Witcher 3 is seemingly more graphical intensive than anything we've seen of Andromeda so far. Not to mention, not all engines are created equal and not all games and engines undergo the same amount of optimizations, so it's not a direct parallel. Comparing MEA to Battlefield and Dragon Age makes more sense as they all run on the same engine. What are your PC specs? Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz Video Card AMD Radeon R9 200 Series Video Card #2 Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 RAM 8.0 GB Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit and thank you so much for answering. appreciate it:) You're welcome. Do you know the specific model of your graphics card; the Windows driver spec thing doesn't provide enough info. Or if it was a prebuilt, do you know the specific model? I mean, I already know you're pretty much set, I'm just being 100%.

Haven't read through the thread yet, but did they tell us when we can expect pc specs? I would like to build my new gaming pc at least a week before the game comes out.

This was Battlefield 1's required specs. Would imagine they will be similar if not identical. Tho I'm betting older gen i5's work aswell Edit - There's battlefield benchmarks with 2500k's , so thats a good sign

Tho I'm betting older gen i5's work aswell Probably. Intel has largely moved away from improving single-core performance in the last few years, choosing instead to focus on multi-core and clock speeds. Hell, the 7600K only averages about 15% higher than the 3570K for single-core scores in most benchmarks I've seen, and the 3570K is almost five years old.

Kinda makes me wonder if there's some kind of updates with extensions or something that makes them think a newer gen cpu would be preferable. I suppose they could be doing QA on a narrower set of cpu's and focusing on gpu testing instead tho

Tho I'm betting older gen i5's work aswell Edit - There's battlefield benchmarks with 2500k's , so thats a good sign Minimum specs are usually "what are the weakest pieces of equipment that we have on hand to test this crap on" rather than "this is the bare minimum you need to run this game" so the 6600k is well above minimum. The Potato Masher has an older, worse processor and was able to run BF1 just fine.

I remember playing some games on my old PC that i shouldn't be allowed to run according with the minimum requirements.

I was worried cause my computer isn't good enough for the witcher 3 but watch dogs 2, fallout 4 for example are still good- not on the highest settings but still looks and play awesome. No, Andromeda is more graphical intensive than Witcher 3, it uses Frostbite engine, I run TW3 at 60 - 55 FPS on ultra and DAI 40 -50 FPS on high - very high I7 4790 , 16 GB Ram, GTX 970 3GB Vram the Frostbite Engine is way more demanding than RED Engine, and RED Engine is way better optimized

Since July of 2016 when I upgraded from my Haswell 4770 I've been running an X-99 based Intel 6850K, six cores @ 3.6 GHz with 32GB of DDR4@2400MHz from G.SKILL, a Samsung 950 Pro M.2 w/NVMe, a Phoenix SLI Motherboard from Gigabyte and a pair of 4GB GTX980 FTWs in 2-way SLI. I have been wanting the 1080FTW since it was released and last night went and ordered one online because it was at NCIX for well under 800 dollars CDN.....Then at 12:30 a.m. I read about all the overheating issues because of a missing thermal plate and several other malfunctions that were seemingly caused by short-sighted manufacturing. So this morning at 7:30 am I promptly canceled my order. And I have mixed feelings because I bought the 980 FTWs when they were pretty much brand new....paid over 800 for each of the between April of 2015 and March of 2016, and they've been phenomenal cards... so it's sort of a shame to get rid of them so soon. I would like to get at least another two years out of them or even run them until I just can't anymore.
On the other I really just want to make sure that I can run 'Andromeda' at 1440p with the best experience possible. Even though I get an average of 104 FPS in DAI with no tearing or other ill effects and all settings on ULTRA, I am still apprehensive about what they will call for the reqs of ME:A... I know, I know...they'll obviously recommend the 1080s or 1080TI for 4K (and maxed-out ULTRA Settings)...That's a given. But I don't play at that resolution, so I'm hoping that my pair of 980s will be more than adequate along with the rest of my system (which I paid a lot of money for just six months ago), and I don't think that either the 67 or 7700 series CPUs (personally...this is my personal opinion) are anything to write home about.
Considering my configuration...does anyone have any thoughts? Looking at BF1 (which requires a 4790 and I believe a 670) and SW:BF which requires a 6700 and GTX970....(I beat all of those requirements) I am fairly confident that I should be able to run ME:A on at least "HIGH" settings and get an avg of 50 to 60 FPS (given what I get in DAI as I said earlier)....And didn't someone from Bioware tweet earlier...something about being able to run on a GTX 745?
I guess what I'm trying to say is that "the anticipation and speculation is killing me!" All I want to know is the Sys Reqs...Post those and my anxiety and anticipation would be over with.
Anyways, thanks for reading....And I'll see you all in 600 years in 'Andromeda'

