I have a GTX 970. I figure if the PS4 can handle the game my card should be able too. Haven't really played anything but SWTOR recently so I'm not sure where I stand when it comes to newer games. I can play that on Ultra at 120fps, but that's not exactly a graphically intensive game. Looks like PS4 is about a GTX 660. So I guess I'm good.

PS4 games look nice. Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, BF1, Witcher 3 and even ME:A (minus the human models which look like Thunderbirds puppets). I'll probably get one. It's that or the Switch. But the Switch just isn't worth it. I want to play the new Zelda, but that's the only game I'm really interested in and $348 for one game is iffy.

As an AMD chip, it is comparable to the R7 260X and 265, which are about the same level as the Gtx 660. But there is more, even the PS4 Pro is in all likelihood inferior to your Gtx 970 as well. The PS4 Pro uses a downclocked Polaris 10 - the same GPU AMD uses in the RX 470 and 480, but at lower speeds, since cooling and power in the PS4 Pro case is quite limited. The Gtx 970 will run ME:A at 1080p 60 fps without a doubt. It might not run the settings maxed out (it should, but I doubt Bioware can do a good job optimizing the game), but it will run better than any console.

1800p. Checkerboard rendering. Likely the fps won't be that great though. I'll take pc 1080p 60fps (or in my case 144fps) over the PS4 pro version any day of the year.

Since it's not a native 4k image, and it uses a specially-designed rendering process, it should hold 30fps with infrequent dips into the mid-20s during gameplay. Not acceptable by most standards, but also not unplayable unless you're already used to 60fps+ (which the vast majority of console players aren't).

Here is something interesting.
Bethesda's Fallout 4 High Resolution Texture pack, surprise, surprise, comes in at 58GB... and this is on top of the base game. Definitely a shocker for those people thinking about 4K video gaming. Those with an internet cap (me) and/ or those with a small size SSD drive are in a world of pain ( that's me again).
ME:A at high texture resolutions will be costly in one form or another.

Amusingly, their blog post initially listed an 8GB RX 490 when it first went up. Probably an error, but it put a lot of wind back in the sails of the rumor mill. Since it's not a native 4k image, and it uses a specially-designed rendering process, it should hold 30fps with infrequent dips into the mid-20s during gameplay. True, but Bioware has a horrible track record when it comes to optimizing games for Playstation systems

That's less Bioware and more Unreal Engine 3 not being optimized for the PS3 due to the cell processor's weird ass instructions and configurations. It's why a lot of games stuck with unreal 2.5 rather than going UE3 for multiplats.

Ah yes, Bethesda, truly the masters of optimizing PC games. Well, Doom 2016 is one hell of an optimized game, particularly when running on Vulkan.

I'm just hoping that my Gigabyte GTX 970, i7-4790k(4 GHz) and 16 GB of RAM are enough to run this game on Very High 60 FPS. I know that for DAI, I had most of the sliders up to max, with just a few trimmed down that were sucking up performance. That allowed me to get around 50 FPS consistently, sometimes higher. If the 970 had 6 GB of VRAM, then I wouldn't be worried, but alas, I must be content with 4 GB (3.5 for the nit pickers ) I'm basically planning to hold on to the 970 so long as I use my 1080p monitor. Hope MEA doesn't force a change of plans, but like everyone else is saying, Battlefield 1 is basically the best benchmark available.

Actually... we 3 have almost same systems. Only difference is that I got 8 GB, 256 GB SSD and my 970 is from MSi. So, if we all get different results... it is gonna be odd.

Marketing shifts changing towards streaming and video production in the gaming community. Very heavy presence. 4K may be a gimmick but HDR most certainly isn't when it's implemented correctly (HDR is, IMO, the biggest thing that we've been getting out of the whole "4K everything!" push these manufacturers are going with). Regardless of how they're doing 4K, HDR in The Last Guardian, Ratchet & Clank and Infamous looks absolutely fantastic. It's a shame that manufacturers are tying HDR to 4K (HDR isn't about resolution but the panels in the TV itself). I'll still play ME:A on my PC at 1440p/60 FPS, but eventually I'll grab it on PS4 to see how well they did with HDR.

Hopefully Nvidia gets their crap together before HDR monitors become mainstream or many will buy them and see no difference (besides placebo). Connect a monitor using HDMI or Displayport and their silly software/drivers still default to limited colour range (RGB 16-235 instead of "full" (RGB 0-255). Just the thought of how many people are unknowingly playing with this washed out limited colour range...

Yup! Samsung 250 GB SSD and a 1 TB Seagate hard drive. Installing MEA on the SSD for the super fast load times. DAI would always load a map in under 30 seconds, usually less. Gotta love SSD's

But man, is it fast! over 2.5 GB/s Reading and 1.56 Writing with nearly 100 000 IOPS of 4K Random Write performance. That's more than twice as fast as what I was getting with my older EVO 850 SSD. And the form factor is such a space-saver. If you have the money and the Board to fit it- I would highly recommend the Samsung M.2 drives.
