autistic brother. He wanted to know how David was doing. I didn't think he deserved to know. When I had told him I was taking David, he said that David was "too valuable". I didn't expect him to commit suicide but I also didn't shed any tears over it. When I found out there were families here, the mission took on a greater importance. I helped them make some repairs to their comm towers and AA guns that allowed them to escape. I then recruited them to work on the Crucible. Jacob was in love with one of the scientists so he was staying with them rather than coming with me.

Korynn and Miranda visited the facility on Pragia with Jack. It was intense, and very humbling. Later, Korynn broke up a fight between Jack and Miranda, then had a nice heart-to-heart with Jack. Korynn thinks Jack has a lot of potential with many things, including chair throwing.
Met with the Krogan. There was lots of destruction and headbutting. Dad (Aethyta) would be proud.
Visited Liara a few times on her new ship. Brought some curtains, a pyjack leather sofa, some tables, and other housewarming gifts. There were also shenanigans.

Jeph Shepard, Spacer/Sentinel/Butcher of Torfan: - Back to Eden Prime, where it all began for us. Two out of three of us will be the same but Liara will be coming along since we're looking into a Prothean artifact. When we got there we saw it was a Prothean in stasis rather than an artifact. I can understand why Cerberus would want this but no idea how they expected to communicate. It's not like we had translators for Prothean. Though I knew I could understand it. - First thing I found gave me memories of the final days of the Protheans. I saw the Reaper attack, I saw what they looked like - both similarities and differences to Collectors and I saw how they sealed the life pod. That meant I could unseal it but we still didn't know how to end the stasis. Only I understood it. For whatever reason, the Prothean "video" appeared as static to anyone who wasn't Prothean or didn't have the Cipher. I would have thought Liara being in my mind would have done the trick. Too bad Shiala wasn't with us. She'd also understand this. Second video showed the stasis signal, which I was able to program into my omni-tool. We fought off Cerberus troops while the life pod was doing it's de-thawing thing. Then, out jumped a Prothean, who was...fidgety. Then he sunk into despair when he realized he was the only Prothean in existence. - On board, Liara wanted to talk to the Prothean but the idiot guards decided to "dust off the regulation" and assume hostilities in regard to new species. Sure, maybe if they showed up at our front door, but I brought this guy here. We chatted and Javik agreed to fight with us against the Reapers. I imagine he's very angry and will want vengeance.

Really Javik, you are the embodiment of vengence? On another note, the scars in-game are not like this specially around the eyes. Which is a shame. Essentially Shepard is more or less like EDI? The head and face structure are still bones, but is coated or overlaid with methalic material and implants. But yeah, synthesis is the solution to joint organic and synthetic matter...

dmc1001 : I don't think I ever mentioned it, but I really like your Shepard's looks. I played a bit more on Sunday and Monday. "Hi Alec, we just picked up another recruit, Thane Krios. A drell and assassin. On Liara's computer on Illium I got info on a contact of his, Seryna. She's some former security expert for Nassana Dantius. Man, Nassana was the one whose slaver sister I stumbled upon and killed some years back. Seryna told us about Thane and Nassane, his target. She was a big help and later even took us to the Dantius Towers. Turns out Nassana was just as much of a cruel bitch as her sister, getting people killed to cover up her secrets. When we arrived we already saw what she was capable of. We talked to a wounded salarian, and he told us Nassana let mechs loose to go after her own workers. If she wouldn't have been Thane's target anyway, I'd have somehow stopped her myself. It was a long way to where Nassana was, and we had to take out a lot of her mercs. But in the end we made it to her penthouse. She was paranoid and thought I was the one who wanted to kill her. Of course I told her I wasn't about to, when Thane dropped down from the ceiling and took out her guards with fast, precise movements. It all happened within a few seconds. He's good. He shot Nassana and prayed. It was surprising to hear that Thane didn't pray for her, but for himself. I remember how Thane had locked up some of Nassana's workers to keep them safe, which was kind of him to do. He's definitely something else. Taking down Nassana was supposed to be his last job, because... He's dying, Alec. Has some disease that can't be healed. I feel sad for him, but I hope this mission can take his mind off things. When I told him we are after the Collectors, he said he wants to help. Help innocent people, make the galaxy a better place. And he wants to atone for not being able to save more innocent people today at the Dantius Towers. He really is different. The fact that he's a drell means I learned more about this race. I asked him about their culture and religion. It's quite fascinating. He believes in multiple gods for various situations. I'm sure you'd find this very interesting as well. Can't wait to see what else he can tell me, and I'm also curious about our next recruit, Samara. I'm heading out tomorrow again to find her, and I also promised to help Miranda with something. Talk to you soon. -Dee" Catching an assassin: 2 deaths this time, it seems I never can do Thane's recruitment without dying at least once Both were pretty stupid again though. The first got me while I was in cover (crappy camera angle death again) and in the second I accidentally vaulted over something instead of staying in cover. Haha. Oh well, at least I got to carry the Viper around for some parts of this mission. I still love this rifle

Korynn finished Samara's loyalty mission.
The death of Morinth was heartbreaking to her. On return to Normandy, she locked herself in her quarters and cried. Tonight is more scanning, and maybe a visit to the Flotilla.

