I forgot to say that I got away with not one single flirt from Liara. I did Feros>Noveria>Virmire>Therum. One "embrace eternity" out of her, rudeness and not even a discussion about how I killed her mother. The one and only mission I had with her was Ilos through the end. This way I never had to deal with her trying to get me to ditch Kaidan for her. I almost felt bad about Noveria, but not too bad. Not to worry....she'll still think you are besties come ME2.

As a close friend, I think Liara is great. Trying to force me to romance her? Not so great.

That's the problem though. Even if you avoid her in ME1, get her last, and threaten to drop her in the volcano, she still acts like your best friend into ME2. And her being the only one to save you after the destruction of the Normandy screams Bioware bias to the max. None of your choices with Liara ever seems to matter as you are always friendly with her after ME1. Its more puzzling because outside of Garrus and a few other characters, you don't have to be friendly with others. You can be unfriendly to Kaidan, Ash, Wrex, most people in ME2, etc. The distinct lack of choice with Liara, and Liara herself is one of the few things I dislike about the trilogy.
And that's why I stopped doing Shadow Broker DLC as well. It makes you way too buddy buddy with Liara. And its creepy that she holds your armor and your status in such reverence in her apartment. It makes total sense if you romanced her. But its creepy as hell otherwise.
I officially stopped doing that DLC in a Miranda romance run. I did an ME2 run where I killed pretty much everyone on the Normandy besides Miranda and Garrus. Miranda was always on my squad and naturally being the few survivors, my character and Miranda got close. But when you meet the Shadow Broker and he throws his desk at you. You ALWAYS dive for Liara and not the woman you are romantically involved with (which causes her to get knocked out). Dunno, I'd imagine any woman in Miranda's place might be a bit upset.

Skip the dlc, you won't miss anything. Checkout this post. I don't consider her to be a friend. I look at her as an alien that knows about the protheans, or rather someone who thinks she knows about the protheans.
Here's a way to get the least amount of time with the asari.
In ME1, rescue at the last possible moment. Don't talk to her on the ship. Avoid her in ME2. That means you won't be able to recruit Samara and Thane. In ME3, choose the bottom right dialogue. It will end whatever conversation you two had very quickly. Do not visit her on the ship at all. Do not take her on any mission. Walk right by her at the fob like she's not even there. Talk with the other squadmates as much as possible throughout the game. What that does is it won't be t'soni telling Joker to leave.

Avoid her in ME2. That means you won't be able to recruit Samara and Thane. This would be my only hang-up since I like both Samara and Thane, their recruit missions, and their loyalty missions. It's annoying that they are both locked behind speaking with Liara. I believe there is a mod that removes the hug though, or makes it optional (or maybe I'm just hoping there is?)

And that's why I stopped doing Shadow Broker DLC as well. I think I'll do this in my current ME2 PT. As far as having her think she's my friend I can RP that she's delusional. In ME1, rescue at the last possible moment. Don't talk to her on the ship. Avoid her in ME2. That means you won't be able to recruit Samara and Thane. I rescued her after Virmire. I did talk to her but made sure not to be friendly. I'll talk to Liara in ME2 just enough to allow me to recruit Samara and Thane. Thane is one of my favorites in ME2 and I wouldn't want to miss out on him.

After about two weeks (three weeks?) I finally continued Brandi Shepard's trilogy playthrough. Last we left Brandi, she had just woke up in Lazarus Station, survived a mech attack, and talked to the Illusive Man.
So today: 1. Brandi went to Freedom's Progress to investigate the vanishing colony. She found mechs, drones, and Quarians (including Tali), but no colonists. A Quarian named Veetor was the lone survivor, and he showed them video footage of an alien race called the Collectors abducting the colonists. Brandi took his data and returned to a Cerberus station. Veetor left with the Quarians.
2. Brandi got a new ship and crew, which she named Normandy SR-2 because she is not very creative. Also Joker is there but she was not going to let him name the ship.
3. Brandi went to the Normandy SR-1's crash site, recovered some dog tags, and placed a memorial.
4. Brandi recovered an M-44 Hammerhead from some uncharted world, but no scientists. She has several locations where they might be.
5. Brandi went to Omega, talked with Aria, nearly got poisoned by a Batarian, forced the Batarian to drink the poison, and convinced an Elcor shopkeeper to buy out a Quarian shopkeeper. (You're welcome, Quarian).
6. Brandi entered a quarantine zone to go find and recruit Mordin. She had to fight through some Blue Suns mercs and a lot of Vorcha before she made it Mordin. Mordin refused to join her until the plague was cured, but he could not leave the clinic so Brandi delivered the cure for him. There was a lot more Vorcha between her and the delivery point, but she killed them all and delivered the cure.
Assault Sentinel is fun, but you cannot really assault this early in the game. A lot of stupid deaths because I kept trying to push it to limits it does not have yet.
Next up: 1. Scanning. Lots of scanning. I need lots of resources (mostly Platinum). 2. Recruit Archangel. I need those Tech Damage and SMG Damage upgrades. 3. Recruit Kasumi and complete her loyalty mission. I need that third Tech Damage upgrade so I can unlock and research the Tech Cooldown upgrade. I should be close to an actual Assault Sentinel playstyle by that point. At least one more recruitment mission and I should have Assault Armor and Guardian passives.

