Well, I'm not playing so far today. My wife has a bad headache, so I'm holding off on shooting and explosions.
I am reading Mass Effect Ascension, instead. I only read this once, many years ago. While I recall the story and the main characters, I'd sort of forgotten at least one supporting character.
It's nice to see the less annoying side of the Quarians again. Tali's ridiculous promotion to Admiral; her forced involvement with Normandy in ME3; and the retcon of why they need environmental suits (so players could make sexy time 🙄) combined to sour me on most things quarian.
For those who haven't read it, Ascension tells the story that Tali briefly mentions on Freedom's Progress at the beginning of ME2. A human biotic ends up hiding from Cerberus on the flotilla, and Cerberus comes for her. That's a very vague synopsis. The downed scout vessel Cyniad, whose surviving crew we protect from varren in ME2, as well as the parent ship Idenna, are also involved in the story.
I can't recall how much I enjoyed it, and I'm still pretty early in the book. I do like Kahlee Sanders, though, and she's a main character in all three of Karpyshyn's novels.

This sums up a lot of ME2 and ME3 to a lesser extent for me. So many lore changes for fan service. IE lack of helmets and proper armor for some characters, romances with physical intimacy that break lore set in earlier games. I doubt I will ever romance Tali or Garrus. Despite the other flaws with the story and lore, those two romances really break the sense of immersion for me.

Did a lot of cleaning up the galaxy map and then heading back to the citadel to close a lot of loose ends. The main quest I did was the Monastery and William conviced Samara to trust her daughter would be OK by herself. Bumped into Conrad Verner and solves a medi-gel sabotage and met Jenna under-cover again. Bumped into this guy Shepards advice to Kelly paid off Helped Captain Riley and authroised an award for her Completed the Monastery Changed to the Cerberus Ajax armour again but used a mod to make it Alliance colours. I like the detail with Shepards name etc. on it

I finally got to get some screen time with ME1 today.
I completed all the available side quests, BDtS, and Feros. I have only two side quests remaining in Maroon Sea before heading to Virmire and on toward the finish line.
I am still getting trash from RNG drops and vendors, so I asked Chief Engineer Atwell for Light Human Armor again. Shepard now has Colossus X, and Liara inherited his Colossus VIII from my previous time through BDtS. So frustrating.
Thorian Creepers, aka Pukers, could have their health reduced 50% and still be durable. I do, at least, have an efficient way of mopping them up with no issues. It's good to have two biotics; one with Singularity and another in case you need an emergency throw. (Pukers are weak, but the puke kills on contact when playing Insanity.)
So, with my Sentinel (+singularity) Shepard, I took along Kaidan and Ashley. Everyone generally uses Sledgehammer Rounds by default in my group. They used ARs, while I used a shotgun for crowd control. I put the creepers on the ground with one shot, and they rarely ever regain their feet under a hail of Sledgehammer Rounds. Biotics control the Shiala-clone and any large creeper swarms; and provide quick rescues if the occassional creeper gets close.
It's a grind, but it's easy. They really should reduce creeper health substantially. There's no good reason for each creeper to soak damage like a Geth Prime unit.
Since I maxed out my Charm/Persuade this playthrough with the help of the Qui'in glitch, I was able to sell Jeong on the marketing benefits of ensuring Feros thrives. What a tool Jeong is.
I considered playing the main quests in a different order. I would like to hear the dialogue variances, and maybe put events into a slightly more logical order. Both Feros and Noveria, though, generate side quests upon completion. I don't want to skip them, and don't want to make a dramatic escape from the Citadel to go kill Rachni in Styx Theta or Creepers in Maroon Sea. Add to that how action-packed Virmire->Citadel->Ilos->Sovereign feels, and I decided to stick to my usual order.
Anyway, this is probably a long post, now. I can never really tell since I post via a mobile. Now, it's time to browse the BSN and finish the last 7% (according to Kindle) of Mass Effect Ascension.