fraggle : Is it the red hair? Though he's less a redhead in ME3 than he was ME1/2. Thanks! Jeph Shepard, Space/Sentinel/Butcher of Torfan: - Touched down on Lessus to investigate the gone-silent asari colony. Brought Liara [who I just realized you don't have to bring] and Kaidan. Liara said it was an Ardat-Yakshi monastery for those who chose seclusion over becoming mass murderers like Morinth. Still dangerous but much less likely to try to seduce us. Commandos had been sent to purge the monastery and were MIA. A still-warm skycar was there ahead of us. Too small for the commandos so someone else was interested. - The power had been cut so it was dark on entry - mainly to keep the elevator off. (But there were ladders so that was pointless.) There were also piercing screams in the distance, like banshees out of myth. Found dead cannibals and dead asari commandos. At first I wasn't sure about blowing it up as the asari intended but Reapers here changed my mine. Never mind their presence, but who knew what they might turn Ardat-Yakshi into? In another room, I saw Samara taking out some cannibals. She told me she was here for her daughters and that the Reapers were already present when she arrived. She said they were her responsibility but that could be taken in more than one way, even given that she said they had been non-violent. - As we continued on, we saw what made those shrieks. Long, slender, clearly female - had to be Ardat-Yakshi turned into monsters by the Reapers. Liara took it very personal now that it was her own race. Didn't shed a year over all those husks we've been fighting the past three years. When we caught up to Samara she was with her youngest daughter, Falere. Mentioned that the Reapers had her sister Rila. Also confirmed that the Reapers were turning them into those creatures. I was willing to try to rescue her, if only for Samara's sake, but the place was still going up. - Finally made it to the main hall where the bomb was located. Samara, Falere and Rila were all there but something was wrong with Rila. I had a bad feeling about it. Samara was suggesting that the transformation to banshee was already in effect, even though she looked normal. Strange, since it took dragon's teeth to change humans. Or maybe it really didn't and that was just for the geth. Then her eyes turned black and she became aggressive. Not crazy, and she stopped after being pushed away, but something was off. What sucked was that we couldn't find the detonator for the bomb. Banshees, husks and cannibals all started coming in en masse. - We had to fight them off. Turned out Rila had the detonator. She had enough presence of mind that she was willing to sacrifice herself to save her sister and stop the creation of more banshees. Besides, she knew she'd be one of them soon enough if she survived. Had to drag Falere out. I suppose centuries of living there with her sister made them very close and she was really her only relative since Samara hadn't been there in a very long time. We saw banshees closing in on her as the elevator doors closed. Still, she managed to set off the bomb. - Outside, Samara talked about the justicar code and how it didn't permit Ardat-Yakshi to live outside a monastery that no longer existed. Thing was, she could no bring herself to kill her last daughter and so chose to kill herself. I wasn't about to let that happen. No way to see the name of another friend on my memorial wall, not if I could help it. Falere said it was unnecessary since she'd stay there and, if the Reapers returned, would not be taken alive. Samara was satisfied with that, vowing to return after the war if still alive. Samara said she'd join the fight now. - Went to Utukku to find out about some missing krogan scouts for Wrex. On touchdown we found Grunt there in charge of Aralakh Company. He'd fought his way to the top to earn that position. There was no confirmed rachni presence here but since they'd been on Tuchanka it wasn't all that unlikely. We got separated from Aralakh when a prefab collapsed into a tunnel. Did see webbing, a sure sign of rachni (or giant spiders, I suppose). Saw eggs and wires, sure signs of Reaper tech and rachni. Then the massive Reaper tech was in evidence. - The Reapers were definitely breeding the rachni for war. We were getting hit hard, probably to keep us from the breeding chamber. In the central chamber we ran into what looked the the rachni queen. It said it wasn't, instead a Reaper creation designed to churn out an army. It said it would fight Reapers but I knew better. No way this thing wasn't indoctrinated and I killed the last rachni queen I'd met just for the potential threat. No, it had to stay chained up and be overrun by its "children". Grunt came to lead us out but the rachni were on us. He knew we'd only escape if he stayed behind to fight. Looked like this was his last stand. - Waited for a bit outside the tunnels but there was no sign of Grunt when the shuttle arrived to pick us up. I felt a little sad. I'd "birthed" Grunt out of his tank and had loved seeing that he was grown up and a part of his people. As I turned to walk away I heard something. When I looked back I saw Grunt, covered in what I hoped was rachni blood. He'd fought his way out and proved that whatever twisted genetic engineering had been done to create him, it was worth it.

Fired ME1 up. For reasons. Stupid reasons, but still. Not much of note happened, but Kaidan was in some sort of a mood and starting hogging the squads screen and the menu select screen. And he was persistent. Open the codex, he's gone then open squad and BAM DID YA MISS ME?!. So that was fun. Got a nice pic that would have been kind of sweet if not for stats. Then loaded up ME3 to do that party. Tried the arena first, mirror match and got to the second round. Yay? Did the party, first loud then quiet. Prefer the loud one in theory, but the quiet one had nicer talks and (kind of) a moment with Samara. So going with that. Got the silly picture. (Kind of big, so be careful) Kind of forgot that Joker attended the party as well (not sure why) so the idea of cutting out James and Cortez heads and switching them with Kelly and Chakwas was less amusing. But yeah, these are the (current) survivors of working with Kathrine. As usual the picture changed a bit once in frame and...Glyph why. Why you got to be like this. And thinking about putting this run on ice for now. Don't think Samara gets any special lines at the last phone call and I just don't want to bother with Earth. Just no. Got what I wanted with this run, don't need no more. Might load up some other Shepperino instead.

I made a list of the feelz I got from ME2/ME3. I played back in February/March for the first time, I believe, and havne't played since. So, I thought I'd share.
Feelings about OT: (I only played 2 and 3)
ME2: Telling Kaidan to get off the ship so I could go for Joker- and dying. Being upset by Kaidan yelling at me. Being supremely disgusted by Jacob Being unimpressed with Miranda Being impressed with Samara Falling in love with Thane Laughing as I told TIM to fuck off. Bonus Round: Mordin's song and patting myself on the back for only losing Legion (I was playing blind, I didn't know his importance.)
ME3: Every moment of the intro was amazing Enjoying battle mechanics for the first time ever Dancing for Real instead of the stupid dancing. The entire Geth/Quarian Arc that resulted in Tali suicide diving into the abyss still haunts me Thane Dying- and doing the drinking too much thing in response, ending up in the elevator was a new low. Thane's funeral in the DLC The moment when I try to pull the clone up, and she chose death was deep Turning Kaidan down when he asked to be together. The way Javik looked like his entire race had just died when he got evac'd at the "big scene" The creepiness of all the bodies and blood. Anderson dying (even though I didn't see him as a father figure, he was a good man who had fought at my side.) Making the decision about the Reapers. I bawled so hard. SO HARD. Picking Control because I couldn't non consensually make the entire galaxy into a hybrid, nor could I value my life over the Organic/Synthetic Alliance I'd sacrificed the entire Quarian race for.
All of ME3 was full of win, to be honest.
Except Jacob. He's a disgusting creep I'll allow to die in ME2 on my next PT.

