I'm struggling with my ME2 Engineer, not in terms of gameplay, but just in keeping my interest. I might be too in love with other classes. Sentinels are fun for their access to tech+biotics and their incredible resilience. If I had to play a single class across the trilogy, it would generally be Sentinel. (Two of my favorite builds in Andromeda are also Sentinels.) Soldiers are the OP class that crushes the game, but also have a certain charm for being "simply a guy with guns" (and gene therapy and a thousand cybernetic implants). Vanguard is maybe my favorite ME2 class because it has the fun ammo powers of the Soldier plus biotics (Charge and Reave, for me). They're relatively fragile in the early game, and Charging requires tactical discipline. (That's true for Insanity, at least). I always add Assault Rifles (Mattock) while still mixing in all the other weapon types. It's a very rounded experience. It could be that I need to be playing Adept. They're a different beast in ME2, very tactical with little flash, but I love biotics. 🤷🏻♂️ Maybe I'll stick it out a bit longer. I haven't even left Omega, yet. I still need to go get Archangel. After that, I'll upgrade our weapons significantly by grabbing the Incisor for my squad and the Locust for my Engineer. For me, adding the Locust to a pistols & SMG Shepard is big improvement. Engineer is my least favorite class in ME2 (For context, I find all the ME2 classes respectable). You're too early in the game to see it at its full potential. Engineer is boring if you play it as a defense stripper; crowd-control focus is the way to go. Typically for a crowd-control Engineer Dominate would be chosen as a bonus power. I haven't tried out a Slam Engineer yet, which I've been meaning to. That would represent an offensive/crowd control mix depending on how its handled.
A couple of further observations I've made playing as an Engineer:
1. The apparent usefulness of Combat Drone diminished as I progressed in the game. Once my other crowd control abilities improved, along with squadmate powers, using the Drone seemed like a pointless aside with the exception of mini-boss type enemies (largely).
2. I gathered that it's the class most dependent on the particularities of level design and enemy layout for enjoyability.
Adept is at the top of the roster for me in ME2. If you haven't played it in a while and continue to be bored with your Engineer, I'd pick it. And if you find it to be lacking in spectacle, make sure you level Throw quickly and at the expense of Pull. This goes against popular advice that suggests leveling Throw last out of the Adept's main abilities (Shockwave is out of the picture in most builds, so not counting that). I really don't understand this line of thought since you already have Singularity, and Pull functions as a one-point wonder, whereas Throw does not. Leveling Throw early will ensure you're able to toss enemies out of the map more often. Picking Miranda and Thane as squadmates is good for spectacle since they both have Warp, as do you.

Karen Shepard (Sentinel, ME3LE): 1. Tried to recover an artifact from a Thessian temple. Kai Lame lucked his way into stealing it. (I am never going to stop calling him Kai Lame.)
2. Tracked Kai Lame to Sanctuary. Discovered a hidden Cerberus Lab, but no Kai. Miranda threw her father out of a window.
3. Rescued a damsel in distress from a Communications Hub.
4. Upgrade a bunch of weapons in case I play NG+ in the future.
5. Met with crewmates on the Silver Sun strip, and threw a party.
6. Spent the night(? it's space, it's always night) with Liara. Attacked Cerberus Headquarters, and recovered the Catalyst. Beat the piss out of Kai Lame and then stabbed him to death.
7. Went to Earth with the Galaxy fleet. Destroyed a giant cannon.

