Again, I got to play a lot. There is at least one advantage to chronic illness, I guess. 😄
I completed operations against all three of the major mercenary gangs of the Terminus Systems. I completed some other side content as well.
We saved hundreds of lives from a Batarian terrorist attack. Felt familiar. Those guys need a boot. Saved another settlement from extreme radiation by repairing their shielding ahead of a stellar event.
I completed Jacob's LM, the Collector Ship, Miranda's LM, and the recruitment of both Samara and Thane. LotSB and Jack's LM are at the top of the list for tomorrow, to be followed by Samara's, Thane's and Garrus' LMs. From there, Tuchanka. We'll see how far I get. That's a lot on that list.
I think I will also do Overlord and Arrival pre-Suicide Mission this time. Maybe not Arrival. We'll see.
There are things I love about each game. I always miss ME1 when I first start ME2. I love the vibe of ME1. That feeling of being a SPECTRE on a critical mission; the feeling of trying to help humanity take another big step forward; the feeling of exploring the final frontier.
In ME2, I love the polish. Taking a sky car to Dantius Towers on Illium is something completely different from anything in ME1. The setting is no longer so new, and humanity has a seat at the big table. We get to see how things are done in the infamous Terminus Systems.
In ME3, the gameplay is so damn slick, and the mood desperate. While I don't love everything about the inventory system, the guns and mods are great. Combos become a big deal, taking a big step toward aligning lore with gameplay. (Though the frequency with which biotic Shep can throw around effects remains unprecedented in lore; unprecedented and fun.)

Shepard takes the blame for the same reason he bothers to sit in lock-up at all: to avoid a war between the Batarian Hegemony and Earth. It's bad enough that everyone seems to know that Shepard blew up a star system. If it came out that he was there on behalf of an Alliance admiral, that would understandably be an act of war in the view of the Hegemony.
Little did anyone realize, they were already getting Reaperfied before the Alliance could make up its mind. The Batarians were already toasted by the time the Reapers hit Earth and essentially gave Shepard his parole.

After feeling a bit burnt out I returned after a few days and sent the Reapers back to hell. I was a bit rusty with Marauder Shields, though the bastard did make me laugh, I'm shooting him and he starts running backwards up the ramp towards the beam. I'm like, "Where are you going???!! This is Shepard's story, get back here!" LOL. No one steals Shep's glory, not even Marauder Shields!
Seems like the odds of getting sync killed have been greatly increased. I got sync killed probably double all my other playthroughs combined. Haha.

So I mentioned earlier that I was following a guide to get more and original dialogues by doing the Recruitment and LM's in a particular order but it requires doing Tali and Legions after the Reaper IFF mission.
There is a timer and I am paranoid about doing it this way, has anyone else ever done these two LM's after the IFF mission?

I didn't get a chance to do any loyalty missions or story missions last night. I am trying to get everything done before doing the IFF mission. Spent all of my play time mining and exploring the planets. I will likely finish up planet scanning tonight and than knock out the rest of the loyalty missions before doing Overlord. At this point I can't wait to get to ME3, and see Ash again. Posting that video of the voiced letter was a mistake. All this discussion of James and Hackett has me brainstorming a letter Marcus would send to Hannah before turning himself. In ME1 I did both the Paragon and Renegade quests, even though Marcus leans heavily paragon when not using exploits. It did put a different spin on the ME1 renegade quest while RPing a paragon Shepard. Arrival will be the second time where Marcus feels like he was set up by Hackett.

Finished ME3 getting the right ending and not the crap I got with the same character in the previous playthrough. I will now to go back to playing Baldilocks Shepard.
In the playthrough, I will do a playthrough not curing the genoohage and not getting peace between the geth and quarians while still getting the breath scene. That means not recruiting Wrex, destroying Maelons data, destroying the heretics in Legions loyalty mission so I can get the full amount of assets when choosing the quarians. Not sure if I will recruit all twelve squadmates. This playthrough I will romance Williams from beginning to end. I will be paragon, at least most of the time.