"Hey Alec. I successfully recruited Samara for our mission. We followed the information we got from Liara's terminal and headed to Nos Astra's commercial spaceport. There we talked to a volus merchant and found out that his business partner had been killed by Eclipse mercs in a back alley the previous night. He mentioned that Samara was at the crime scene to investigate, and sent us to talk to the local police if we wanted to go in. I spoke with Detective Anaya and told her that I need Samara for my mission. I got clearance to go after her since Anaya wanted Samara out of her district. Well, actually it was her bosses who wanted her to detain Samara because they feared there'd be some sort of cross-species incident. The thing about this was that Samara is an asari justicar. I had never heard of this term before, but it's quite similar to a Spectre, just that they don't have anyone that governs them, like the Council does. Justicars give up everything, their possessions, family... Can't imagine how someone would want to give these up voluntarily. Anyway, justicars follow a code, one which punishes the bad guys and protects the innocent, but is rather black and white, and Samara's code would not allow her to be taken into custody. She'd have to kill Anaya if she did. Naturally Anaya wanted her out of there as fast as possible. We went in and found Samara, in the process of killing a merc. Anaya had already suspected that Samara wasn't here because of the murdered volus, because justicars usually stay in asari space, and she was right. Samara was after a dangerous criminal. Eclipse mercs had smuggled her off-world, so Samara tried to find the ship she had been on. We made a deal. Samara's code allowed her to cooperate with Detective Anaya for 24 hours, and I would get the ship name for Samara. Once I had the name she'd join my mission. It wasn't easy to find it as we had to fight way too many mercs for my liking, but eventually we had the name, and could return to Samara and Anaya. Jacob and I welcomed Samara on the Normandy, then I headed out again with Miranda and Kasumi to help Miranda with her sister. Her sister, Oriana, had been kept safe from her father by Cerberus, in a foster family. But Miranda had heard from her sources that he likely knew Oriana is on Illium. She was afraid he'd try something, so she had asked me a while ago to help make sure Cerberus could relocate Oriana's family before her father found her again. So we met with Miranda's contact on Nos Astra and found out that Miranda's childhood friend, Niket, had warned the contact about her father sending in mercs and offered to escort Oriana's family to the terminal personally. Miranda trusted Niket, so she agreed. We would deal with the mercs in the meantime. In the process I learned that Miranda actually 'kidnapped' her sister some years ago when she was still a baby. That's some pretty drastic measure, but her father must be really awful. I can understand why she did it. Well, we ended up fighting the mercs and soon reached Niket. But as it turned out, he was not on Miranda's side. Miranda never told him she had taken her sister until recently, and now he wanted to take Oriana back to her father so they could be a family again. He was just trying to do the right thing. It sucks that it ended with his death. Miranda was ready to kill him, because Niket actually hadn't told her father anything about Oriana yet, so he was the only loose end. I kept her from doing it, but one of the bloody mercs shot him. Can you imagine? Being betrayed by your only friend and seeing him get killed, too? That's some rough shit. But I'm glad that Miranda at least still has her sister. After we had dealt with the remaining mercs we saw her safe and sound with her family, happy. I have to admit seeing this family was a bit tough. What I would have given to talk to my sis just one more fucking time. That's why I also urged Miranda to go talk to Oriana. She still has her sister. They can still talk and laugh, be there for each other. I didn't want her to waste this moment and I'm glad she listened to me. Their meeting went well and Miranda was really moved. I've never seen her like that. She acts all tough and cold, but behind that facade is a caring woman. It doesn't even matter anymore that she works for Cerberus. I will check up on her later, and Kelly also mentioned that Garrus and Samara want to see me. But first... I'm having dinner with Kelly. She should be here soon. Man, I'm starving, so I hope our cook prepares something nice for us. It's been a long time since I had dinner with someone and I think it will be nice. Talk to you soon. -Dee" Pics! It's so weird how the (very awesome) ME1 elevator music is playing shortly before the fight with Enyala. It's supposed to be a serious topic about Niket switching sides and then that music It's only for a bit, but still hilarious! And I'm happy dinner with Kelly still happened

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME2 cont'd: Dr T'Soni (or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Shadow Broker) – part 1 Illium – Nos Astra Exchange Shepard was almost ready to head to the derelict Reaper ship to continue the fight against the Collectors. All of the outstanding personal issues of the crew had been taken care of, and everyone was focused and ready. There was just one more piece of unfinished business to take care of. Shepard wanted to find out where things stood with Liara; even if the relationship was over, she wanted to make sure Liara was safe and happy. Liara's obsession with the Shadow Broker made it almost impossible to get her to focus on anything else, however. Cerberus had given Shepard intel on the Shadow Broker to pass on to Liara – Shepard suspected Cerberus was up to something – their “help” always seemed to come with consequences - but she trusted Liara to figure out if the data was legitimate and useful. She had Tali and Samara join her back at the Nos Astra Exchange and the three of them headed to Liara's office for a meeting. Along the way Shepard overheard and asari on a call with transport officials about a lost locket of hers. Shepard had found a locket at the shipping yard while stopping Eclipse from getting to Miranda's sister, so she returned it to the asari, who was relieved to have it back - “it's the only thing my child has to remember her father by.” Liara looked over the intel Cerberus had provided, which provided clues as to the Shadow Broker's hiding place, and more importantly, confirmed that her friend Feron was still alive. Feron had helped Liara recover Shepard and keep her from the Collectors and the Broker following the destruction of the Normandy SR1, and Liara had assumed he'd been killed by the Broker's mercenaries. Shepard promised to help get him back - “any friend of yours is a friend of mine.” Liara needed time to review the data and plan their next move. She asked Shepard to meet at her apartment at a later time. Shepard checked out the Nos Astra shops to see if any new upgrades or equipment had been stocked, then stopped in at Eternity to say hi to Matriarch Aethyta. Illium – Liara's Apartment Shepard, Tali and Samara arrived at Liara's place, and found it was a crime scene. Evidently, the Shadow Broker had gotten word that Liara was getting close and tried to take her out. She had survived the assassination attempt and escaped, and Illium police were investigating, along with, curiously, a Spectre agent named Tela Vasir. Shepard was immediately suspicious – why would a Spectre be interested in an attack on an information broker. Vasir had to be mixed up in it somehow – either with the Broker, Cerberus, or some other party she wasn't aware of. Unfortunately, Shepard couldn't see any way to find out Vasir's agenda other than by playing along, so she set about helping Vasir look for clues on Liara's whereabouts. It was dangerous, but Shepard saw no other alternative. Eventually they found a data disk hidden in such a way that only Shepard could have found it. The disk contained a recording of a call by Liara arranging a meeting with a salarian named Sekat at the Baria Frontiers office in the Dracon Trade Centre. Vasir knew the building and offered to take them there in her car. Illium – Dracon Trade Centre As they arrived at the Dracon Trade Centre, an explosion went off on the third floor, the same floor that Baria Frontiers was on. The Broker's forces were still one step ahead of them, it seemed. Shepard feared the worst, but she knew that Liara could take care of herself. Still, she didn't waste any time getting up to the third floor. Vasir took the skycar up to the roof to prevent anyone escaping that way. On the way up to Baria Frontiers, Shepard discovered that some of the dead were killed by gunfire, not the explosion, which meant the Broker's mercs were on the scene. The log book at the Baria office confirmed Liara had arrived shortly before the explosion. Shepard and her team entered and were attacked by the Shadow Broker's forces. They cleared them out and looked around. They found a room with the body of Sekat, along with the body of the merc who killed him, and Vasir. “If I'd been a few seconds faster, I could have stopped them.” Nothing fishy about that. Liara showed up, safe and sound (to Shepard's relief), and revealed that Vasir was the one who'd tried to assassinate her. Evidently she had been working for the Broker all along. Part of Shepard regretted not taking her out back at Liara's apartment, but killing colleagues based on nothing but suspicion how she operated. Now, Sekat and a lot of innocent people had died thanks to Vasir's two botched assassination attempts. Liara correctly deduced that Vasir had Sekat's data disk – with the location of the Shadow Broker's hideout – on her. Vasir ran, and while Liara gave chase Shepard and her team cleared out the remaining mercs. Vasir eventually reached her skycar and fled, and Liara, Shepard and Tali hopped into another car to continue the chase (Samara remained at the Dracon Trade Centre to deal with the Illium authorities – hopefully, having a Justicar explain the situation would help smooth things over with the cops). They chased Vasir's skycar, with Shepard having to deal with heavy traffic, proximity mines laid by Vasir, and Liara's backseat driving (“Go go go go go go!”, “I'm going!” ). Eventually they intercepted Vasir and caused her to crash on a rooftop parking lot. (to be continued)

