Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME3 cont'd:
Normandy
EDI wanted to have another philosophical conversation with Shepard; at the end, EDI decided to modify her self preservation code put the needs of others above herself.
Shepard found Tali in ship's lounge, ingesting turian brandy into her suit through an emergency induction straw. Evidently Miranda standing up to her overbearing father had cut a little close to home for Tali.
Javik asked Shepard if her friendships with the crew and her relationship with Liara were what she was fighting for. His “Echo Shard” was all he had left of the comrades he knew, containing the memories of the Prothean soldiers that had owned it before him. He asked Shepard if she was in his place, would she use it to remember those that were long dead. Shepard thought about her answer for a long. Initially, she thought it would be better to remember, that at least it would be better than nothing. But she realized that it would just cause needless pain without doing much good, that reliving the deaths, the loss, was pointless. Nothing that could be done to change the past, or bring those Protheans back.
Citadel: Silversun Strip
Miranda stopped by the apartment. She seemed to have recovered from the mission on Sanctuary. She asked about the business with the clone, and confirmed that Brooks had been the one that compiled the crew dossiers for the mission against the Collectors, but that she didn't know much else about her. Shepard thought back to when she and Miranda first met – she would have never expected that the two would ever become friends, but she was glad that they had. Shepard also played some more matches in the combat simulator.
Citadel: Task Force Aurora
Shepard went to see Dr Garret Bryson, head of Task Force Aurora, a project dedicated to learning about the Reapers history, with a goal of finding any weaknesses they might have. As Dr Bryson was filling Shepard in on their progress, and an apparent breakthrough they'd had, he was attacked by his assistant Derek Hadley. Shepard subdued Hadley, but she was too late to prevent Dr Bryson from being shot and killed
EDI arrived, having monitored the C-Sec transmission about the attack. Hadley claimed not to remember what had happened, and insisted that he hadn't been the one who attacked Bryson. EDI suggested Indoctrination may be the culprit. It was certain that something wasn't right, as Hadley collapsed after muttering something about “the darkness cannot be breached”. Something was definitely affecting his mind.
EDI and Shepard looked for clues in the research lab. The task force had been investigating the Leviathan of Dis, a Reaper corpse discovered by the batarians decades before. They were trying to find out what could be powerful enough to kill a Reaper. EDI and Shepard found information that one of
Bryson's assistants, a man named Garneau, was their best lead, having found some sort of artifact linked to this “Leviathan” reaper killer. Information in the lab indicated he was in the Caleston Rift, so they returned to the Normandy and prepared to head out.

So a bit of back and forth with Commander William Shepard yesterday. Having freed Liara I decided to explore some of the other planets and to try and find locations I had missed or had to skip because my decryption level was too low. Anyway got that done but by then time was running out on me so wasted more time doing inventory management and buying some new stuff for the team and that was it.
Today will head to Feros.

dazk: Sub-titles are totally fine. BTW, the first time I saw Sovereign in the Eden Prime video aboard the Normandy, I thought it looked like a grasping hand. Seemed very fearsome. Didn't get the aquatic vibe at all. I don't know, how many people here know Babylon 5 (if you don't know it go wach it, best scifi Show eher), but the first thing I thought when I saw Sovereign at Eden was Vorlon ship, Since there seem to be some parallels to B5 in ME, I don't think, that this is an accident. It starts with the space station, where the different races can work out their problems and ends with old, powerful and thought to be gone for good races that return to bring chaos to the universe.

So, yes, I'm aware of the Vorlons, and I know they practically set themselves up as deities, but not much else. Not sure I'd equate Sovereign with a being that looks like, to humans, an angel.

Yes, Barbara "Barbie" Shepard is an airhead, while also somehow being completely competent at what she does. Somewhat relevant: from Wikipedia list of Barbie (the doll's) careers here. Barbie does not get the intellectual credit she deserves.

I'm talking about the Vorlon ships, which btw are sentient beings. No one knows, how a Vorlon looks, since they look different to every species (I think thats similar to how asari work?). I know that dvds are outdated with a lot of people, I just think, B5 is worth it, but that's only a recommendation, I won't force anyone to watch anything ;-). It was just an observation from some scifi Fan, who came late to ME. I think B5 would fit with Netflix, they have already a lot of scifi.