I like all classes in ME2, although the ME2 Engineer is my favorite. I know some people on this forum really love the Soldier, while others think the Soldier is boring (too much shooty shooty). I haven't tried out a Slam Engineer yet, which I've been meaning to. That would represent an offensive/crowd control mix depending on how its handled. Engineer is quite flexible in ME2. Defense stripping is where most players gravitate towards. Mordin pairs really well with this type of Engineer, since Mordin's rank 4 Cryo Blast gets a 4.5-second cooldown, which meshes really well with the Engineer's Overload and Incinerate with +20% cooldown from rank 4 Tech Mastery (Destroyer/Mechanic). Add Reave (or swap Incinerate for Reave) to strip all defenses. Focusing more on crowd control can also be fun. Slam is a fun bonus power to pair with Miranda/Thane for Warp bombs and Full Cryo Blast for unprotected groups. I have some examples in this playlist: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJjws92UJ3EJfE5cIMT4mZyFfNvL7Qk3L

I had thos eCerbreus Guardian' s in ME3 scrambling as they didn' tknow what to target. Especiall ywith th e turre tin ME3 as well. It worked so well. Helped me ge taroun dtheir shields perfectly which was useful in the Omega DLC Plan on doing a Soldier on my next run later. After that I'll lprobably do anothe rbiotic character. Must admit I had a lot of fun doing that in tha tplaythrough. Haven't played a soldier on th eremaster ye tas I wasn't sue rhow much I' denjo yi twith th echanges or whether i twould feel a sunique as the othe rclasses. It was one of m yfavourite classes on th eoriginals but I guess I'll see when I play. But yeash I lik eplaying Sentinels in Andromeda no ts omuch in the trilogy but in Andromeda Sentinels work reall ywell. But I think with Andromeda i thelps as yo uhave moer freedom over wha tpowers to use whereas in the trilogy your locked to what powers the games give you.

I think ME2 is the problem more so than the Engineer. For some reason, I just don't seem to be in the mood for it. I probably need to replay the full trilogy, to invest, since it's been months since this Shep finished ME1. I started a ME3 Engineer (ME2 import, Fortification) and immediately had more fun. The super fast cooldowns change gameplay so much. Ash was alive in this import, so Mars was a constant series of fire and tech detonations, with Liara occasionally detonating her own Singularity. A single point in Drone and Turret was fine to start. I'll have to read up on the Drone and Turret evolutions, or watch one of RedCaesar97's YouTube vids 😉, since I've never played a ME3 Engineer. I won't actually use Fortitude until it's fully evolved. I've always enjoyed its visuals and mechanics in ME3. While I definitely had a bias toward Biotics, Andromeda cured me of that. Many of the powers that bring me the most fun are tech powers. I particularly enjoy Assault Turret in MEA, so playing an Engineer in MET is long overdue.

Drone and Turret use are okay when interspersed occasionally between your offensive casting abilities (Sabotage, Overload, Incinerate). They're inadequate on their own. You can do a construct-based playthrough with Defense Drone as a bonus power, similar to what Redcaesar has up on his channel, but it amounts to artificially slowing the pace of gameplay to give the relatively weak constructs a window of opportunity to chip away at enemy health. They'll often be destroyed before they're even able to put much of a dent in enemy defenses, or you'll have to step in and give them a helping hand so that they don't die off quickly/ to avoid making the gameplay unbearably sluggish. Red acknowledges that the construct-based Engineer sucks on his channel, but he tries out a variety of builds to show them off.

There's a high probability that I jump back to ME1 before long. I generally enjoy ME3's gameplay the most, but if I don't get invested I probably won't play anything for very long.

I'll have to read up on the Drone and Turret evolutions, since I've never played a ME3 Engineer. I don't have the patience to use a drone-focused build. I like killing everything as efficiently as possible, and I love combo detonations. I just need to read up on the Drones, see if there are any evolutions that don't work as advertised, etc... For combo detonations, just focus on using Sabotage, Overload, and Incinerate. My usual evolutions: - Sabotage: Backfire, Explosive Hack, Tech Vulnerability - Overload: Damage, Neural Shock, Shield Damage - Incinerate: Damage, Burning Damage, Armor Damage Note that you can go chain Overload or area incinerate if you prefer, but I find that you want/need the extra damage and the combos will do most of the control and damage for you anyway. Basically, Sabotage should be your combo starter on everyone. It primes tech bursts (electrical combos). Sabotage > Overload cannot be dodged. You can alternate Overload and Incinerate to alternate fire and electrical explosions on the tougher enemies, so starting with Sabotage > Incinerate > Overload (and then alternating Incinerate and Overload if they are still alive) should be your go-to method for dealing with these tougher enemies. Video examples:
Stack up on power damage for armor since Engineer really relies on power damage. You can also add power damage from Intel bonuses, and Fortification rank 5 adds power damage. For drone and turret, you can get away with a 1-point drone early to get Cerberus Guardians to turn around. After you get a piercing mod on your preferred weapon, drone will not be needed. Combat Drone and Sentry Turret evolutions work as advertised, but they are kind of bad since they just do not do as much distracting, crowd-control, or damage as you want. Sabotage can stagger some of those same enemies anyways.