Melody Shepard, Colonist/Sole Survivor/Infiltrator, ME3 Insanity: On the eve of the assault on Cerberus HQ, Melody threw a party for comrades past and present. Initially, she set the tone for an energetic party, but dialed things down a bit when her friends started getting rowdy. Even so, and despite her Lazarus-enhanced resistance to intoxicants, Melody woke up the next morning with a bit of a headache. She tried to make up some sleep en route to the Horsehead Nebula, but the memories of the fallen once again haunted her dreams. An Alliance armada kept the Cerberus fleet occupied while Cortez shuttled Melody, EDI and Kaidan to the base's fighter hangar. For this mission, Melody had donned Cerberus armour for one last time, purely for the irony of taking her erstwhile allies down using their own equipment. As the trio proceeded through the base, EDI's knowledge of Cerberus ciphers and her adaptive cyberwarfare protocols proved invaluable. The base was a goldmine of information: the squad recovered video logs of the Lazarus Project, showing the extent of the work that was done to reanimate Melody; EDI's creation from a combination of the Alliance Luna VI and Reaper tech recovered from Sovereign; Kai Leng's various activities; and evidence of the Illusive Man becoming his own final test subject. The blood-splattered walls of the various laboratories told their own story. The Cerberus troops encountered in the base were many, but as incompetent as Melody had come to expect. The indoctrination programmes made them fiercely loyal, but apparently incapable of anything beyond basic tactics. (Zero deaths). The malign presence of the proto-Reaper recovered from the Collector base and repurposed as the base's mainframe was likely serving to further indoctrinate and corrupt the soldiers. Arriving at the Illusive Man's private office, Melody recovered the Prothean VI taken from Thessia and learned that the "Catalyst" was, in fact, the Citadel; incorporated into the Crucible's design in a past cycle for reasons unknown. Nothing remained to be done besides settling the score with Kai Leng. He and his personal guard put up a strong fight (several deaths, as I expected from having to fight a Phantom on steroids), but Melody prevailed, smashed his sword and ran him through with her omni-blade. All that remained to be done was to complete the Crucible and finish the Reapers once and for all. Not a simple matter, given that the Indoctrinated Man had tipped them off and moved the Citadel to Earth. Things to look at from the party... Everyone say "Normandy"! He'll probably be quite happy to oblige: This is one of my favourite lines, for some reason: When she smiles...This exchange is fun even without Wrex: ...and from the mission: Infiltrating Cerberus HQ: Wheeee! One way or another: Clearing the air with Joker: Her drunken wish came true, apparently: Some combat scenes. I didn't include the Kai Leng fight because it was an incompetent mess. Watch as I repeatedly fail to scale low cover in the opening scene, then waste several rounds on a turret protected by a shield generator:

Playing with my Sentinel broshep in ME3. I got up to the final mission but haven't finished it.
Before that, I did the Citadel DLC with Miranda romance. I still can't decide it I prefer her romance to Ashley or Jack. The problem with Miranda is her content before the Citadel DLC is lacking. But with the DLC its good. Call me dumb, but I never realized I could have Miranda as a squadmate in Armax Arsenal Arena. It makes me wish she was a squadmate. She has all the great powers rolled into one. Same thing with Zaeed. Both are friggin' amazing and makes me wish they were squadmates in ME3.
Even on Insanity, its pretty ridiculous how easy the story mode is with certain classes like the Sentinel. I'm literally just breezing through everything. I guess Gold MP will do that to you.

So I beat the run, but I am a bit confused. At the end, I had Garrus holding my name plaque. What was odd is that I thought I talked to Traynor just as much, if not more than Garrus. Strange. But as long as it's not Liara I am fine with it.

"Hi Alec, I just helped Samara kill someone. It's quite messed up. Samara asked for my help to catch the criminal I told you about. She had tracked her to Omega and we went there right away, because it was necessary to stop this person before she disappeared from there. The criminal she was after was an Ardat-Yakshi called Morinth. Ardat-Yakshis are asari suffering from a rare genetic disorder. They kill their mating partners by overpowering their nervous system instead of just melding with it like normal asari do, and there's nothing they can do to prevent it. It just happens. And the more they do it, the more they need to continue. They become addicted. Samara said she was after Morinth for 400 years. It was important for her to stop her. Morinth was her daughter. She has 2 more daughters with the same condition. Having one daughter with this condition is tough, but all of them... shit. I could see why Morinth had to be stopped, so we spoke to Aria on Omega and she pointed us to the latest victim's mother. Poor woman. We found out that her daughter had been hanging out with Morinth in the VIP section of Afterlife, so Samara formed the plan that I'd be the bait while she hid and watched us. She asked me to trust her that she'd come for me once the trap was set. I was nervous like hell. A million things could've gone wrong. But as soon as I entered that club, feeling the energy and the rhythm of the music, I felt good. Confident. And Morinth soon showed. We talked for a bit in a quiet corner and she invited me to her apartment. It was close, Alec. Really close. It felt like I was under some kind of spell. The promise of sex, and I really wanted it. I needed it. That's what my body told me. I would have just let it happen. But Samara kept her promise and showed up, attacking Morinth. I had thought, or at least hoped, that she would maybe get soft when seeing her daughter. You know, not kill her but arrest her or something, but... she went through with it. She killed her. It was hard to watch, even though I understand why Samara had to do it. But her own flesh and blood. It's just not fair. I can't imagine what she's going through right now. Why is it that decent people always lose something? I'm so fed up with this. I feel terrible for this poor girl's mother on Omega, and endlessly sad for Samara. To kill her own daughter... I dread the next talk with her. What is there to say really? Damn it, Alec, why must everything be so hard sometimes? Why can't things ever be easy? Why am I always so affected by stuff like this? It's not like it's people close to me dying all over again, it's people I barely know. And yet... it always fucking affects me. After everything that happened today, I hung out at the club. Drank again. Had sex with another guy again. I know I'm a mess, and I want it to change, but I just can't. I can't sometimes. It's the only way I know how to really cope with all the shit that's surrounding me. Just switch off my brain and let things happen. I wish staring out at space through my cabin window would be enough. Or the bloody fish I recently bought for my cabin's tank. It's funny. As a kid I used to think fish are dumb and boring, and I always wanted a dog. Now I find watching them soothing. But it's just not enough. -Dee" Pics: I like this scene a lot. Paragon-ing hard. I love this dancing, it's so funny Too bad the asari isn't impressed with Shepard's moves, because I am It's a first any of my Shepards are into music and dancing this much. Tehe. Giving in. Game over, Morinth. This is and will always be one of my favourite Loyalty Missions. Sooooo good. I think I'm gonna pick up Tali next, then do Jack's LM, and then some sidequests. Since I did LotSB early this time I'm hoping to get some more good upgrades too