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME3 cont'd:
Caleston Rift: Mahavid - “Are you familiar with the applications of tungsten?”
The Normandy travelled to Mahavid, a small asteroid in the Caleston Rift. It was home to T-GES Mineral Works, the last known location of Dr Garneau, who would hopefully be able to provide more information about “Leviathan”.
Tali and Liara accompanied Commander Shepard to the T-GES offices. At the entrance they found reaper ground forces trying to break in, which confirmed that their enemy was just as interested in finding Leviathan as they were.
Inside the offices, things got really weird. Not only were the workers unconcerned by the attacking reaper forces, they were behaving very strangely, like zombies or automatons.
They signed up for the tour as an excuse to look around, finding more strange people telling them to “turn back”, and “you don't belong here”. They found data pads with records of experiments that had nothing to do with mineral extraction, as well as personal correspondence dating back almost a decade, left lying around for no apparent reason.
They eventually found Dr Garneau in the medical bay, the victim of an attack. He claimed that there was no intel to be found here on Leviathan, that it was “a myth, a dead end”. Shepard questioned him further, and it soon became clear that something wasn't right with “Garneau”. His voice changed, became almost reaper-like, and he told Shepard that “the darkness must not be breached.” Similar to what Hadley had said when he attacked Dr Bryson in the Project Aurora offices.
“Garneau” ran, and Shepard and her team chased him through the facility. Reaper ground troops also intervened, because of course they did, but they were dealt with. “Garneau” was found with a spherical artifact - similar to one they'd seen in Bryson's office – and surrounded by husks. As Shepard approached to try and take out the husks, “Garneau” activated an explosive, killing himself and destroying the artifact.
They found the body of the real Dr Garneau, who'd evidently been dead for a number of days. There were mine workers there as well, who seemed confused following the destruction of the artifact. Shepard questioned them, and discovered that they believed it was the year 2176. Whatever the artifact was, it had made them puppets of Leviathan and caused them to forget the last 10 years of their lives. Hadley had also claimed memory loss following his attack on Dr Bryson.
They only lead they had left was the spherical artifact in Bryson's office. They returned to the Normandy so they could head back to the Citadel.

So again not too much yesterday, decent Windows of time are hard to come bye atm. So William set of to Feros today, exploring some systems and there planets, discovering Matriach writings, mineral and gas deposits and some Turian Insignia. Then to Feros and what a strange situation that turned out to be, not sure yet quite what is going on with the colony but sorted out their power, water and food problems for them and next on to solving what it is the Geth are doing here. Pic's Tali and Liara in combat William has some fun in the Mako This thing Some scenery

That's why I just called it "This thing" I was a bit lost for how to describe it in the context of what happens with it but I like the giant prothean marble. It just seems so impressive yet it doesn't really do anything except show you a memory, a very grandiose "memory shard" indeed

This past weekend, Barbara "Barbie" Shepard went to Feros...
Liara: Can you please take someone else on a mission for once? Just once?
Barbie: Ha ha! Nonsense!
Colonist: Thank goodness you're here. Please help us before the Geth attack again. (immediately gets killed by Geth)
Barbie: Oh no! He's dead! The flashlights killed him!
Kaiden: I wish I was dead.
Barbie: Die, you toasters!
Fai Dan: Geth are in the tower!
Barbie: Like Rapunzel?
Fai Dan: What?
Barbie: To the tower!
Geth: It's that crazy human the other Geth have warned us about! Retreat!
Liara: Okay, they're gone. We should head back to the colony and ---
Barbie: LOOK! A TUNNEL!
Kaiden: Or we could explore the tunnel. Sure why not.
Liara: Does she ever get tired?
* * *
Man in Tunnels: You don't want to go back there.
Barbie: Why not? What's back there?
Man: Maybe I will, how about that? AAAAAAAAAAH!
Barbie: I can scream too! AAAAAAAAH!
Man: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Barbie: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Liara: Is she trying to out-crazy a crazy person?
Kaiden: Trying?
* * *
Barbie: Let's take the Mako!
Liara: Uh, how did the Mako get down here?
Barbie: Duh! Mass effect, of course!
Kaiden: That doesn't make any sense.
Barbie: Sure it does, silly! Get in the tank!
* * *
(shot fired)
Lizbeth: I'm so sorry!
Barbie: That tickled! Do it again!
Kaiden: Are you serious?
* * *
Krogan: Stupid machine! Tell me what I want to know or I'll turn your virtual ass into actual dust!
Barbie: Computer troubles?
Krogan: Yes.
Barbie: Have you tried turning it off and on again?
* * *
Kaiden: Okay, we really need to find a way to dislodge that ship.
Barbie: (spying console) Ooh! Buttons! (starts pushing buttons) Bleep beep bloop!
Geth ship falls off the building
Barbie: Yay! We did it!
Tali: (waking up on the Normandy) Kill the machines!
* * *
Barbie: No shooting the colonists. That's what the gas grenades are for. Or our fists and elbows!
Kaiden: Wait! will knocking them out even work?
Barbie: One way to find out! Geronimo!!!
* * *
(Based on actual gameplay experience)
Barbie: Tag, you're it! (knocks colonist to the ground, colonist gets back up)
Barbie: Stay down! (knocks colonist down again, colonist gets back up)
Barbie: It's like one of those blow-up clowns! (starts singing) Punch! Kick! It's all in the mind!
Liara: Can we hurry this up so we can take down the Thorian?
Barbie: You're no fun! Okay fine. (shoves grenade down colonist's pants)
* * *
Kaiden: That's the Thorian?
Barbie: Oh that looks awesome! Think we can take it back to the Normandy?
Liara: What? Why?
Barbie: I need a plant in my cabin. Do we have a pot big enough for it?
Asari clone: No more deals! You all die now!
Barbie: Yay! More shooty!
Thorian creepers: Blergh!
* * *
Barbie: How do I get the cipher?
Shiala: I will give it to you by melding my mind to yours. Embrace eternity! (gives Barbie the cipher)
Barbie: That was so cool! Let me try that! Embrace eternity! (melds her mind with Shiala)
Shiala: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Barbie: How did I do?
Shiala: (shaking uncontrollably) The nightmare... the images... Make it stop.... Please make it stop.... Oh goddess, why won't it stop?