Karen Shepard (Sentinel, ME3LE): 1. Talked with everyone before the final assault. Took a stroll through London and killed a Reaper Destroyer with missiles.
2. Tanked a laser shot from Harbinger. Took an elevator ride to the Citadel. Had a brief chat with TIM before shooting him.
3. Some glowing thing talked my ear off before letting me go so I could shoot a big red thing. Reapers destroyed (supposedly).
4. Ending cutscenes. Slideshow. Credits. Exit game.
One more Legendary Edition trilogy playthrough to finish: Alex the Asshole Adept, waiting for import into ME3.
One more original trilogy playthrough to finish, waiting for import into MNE3. I think this was a shotgun/Claymore Soldier in ME2 but I cannot remember offhand. I cannot remember anything about this character; I would need to check before doing anything with it.
I have a few other characters I would like to create, but that would be in the future. I want to finish the other characters first. I might get to Alex soon/next, before the end of March. I think Dragons Dogma 2 is coming out before the end of March.

RedCaesar97, I think you just reminded me why I have never played an Engineer in ME3. The Drones are the unique draw, for me, and they just don't keep pace. I now recall reading that years ago. You also reminded me of a Caster-Infiltrator I played years ago. Sabotage was my frequent opener with him/her. Sabotage also always makes me wish that Cerberus deployed more turrets. (I'm still kind of itching to play my Indra Infiltrator once more. I don't love slow-firing SRs in the CQC of the MET, but I do love using the Indra.) I can chain all the combos I want with squaddies and Shepard of any class. I still think ME3's combo mechanics are some of the best gameplay mechanics in any game. In my opinion, MEA made them a bit too accessible, while ME3 got it just right. Either way, combo detonations are what sets ME gameplay apart.

I still think ME3's combo mechanics are some of the best gameplay mechanics in any game. In my opinion, MEA made them a bit to accessible, while ME3 got it just right. ME3 and MEA have the most fun combo system. I think that DA2 combos are the most complex. Anthem has sick combos if you have squad with different Javelins. Since Jade Empire, every Bioware game have combo system in some way. ME1 has only Lift-Throw on low gravity worlds, if you can call that combo; maybe in most basic way.