I completed LotSB earlier, and still no Stasis bonus power in ME2. 🤨 I hope they're eventually able to make this work.

I have a cold. So I played a lot of ME1 today. Finished the Geth incursion quests, Bring Down the Sky, and convinced Major Kyle to surrender. Started Noveria, took a nap, and am finishing it up right now. Hopefully, I'll get through Virmire tonight. I'm kinda tired of playing ME1.

From the journal of Mark Shepard:
So many bugs! I hate bugs! I don't know much about the Cerberus group, but they somehow managed to get a hold of some Rachni from Noveria and were starting to ship them all over the galaxy. I managed to take a bunch of them out on a couple of planets and I destroyed the automated depot, but did I get them all? I mean, they're bugs! They could be everywhere! I swear I hear them everywhere now.
I also managed to take out a bunch of biotic terrorists that had taken over some medical facility with not a single civilian casualty! I am so proud of me! I also managed to snag some of the weird-ass hallucinogenic drugs the terrorists had used on the civies. That stuff is wild! I'm tripping out, man! But wait, what if bugs... OH NO!

From the Personal Logs of Cerberus Commander Abigail Shepard, September 8th, 2185
Its been awhile since I have been in any sort of formal wear, in fact the last time was during the retirement party for Admiral DeWitt when he stood down as Task Force Commander of Task Force eighty four while I was still serving on the Foraker. So while I was still a fresh faced Lieutnant...a Year, maybe two before the assignment on the Normandy...the Admiral insisted on Civllian dress instead of mess dress. It was a gorgeous dress that Kasumi had found for me one of the best I have been given...though the heals were a bit much so I am not sure I'll be traisping around in the CIC in it.
Oddly enough I can legitimatley say this was not my first heist I have been apart of...or cocktail ball. So can't check those off my list of experience as I have been on both before throughout my career, though this is the first time I have been on a heist in a dress while trying to participate in it and not as an uninvited guest.
Hock was a bit of an over pompous ass though so it was a joy putting him down. I hope i made the right call with the Graybox. I hope that I hadn't put any lingering feeling of loyalty for the Alliance and what is best for it over the feelngs of my squad. But as I did tell her Keiji was the one who was pushing for it to end that way to. He didn't want her to just sit there and pine for him. I had no idea how this would work, I don't have experience...but I can certainly imagine.
September 14th
I hate my job sometimes. *she sighs and is silent for a minute collecting her thoughts* You know what the biggest difference between an officer and a grunt? In my experience? *she sighs, chuckles darkly* We have to be damn fortune tellers at times. We can't just live in the moment and make decisions in the moment but we have to make a snap second judgement on how these decisions will balance out and ripple out. How they will effect not only the immediete future but also in days and months. How will these decisions effect the lives of people in days or weeks or months or even years.
Vido Santiago is a monster. A murderer. A slaver. A mercenary. All these facts are well known and he has been running the Blue Suns for twenty years so we know he isn't easy to find and after this near disaster who knows when he would resurface. Taking him out was for the good of the galaxy. Had he survived he would've started the operation over again. More slaves. More death.
But to stop him, to kill him, I had to sacrifice the lives of who knows how many slaves and hostages that he had captured in his refinery. Aside from Zaeed's revenge, aside from him blackmailing me into it with his actions, it still was the right thing to do. Now I know its dangerous to try and play prophet its dangerous to play a game of trading lives but I know Video. X number of lives now for one life to save x number of lives later.
