Jenna's spent most of the week traipsing round the galaxy with her friends. Went shooting geth with Wrex and Tali, hunting armour with Wrex again and then tracking down a dodgy salarian doctor with Garrus. Seriously, who calls themselves Dr Heart? You're either a stripper or a character in a bad daytime soap, there's no way you're a cardiologist. Shep should have said... To round that off Jenna chased monkeys round Eletania and had a close encounter of the Prothean kind.

My head works the same way; to me, the central character of the Mass Effect trilogy is "Miriam", not "Shepard" I headcanon that by the time the loyalty missions in ME2 are in full swing and the crew has started to gel as a band of true companions, everyone is on first-name terms. The subtitles and voice actors say "Shepard"; but in my head, the characters say "Miriam".

finished me1 re-run. I ended up being close to defaults, but made a point of saving things that I think are better within a "default" state. some future placeholder npcs don't work for me. like fake rachni queen or lack of rana thanoptis.

Today I should finish up a new run (second pass, to get to level 60) ... initially inspired to check out the upgraded sound and visuals from two mods I finally got around to doing. Didn't really intend on completing the run ... much less doing it a second time to get to 60, but ...
Was curious to see what "stuff" now available on PC (previously exclusive to one or both consoles) might be like ... not really enough of a motivation to do another ME2 run, but ...
On this forum (not the old BSN) learned about the expanded galaxy mod ... which after installing it, took a quick peek at what it offered, now had real motivation to do another run. The fact the mod goes back to what you did in ME and ME2 (based on import to ME3), to determine some of what is available in ME3 ... that was the motivation I needed to start a new run.
Lots of nostalgia and remembering things I'd forgotten about ME ... it's been several years since I'd played it. Held off saving Liara until after Novaria and Feros ... to hear the dialog where she thinks Shepard is a hallucination. Had never done it. Was worth the wait.
Will be interesting to see how much of ME2 I've forgotten. This time ... for the first time, my Shepard is going to romance Garrus. Almost did that once, with one of my earlier runs, will finally get around to it now. I'd only done one vanguard run, with a male Shepard. So this time, since it was my least used class (which is also true in ME3MP), I did a vanguard with my female Shepard.

Miriam Shepard received orders from Admiral Hackett to investigate a geth incursion in the Armstrong Nebula. She, Tali and Liara stormed the four outposts, shot down a troop dropship, cleared out the main base of operations in the Grissom system, and used a whole year's supply of omni-gel while performing many field repairs on the Mako.
(I'm going for the Quarian Ally achievement, hence Miriam takes her enviro-suited gal pal on all the missions).

This weekend Jenna has visited Feros and a asteroid on a collision course with Terra Nova. Having taken her alien friends with her a lot recently, she took Ash and Kaidan along for both outings. Feros didn't go exactly to plan, she had to shoot Jeong, but as far as I can see that's no great loss, and although it was worth if for Ash's response to ManShep's ability to spout corporate BS, she's less of an admirer of Jenna's bum. Jeong sounded like he was about to kill everybody and Jenna's less of a push over or as good an actor as Scott was. (Some of the reason my "Shep" is being referred to by her first name is to separate her from Scott, my much loved Sheploo, paragon and Infiltrator. I've played the trilogy through with him twice (well, 2.33 times since i started with a run of Mass Effect 2) and i miss him already. Scott's still "Shep" to me, Jenna is somebody who has the same surname, even though i've tired to make it look like they're related. For reference Jenna is an Earthborn, Sole Survivor and Vanguard, she's a little more paragade than full on paragon, "king of the boy scouts" Scott, but not a lot.)Problem number two was that the idiot with the controller had failed to max out Jenna's grenade capacity and Jenna was reduced to hitting people over the head. I did discover a refill box, round the back of the portacabin/spaceship thing in the colony though. Too late, I'd already shot one poor soul I'd meant to hit.
Bring Down the Sky went much better, for the first time ever, nobody died in the minefield and the Mako didn't actually catch fire! It did get driven up and down some very wild gradients though and had to keep making strategic retreats in order to regenerate shields.
Next up is a final run round the galaxy finishing up all the little jobs Admiral Hackett likes to pester Jenna with. Mercenaries, mad scientists and thresher maws, before heading off to Virmire.