- Landed on Omega and was told to go see the queen. Picked up Zaeed first. Then got information about Dr. Solus and checked out the kiosks afterwards (priorities!). Helped a quarian in the process by threatening Harrot first and then paying his way off the station. - Entered the quarantine zone and saved a few people along the way to the clinic. Met an intriguing salarian, rescued his assistant Daniel and dispersed a cure for the plague afterwards. Welcomed Mordin aboard the Normandy. - Headed back to Omega to recruit Archangel and prevented a kid from joining the mercs on the way. Met all the merc band bosses and took them down later with the help of Archangel, who to Shepard's joy turned out to be his friend Garrus. - Dealt with unfinished business on Omega like handing over a data pad to Aria and becoming a krantt to Patriarch, bumped into Helena Blake and Fist along the way. Got poisoned by a batarian bartender afterwards and let's just say he paid for that. - Visited the SR-1 crash site and put up a monument to honour the fallen, reminiscing about Ash. She was still missed, as was everyone from his old crew, even though he did like his new crew as well. It just wasn't the same. - Shepard felt in his gut he'd level up soon, so he did two more tiny missions to get to Lv. 12! (I LOATHE the merchant freighter mission. Where there's cover, but it's low cover and sometimes you stand behind it instead of crouching, so everything shoots you dead ) - Traveled to Korlus to pick up Dr. Okeer, killed lots of mercs on the way and they killed Shepard quite some times, but thankfully he has more lives than a cat. Met Rana again and she was scared Shepard would cause some more explosions, so she ran. Again. Okeer unfortunately died at the end, but he did so protecting his legacy, a tank-bred krogan. Shepard took him aboard the Normandy and was curious to open the tank soon. But first he returned to his cabin to see all fish had died. Whoops. But not to fret, Operation: Flirting with Kelly is already underway. Rorik clutched at his chest and dropped to the floor. Miranda was about to draw her weapon, but quickly joined Jack instead, both hovering over the commander. "Shepard? Shepard, can you hear me?!" Her eyes darted over to Jack's, a hint of helplessness on her usually a bit more icy facade. "What's up, precious, worried he might die?" Jack teased the Cerberus operative, who scoffed in response. "Shut up and help me get him out of here", Miranda hissed at the tattooed biotic and Jack rolled her eyes, shrugging. "He'll be fine", Jack gauged while she and Miranda carried Rorik to the back alley. Miranda kneeled over the passed out man, shaking him gently. Jack stood next to them, arms crossed, flippantly suggesting she had better ideas on how to wake him as she held up her biotically glowing fist. Miranda glared at her when Rorik stirred and opened his eyes. "Shepard, are you all right?" Miranda asked, a trace of worry in her voice. "Ugh. How much did I drink?" Rorik fought the urge to throw up and struggled on his feet before learning he was poisoned. He headed off in the direction of the bar, ready to have a word with this asshole, Jack and Miranda following suit.Pics: Sooo, Miri and Jack it is! Having a blast so far with these two, which also inspired me to write this stupid little entry So far I have Area Overload and Incineration Blast, can't wait to fully upgrade the drone, but it'll be a while I think, since I want to focus on the passive a bit more.

Alex the Asshole Adept (ME3LE): 1. Reapers attacked Earth. Alex wanted to stay and fight, but got ordered by Anderson to leave and go the Council. Alex left Earth to fend for itself, then got ordered by Hackett to go to Mars and recover some Prothean data. He got the data, along with a slightly-damaged shuttle (thank James), a damaged robot, and Liara.
2. The Council refused to help (no surprise). So he took out his frustrations by sparring with James. They both got bloodied. Also recruited Dr. Michel to the Normandy.
3. Returned to Eden Prime to recover a different Prothean artifact. (Must resist urge to call Javik a popsicle for the umpteenth time in this thread).
4. Went to Palaven and picked up the latest Turian Primarch. Also Garrus, but who cares about him?
5. Citadel crap. Scanning crap. Recovered some Reaper tech from a Cerberus lab.
6. Rescued some students from Grissom Academy and reunited with Jack.

