Legend of the rangers is the only B5 thing i never watched, nor do i know much about it. I guess since it didnt come with the dvd sets i sort of didnt know it existed and then forgot about it repeatedly. What exactly was the premise of the whole thing and your thoughts on it then? If you dont mind my asking that anyway, its just you just have a nice viewpoint on all things B5. Legend of the Rangers was the first spinoff they tried. It was to be a spaceship show, focused on a group of Rangers, obviously as they went about their space shenanigans. It was set post B5 so you have a mix of humans, Minbari and a fat Drazi as the main cast. G'Kar was in the pilot but even he couldn't save it. Generic stock characters were aplenty, like the young hotshot captain with something to prove, the wise and logical Minbari that even to a non-Trekkie reeked of Spock, the minority blue collar crew member (the fat Drazi was the engineer or something), the rival crew etc. Plus they also turned the terror doctrine/ Minbari war doctrine of "always finish a fight" into "literally never retreat, ever, or you're out". Which is beyond idiotic. Then you had downright silly things like the weapon system of a ship being activated by the gunner chick literally doing punches and kicks. And of course they tried to one-up the Shadows, which made it go from hilarious to actual sacrilege in my books. So yeah, definitely pass. Wow... Thanks |

You find the most interesting things when you're searching B5 images... otherdimensionsandgalaxies.blogspot.ca/2014/09/b5-cast-suggestions.htmlFan casting is usually largely people putting either their own favorites or just the most famous A-listers in the roles. But sometimes there's some nice surprises. I'm not sure about most of the choices in the link but I could definitely see Simon Pegg and Sam Witwer in those roles. |

Compilation of the Shadow events
Everyone was getting the shit kicked out of them. The Narns died, Sheridan & Co struggled and had to use other ways to destroy a single Shadow BC. Then the Vorlons came riding in and turned the Shadows on their heads. Of course every B5 fan knew how everything turned out in the end. Still, it was a pom pom moment to see the Shadows getting their ass kicked.
Who never went ; oh shit, when the Shadows turned up at B5, as foreseen years before?

Of course, any First One could solo pretty much all the younger races combined (maybe the Minbari would inconvenience them slightly, but that's about it). Luckily, most didn't care and the two that did were more about playing favorites (or rather getting us to) than outright destruction. And yeah I still get chills (of awesome) over the Shadow ships. If I still had some doubts after Mind War that I would be obsessed with this series, that first encounter sealed the deal. Menacing and mysterious, they truly felt like a cosmic force. I think Shadow ships slightly edge out over Vorlon ships for me due to their phasing as opposed to the standard jump holes everyone else was using. It's so right for them. On the other hand when the sky suddenly spams jump holes everywhere and the Vorlon fleet comes through you know shit will get ruined, something their half-children the White Stars inherit  Would've been cool to see more First One level tech in how the other ships moved too. The Walkers get a cool lightning-y effect, sort of half phasing, half jumping. We don't see what the other Ones do though. |

Ripped Sinclair/Valen is kind of interesting as well. Ancient Delenn too. I like the concept behind the "shadow-winged Morden" but think it could be done a bit better. Zathras looks like he's taking one up the bung from Spacesuit Sinclair though.  |

Missed this topic at first, but I'd like to report in as a fan!
Loved the show, the stories, the characters, the ship designs, pretty much everything!
Has there been any word though about a potential HD-version? Despite all the technical difficulties it would bring?
Maybe I'm a spoiled brat, but especially the CGI scenes look pretty awful while rewatching the DVDs...