And the worse part of it was? Zaeed's choice was tactically sound. What he did was the only thing that could have been done...maybe we couldv'e fought our way out normally but they had us dead to rights. So pretty much one of us would have died, all of us would have died, or we would've been enslaved...and that would've been a fun wayy to end my career. So Zaeed saved us. But he did it in such a way where I am not sure I can trust him because this is why we have a chain of command in the first place. To coordinate. To make the choices in the split second we do so. Man is a hell of a fighter, I have his loyalty, but do I trust him not to go off the reservation again?
September 15
Today is the anniversary of when I died...how often does someone say that? I had a dream about it. It doesen't happen often honestly, I don't think my brain could've processed what happened because of the fact that...I died soon there after...so I don't think I have any PTSD. But last night my brain it was like it imagined what it would've been like...at 0300 hours. Shortly after I would've died in the real world. It woke me up. I couldn't get back to sleep...just lying there contemplating the fragility of life. So about 0600, before the official start of the ship day, I went to grab a cofee from the mess...no one was in it...and I took Garrus up on his offer.
*she smiles*
The Turian surprised me in hand to hand given how much of a sniper he is...though maybe I am rusty with it...with my sniping...or never was good at it. But he took two out of three rounds with me. Still it was fun to get through and it was just what the doctor ordered.
September 18th
Tracked down Morinth. After all the hype on her she went out...well kind of like a word that wouldn't neccessarily be kosher to say even in an unofficial log. to be fair I was a little worried there for a second, felt a small hold on my mind as she was trying the whole 'look into my eyes' thing. I don't know how Samara will deal with this long term, but at least she has peace...and Nef has justice.
September 22nd
Closed down a rampant VI virus program that was making bad... robots. Bit tense going through all those Loki mechs but we got through that. And also fought dozens of husks in an abandoned mine...don't know why where ever we go and throw down with Husks there just seems to be...hundreds of them. All the humans that have succombed to this already. The galaxy is already a far emptier place.
September 25
Finally went after the Reaper IFF mission. And once more...Cerberus either had a huge staff working on the thing or the Reaper was drawing people in from a wide area...God if indoctrination is that powerful...but there were Husks. Dozens of them, plus multiple scions we had to fight through. Like mobile mortars those things are, the combination almost got lethal a couple of times. It was eerie watching the logs of the crew as the Reaper was slowly effecting them and...well we did it though. The wreck put up its shields, which is its own level of terrifying but we were able to shut down the core and get off of it.
The big surprise though there was a Geth onboard. One who saved us...well no at least helped us...no saves us may be accurate after all. He helped us get to the core and even spoke to us. Said my name.
I decided to activate the unit and well...we now have a Geth unit on the crew. We named it Legion. I do not know what to make of its story. We spent so much time killing Geth during the Eden Prime War that it is hard to see them as anything but an enemy. Yet...it claims that there is a schism within the Geth and what we fought was but one faction. A heretic faction. It does make sense on some level after all the story of humanity and human wars and politics is a story of factions and sub factions all having different tactics while following the same goal. But the geth...aren't human.
He did point us in the direction of a Heretic Station...I suppose we'll see our answers there.