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME2 cont'd:
Dr T'Soni (or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Shadow Broker) – part 2
Illium: Hotel Azure
Tela Vasir's skycar had crashed on the rooftop parking lot of the Hotel Azure. She escaped on foot, while waves of the Shadow Broker's mercenaries tried to cover her escape. The mercs didn't last long, and Shepard, Liara, and Tali went after Vasir. The Spectre had been injured in the car crash, and a blood trail led them right to her. She attempted to take a hotel guest hostage, but while Shepard distracted her, Liara used her biotic abilities to knock Vasir over with a flying table.
Another fight broke out, but Vasir and the Shadow Broker mercenaries were no match for the team that took down Saren and the geth at the Battle of the Citadel. With her last breath, Vasir condemned Shepard for working with Cerberus, claiming it was no better than her helping the Shadow Broker stay in power. She wasn't completely wrong, of course, but Shepard wasn't interested in ethics lessons from a Spectre who killed dozens of innocents in 2 failed attempts to assassinate a scientist.
With the data disk retrieved, they now had the location of the Broker's base of operations. Shepard attempted to discuss what had happened over the last two years, how Liara had changed and what it meant for them, but Liara was only interested in stopping the Shadow Broker as soon as possible, in case he decided to hurt Feron.
Hourglass Nebula: Hagalaz – Shadow Broker Ship
Shepard, Liara, and Tali needed to infiltrate the Shadow Broker's vessel to get to Feron, but it wouldn't be easy. They would have to walk along the outside of the ship – while the storms of Hagalaz's climate raged around them – looking for a way in. In many ways it reminded Shepard of climbing up the side of the Citadel tower while battling Saren's geth (“just like old times”).
They found a hatch, and were able to hold off the Broker's forces long enough for Liara's hacking program to crack the lock. Inside, they eliminated more mercs, and finally came upon Feron. He was strapped to a chair hooked up to equipment that would shock and kill him if he tried to escape. They would need to cut the power to free him, and the only way to do that was to defeat the Broker to gain access to the control room.
They found the control room, and came face to face with the elusive Shadow Broker. He was a member of a species Shepard didn't recognize, but Liara quickly deduced that he was a Yahg, a savage pre-spaceflight species, and that he likely was taken from his homeworld by the original Shadow Broker as a trophy, “or a pet”. Shepard loved how Liara got under the Broker's skin using her knowledge of history and science.
The Broker attacked, and Tali got knocked down. Shepard hoped she'd be OK, but there was no chance to check on her – the Broker was a tough opponent. As the fight dragged on, Liara came up with a way to overload his energy shield and kill him.
Shepard got Tali back on her feet, while Liara approached the Shadow Broker's terminals. Communications from dozens of agents were coming in, asking what was going on. Liara briefly seemed overwhelmed by it all, but then decided to answer, impersonating the Broker using the synthesizer he'd used to disguise his voice. She assumed the Broker's identity, to use his intel, contacts and resources to help Shepard fight the Reapers. Shepard thought it was a great idea, as long as it's what Liara wanted. She thought it would be ideal for her.
Feron was now free, and Tali went with him to check the power systems, so Shepard and Liara finally had a moment to talk. Liara needed time to review what the Broker's network had to offer them, but she was eager to use it to help with Shepard's mission. “All I wanted was to rescue Feron. But...is it wrong that part of me wants this? With the Shadow Broker's network, I can help you. Maybe I can turn this operation into something better.” That sounded like a great idea to Shepard.
They also agreed to continue their relationship. To that end, Shepard invited Liara to the Normandy SR2, to get a tour of the new ship and then talk some more in Shepard's quarters. They discussed Shepard's mission, and Shepard appreciated the encouragement and confidence boost Liara gave her. They also “re-enacted scenes from Vaenia”, as Joker put it.
It would take time for Liara to get up to speed as the new Shadow Broker, but she would be a valuable ally, providing a base of operations, an information network and other resources to use against the Reapers. Shepard felt that her need to continue working with Cerberus was fast coming to an end, as they were building a new network of allies – Liara as the Shadow Broker, Wrex, Mordin with the STG, and possibly the Quarian Admiralty Board as well. It felt good.