I started ME3. There is a post I made about the paragon interrupts in the broker dlc. I posted what a renegade Shepard, what my Shepard would have done, said. After fighting Vasir, there is 3 paragon interrupts. Why couldn't there be 3 renegade interrupts?
renegade interrupt #1 Shepard: Before anything else happens, how about answering a couple of questions? Did you tell anyone or at least make any effort to tell anyone Cerberus had my body? Liara: I...I....don't know.........
renegade interrupt #2 Shepard: Why do you have my armor in your apartment on display like its some kind of prize? Liara: That's.....I.......I....
renegade interrupt #3 Shepard: If you can't answer my questions, I'm leaving. Liara: Shepard....I...can't... Shepard: That's what I thought. You're suffering from cat-got-your-tongue syndrome. While you go see a doctor about that, I will be heading back to my ship. One last thing. I don't ever want to see you again. Understand?
If Shepard is romancing Liara, he/she ends the relationship right there. In ME3, what could happen is Liara doesn't show up after the first two dreams and there is no scene about the time capsule. She also doesn't offer the gift at the FOB. The same could happen for a Shepard that didn't romance her. I will do the same for some of the dialogue in ME3. I believe the game would have been a lot better with some, make that a lot, of renegade interrupts. Shepard? HELP YOU? **** YOU ANDERSON. Remember what you said when I was dealing with the collectors? It's up to me to find a way to stop the reapers. Anderson: SHEPARD!!! HOW DARE Y--- Shepard: Shutup dirtbag. You and the circus, I mean the Alliance, turned your back on me. Turned your back on humanity. Look what you did for the last 2 years I was gone. All you did was take the shape of your chair. Now you and the circus have me locked up for 6 months instead of having me find ways to stop the reapers. And don't give any crap about playing nice with the Batarians. Anderson: There's no need for that. Right now the committee wants to talk to you. After this is over, you and I need to talk. Shepard: Whatever. Shepard: (stands looking at them without saying a word) committee: Shepard? Do you have something to say? Shepard: Before I answer your stupid comment, I have to ask how you clowns got your job? I know you guys are one of the top buyers at kneepad.com. (Shepard gives a sadistic smile) committee: WHAT?!!!! I'll have you know I earn---- Shepard: I don't care dumba**. You know I've been locked up for the last six months, right? How would I know what the situation is? Why didn't you show any interest during the last six months? Hmmm.....Is it because the situation effects you as well? It seems that's the only time you do something. You're more interested in your cushy job. In the two years I was gone after stopping Saren, and now the last six months, the Alliance hasn't done a ****ing thing. I'm going to stop the reapers. I'm not going to do it for you. I'm going to do it for the people you failed to protect. I remember a thread on the old forum asking why the kid would say that?

- Was sent to Horizon by the boss, and at least prevented half the colonists from being abducted by kicking some Collector ass. Kaidan was also there, but it didn't end very well. It would also not end well for the Illusive Man if he continued to use Shepard's closest friends to lure in the Collectors. - Everyone wanted taken care of their personal problems, but Shepard really wanted a shiny Shotgun, so he did a couple side missions involving that blasted Hammerhead and a creaky shipwreck before being sent into Collector hands by the boss again. Shepard learned that the Collectors were once Protheans and that his squadmates are greedy because they ate all his medi-gel, and that they are not keen on following his position orders. Well, the girls do have their own preferences, mainly running up to a Praetorian to be killed by its stompy attack. Such fun! Yelled some more at the Illusive Man afterwards, always satisfying. - After all the stress, Shepard had dinner with Kelly, then got sidetracked as another Level up was within reach. Had a nice long walk with a YMIR through a canyon, protected the Sinmara colony, rid an archeological dig site of the Blue Suns and became a Demolisher afterwards. - Went to look for Jacob's dad in hope they could be reunited for a happy end, but everything turned out differently. Shepard got so angry at what Jacob's father did to his crew that he did not even consider arresting him. They left him in the mess he created. A proper outcome for a proper scumbag. Shepard was just glad he could rescue the surviving crew, hoping they could have a normal life again someday. - Headed to an Eclipse base to rescue a Cerberus operative, only he was dead and Shepard sent data on Cerberus to the Alliance. Rid a freighter and a mining facility of Blue Suns. - Touched down on Tuchanka to deal with Grunt's aggressive behaviour. Bumped into his old friend Wrex, head-butted an asshole and ended up fighting a Thresher Maw on foot. Never a dull moment. - Helped Mordin find his protegé Maelon, only he didn't need rescuing. He worked on a cure for the genophage and Shepard liked the idea of a salarian wanting to help the krogan, but not like this. Kept Mordin from shooting Maelon and kept the cure, encouraging Mordin to use it for helping the krogan. Seeing how Mordin apparently struggled with what he had done, chances weren't so bad. "Hey buddy, don't you worry, I'll be back in a minute", the blond man crouching in front of the varren said. He scratched the tame beast thoroughly and chuckled at its affectionate rubbing against his hands. Rorik briefly looked up to Miranda, a wide smile on his lips, his blue eyes beaming with joy. "Isn't he adorable?" Seeing the commander like this conjured a gentle smile on Miranda's face. He had this youthful, playful aura around him that was hard to resist. The more time she spent with him, the more she liked what she saw. But this was hardly the time for such foolishness. They had important things to do. "Sure", the biotic woman replied softly before continuing with a firmer voice. "But don't forget we have more urgent business here. Let's get Mordin and get it over with. I feel like I need a shower already." Rorik sighed and got back on his feet, giving Urz a last pat on the head before looking at Miranda. "I know, sorry. Let's go."Pics: I raged SO hard. Horizon was a piece of cake surprisingly (still kept me on my toes though!) in comparison to what went down on the Collector Ship I hate that mission so much, so so much (which is in large part due to Collector BS and dumb squadmates ). At least I got the Shotgun now And slowly getting the hang of it more or less. Always takes some time getting used to. Heading to Illium next to get Miri's LM out of the way and advance the romance soonish, mahaha.