Yeah I think if I do end up doing incerased playthroughs (thanks t ohow the LE works) than befoer I could see myself mixing things up more even if I do end up wit ha bad scoer in ME3 because not having the GR stuff there won't deter me from feeling the need to crank it so much. My first run of the LE was a more typical run for me as I wanted to see what a normal moer completionist run that I normally do would look like at the end but I was planning on making my next Shepard a not so perfect Shepard. I've also been considering going down the route of using the Genesis comics to create different world states for New game plus Sheps should I decide to try it. Especiall yas I've never had the comics until now but then like wit hsome of th eAppearqanc eDLC's for companions I didn' treally see the point of getting them as I normally prefer to run through all 3 games anyway given I could. But given they'er included as part of the LE it's made mr ethink of trying something like that given i twil l save me som egame time doin gthings like that for the New Game Plus mode.

MJ recovered some reaper artifacts from a Cerberus lab. She followed that up with recruiting Garrus and rescuing a Primarch. MJ has developed a fascination with combining fire and biotics to take out her targets.

I was very surprised to see this screen. On my ps3 I had a lot, I mean a lot more, saves without ever seeing that screen. As you can see, there are two scions behind the console. If I were to move forward, I would activate both and husks to attacking me. What I did was use a weapon, or in my case, use a combat drone, to defeat them without having to deal with the husks. This might help someone who wants to play ME2 on insanity mode.

I finished ME1 earlier, sacrificing the Council and never recruiting Wrex. I'm concerned, because the game seems to be behaving as if Wrex were part of my SR1 crew. 🙄 I won't know the truth until Tuchanka, I guess.
I am currently talking to Kelly "Scale Itch" Chambers. I can't wait to get through this talky-talky BS and get into the story.
I am playing Soldier in ME2&3. I chose Flashbang Grenades for my bonus power. The Soldier needs little, and nearly everything messes with cooldowns, getting in the way of Adrenaline Rush. I figure FB Grenades add a little crowd control, at least.

I have been avoiding my favorite romance. Holding off in the hope that mods eventually get moved over to MELE. Today I fired up my modded ME3, just to see Shepard with my preferred love interest.

So yesterday William spent the whole time on Omega with Aria taking back Omega with Nyreen. Did everything including finding Aria's couch except the final fight to get Petrovsky as I ran out of time. I don't know what it is but this DLC just doesn't really do it for me, I like Nyreen and Aria but there is just something about the dialogue and story that don't quite grab me. Pic's

I'm starting to make some progress, now, in ME2. It never feels like anything has happened until Mordin and Garrus are aboard.
Shepard recruited Zaeed and hit Omega's shops for desired gear. Then he "visited the Council," though only Anderson would see him. The tension and tone are bad after humans add themselves to the Council. Still, the Cold War arms race might help when the Reapers arrive.
We recruited Kasumi and took care of her business on Beckenstein. Then, we returned to Omega, recruiting Mordin and Garrus.
I always get a bit bored until Archangel's mission. That's when it finally starts to feel like the game has started for me. I usually take Zaeed and Mordin. This time I took Miranda instead of Mordin. No big difference.
Soldier is so strong in this game. Weapons are always the best way to deal direct damage in any ME game. The Mattock is so good on a Soldier. Every trigger pull a headshot with bonus damage. Nice. I'll select the Revenant on the Collector Ship, since I prefer the Viper SR and Scimitar and GPS shotguns. Still, if I use it, I'll only do so for specific missions. The Mattock is just too good.
Flashbang has been solid. I only have Rank 1 for now, but I've used it to stutter enemies several times. I tossed a few while closing shutters in Garrus' basement.
It's still early, so I don't yet have much online. I have AR3, Disruptor Ammo 2, Inferno Ammo 1, Commando 4, Flashbangs 1. I'm not sure if I'll try Squad Cryo Ammo this time or just evolve what I currently have. Plenty of time to decide.
Adrenaline Rush's time dilation is annoying. I wish I had ME3's Marksman or MEA's Turbocharge instead. A Soldier uses it so often that it probably adds hours to a playthrough. I can't think about it, though, or I'll want to switch classes. 😆

I have obligations tonight, but managed to squeeze in as much ME2 as possible.
After finishing up business on Omega, we headed to the edge of the galaxy. Zaeed had an existing contract on Zorya in the Ismar Frontier. He took the job for revenge; but Shepard ensured that the well-being of the workers was prioritized. Initially unhappy, Zaeed eventually agreed to put the greater mission first.
Then, time running short, I rushed through Firewalker. I scanned planets and all, gathering enough resources that I'm nearly set for the rest of the game.
Completing Firewalker, I promptly saved, logged into a Zoom Meeting, and then logged onto BSN to shirk responsibility in style. 😄