So after about two weeks of not playing any video games, I finally got the chance to sit down and resume Ahmed Shepard's story (and play some ME:A mutliplayer).
Last night as Ahmed Shepard: 1. On Tuchanka: a. Went with Mordin and spoke with the chief scout. He pointed Ahmed to Clan Weyrloc, who had been spotted with a Salarian. Mordin and Ahmed took a truck as close as they could to the Weyrloc base.
b. At the base, they were met with resistance from the local wildlife as well as the Blood Pack mercs. Still, it did not take much trouble to make it inside a Krogan hospital where they encountered a dead human. Mordin examined the body and determined it had been used it tests, likely by Maelon or someone working with him.
c. They encountered heavier resistance inside from more Krogan, incuding a speaker from Clan Weyrloc. He boasted that when they cured the genophage, their numbers would blot out the sun and they would wreak havoc on the galaxy. Ahmed thought he talked too much and set him on fire.
d. They found more data on a terminal as well as a dead Krogan female. Mordin was upset but was still resolute that he had done the right thing by modifying the genophage. Ahmed was inclined to agree. They found a missing Urdnot scout, and Ahmed yelled at the scout until he made his way back to the Urdnot camp (Ahmed is good at yelling).
e. More Krogan, Vorcha, and Varren attacked, and Ahmed killed them all, including Chief Weyrloc Gould. Then they found Maelon in a lab. It was quickly apparent that he was not kidnapped, but rather he volunteered to cur the genophage. Mordin was angry at Maelon for going against all available data that showed an increased Krogan population would lead to war. Maelon remained unconvinced. When Ahmed declared that they were going to shut down, Maelon pulled out a gun, but Mordin knocked it out of his hand, then killed Maelon.
f. Mordin was not sure what to do with the data, whether to destroy it or keep it. Ahmed suggested they keep the data, just in case. Ahmed was not about to let a good bargaining chip get destroyed. Plus, if Maelon was on the right track to cure the genophage, then someone else could be, and the data could prove useful to find a way to block or counteract a possible cure.
2. Shepard took Zaeed to go deal with Vido Santiago: a. Ahmed and Zaeed landed well back from the refinery where Vido was holed up, but tapping into the Blue Suns communications proved that they had still been spotted. After a brief encounter with the Blue Suns mercs, Zaeed let Ahmed know about his history with Vido. Vido and Zaeed founded the Blue Suns, but Vido betrayed him and left him for dead. Zaeed had been seeking revenge ever since.
b. At the refinery, they met Vido. Vido taunted Zaeed, and then Zaeed set the place on fire. The original plan of rescuing the refinery workers was now out the window. Ahmed did not want to let the workers die, but Vido was an evil man. Ahmed had already several of Vido's plans earlier (stopped his operation at a Prothean dig site, recovered the cargo from the Strontium mule, and shut down the false signal they were using to ambush ships), and now it was time to stop Vido.
c. The Blue Suns put up a big fight, but eventually Ahmed and Zaeed caught up with Vido. He was limping, so they must have injured him while he was escaping. He begged for his life, but Zaeed was in no mood to listen. Vido fell in puddle of fuel and Zaeed lit it on fire and walked away as Vido died painfully.
3. Ahmed took Kasumi to go get the greybox of Donovan Hock: a. Kasumi had Ahmed wear a suit and explained they were crashing a party held by Donovan Hock. She told him the plan was to break into Hock's vault and steal the greybox. Ahmed was a soldier not a thief, but figured he was just there to distract Donovan long enough for Kasumi to do her thing. Kasumi was smuggling his weapons and armor inside of a statue though, so Ahmed figured she was expecting a lot of possible resistance.
b. The original plan was immediately derailed when Hock met them at the door and he refused to let Kasumi inside. Ahmed was also a little miffed that Hock refused to shake his hand, but maybe Hock was germaphobe so maybe he had an excuse? Kasumi went in anyway, but stayed cloaked the entire time so she would not get noticed.
c. Together, Kasumi and Ahmed cased out the vault. To get in, they would need a voice sample from Hock and the verbal password, plus a DNA sample, as well as cut the power to the barrier protecting the vault door. It took some time, but they eventually got everything they needed and went into the vault.
d. The vault was devoid of guards, but it had plenty of valuable treasures, including the greybox and some Locust SMGs. (One of them of had killed two presidents; Shepard took that one.)
e. Donovan Hock then appeared by hologram and did not seem all that surprised. Seems he suspected that it had been Kasumi at the door. He gave Kasumi an option to surrender peacefully, but she refused, so he had his guards come in to try and take them out. Ahmed was glad for his weapons and armor and gave them a fight, then took it to all the mercs as he and Kasumi fought their way out of the vault and through the basement.
f. Once they made it outside, Hock attacked them in a gunship and more mercs joined in the fight. Eventually, Kasumi disabled the gunship's shields permanently and then Ahmed blew it up with enough bullets.
g. Kasumi accessed the greybox and viewed her boyfriend's last message. He wanted her to destroy the greybox because the data that was on it could implicate the Alliance in something. Ahmed told Kasumi she could keep the greybox if she was willing to live with the consequences.
I actually played more, but I am going to have to break this off here and post the rest later.

More Ahmed Shepard: 1. Ahmed went to go find out why Project Overlord stopped reporting in to the Illusive Man. He landed at Hermes Station and it looked like it had seen some fighting. A man named Dr. Gavin Archer contacted him as soon and told him an expirement with a VI had gone awry and had taken over the station. Dr. Archer told Ahmed that they needed to stop the VI from getting offworld.
2. First step: retract the satellite dish. Problem: the VI got a hold of the dish and aimed it to send a signal off-world. New plan: destroy the dish. New problem: a lot of hostile Geth units stood between Ahmed and the dish. The good news: Ahmed has a lot of experience fighting Geth, and he had Tali and Zaeed backing him up. The Geth never stood a chance.
3. After destroying the dish, Dr. Archer met Ahmed in person and explained the whole situation: Dr. Archer was tasked by the Illusive Man to find a way to beat the Geth. His idea: the Geth believed Sovereign to be a type of god, meaning they could be swayed. His solution: to try and give the Geth some type of figurehead so they would not attack humans.
Dr. Archer explained that his brother David was autistic, and that he volunteered to be hook up his mind to a VI and interface with the Geth. Then things went bad and the David VI infected the entired station. Shepard's job: shut down the VI. To do that, he needed to override Vulcan Station and Prometheus Station to gain access to Atlas Station. In Atlas Station he could shut down the VI.
4. Vulcan Station was the geothermal plant that powered the project. It was overrun by security mechs and drones. Traversal was difficult, even in the Hammerhead, and the station itself was a difficult fight, but eventually Ahmed hit the override.
5. Prometheus Station was a crashed Geth ship (which explained the Geth they saw earlier). The Geth seemed dormant, but after hitting the override, they activated and it was a brutal fight to make it out alive.
6. Atlas Station: Some Geth guarded the station, but Ahmed took them out quickly enough. Then he hit a button to try to shut down the VI, but it somehow infected his implants. Then he experienced David's memories and it became clear that he did not volunteer, but was forced into the experiment by his brother Gavin! And when he did manage to shut down the VI, he saw David hooked up into the machine.
7. Dr. Archer tried to reason with Ahmed, but Ahmed refused to listen. Ahmed was furious. He told Dr. Archer that he was taking David to Grissom Academy. When Dr. Archer tried to stop him, Ahmed pistol-whipped him and threatened him with death should he ever try to contact his brother again.
I actually played up to Atlas station last night, then finished Overlord earlier today. I currently undecided whether I should play Arrival now or wait until after the Suicide Mission. I would like the extra upgrades from Arrival, but I can do without them, and the story flows a bit better if I play Arrival last.

