PC System Requirements speculation

yeah, people were complaining about the load times and I'm sitting here with 840 pros in raid 0 like "honestly I wish it was slower so I could actually read the shit on the loading screens"

I think this is the closest thing this forum has to a dedicated PC hardware thread, so I'm gonna post this in case anyone is looking at upgrading or building a new PC soon. AMD confirms its Ryzen CPU will launch in early March, followed by the Vega GPU. Vega cards will start shipping at an undisclosed point during Q2, according to this article.

You should have absolutely no problems running ME:A.

Out of curiosity, are you playing ME:A on PC or console?
From what I remember seeing of you on BSN, I had the impression you were a console player.

I'm going to be playing it on console to start with, and if I like the game enough, I'll pick it up for PC as well later on down the road. Even though my current system should be able to handle ME:A at 1080p (although probably not Ultra), I'm planning on building a new system sometime around April/May depending on how things go with Ryzen and Vega.

I've always been of the mind that if your pc case isn't big and obnoxious then what are you even doing.

Small cases scare me for heat *shrugs*

Currently using a HAF-XB cube, but I'd like to get my old Cosmos 2 (my first self build) back up with my next build.

Think I'll go Ryzen, but maybe wait another year.

Took this from Battlefield 1 to see how I would fair in ME:A. I think an upgrade isn't needed, but it could come in handy. My biggest concern about VRAM is prolly most likely not going to be a major issue, but it could if the devs for BW don't do well with resources. I saw the VRAM use go all the way up to 3.5 GB, just a shade below what my GPUs max at which is 4 GB VRAM.

Here's a FPS benchmark for Battlefield 1 max settings @1440p. Keep in mind that I had GeForce Experience, Fraps and Rivatuner all active at the same time so actual framerates are prolly a bit above this, I'd guess about 5.

[Edit] I had the wrong game benchmarked. BF1 did better than I could have dreamed, honestly. I had to double check to make sure it was at 1440p and the settings maxed for me to believe it.

You're fine. Frostbite games are well optimized to begin with, and if you can run Inquisition, it's unlikely Andromeda would need anything more than you turning down shadows.

And that's not bad, because most people end up having to turn down shadows; shadows are costly.

Witcher 3 is seemingly more graphical intensive than anything we've seen of Andromeda so far.

Not to mention, not all engines are created equal and not all games and engines undergo the same amount of optimizations, so it's not a direct parallel. Comparing MEA to Battlefield and Dragon Age makes more sense as they all run on the same engine.