I'm almost done with my ME2 run, which was my goal until the BW forums close! So yesterday I've completed Lair of the Shadow Broker, deliberately failed Samara's loyalty mission, prevented Tali from exile, helped Jack on Pragia, dealt with Dr. Gavin Archer and his sick experiment, aaaand went to the Normandy crash site. Gonna finish the game tonight Here are some pics:

I'm working on three separate runs at the same time: I'm about a third to halfway through a MaleShep insanity run in ME1 and about the same amount through a Femshep run of ME2 (using an ME1 import). I also have a ME3 MaleShep insanity run about two thirds along.
My ME1 MaleShep just finished going the paragon route during the Dr. Saleon mission, telling Garrus to stand down so the Alliance could interrogate him. Unfortunately, Dr. Saleon was of a mind to try to escape, so Shepard shot him in the back. He then gave Garrus some lame line about not being able to control how others acted, but able to control his own response (I had forgotten that don't really like that line).
My ME2 Femshep is currently camped for a few days at the Shadowbroker's base to complete the investment reports and collect the 4 available weapons mods through the daily deliveries. I do this so that I only stop in at that base once and still get everything, as opposed to leaving to do a mission and returning multiple times. This is the first Femship I've played that has actively flirted with Jacob from the outset of the game. I think I like her "personal talk" line way better than the slutty delivery of the "I'm just interested in talking for a bit" line.
My ME3 Maleshep was about to rescue the Turian Platoon on Tuchanka, but I haven't advanced on that run for a couple of weeks now. I will probably get back to it for a bit though while my ME2 Femshep is camping out.

I finally got my husband ready to play the ME series. Playing on his computer isn't very comfortable for him. He needs to set up the PS3 for wireless so we can download that. For DLCs, I'm just going to get BDtS for now. My husband and I are both avid gamers, but we typically don't have a lot of overlapping tastes. If he starts to enjoy ME, then we'll have that in common. I've made myself a few promises though. The only areas I'm going to advise him on (unless requested) is this: 1) I'm going to create his character's look. I've got some good sliders around. 2) Warn him about the Liara/human LI ninjamance 3) Let him know about getting decryption skills up. 4) When he gets to the beach on Virmire, before he confronts Wrex, I'll let him know about the setup for the Virmire decision. I'll let him know that whomever he wishes to save should go with STG. 5) Pick an alignment, since neutral is pretty useless most of the time. It'll be neat to see what he does differently than I did.

1) I'm going to create his character's look. I've got some good sliders around. I sincerely hope you're going to cut your hubby some slack and make sure she has red hair. Seriously. FemShep is the best Shep to play as a man, even if (or especially if) he ends up discovering his inner RPG lesbian.

Miriam Shepard, Tali and Kaiden flew to the Moon to disable the rogue VI that had taken control of the Alliance training facility. Rocket drones, how I hate thee... and I do wonder about the wisdom of using live rockets in training exercises... Next, a trip to the Argos Rho cluster with Wrex to take down Tonn Actus and his merry men. Wrex now has his heirloom back. Finally, a jaunt to the Kepler Verge to track down Dr Saleon. Shepard, Tali and Garrus boarded his ship, fought their way through a zombie horde and confronted the doctor. Shepard convinced Garrus to bring him in for questioning rather than just shooting him, but Saleon refused to come quietly so Garrus got to take him down anyway. In this playthrough, I'm using a shotgun as Shepard's primary weapon despite it being untrained. Crouching makes the targeting reticle smaller, not unlike an ME3 shotgun reticle with a smart choke mod. With high explosive ammo, she can't miss, and the resulting BOOM and massive damage is almost as if she's packing a High Lord Claymore

I apologize for the lack of screenshots this time, but I'm going PS3 for this. I'll admit that I've only done one run of the trilogy without using mods. I'm considering this sort of a fresh start for me. I'm taking my time to do all of the conversations, exploration and all of the little details. Name: Natashina Shepard Age: 28 Class: Solider Background: Spacer/War Hero Romance angle: Only thing for sure is that she isn't thinking about love with anyone. Alignment: Paragon On the Virmire Death Pool: Currently Kaidan. That might change, but I don't know. Current area: Bombing around the Citadel doing FedEx and Keeper quests. Slider code in spoiler tags below. I tweaked the mouth elevation and nose elevation a bit. I also picked short black hair and blue eyes: 7-4-1 1-14-17-12-1-4-24 8-25-15-7-12-7-1 14-23-6-20 7-16-1-13-14 5-8-26 7-2-16-6