So wrote todays post and had a page problem and lost it all In short ran around doing smaller assignments and doing whatever else I came across. Let Garrus shoot Dr. Saleon, let Cpl. Toomb's shoot the Cerberus Dr. then shoot himself, accidentally stumbled across Wrex's armour and found lots of mineral, gas deposits, matriarch writings and a Prothean Data disc. The scenery in the game has really impressed me, Bioware did a good job on this with the technology available at the time. So a couple of scenery pic's:

So wrote todays post and had a page problem and lost it all In my experience, hitting the back button tends to restore whatever you had typed in the reply box. At least on this forum. (There's another BSN forum for a specific subset of players that, though the same people own the boards, hitting back there doesn't restore your content.)

So wrote todays post and had a page problem and lost it all In my experience, hitting the back button tends to restore whatever you had typed in the reply box. At least on this forum. (There's another BSN forum for a specific subset of players that, though the same people own the boards, hitting back there doesn't restore your content.) Yeah I discovered that trick before but it doesn't always work. This time when I hit back it said "Do you want to leave this page" and I could only choose leave and that made the content disappear I assume.

From this past weekend, Barbara "Barbie" Shepard...
Exogeni scientist: Rescuers? Oh thank god!
Barbie: Sorry. We would have been here sooner, but these darn mountains...
Kaiden: I told you, we have enough minerals already. We don't need anymore!
Barbie: We always need more minerals! And medalions! And data discs! And Asari writings! And loot from crashed probes!
Exogeni scientist: Sooooo... we can go?
Team Shepard: NO!
* * *
Barbie: Are we there yet?
Joker: No.
Barbie: Are we there yet?
Joker: No.

Joker: No.
Barbie: Are we there yet?
Joker: No-- wait! Yes!
Barbie: Goody!
Joker: No wait, hold on... No, sorry, we're not there yet.
Barbie: Oh goober.
* * *
Liara: So this Cerberus group sent these spikes to this colony, turning them all into husks? We need to stop them!
Barbie: We already stopped them, remember.
Kaiden: But they keep popping up! I don't think we stopped them.
Barbie: Don't be silly! We stopped them!
Kaiden: But what if we didn't?
Barbie: But what if we did?
Kaiden: But what if ---
Barbie: (covering her ears) Blah blah blah I can't hear you! La la la la la la la!
Kaiden: But ---
Barbie: Still not listening!
* * *
Liara: So the Geth turned them into husks and sent the ship back... as a warning?
Barbie: As a challenge! I accept the challenge! INTO THE VEIL WE GO!!
Kaiden: Kill me now.

From last weekend, Barbara "Barbie" Shepard...
Kate Bowman: You need to shut off those fusion torches, or we're all going to die!
Barbie: Okay!
* * *
Kate: You're going the wrong way! You need to shut off those torches!
Barbie: We can't shut them off from here?
Garrus: No! We told you that!
Barbie: Can you at least hack this door?
Tali: No, we need a key card to get in.
Barbie: What about Omni-gel? That works on every other lock.
Tali: This lock has Plot Protection, sorry.
Barbie: Okay. You guys stay here. (Gets in the Mako) Mako, away!!!
Tali: Uh, is she coming back or what?
* * *
Fusion torch 1...
Barbie: Batarians!
Batarian: Intruders! Attack!
Barbie: Kill the Batarians!
* * *
Fusion torch 2...
Barbie: Batarians!
Batarian: Intruders! Attack!
Barbie: Kill the Batarians!
* * *
Fusion torch 3...
Barbie: Batarians!
Batarian: Intruders! Attack!
Barbie: Kill the Batarians!
Charn: Wait! I just want to talk!
Barbie: I don't! Kill the Batarians! (kills everyone in a rampage of glee) Oh hey, a keycard!
* * *
Main facility...
Balak: You have a choice. Let me go to save the hostages, or let the hostages die and attack me.
Barbie: You asshole! Fine, leave. I'll save the hostages. I'm not a monster.
Kaiden: (under his breath) Yes you are.
* * *
Liara: Did we do the right thing by letting Balak go?
Barbie: Of course we did! Tali and Garrus are still outside. They got him!
Garrus: We didn't get him.
Barbie: What!? Why not?
Garrus: I shot and missed.
Barbie: How could you miss?
Garrus: This sniper rifle doesn't shoot straight.
Barbie: That's a Spectre rifle. It's the straightest-shooting rifle in the galaxy!
Garrus: (hangs head in shame) I fucked up my calibrations.

Barbie: Can you at least hack this door? Tali: No, we need a key card to get in. Barbie: What about Omni-gel? That works on every other lock. Tali: This lock has Plot Protection, sorry. This. I love it! Reminds of of Kai Leng's armor in ME3, at least until you stab him in the gut after his Plot Armor is removed.