dmc1001 Lol, delusional is one way to put it. The only thing that changes if you don't do the DLC is that her drone has new dialogue in ME3 when you see him for the first time. Other than that, only one other tiny thing changes when you talk to Liara in ME3 for the first time. I'll avoid saying what it is because it might be a spoiler if you are interested in finding out in your own run. Other that that, I usually do what the mikefest mentioned so I have the least amount of screen time with Liara. But I will always consider it a colossal insult that some of Shepard's most humanizing scenes are tied with Liara (Liara visiting your cabin after the suicide mission, missing Kaidan/Ash, etc). I like the time capsule scene, but of course only Liara is smart enough to do such a thing alone.

So I decided to record my current Brandi Shepard playthrough in ME2 (Assault Sentinel).
I had recorded a part for about 25-40 minutes (too many stupid deaths), but my capture device/recording software glitched and produced a 13+ HOUR video. No way I can edit that. I am going to have to go back and re-record. Luckily I still have some manual saves I can go back to. It still sucks though, because I was going to get another "I actually suck at this game" video out of it. 'Hey watch me try to rush down four vorcha without assault armor and oh no I died!'

I re-recorded the stuff that was corrupted. Only one death this time which was surprising. I managed to do one part perfect which took me several tries yesterday, but died once in a spot that I did perfect yesterday. Go figure.

Anderson: Everyone is on their way for the meeting. How's it look on your end? Hackett: Mr. Moreau, give me an update. Moreau: We're currently 60 minutes out. Hackett. Good. Inform Shepard to see me before she meets with the leaders? Moreau: Roger that. Anderson: You're not going to give her an earful after what happen to Kenson? Hackett: Yes. We should have been able to do something. Anderson: Be careful how you say it. You may end up in a world of hurt. Hackett: I'm not afraid of her Anderson: Well then, this should be interesting when she comes to talk to you. Sam: Checkmate!!!! Sam does her happy dance Shepard: Are you done? So, how many wins does that make? Sam: Hmmm. 23,846 times I've beaten you. Shepard: Can't you let me win at least once? Sam: You know the answer to that. Stop asking. Shepard Fine, but you're be---- Moreau: Hey Shepard. Hackett wants a word with you before talking to the leaders. Shepard: Alright. I'm on my way. Are you coming? Sam: I'll be there in a moment. I need to check any updates on my omitool. Shepard: How we lookin'? Hackett: Good. I want to talk about what happen to Kenson and why we didn't help her. Shepard: We've discussed this a number of times already. You know there was nothing we could do. It's also her fault for not backing off when she knew she was overwhelmed by the enemy. Besides that, we were in darkspace. There's nothing that can be done about that. If it makes you feel better, we will shortly start destroying the enemy who were responsible. Hackett: Fine The other thing I want to talk about is you. I want you to stay focused on our mission and not let Harbinger get in your head. Remember he was the one that killed our workers in the Milky Way core. Had you not been so careless none of th---- Sam: I suggest you back off Hackett. You don't get to question what she does no matter the result. She is the first. She earned her position just as each of us have earned our position. Hackett: Of course. I...apologize. Shepard: Its ok Sam. A few times I thought about what could have been done to help Kenson. Anything else? Hackett: There is the matter of what to do about the Citadel. We can't use it to return home when the harvest is finished. Sam: I'm working on it right now. Take a look. Look at the bottom of the Citadel tower. That location is where the Nuts and Bolts, the machines from the previous cycle, were able to alter the signal to cause us to fly here instead of using the Citadel. Hackett: Then fix it. Sam: I will, but it can't happen until the reapers are destroyed. The reason for that is because the Citadel will be without power leaving it susceptible to an attack by the reapers. To avoid that, I will use this ship to keep the power on while I repair the problem. Hackett: How could that happen? It's your fault. You're the one designed the Citadel in the first place. Sam: If I were you Hackett, I'd quit while I was ahead. But to answer your question, I built the Citadel about 1.2 billion years ago. In that time everything was fine. It was only dumb luck that the previous machines were able to alter the signal. Shepard: Anderson. Take Hackett away. Let him cool off before we start the attack. I'm heading downstairs to meet the leaders. Any updates Sam? Sam: Yes. There are a number of factions of the reapers. All information points to them likely to be the toughest we will face. We may end up taking more casualties than we normally do. I would advise caution when talking with the leaders. Shepard: Understood. Sam: Oh yeah. One last thing. There is a group of reapers calling themselves Cereapus that I have under our control that will run interference. They're currently headed to a planet called Mars. Shepard: Cereapus? Really? Alright. I'll talk later. Shepard: Can I have everyone's attention. Alright. Where is Henry Lawson? There you are. Ok. Take your group to the planet known as Khar'shan. Turn the reapers into workers to fight on our side. Of course you won't be going alone. Bray and Balak, Gryll, and Din Korlack will provide backup. Go ahead and leave now. Once done, get with Hackett, He will direct you where to go from there. Ok. Primarch Fedorian, I want you to take your fleets and head to this planet called Palaven. Dalatrass Linron, take your fleet and head to Sur'Kesh. Before attacking that planet, deal with the other planets surrounding it. Benezia and Coucilor Tevos, head to the Parnitha System. Attack the planets in the area. Once done, attack the main planet Thessia. Wreav and Wrex. You two will take your fleets to a planet Tuchanka. I will take my fleets to a planet called Earth. Admiral Gerrell. Take your fleets to the planet Ranoch. There are two factions of reapers fighting between each other. Make an offer to the faction that is losing. Just a heads up people. The reapers will put up a tough fight. Even though we have the power do destroy them with ease, I want everyone to be cautious. If at anytime things get bad, you have my permission to burn the planet. If you have any questions, direct them to Hackett and Anderson.