Replaying ME1 for the second time, and I am currently on the Citadel. I've recruited Wrex, Garrus, and Tali. Saw some new dialogue between Kaidan and Ashley, also Ashley speaks to the husband whose wife was a soldier and the military would not give up the body. I've scanned 19 out of the 20 Keepers for chorban. Later on tonight when I play Shepard, Ashley, and Kaidan will wrap the few remaining side quests on the Citadel.

So little time again yesterday, finished off Omega buy capturing Petrovsky (I hate that fight) and then did the scanning of the systems/planets around Thessia and then Thessia itself. Got to output Tykis and there my combat ability/brain deserted me and I died because I just forgot about you know FINDING COVER. Anyway after that my brain engaged and it all was pretty easy until that damn Harvester bit where I picked up the Hydra but then managed to miss the damn thing so had to take it down with an AR and with Liara and Javik dying several times. I have found a lot in MELE3 that the squad mates are really useless at finding cover by themselves or they take cover but there is no cover where they squat down or that they take cover and do nothing. I have them on full auto in terms of their abilities but find I still have to constantly tell them what to do. Liara in particular seems to be the worst in this regard. Anyway Javik and Liara's dialogue is great but having heard it before so many times I was actually tempted to not take Javik. Did the comm's hub as well with Ash and James which was fun. I just ran around shutting down the cerberus devices and left the shooting too Ash and James only killing a few Cerberus soldiers myself. Started Horizon, literally got to entering the Sanctuary facility and had to stop. Pic's

There is dialogue from Zaeed in ME3 that was cut from the final product where -- if you let Vido live to save the workers -- Zaeed talks about chasing Vido down after Shepard went back to the Alliance. There are some mods for the original Mass Effect 3 that restore the full conversation. Relevant video here:

The sad thing is I was really interested in getting to know Zaeed's backstory. He reminds me so much of Canderous Ordo from KOTOR. Wish Zaeed had some stories like Canderous did.

But nope, they never mention Vido again, and Zaeed practically does not say anything afterwards. There is dialogue from Zaeed in ME3 that was cut from the final product where -- if you let Vido live to save the workers -- Zaeed talks about chasing Vido down after Shepard went back to the Alliance. There are some mods for the original Mass Effect 3 that restore the full conversation. Relevant video here: Thanks for sharing that, it's amazing how they cut stuff like that but put stuff that is monotonous and boring in to the game play in games to get the hours up.

Yeah it's a bit disappointing really. The sad thing is I was really interested in getting to know Zaeed's backstory. He reminds me so much of Canderous Ordo from KOTOR. Wish Zaeed had some stories like Canderous did. Have you listened to all his stories aboard Normandy? I still enjoy them after nearly a decade. "I'd give up every weapon I own for one more mission with that shitty old rifle." dazk, I love that Petrovsky fight; probably because it's mostly solo and features Adjutants. I love those things. I wish we had gotten to fight more of them. This fight ends too quickly for me. Press the button, shoot the thingy, sprint to the next one. Too short. I'm always a bit bummed when I kill the last Adjutant. As to allies, they will often get themselves killed if you allow them to use their own powers. (Plus, they won't be available when I want to perform chained combos. ) Squishy ones need to be given weapons that keep them in cover a larger portion of the time. Liara with a Phalanx pistol? Good. Liara with a Hurricane SMG? She's probably going to get herself killed while trying to exhaust her heat sink. EDIT: I always forget that the javelin is lying there. I need to try to remember next time. I usually just kill the thing with chained combos and assault rifle fire.

My biggest problem in the Petrovsky fight is usually that I panic and forget to check the Mini Map and end up caught in a corner surrounded by Adjutants, that actually happened first attempt. I think because I hadn't done it for a while and I am just not great when I have to move around a lot, I am far more comfortable when I can hold a position and then move to another one. Anyway second time was easier. Can you kill all the enemies or do they keep spawning until you free Aria? Next time I'll turn their powers off auto use.