Marcus helped Tali, Mordin, and Grunt, solidifying their commitment to the him and the mission. Kelly joined Marcus for dinner in his quarters, and despite Kelly's flirtatious nature, their relationship has become a solid friendship. Ashley's picture fully on display likely quelled some of Kelly's romantic interest. Marcus took Kelly up on her offer to feed his fish. He already had to replace them once, due to forgetting to feed them between combat drops. Marcus kept things friendly with Tali, after she seemed to make a pass at him when discussing Quarian immunology. The whole conversation had him scratching his head, maybe it was just Tali over sharing due to her fever and the meds she had taken.

Today i`ve done some quests in the Citadel, went to Eden Prime and found Javik, took control of a Cerberus fighter base in Noveria and rescued the ex-Cerberus scientist that were hiding in Gellix.

So...I uh...*acidentally*...did the Suicide Mission last night. I thought the SM was a lot longer then it apparently was so my intention was to start it so I would have easier time for the whole log thing I do but now it turns out I now have a lot longer logs to report in on instead. As a note too two of my biggest complaints with ME 2s story was that 1. It does not really relate to ME 3 that much, in terms of theme and revelation and obviously a lot of stuff that shows up in 2 shows up in 3 again for setting continuity...but it does not really advance the 'stop the Reaper' plot too much. 2. And perhaps way more frustrating of all is that mission that we never actually get to play where Shepard abandons the Normandy...so these logs will dip into the terriroty of pure headcanon to fix the issue. On the bad news I did not get all the video I wanted. There was a hiccup but at least I know why, and hopefully won't forget, what that hiccup was. From the Personal Logs of Cerberus Commander Abigail Shepard, September 30th, 2185Legion has proved himself and his story seems to check out...this would have to be one hell of a false flag operation for it to not be at least legitimate and I had Tali with me so she could've double checked the status of these units. But he did fight with us in battle on the Geth station, fired on his own people, and eventually came up with the plan that led to the desstruction of the entire station. Total mission success. I'll admit in talking with him I find Geth philosophy to be more appealing then anything that I have found out of organic organizations or governments lately. His commentary about how organic governments impose consensus is especially poignant. I do not know if we can ever imitate the geth process in total but to have a race that seemingly believes in true self determination for all life hits especially hard with the Alliance and Council seemingly vying for constant political control. However it is just as true that not even all Geth seem to share this view. The idea of just being left alone and allowed to lead our own affairs... Of course this issue was also at the heart of why we went there in the first place. The Heretic Super Weapon which allows for full brainwashing of all Geth to accept the Reaper view. An unviable situation if ever I heard one because it seems like we have the heretics on the ropes...but if they were to get how many more reinforcements it could reopen the war which would cause who knows how much destruction at a time when the galaxy needs it least. But this did provide us with the otpion, entirely destroy the Heretic station...and by extension apparently all Heretics...or use the virus on them and wipe them out. I can't tell you I have always found brainwashing, mind control, the complete loss of self and the subsmasion of self to a higher power to be amongst the creepiest things that can apparently be possible. I did have some idea with it, the Alliance knew this stuff was out there, afterall resisting Asari influence was apart of my N training back in the day... but since then we have run into Indoctrination, hacking, and a whole host of other things. But then the thing is through my own study of history I also abhor genocide and wiping out an entire perspective from the universe...it seems I share that in common with the Geth. So here I was, with an untenabble choice to make. And while technically the Heretics had proven themselves to be entirely hostile...that still is a hard concept for me to wrap my head around. But in the end the choice was clear, if they went back and convinced the Geth, if they went back and the Reapers somehow convinced the Geth to work with them...one synthetic to another...then we'd have to fight a much stronger force. So the choice was clear at the end, blow them up. October 1The Reaper IFF needed testng and we got a message from out of the blue. I have been dealing in the background with an organization which claimed to believe me about the Reaper threat and had evidence to suggest. But with the IFF causing issues we went via shuttle. It ended up being a nothing burger. They were just fringe conspiracy theorists more then an actual organization with a smoking gun...and they were more interested in finally meeting the great Commander Shepard...it was more then a little creepy. And it makes me wonder. Since when we returned we found that the Collectors had attacked the Normandy in force...and only by the thinnest of margins was Joker able to save himself and the ship. If we were still in the Alliance I would recommend him for