Replaying ME1. (I have forgotten a lot of things, over the years.)
Explored a bit. Came across Ploba. (Hades Gamma, Antaeus, Ploba.) Is it possible that Ploba was a world-vault or something like that (as seen in Andromeda...)
Also came across Klencory. (Kelper Verge, Newton, Klencory.) This volus had a vision. Shepard also had visions. What species could he be referring to? The enkindlers/protheans maybe? 'Crypts' could be stasis pod chambers that are no longer functioning. 'Beings of light'... (?) I don't think they were illuminating physically, but their actions could be comparable to fire. Like a fire, they burned and spread until they were the dominant force in their time and location. Light could be literal or figurative. If not the Protheans, who else could these unknown species be.

Brandi Shepard talked to an advertisement to recruit Kasumi. Then Brandi wandered the Citadel for a while; she talked to some people, did some shopping, then returned to the Normandy.
Brandi then spent a long time scanning planets for resources. She eventually splurged on an expensive Medical Facial Reconstruction device that curiously cost a lot of platinum but it did heal her scars. Shortly after, Dr. Chakwas purchased a lot of expensive personal items, but I'm sure it is unrelated to all that platinum I had just spent.

Brandi Shepard: What are you doing Miranda?
Miranda Lawson: Finishing my report to The Illusive Man about our last mission.
Brandi: But I already sent a report.
Miranda: That was supposed to be a report?
Brandi: What was wrong with it?
Miranda: (quoting) "Went to Omega to recruit Archangel. Archangel turned out to be Garrus. He took a rocket to the face, but he's fine now."
Brandi: So what is wrong with that report?
* * *
Of course I died like an idiot several times trying to record video of that mission. Also, my capture device/software corrupted and I had to re-record part of it and of course I died a few more times like an idiot.

I also tried to complete Kasumi's loyalty mission with Brandi Shepard. It went extremely poorly. Since I am recording video of this playthrough, I am trying to be more aggressive than I typically would be if I was not recording. More aggressive play = more deaths.
When recording, I can save at certain points which makes it easier so I do not have to try and beat the mission in one shot. Kasumi's mission only really has two good save points: one just before you pick up the greybox, and the other just before you go fight Donovon Hock. I couldn't even get to Donovon Hock after about an hour. I wanted to break my controller in frustration.
Rant time:
In Mass Effect 2, I like the Assault Sentinel. To get the Assault Sentinel, you need 10 points in Tech Armor for Assault Armor, 10 points in Power Mastery for Guardian (max cooldown), and the Tech Cooldown upgrade. Getting to that point with the Sentinel is absolutely frustrating. It absolutely hate the Sentinel until that point. And it's a good thing that with the Stolen Memory DLC (Kasumi DLC) that you can actually get the Tech Cooldown upgrade before Horizon. In the vanilla game, you got the Tech Cooldown upgrade after Horizon, sometimes after the Disabled Collector Ship depending on your mission order.
I hate hate hate the Sentinel until I can get an actual Assault Sentinel setup, but trying to get it means you are using a fairly garbage Sentinel at the beginning of the game, "spamming" Tech Armor on a large cooldown.
Rant over. I'll probably try finishing her mission later today. I just need a break to let my anger subside before I attempt it again.