"I just wanted to say that I'm in no way envious of that NVMe drive. Not at all. In fact I haven't been drooling on my keyboard. Good day, Sir."
I'd be curious as to why...But, that's okay. Each to his/her own. I didn't post that comment to brag, I was simply trying to point out the considerable upgrade in speed over the 840 or 850, and the space-saving form factor.
But we all have our preferences. I am really happy with my M.2 and I am glad that you are happy with whatever SSD you are running.

You said it already, it's a considerable upgrade over the 850, which is what I have. Didn't mean to imply that you were bragging; I was just being silly. (Though to be honest I currently don't know if Linux plays nicely with NVMe boot drives; and yeah, like vegans, we Linux users have to mention the fact for no good reason.)

"I just wanted to say that I'm in no way envious of that NVMe drive. Not at all. In fact I haven't been drooling on my keyboard. Good day, Sir." I'd be curious as to why...But, that's okay. (Though to be honest I currently don't know if Linux plays nicely with NVMe boot drives; and yeah, like vegans, we Linux users have to mention the fact for no good reason.) Hello again. Thank you for your reply. Now I understand why you said that you weren't keen on the M.2s; I am familiar with Linux in so far as I am aware that it relies on open sourced programming and its functionality is flexible with the many open-sourced types of softwares that can be found. I also have some understanding of how the Linux-based kernels handle file types such as DLLs or EXEs or even flash-based NAND like on the M.2 from Samsung (not unlike a Mac as Macs are Linux based)- But just as you said that is all together vastly different to the DOS-based kernel of Windows and its command line and Linux might not play nicely was Flash-based NAND and NVMe. Even still, I hope you get to enjoy ANDROMEDA. A game like this should not be missed!

I've always been of the mind that if your pc case isn't big and obnoxious then what are you even doing. Small cases scare me for heat *shrugs* Currently using a HAF-XB cube, but I'd like to get my old Cosmos 2 (my first self build) back up with my next build. Think I'll go Ryzen, but maybe wait another year. If Ryzen is anything like what we are used to seeing from AMD, its only going to get better when they get more experience with the chipset. I love the HAF XB EVO Cube! I had the HAF X Full Tower for several years, and while I loved that case to work on--TONNES of space and lots of goodies to help you keep the install clean....It was just WAY TOOO $&*#*$&*$!!! BIG...I mean, with all my shiny stuff in it- the thing weighed nearly 100 lbs! (OK maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but not by much. Suffice to say it was bloody heavy.) Not to mention that with even one GPU and motherboard mounted to 'hang' the way its traditionally done...my single 980 was sagging and even my POS Maximus VI Hero was starting to bend under the weight. To this day, I don't understand why they build "Towers" that cause the hardware to have to be mounted vertically and hang, which can cause sagging, warping etc. In my mind, a flat case like the EVO XB where the MB lays flat and the cards, RAM etc are all mounted flat, makes much more sense. There's just less stress on everything. And why are GPUs (when they hang) mounted so that the fans blow hot air down...and in such a way that you can't actually see the nicest looking parts of the card? (pretty much all that is visible from a seated position is the backplate and PCB, which often aren't very pretty or aesthetically pleasing.) Know what I mean? SO when I went with a second 980 FTW and my new X-99 based build...I knew I had to go for a 'flat' case- something that could keep things horizontal. And then I saw a "Linus Tech Tips" video for the newly minted HAF XB...and I knew that that was gonna be my next case. I've had this case since Summer 2016 and haven't ever looked at another case. For me this will be the case I use for the rest of my PC Gaming days....

No, Andromeda is more graphical intensive than Witcher 3, it uses Frostbite engine, I run TW3 at 60 - 55 FPS on ultra and DAI 40 -50 FPS on high - very high I7 4790 , 16 GB Ram, GTX 970 3GB Vram the Frostbite Engine is way more demanding than RED Engine, and RED Engine is way better optimized Both the Witcher 3 and Andromeda will be very optimized. Most EA games are optimized. But if you really want pure graphical punishment then try running ARMA III for your CPU and Crysis 3 for your GPU.