some sort of very high honor...and I fully endorse his decision to unshackle the AI EDI. But now we are on the clock. We were pretty much ready anyways but now we have little choice but to engage the Collectors and go through the Omega 4. October 4thDespite the ticking clock I just had one more thing I had to do. I know my crew could be turned into Husks at this very moment, killed, or subjected to torture but I just have to hope. Once more I had to do the right thing. Someone else outside of Cerberus, who has shown a lack of willingness to share with people, has to know what we have been through. I sent a message to Anderson and set up a secure meeting with him. He didn't have quite the reaction I was expecting when I bought Legion, which either shows the ultimate trust in me or they really aren't boogymen...though in fairness Anderson was always fairly even keeled. I told him about the Heretic situation and what was going on out there. That there are Geth that opposed the Reapers and not the entire race went to war against us when they attack Eden Prime. He seemed skeptical, but again open to the idea overall. But I also gave him a copy of the SR2s complete log book and database pertaining to the Reapers and the Collectors. I am not sure what good it will do, after Soverign and Illos if they don't believe it now when will they?...but at least someone knows, at least if this is the final ride of the Normandy then our data won't go to waste. I know I am taking a risk, I know almost no one will choose to believe me and nothing good will come from this...but it still is the right thing to do. October 8 Today is the day. In a couple of hours we hit the Collector Base. *she sighs, and leans forward into the pickup illuminating her face* Garrus was right. This mission is different. When you get down to brass tacks every single mission could be a combat mission, a suicide mission, could lead in your death. Just one bullet and you are...gone. And I have been on at least one hundred and two active combat missions, I haven't fired shots in anger in all of them mind you, but one hundred and two combat missions. Several different tours from Alliance Space to the Teriminus Systems. Over a dozen commendations and medals. Special Forces Operations across the galaxy. In...well depending on how you look at it 13 years of service. And this was even before the Eden Prime War where the operational pace and the danger I have faced has increased beyond my ability to keep track. But Garrus is right...because usually its a mad rush. Usually we get good intel, or bad intel, sometimes we plan for a week or two, and then we go off and engage the enemy in a fire fight. No time to really pause and reflect, sometimes its an emergency sortie, sometimes its a well planned mission. I have been preparing for this mission for 5 months. Everything I have done since coming back and taking command of the SR 2 has been funelling myself to this moment and I can't help be...a little afraid...because I know what Death is like, I have been there, I have seen it. For the first time probably since my very first missions I am genuinely afraid. For myself. My life. My squad. My crew. And if we fail who knows how many humans will pay the price. And yet this is what my training is for. *she snorts* Its funny I have been taking care of everyone's needs, securing their loyalty, making sure they are ready for the mission. But no one has done so for me...though it would be selfish to expect that of them. But yet I have been trained for moments such as these because it was drilled into my head from the earliest days of N school...ignore and overide. Put your feelings aside, use them if you have to, but get the job done. Because if I don't, because if I allow myself to become distracted...then a lot more people are going to die. From the Personal Logs of Abigail Shepard, October 9th, 2185We did it. The Suicide Mission more or less lived up to its name. By some miracle I was able to get everyone out. My crew. My squad. No casualties. But the number of hostiles we faced and the intensity of the fighting was some of the worse in my career. Though maybe not as bad as it could have been. Seems there wasn't a lot of Collectors aorund. For one reason or another. Could've been over the generations they just lost the numbers, but there was still enough of them to make things...interesting. I can't say I am entirely surprised but maybe a little dissapointed. The Illusive Man wanted to keep the base for Cerberus to secure Humanity's future. And it was tempting. On some level I do respect the man and he and I share a lot of the same outlooks...but he probably takes it too far and I knew he wouldn't share this informaation with the Alliance. Just Cerberus. And while I do not trust the Alliance I have been down this path before. I trusted that humanity would do the right thing with the Council...hell I didn't even do that because it wasn't about that. But we still rushed in to fill the void and put our stamp on the galaxy. So, here we are. I couldn't just trust all that power in one group's hands...and with the potential for indoctrination it just wasn't worth the risk. Here we are then, a total independent ship serving no one but ourselves. No allies. No real support. We are heavily damaged. I suppose the best thing to do would be to find somewhere to repair this damage. Omega seems likely enough. And to finally visit the crash site of the SR-1...from there? Who knows.