Tried a texture mod for ME2. Not sure if there's any difference. I played the beginning. ***** The ground shook and the walls seemed to bend under the roar of assault rifles and the occasional whomp of explosives. None of the fire was coming their way yet. She kept half an eye trained on the battle progression through the batarian stronghold through the link on her helmet visor and the other on the squad. She didn't need to see their faces to know they were tethering on the edge, just as she was. They all wanted to rush in like berserkers and finished off the thrice damn batarians. No quarter would be given. Not when they were hip deep in slave corpses, used and thrown aside like rubbish.
The walls of the room they were in, slave pens really, shook under a stronger barrage. She smiled grimly as enemy icons began to break up under the Alliance push. Some were headed their way. What a shock they would get when they realised they had been cut off. "Shepard! Shepard!"
Irritably, she looked around. Who the hell was breaking OP and shouting like that? "Wake up! Shepard, wake up!" The ground beneath her shook. Her eyes snapped open. White. She stared at the white surface above her in confusion. Her vision swam and wavered. "Shepard!" The voice called insistently. Sounds of explosions, faint screams. She realised she was lying on a medbed. The room she was in was shaking to explosive impact going off somewhere. Where? Where was she? She frowned and winced at the pain that lanced through her face. What the hell was going on? She clapped a hand to her face and felt abrasions. "Shepard, you're not completely healed yet but we don't have time. Get to the locker." Healed? Was she injured? She struggled to remember as she pushed herself up. "Get to the locker." She wished the person, whoever it was, would shut up and let her think. The sounds of a battle going on nearby should get her moving, she knew she had to move because she was obviously not armed nor in her hardsuit. But for some reason, she felt removed from the immediate situation. It was like working through thick mud as she tried to orient herself and assemble her thoughts. "There's no time to think," the voice said. The unknown person obviously knew she was having trouble. "You have to get out. The locker has everything you need." Damn it. She knew the voice was right. She dropped to the floor, feeling the stiffness in her body, and saw the locker immediately. She opened it. Inside the locker was a undersuit and a hardsuit of a make she had never seen before. Would they even fit her? But she wouldn't be directed to them if they didn't. She stripped off the shipsuit she was dressed in, noting the colours and logo were not Alliance, and pulled on the undersuit. It fit. The hardsuit had that factory stink of newness but it fit her snugly. The familiar N7 insignia was emblazoned above the flat chest piece and the sight of it settled her somewhat. She left the helmet half-visored; she wasn't too fond of breathing in the fumes of factory press. She checked the pistol racked on the door. "You've to be kidding me," she muttered when she pressed the trigger. Nothing happened. She looked up at the ceiling. "It doesn't work." "You'll find thermal clips in the weapons locker outside. Get moving." "Wake up, get dressed, get moving. Yes, sir, whoever you are," Shepard muttered as she began to move towards the door she could see. She felt sluggish and heavy. How long was she out? Where was she? The door opened. She peered around the corner. Empty. It looked like a medical facility. A short flight of stairs led to the lower floor. It didn't look too far below so she vaulted over the railing. Her legs threatened to buckle when she landed but she braced herself against the wall. "Watch out!" the voice warned. She ducked behind a table as a security mech marched down the stairs at the other end of the room. It had seen her. Great. She couldn't shoot, so what was left? Damn it Shepard, wake up. You're a biotic. She flexed her fingers as the sound of the mech came nearer. The voice was silent, as if waiting to see what she would do. Shit, is this a test? She popped up and cast a biotic throw, praying that she hadn't lose any of her abilities. The mech received the blast full on the chest and flew across the room. Shepard watched it crumpled to the floor with satisfaction. "Weapons locker on your left." To her surprise, it wasn't locked. Maybe whoever it was unlocked at her end? There were no other weapons except thermal clips. Perhaps the medical personnel had taken them to defend themselves. She put in a thermal clip. With a working pistol, she felt better. She grabbed as many thermal clips as she could clip to her belt before exiting the room.

I forgot how much I really did miss this game, warts and all. My only real bitch at this point is that the music for the planet exploration tends to be really quiet, with the sound effects very high. I'm dealing with it though. Daily log of events: --Did the personal quest. I love it, because that story doesn't need the ME setting to ring true. --Knocked out just about all of the Citadel quests. The drug addict isn't until just before Virmire. --Chuckled at the Citadel AI quest and the element of foreshadowing. Yes, I shot the tube. --Killed a couple of Thresher Maws. --Grabbed Liara. And I still feel like she's Shep's little sister. No, I'm not doing her romance. --Got Tali and Garrus geared up. They are my go-to group for exploring planets. They both have Decryption and Electronics and I usually bring Garrus along. --Finally got pistols maxed, working on assault rifles. --Actually found some decent Phoenix III armor for Tali. Quarian armor is rather expensive to say the least. Pink isn't really her color, but oh well. --Got a trophy for picking a lot of investigate options. Got some more for just playing the game. Current Virmire Deadpool: After some careful consideration, Ashley. Frankly, I'm going to need another biotic come ME3 over another solider. Javik is a decent middle ground and Vega is pretty solid. If I was going Infiltrator or a biotic class, Kaidan would go. I like both characters equally, so my decision comes down to pure pragmatism. Next up: --Hitting different systems for surveying planets. --More planet exploration for giggles. The Mako isn't nearly as bad on the PS3 as it is on the PC. --Doing some of the accumulating sidequests in my journal. --Praying for a decent price from the damn hanar merchant. Or a decent gun from the Spectre shop that won't break the bank.