Welcome back, Red! Good to see you post in here again Recruited Tali last night: "Hey Alec! We finally picked up Tali. It's so nice to have another person I know already on board now. We traveled to the Dholen system in geth space and Garrus, Kasumi and I landed on Haestrom, a former quarian colony. We had to stay in the shade as much as possible since the sun damaged our shields. We quickly found out that Tali's mission had gone wrong. There were some dead quarians, killed by geth. After a while we picked up a radio transmission of one of Tali's men, Kal'Reegar. He told us that geth had found them and that they were pinned down and couldn't get back to their ship. He also said that Tali and her team were actually there to collect data about the problem with the sun (Tali later told me it's deteriorating faster than it should). Tali was safely locked away somewhere, but I wanted to get to her right away before anything could happen to her. Geth resistance was heavy, but we knew our enemy. Garrus and I had fought a lot of them back when we were after Saren. It's still a good feeling to hack these little shits. We made it to the quarians' base camp, where I could speak with Tali over the comms. She was in the observatory, but a lot of geth were outside. We hurried to find her and met Kal'Reegar along the way. A geth colossus sat right in front of the door that led to Tali, and we had to plan our attack accordingly. Good that Reegar knew everything about the battlefield layout, that made things a lot easier on my end. Reegar's suit was ruptured, so I urged him to stay out of sight and let my team take over. He had risked enough already. We took down all the geth in the area, and even the colossus went down eventually. We got to Tali and she was still okay. With her own mission over she was ready to join me on the Normandy. I'm really glad to have her back, and we caught up a little. I'm happy she trusts me enough to work with Cerberus, even if she loathes them. I knew from back on Freedom's Progress that the quarians had issues with Cerberus, and now Tali told me why. Not only does Tali of course know first-hand what Cerberus is capable of when we shut down their sick little experiments back then, but Cerberus had attacked one of their ships only to get to a young human biotic that was on board. They were always extreme, always will be. Bloody bastards. When I'm done with this mission, I'll try everything to take them down somehow. I also just had a chat with Samara. She's doing better already and I like talking to her. She told me a lot about justicars. I'm still not sure how anyone would want to act according to this black and white code, but hearing about it is really interesting. There's so much to discover in this galaxy, the aliens, the cultures. It never gets boring. I really wish you could see it yourself, but my usual babbling has to suffice. Talk to you soon. -Dee" Some pics: Ruuuun, Shepard! I like this option I was curious what the Cain would do on the Colossus from the starting point. Wasn't worth it, so I reloaded Always a reason to celebrate. Reegar is great! Good to have you back, old friend. I love this camera angle. Also a quick vid I threw together. Nothing special, but it has headshots, Hacking and Shadow Strike action Died once during the Colossus fight. I went up the right side and tried to advance after the first geth wave there, but then I got hit by the Colossus in the process and died from the approaching geths' weapon fire. Oh well Other than that it went really fine. I could toy around with Hacking again, which is always fun. I decided to put only 1 point into it for now, and I'm finally working on Disruptor Squad Ammo. I will completely ignore Cryo Ammo this time, and soooooon my build is complete. Yay!

"Hey Alec, I'm just back from Pragia. I finally helped Jack blow up that Cerberus facility she grew up in. Goddamn, these fucking assholes. You should've seen the place. It was absolutely disgusting. They pitted kids against each other, drugged them, shocked them if they refused to fight and experimented on various kids to see if it's safe to do the same to Jack. Kids died in this fucking place... I hardly have any words for this. Mindblowing how people can actually do this to innocent kids. Fuck all of Cerberus. It was a tough place to be at and I wanted to get this over with, but unfortunately, we weren't alone in this facility. We had to fight some Blood Pack mercs and soon found a guy called Aresh in Jack's old cell. He brought the mercs and was one of the kids that escaped back then, and he had returned a year ago to restart the facility. Jack wanted to kill him, but I couldn't let her do that. He's as much a victim of this crime as Jack is, and trapped in the past. Jack let him go and I'm proud of her. It's a good sign. I hope Aresh can find some comfort too... wherever he is now. Man, Cerberus really is absolutely appalling. The worst fucking scum. I had a plan to make Miranda more aware of this. I brought her along to see how she'd react. You know, maybe see what else Cerberus is doing, get her a little more on my side. I think she was a bit shaken when she saw the kids' holding cells, but she also said this was clearly a rogue facility. It's true that we found a log that mentioned that the Illusive Man didn't know anything about what was going on in this facility, but how could that be? This man has ears and eyes everywhere. I'm not convinced he doesn't know. Maybe he did and just didn't care. In the end, it probably was a mistake to bring Miranda. After the mission Jack went to Miranda's cabin and started a fight. Had to break it off before they tore each other's throat out. I can understand Jack, and Miranda said some pretty hurtful things to her too, but... I just hope we can all get along until this mission is over. It's important we do this. We need to rely on each other, have each other's back if we want to get through this somehow. And even then it's hard enough. I went to check in with Jack to see if she's alright. I'm sure she's still pissed off about Miranda and everything, but she was really grateful we did this. I hope she can find some peace now. In other news, Tali has been accused of treason by the Migrant Fleet. She doesn't even know why, so we have to go there and find out. And soon too, or else she'll be exiled. The problems never cease, eh? -Dee" Pics! I really like the flow of Miri's and Jack's fight when it's happening directly after Jack's LM. This LM is also one of my favourites, even though I always feel terrible for Jack and the other kids about what happened there. Pretty strong, but good stuff.

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME2 cont'd:
Normandy
Shepard received an email from Oriana Lawson, thanking Shepard for helping Miranda, and bragging about how clever she was for figuring out who Shepard was. She was Miranda's sister, alright.
Shepard had another chat with Thane, who talked more about the death of his wife, and his motivation for taking the Dantius job. He admitted that he was prepared to die, until Shepard gave him something to live for – a mission, and a chance to see his son again. Shepard was quite touched by the conversation, and was glad that Thane had joined their cause.
Miranda apologized to Shepard for the doubts she'd had at the beginning of their mission. Shepard appreciated the gesture, but felt it wasn't really necessary as she'd had some of the same doubts about Miranda. She still didn't agree with Miranda's views on Cerberus, but felt less hostility towards Miranda herself.
Shepard went back to the Shadow Broker ship, to check in with Liara and see how Feron was holding up. The Normandy then left the Hourglass Nebula and scanned for some resources in The Shrike Abyssal on their way to the Blood Pack base on Zada Ban.
The Shrike Abyssal: Zada Ban - Blood Pack Base
The data obtained from the Blood Pack communications relay on Tarith indicated the mercenary group had built some sort of weapons manufacturing facility on Zada Ban. It was obvious that the Blood Pack were up to no good, so Shepard took Tali and Samara down to the surface of Zada Ban to take out the facility.
The Blood Pack forces, led by a commander named Kalusk (mentioned in the data pads found on Tarith), put up heavy resistance, but were ultimately defeated. Shepard set off explosives inside the facility and escaped, putting an end to whatever attack or invasion the mercs were planning to carry out with those weapons.
Omega
The Normandy stopped in on Omega, so Shepard, Jacob and Tali could deliver the data packets to Ish. Shepard knew what Ish was up to, and tried to dissuade him from taking on Aria, for his own sake. Shepard wasn't Aria's biggest fan – she'd even undermined the asari slightly by helping the Patriarch – but she'd come to realize (grudgingly) that having Aria in charge on Omega was probably better than someone else, and that it could be a lot worse.
Ish agreed to back off, no doubt extending his life expectancy considerably in the process. Jacob felt it was “better than he deserved”, and was probably right.
Shepard visited Marsh's shop in the Markets and picked up some armour components, then returned to the Normandy.