I didn't play for as long as the previous days, but I was efficient. I completed the Tuchanka LMs; Jack's LM; Project Overlord; Tali's recruitment; and the Arrival.
I imagine tomorrow will see me finish ME2, as we have only Tali's LM; the IFF; Legion's LM and the Suicide Mission left.
It's a shame Shepard caps at level 30 in ME2. I reached level 30 before reaching Tuchanka. If I could've kept leveling, there was plenty of game left. Who cares if we enter ME3 at level 35, or whatever? We still cap at 60. Better to hit the ceiling at 60 rather than 30.

From the journal of Mark Shepard:
Earlier today I spoke with Ashley and joked that it seemed like everything in the universe was trying to kill me, even the plants. Then we went to Feros where a freaking plant did try to kill me! Wrex later said that evil plants were bigger on Tuchanka. Not sure if he was joking or being serious. I am never visiting Tuchanka ever.

So yesterday did the stupid Firewalker missions and scanned LOTS of planets. In all honesty the missions weren't too bad the only thing I did wrong was only got 9 of the research packets on the cold planet run. I am 100% sure I actually extracted the 10th package but that the game didn't recognise it. Died on my first attempt in the mission at the lasy artifact extraction because I just didn't remember the tactic to get through that fight but succeeded second attempt. But the hammerhead really does suck. Did a couple of scanned planets missions that popped up like defending the Quarian from Varren, the ship in that ha a nice tie into one of the MET books. Then started Project Over Lord, got to the point of destroying the Satellite now off to the three stations. Pic's

Marcus helped Jacob investigate a distress call from his father, whose ship had crashed ten years earlier. The end result was Jacob's father being sent to prison for crimes against his marooned crew, and care set up for the survivors. Next Marcus tackled a series of missions that revealed just how poorly the Hammerhead was designed. Much to Marcus's displeasure he had to use the Hammerhead when investigating Project Overlord. Yet another Cerberus project that had gone off the rails, surprise, surprise. The project even had Miranda questioning Cerberus, and how Dr. Gavin Archer could use his own sibling to further his ambition and Cerberus' goals. When TIM learned that Marcus had left David Archer in the care of Grissom Academy, TIM sent a message regretting the loss of a "resource" such as David Archer. Marcus shared the message with Miranda, finally fracturing her view of Cerberus' leader. Over the course of working with Marcus, Miranda's defense of Cerberus was becoming less and less enthusiastic. Marcus knew the mission struck a deep cord with Miranda, undermining what little loyalty she still felt to Cerberus and TIM. ---- I know Bioware didn't bring any of crew VAs back for Project Overlord, but Miranda really should have had something to say about the whole thing. And TIM's email message should have had her thinking about how TIM might use Oriana, if stopping the Collectors truly turns out to be a suicide mission. I always save Overlord for right before the IFF, and head canon it is when Miranda's loyalty to Cerberus reaches the breaking point. Playing through the series and really paying attention again, reveals just how much my own head canon filled in content and dialogue I felt was missing. Now only if Miranda had bigger part in ME3

From the Personal Logs of Abigail Shepard, October 10th, 2185
Aria was gracious enough to give me and my crew a significant discount for the use of Omega's dockyards to repair the Normandy's battle damage. Of course the problem is we have a limited shelf life here considering it would be the next obvious place for us to go so Cerberus could be on their way. But I do worry if this might come back to cost us later...or is the fact that this is her giving us one more favor for all the good we have done with them in the past for her and helping her make sure Omega is secure.
With the Normandy laid up I had to take a shuttle to the next destination. Probably could've taken Joker and Chakwas too but I really had to do this alone.
I thought that it would have been easier. That avenging the Normandy by defeating the Collectors would have made it easier for me to deal with. It really didn't. Too many ghosts. Too many memories. The dog tags. Remembering Pressly, the Mako...Kaidan... and the time we all spent. But I can at least take some small solace in the fact that they are avenged. That the bastards who put them down have been put down themselves. Maybe one day that will help.
October 15th The brief vacation is sort of coming to an end. I have to have the ship pull double shifts to finish the repairs because Hacket needs us, needs the Normandy. Well at least he needs me. Its been awhile since I have gone solo on a mission before like this but its also not the first time and he needs my help. Keeping the details a little bit on the down low but a friend of his needs help so I am going in to get them out of the fire. But it looks like it involves my old friends the Batarians. This should go well.

Now only if Miranda had bigger part in ME3 As I have been playing the last two days I have been more and more shocked by how my memory has has made me think the missions were much longer and harder than they actually are, either that or I have gotten exceptionally better at combat which is possible but not sure. I also think I have memories that contain things I have thought about the game rather than what is actually in it which I think it has been established that humans do that.