Repost from The Bioware Forum: I know I'm skipping away from Jillian from ME1. I decided to finish of an ME2 playthrough and import that character for a second round. Jonathan Shepard, Spacer, War Hero, Soldier. 0. Normandy SR-1 is attacked by a strange ship. Tears it apart. I had to force Kaidan to leave the damn ship while I got Joker out of the cockpit. I convinced Joker that dying for the ship was a bad idea. Unfortunately, I didn't make it to an escape pod. It really sucked dying in space as the air ran out. 1. Woke up in a strange place. Nothing new with a spacer background. A woman's voice directed me to a gun, I fought crazy mechs on my way through a strange facility with the help up Jacob Taylor, saved some dude named Wilson from bleeding out, watched him yet shot by the "voice", Miranda Lawson, meaning I wasted good medi-gel on Wilson. 2. Chatted with the Illusive Man. It didn't go well. He's the jerk who founded the pro-human terrorist organization called Cerberus. But I'll check out Freedom's Progress anyway. 3. The colony is void of all humans. Found some quarians, including the lovely Tali'Zorah nar Rayya. She doesn't like Cerberus. She's looking for Veetor'Nara, a quarian who was on Freedom's Progress for his pilgrimage. After fighting more crazy mechs, I found Veetor. He mentioned the Collectors abducted all the humans. Tali gave me Veetor's omnitool to bring the data back to Cerberus but she wouldn't come with. 4. Still don't trust the Illusive Man, especially when my entire crew is conveniently unavailable. Yeah. I've been dead or in a coma for two years but come on! I felt a little less bad when Joker showed up. Even better when the Normandy SR-2 was given to us. Then I was off with Miranda, Jacob, Yeoman Kelly Chambers and a few others. All strangers. That Taylor is ex-Alliance doesn't help. Most of those guys are CAT-6 and end up as dirty mercs. Given my history with the geth, I'm also not excited about an AI called EDI being integrated with the ship's systems. For now, I only trust Joker. 5. My quarters have a fish tank (currently empty), a large bed, a stereo system, and a picture of Kaidan Alenko on the desk. That last one was disturbing. I know the crew of the SR-1 gossiped about everything (you couldn't flirt without being accused of screwing someone) but how did Cerberus find out about this one?

Miriam Shepard took Cerberus down, or so she thought.
It started in the Kepler Verge, where she, Tali and Ashley were investigating the disappearance of Dr Wayne; turned out that he'd been involved with Cerberus, running illegal and unethical experiments on kidnapped Alliance marines. This was Shepard's first encounter with Cerberus and she did not like what she was seeing. At least she managed to talk Corporal Toombs down from executing Dr Wayne, so the scientist can be put on trial.
Disgusted what she was discovering about Cerberus, Shepard ordered Joker to make best speed to Binthu in the Voyager Cluster, following up on a lead from Admiral Kahoku. The three facilities on the planet seemed rather too heavily defended to be mere research centres; Shepard, Tali and Kaidan met heavy resistance when they stormed the buildings, including from biotics. (Aren't we glad that enemy biotics with Throw didn't make it into ME2/ME3...)
Discovering that Kahoku himself had been a victim of Cerberus' experimentation, Shepard obtained the location of their central facility from the research base' intranet and ordered the Normandy to Nepheron in the Voyager Cluster. Cerberus had clearly been overconfident, as their base on the planet was not as heavily defended as Shepard feared; it was a simple matter to clear the Cerberus troops out of the place and shut the facility down. A somewhat anticlimactic end to the mission, actually.
Their experiments had been abominable, but in the grand scheme of things, Cerberus seemed like a fairly small, somewhat amateurish operation. How deceptive appearances can be...
In other news, Shepard convinced Helena Blake to get out of the organized crime business, and also turned down the advances of both Kaidan and Liara, preferring to keep her relationships professional.
