I wish people would stop suggesting B5 get a reboot. I keep seeing vids of it on YT. Have they seen the state of other TV series nowadays? It's an unmitigated mess!!! Beloved tv series are no longer about story telling but platforms for agendas.
Additionally, there is no one suitable to replace Peter Jurasik, Andreas Katsulas and everyone on the cast. So no, Babylon 5 does not need a reboot!!!

I agree that B5 doesn't need a reboot (and that Jurasik and Katsulas are completely irreplaceable) but B5 hat at least as much of a political agenda as any TV show airing today, and it was hardly subtle about how it communicated it.

I don't know if anyone here has shared this video about if Babylon 5 should be rebooted. It's really good and worth a watch and the guy makes some good for and against it being rebooted, there will be some people who might be some what offended by his take "B5 is not popular" but his point on that is that outside of the show's fanbase and hardcore sci-fi TV fans it's not popular as Star Trek and Star Wars are.
Honestly I think would rather see a major network/streaming platform do an adaption of JMS' Midnight Nation which for my money is his greatest work in any media and could be made into a great TV maxi-series. I don't know if a B5 reboot movie is the right way to go JMS is a damn good writer even a great writer some times but to condense all those episodes into a movie even a trilogy I don't know if any writer could pull that off. I saw Babylon 5 all the way through for the first time a few years ago and every show has thoroughly picked it's bones clean it was hard for me to watch and not compare it too more recent shows that have done that style and in some cases did it better.

The same with every major sci-fi TV show since the 60s. Star Trek, The Twilight Zone, Dr. Who, Space: 1999, The Outer Limits, and etc. This "whole stop shoving politics" into my sci-fi TV show reboots even though these shows are popular because they were and the spin-offs and reboots are political is people not really getting that all those shows have always been political and they can't deal with is getting old.
Or do you think the whole sub-plot on B5 about the President Clark Administration being a fascist regime was JMS making a VERY political point for what? I mean B5 was just as political as Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was.

Granted there is a right way and a wrong way to present politics in fiction...I find as I watch it. But yes, overall Science Fiction is a very political agenda driven genre...which is something I usually don't mind because I like consider and thinking about these things. (Hell this is something that also comes up in Star Wars...Star Wars was never political the Sequels are an abomination...said about the same franchise which detailed the rise of an Empire). And in B5 specifically not only is B5 political but it is the most major fictional example of what shaped my politics. The arc with Clarke and even the Shadows and the Vorlons are a big part of the reason why I am the way I am and a big part of the lense I view with my interactions with government... But to say that modern TV shows is somehow more agenda driven then old TV shows (Like Discovery, Arrow, Game of Thrones, etc), or that they are doing so at the expense of telling a compelling narrative seems really suspect to me. Some may not like the agendas being preached...which is perfectly fine...but it is all about presentation and how those agendas are preached. (For instance I wasn't especially fond of Doctor Who 'Spiders in the UK' making direct references to Trump...and I'm not even a huge fan of his).

It's not just sci-fi shows that are political there are plenty of sitcoms, dramas, hell even westerns I mean shows like Night Court, The Waltons, and Wagon Train respectfully that had political charged episodes.
Star Wars has ALWAYS been political or is rebels destroying an evil fascist empire, showing how the Old Republic gets turned from a democracy into a fascist state, or statements like Padme says: "So this is how liberty dies with thunderous applause" or Obi-Wan telling Vader "I believe in democracy!" those ARE political statements. So the sequels just building on George Lucas did and said.
Honestly I found the narratives of shows like Star Trek: Discovery and Arrow are better because they have a real world political point of view and forces me to think about it and metaphors are often misunderstood and in shows like Arrow it's just plain stupid because even though Arrow is set in a fictional world, but it's a world heavily based on our world and things like politics should be referenced.
The most of I've seen of Game of Thrones was YouTuber Lindsey Ellis' two part "hot take" on the ending to that damn show and lets say I didn't have any interest in watching before it ended and I have no interest in watching after it ended. The only shows on HBO that I watch and/or want to watch are Gentleman Jack (saw the first season) and Watchmen (haven't had the money to buy it yet) after that I could care less about the rest of their shows. I mean when they get something that interests me I'll be more than happy to watch it but I find a lot of HBO shows to vastly over-rated pieces of shit. Also "Spiders in the UK" wasn't the first Dr. Who episode to make a direct reference Trump as President the last episode of the 11th Doctor had a scene where he tells the Master and Missy "technology without empathy is how you get the Cybermen and Trump as President." or something to that effect.

I forgot about that other one honestly. My general idea on it is that you should stick to referencing political principles as much as possible but you risk pissing someone off if you make directpolitical references...unless your show is set in our actual world.

Fans are always going to pissed off about something regardless if it's politics or not. I know fans of the Transformers who don't like the design of Megatron's lips in the new Netflix Transformers War For Cybertron Trilogy: Siege series. Or fans who hate a show that violates the supposed "canon" of a universe in a small way that most people don't know or care about. At least politics you making a statement, right or wrong/good or bad, you're telling people where you stand. And with Arrow the comic book character that series was based on has been one of DC's most political characters since the 70s Green Lantern/Green Arrow comic book run and that run makes the whole show look damn near apolitical.

Looking at some old stuff and the old wish arises once more; dang, why don't someone make a game out of B5? Hardly any SP space sim since Wing Commander and Free Space. Well for me.
This is a 2012 vid. Mission playable expansions by FS / B5 fans for Free Space 2 using some aspects from B5 ship models. I tried playing the missions but the installs were complicated for me and I never did get to play them.

I wrote her, back in the 90s when B5 was on the air and received a lovely reply. I still have the letter which I kept in careful storage with all the B5 stuff.

Delenn ( R.I.P ) was one of my favorite characters of the series together with Lennier Susan Ivanova G'Kar and Kosh Naranek ( the mysterious Vorlon Ambassadeur ) just to name a few. I have all the seasons on DVD and i really loved the series.