Alex the Asshole Adept (ME3LE): 1. Helped Aria retake Omega. (I wanted to stop Aria from choking Petrovsky and then shoot him myself, but apparently the option to shoot him is not available to complete Renegades. So I reloaded and let Aria kill him.)
2. Searched for Dr. Garneau. Found his body and another artifact.
3. Tracked down the next lead for Leviation: Ann Bryson. Rescued Ann Bryson from a dig site.
4. Used Ann Bryson to locate Leviathan. Ann died in the process, or fell into a coma or something. Who really cares. Found Leviathans (there was more than one), and bullied them into joining the war.

I picked up my ME2 Engineer playthrough. Whatever mental hurdle was slowing me seems to have lifted, because I enjoyed it just fine, today.
We finished Mordin's recruitment and then recruited Archangel, as well. Finishing up on Omega, we headed to the Citadel. Some shopping, getting reinstated as a SPECTRE, and a few encounters later, we are headed to Bekenstein. I want to get the Locust ASAP. It will be my primary weapon until I later get access to Assault Rifles.
I love how most Alliance-named planets bear the names of physicists of the 20th (and early 21st) centuries. Some are still around, and some have died in the years since the MET was completed. Our present understanding of the universe is still largely the understanding they brought us. It's always pleasing to see them enshrined in this SciFi Milky Way. It both makes me think of them, and makes the game feel like it really is happening in our galactic backyard. Maybe someday our descendants will name alien worlds after those who helped get them there.

Williams:It's hard to believe that with Cerberus showing up here. Shepard: Pull your head out your a** Ashley. I've been locked up for the last six months because of the Alliance, you know? The one's you worship. Williams:How can you say that? Shepard: It's easy. Remember what you said on Horizon? You also turned stupid when the word Cerberus was mentioned not accepting it was the collectors abducting the colonists. One more thing? Why didn't you visit me the last 6 months? Williams: Ummm....Can we talk about this another time? Shepard: Why would Hackett contact you? What can you do that the government of Earth, or any species government, can't do? T'soni: Well....I have contacts, resources I could use to find a way to stop the reapers. Shepard: Really? What's the point of having any contacts and resources each species has when there's you? T'soni: Then you might want to ask Hackett the next time you talk with him. Shepard: What? You're not telling me that when it's obvious. Are you trying to be something you're not again? T'soni: I was only trying to help Shepard: Next time don't. The enemy might hear your voice TIM: You're kidding? Do you know how hard I had to work to earn my resources? Knowing you, you would use it for a galaxy wide party before being harvested. Shepard: You're wrong. I want to destroy the reapers. TIM: This conversation is over.