Ahmed Shepard: 1. Travelled to the derelict Reaper "corpse" to recover the Reaper IFF. The Normandy sensors picked up a Geth ship outside the Reaper, indicating that the Geth were the reason the Cerberus science team had stopped reporting in to The Illusive Man. 2. Once inside the Reaper however, it was apparent that the Geth were not responsible for the team disappearing. Soon the Reaper put up kinetic barriers, trapping Ahmed and his team inside. They had to find the Reaper IFF first, then destroy the drive core to take down the barrier, then escape before the Reaper fell into the Brown Dwarf. 3. More logs indicated that the science crew had been indoctrinated. The myriad of husks also indicated that the science team had been transformed. A few of the husks were shot dead by an unknown sniper. In the next area, the sniper was revealed to be a Geth unit who spoke to "Shepard-Commander" before walking away. 4. Ahmed killed a lot of husks and scions, then finally found the Reaper IFF. At the Reaper drive core, the Geth was working on a terminal, but got knocked out (somehow) by a husk. Ahmed destroyed the drive core, grabbed the Geth unit, then boarded the Normandy before the Reaper was crushed by gravitational forces. 5. On board the Normandy, Miranda suggested they give the Geth unit to Cerberus for study. Ahmed decided to keep it instead because he did not want Cerberus to get it. But he was not about to activate it either, so he left it in the AI Core until he decided if he actually wanted to activate it. Maybe he would just give it to the Alliance when he was doen working with Cerberus. 6. Needing time to install and test the Reaper IFF, Ahmed took his squad to Omega for some rest and relaxation while the rest of the crew worked to get the IFF installed. Ahmed Shepard glanced up at the elevated area where Aria stood watching over the patrons at Afterlife. The self-styled Queen of Omega looked down at him and held his gaze for a moment, before smirking and turned her attention elsewhere. Ahmed grunted and looked back down at his crew a few tables down. He picked up his glass and drank.
Ahmed wanted to relax, but knew it was impossible. Being so close to going through the Omega-4 Relay had him on edge, and he was itching for another shot at the Collectors, this time on his terms. He was also aware that his squad -- while skilled in battle -- was attracting attention from some of the patrons in the club. Alcohol and ill tempers were a bad mix, and he did not want any trouble before...
Ahmed swore. He swallowed the rest of his drink, then rose and strode to a table in the corner where a young man was becoming enamored with an Asari all too willing to lead him on.
"Back off, kid," he growled, grabbing the man by his shoulder and shoving him aside. "You don't want any part of her."
"Hey man!" the guy said angrily. "What's the big deal? We were just talking!"
"And if you still want to talk, walk away now while you still have your jaw."
"Fuck you, man!" the guy swore at Ahmed, but he wisely walked away. He was not about to fight a man that was bigger and had more muscle than he did.
"Well that wasn't very nice," the Asari said.
"I don't want to hear it, Morinth." Ahmed's head began to throb. He always felt sick around Morinth. "I took a chance on you. Do not screw this up."
Morinth made a silly pouty face, but when Ahmed refused to change his expression, she sighed in defeat.
"Fine. I'll be good."
"Good to hear." Ahmed stepped away. Another Asari blocked his path.
"You know," she said, "If she isn't your type..."
Ahmed brushed her aside.
"You're not my type either."
Zaeed was getting louder. Ahmed hoped he wouldn't start a fight. Or Jack.
Jacob and Miranda were talking together at another table. Ahmed was glad Jack and Miranda were far apart and had their backs turned to each other. As long as they kept themselves apart, they would not start a fight that could end in someone's death.
Thane, Mordin, Jack, and Garrus were all currently listening to Zaeed as he drank and told a tale of another mission. Ahmed wondered how many people made it out alive.
And Kasumi...
Ahmed looked around. No Kasumi.
"Shit." She had better be careful, he thought. If she crosses Aria... He did not want to think about it.
Trouble. Some Batarians stood between him and his table. He slowed his pace sizing them up. They were looking right at him, so it was clear they wanted him in particular. They were about his own height, and seemed fairly muscular. Ahmed also noticed some Turians hanging back behind them at the entrance.
A Blue Suns merc band, he deduced. Great. He kept walking.
Ahmed went to walk around them, but one of the Batarians stepped into him.
"Excuse me," Ahmed said. He tried walking around them again, but this time the Batarian put a hand on his chest.
"What's your problem, human?"
Ahmed ignored the veiled threat and replied as calmly and meekly as he dared. But he was starting to get angry.
"No problem. I just want to get back to drinking."
"And what if I have a problem with you?"
Ahmed paused, trying to choose his words carefully.
"Look, I think we've all had a long day. Let's not cause any trouble."
"And what if I want trouble?" the Batarian asked. The other Batarians shifted towards Ahmed, blocking him like a wall. He could smell the alcohol on their breaths. The situation was beginning to spiral out of control.
Ahmed looked up at Aria's observation point, and noticed she had a bemused expression on her face as she watched him. Oh that's just great, he thought. Aria wants to see what happens. He then noticed her security detail were no longer standing at their posts.
"Tell you what," Ahmed said. "I'll buy you a round and we'll call it even."
"I know who you are Shepard. You don't get to kill my friends and offer to make it even by buying me beer. There's only one way to make it even."
Ahmed backed up a step as the Turians joined in behind the Batarians. Ahmed sighed.
"Well, I tried."
Ahmed swung.
The air cracked and exploded in blue as the biotic force violently threw the Blue Suns mercs into the wall. Several patrons gasped and others cheered at the display. Some other Turians had taken a step forward but now hesitated, unsure if they should attack or flee.
"Oh hell yeah!" Jack shouted.
"About bloody time!" Zaeed chimed in.
Well so much for avoiding trouble, Ahmed thought.
* * * (This story did not turn out quite the way I wanted it to, but I am tired and it is getting late.)
7. While the squad was away, the Collectors decided to come and play. The Reaper IFF had a virus and it disabled the Normandy while the Collectors boarded and began abducting the crew. Joker managed to avoid the Collectors and get to the AI Core to unshackle EDI. Then he went to the engine room and gave control to EDI who got the Normandy away from the Collectors and back to Omega, but only Joker had survived the abduction. 8. Angry -- and with no crew to upgrade the ship -- Ahmed went to go through the Omega-4 relay to retrieve his crew and stop the Collectors. I should be able to post the rest tomorrow.