So I managed to beat Kasumi's loyalty mission with Brandi Shepard. A few more stupid deaths occurred, but it still took me about an hour total. I researched the third Tech Damage upgrade, then the Tech Cooldown upgrade. Yay!
Then I discovered I had not researched the SMG Shield Damage upgrade. I hate me sometimes.

RE: Replaying ME1. (I have forgotten a lot of things, over the years.)
Explored the Citadel, loads of foreshadowing or just paranoia on my part...
I forgot about this design of the map/section.
< _ < . . . Yes, a perfect singularity. Leviathans-> Cuttlefish <-Asari At some point in time it's mentioned that each species sees more of their own image in an Asari rather than some other species. Leviathans were based off cuttlefish? Cuttlefish are known to take on the appearance of females in order to trick potential male competitors. Reapers would be a Leviathans competitor, in terms of existing... Asari fringes are somewhat identical to the appendages of a cuttlefish... and they're all female in appearance. Asari brain powers = Leviathan brain powers? The Asari might be a genetically engineered species like the Angara were... Leviathans might not have too difficult of a time blending(/mind controlling) into a species that they've developed. Asari look down on in-breeding, they seek to breed with other species so that something is gained. ((Gained//Data mining?))
Salarian lives are short, he's spent a good chunk of his life just recording data. What is the life span of a Leviathan... And how many civilizations have they recorded as losses, with their devices...

Last night, I played more Mass Effect 2 with Brandi Shepard. She went to Purgatory to pick up Subject Zero -- a.k.a. Jack. When the warden tried to force her into a cell so he could sell her, Brandi went on a rampage. She killed the men sent to stop her, released all the prisoners which started a riot, then cut a bloody swath through more Blue Suns mercs to kill the warden. She then left with Jack on the Normandy.
I only died a few times on this mission. Completing this mission also gave me enough points to get Assault Armor. I CAN FINALLY PLAY AN ACTUAL ASSAULT SENTINEL NOW!! WOOOOOOOOO!
Ahem.
Today Brandi Shepard went to Korlus to go recruit a Krogan Warlord named Okeer. She ran into (insane) Krogan, a lot of Blue Suns mercs, and Rana Thanoptis for some reason. Rana survived meeting Shepard a second time; very few are so lucky.
Brandi finally caught up with Okeer who showed Brandi his lab-grown Krogan. At this point, the crazy lady in charge of the Blue Suns merc squad decided to try to kill Okeer and his work, so Brandi went down and kicked her ass. Okeer died protecting his (lab-grown) baby, so Brandi took the tank with her back to the Normandy. She has not decided whether to open it yet.
So this mission went well; only a couple of deaths. I was still hanging back a little early game (not much when a bunch of mercs are on unreachable ledges), but I was finally able to go close quarters as an Assault Sentinel. Using the Shuriken SMG is fine, but I can't wait until I pick up shotgun training on the Disabled Collector Ship.

I am mostly editing some Mass Effect 2 video footage. Hopefully I can actually play the game a bit later today. The Collectors need their butts kicked off of Horizon.

I mean it's good and all, but Anderson should surely be under arrest after this? Doing the dirty work for Hackett. Sexy fun timer with Liara. Boy oh boy am I looking forward to developing this relationship (the apparent favourite of Bioware, mind, according to the BSN!) further in the sequel, what by having her as a companion throughout the story and developing the relationship further! They'd never make you actually pay more to experience it would they?! Also: Hope you are watching this, Fox News. Still not sure the timing of our arrival at exactly the same time as Saren adds up. Also, how did he find out it was Ilos anyway? Look at this: the only unique thing about Shep here, compared to anyone else. Surely they'd utilise this as a future plot point, rather than just her being well hard. What? No? Oh. Exposition dump is not as fun by the 6th time playing through. And the Vigil song ended up being overused in my opinion. BAM onto the Citadel. I really like this bit. It's very well done. Really gives a sense of scale and verticality. Back, and to the left. It's cheesy, but I love it. Really good way to finish the scene. I saved the Council and decided to not make a choice on Councillor. I think Udina gets it by default. Level 56 at the end and full renegade, about 70% paragon. Happy new year to everybody. Here's a video of me dying repeatedly trying to recruit Archangel/Garrus.
