Yesterday I completed Virmire with Ahmed Shepard, and today Ahmed recruited Liara. I'll write up a more detailed post sometime later in the week, hopefully tomorrow. While I know Liara can be recruited at any time prior to Ilos, it never occurred to me to do so until after Virmire. I'd say next playthrough but odds are I'll be nicer than Jeph is right now.

Jeph Shepard: - A batarian bartender poisoned me. I survived. When I forced him to drink the same thing, he wasn't so lucky. He'd been poisoning humans for years and got just what he deserved. - Went on a mission to find Mordin Solus. It was in a plague zone but humans were immune. I "convinced" the turian guard to let me in by telling him I'd kill every looter or anyone else who got in my way. A dying batarian accused humans of being behind it. I doubted it. Well, maybe Cerberus but not your average human. Even Ash (who I heard BADLY misquoted in a way that made her sound good) would never have allowed something like this to happen. She was more pro-human and less anti-alien. Anyway, the batarian died right before my eyes. - Mordin had developed a cure for the plague but needed help dispersing it. That could be done by the environment controls that the vorcha shut down even as we were speaking. That was our goal. Mordin would have gone himself except his assistant Daniel had gone out to help others and not returned. I found him, being threatened by batarians. I made them think I'd let them walk but as soon as Daniel was clear I shot them. I'm the goddamn Butcher of Torfan! No batarian terrorist walks on my watch. I'd say to ask those assholes on Asteroid X57 but they're all dead. Daniel was appalled, which I suppose makes sense for a doctor, but Mordin agreed with my actions. He left the clinic in the hands of Daniel and came with me. I think I was gonna like this guy. - Crap! Message from mom. Never got around to letting her know I was alive. Not sure how I felt about telling her who I was working with. But she thinks it's a classified Spectre op so I'll just let her keep on thinking that. Got some tech and ship upgrades from Mordin, Jacob, Miranda, Garrus and even Chakwas. That last one allowed me to heal my scars. I know I used to have one but it wasn't present after the reconstruction. Now I looked even better than I had before Torfan.

"Hi Alec, we found the matriarch's daughter! She's called Liara T'Soni and is an asari Prothean researcher. We found her in some Prothean ruins on Therum (a fucking hot planet by the way). She had gotten herself trapped in a Prothean device she had activated, which she did because Saren's geth started showing up and she wanted to protect herself. But we got her out safely, took care of Saren's troops and got the hell out of there. We almost didn't make it at all. Breaking out Liara involved blasting our way through a barrier with a mining laser, and those ruins were old, so... you get the picture. Joker got us out just in time. I really don't like close calls like that. I asked Liara about her mother, but she hadn't seen her for a while, and she was worried. Said that this was not like Benezia. I believe her, I think she can be trusted to have told me the truth about Benezia. She looks like an earnest type, plus there was the fact that the geth were after her, too. Unfortunately Liara couldn't tell me anything I didn't know already, except that she got this theory the Protheans weren't the first race to be wiped out, and that it's a cycle repeating itself. I'm intrigued about this. It's plausible, but that doesn't help us right now, so we're not closer to finding Saren yet. Got a couple of leads though, mostly geth sightings, so I will check them out soon. For now we are returning to the Citadel to stock up on some things and report back to Admiral Kahoku about his men. I also spoke some more with Alenko, Williams and all our alien additions and learned more about them. I think you'd probably like them all, I know I do. It's a fine crew and I feel good with them. Williams is a bit suspicious of the aliens on board, but I think she'll be alright and get used to them. She told me she has never worked with aliens before, but I have a feeling there's something more to it that she didn't tell me about. Anyway, for me it's time now for a little nightcap and some sleep, I'm absolutely beat. Until next time. - Dee" Some pics: Ooooh yeah Fumbling around. Haha, better hurry up and bring the Normandy in, Joker! As always, opening up with a little Hacking One-shotted, you bastard! Yay, be my friend, Kaidan! I think he needs a hug. No death on Therum this time Even though I was lucky and the krogan glitched out a bit, as he just stood there at the beginning. Kaidan went down, but Wrex and I managed without him, hehe. Also, I have Master Immunity for both Shep and Wrex now

What I did today? Only this... I boarded a Collector ship. With Javik!!! Ok, I know this is a modded game and doesn't count as "official", is from EGM mod from those wondering. But hell. How about this? Instead of that crappy mission on Cione, we could have this. The art style and most of the assets were already created, right? After all, we even receive a mail in the vanilla game telling us the Collectors had surfaced again, remember? Every time I play Leviathan the whole thing left a bitter taste in my mouth afterwards...

I'm slowing down with my ME2 pt, playing ME1 completely in a (long) weekend is a bit much.
After escaping the facility where project lazarus brought me back, I met with the Illusive man, told him I what I thought, but decided to check out the colony (would have been a very short game if I didn't). In the colony I ran into Tali, it was weird, for me it was like I saw her yesterday, but for her it has been 2 years, but I could prove it was really me. I send Veetor back with Tali on the condition she would send me his omnitool data, which ofcourse she did. On my return to Cerberus station, I had a short discussion with TIM (don't trust that man, he makes more than I do, Joker thought me well) and said I will look into these collecters. TIM said he found a pilot for me, and yes, it was my favourit Vrolik's Syndrome Sufferer and the ship we got to play with is just fantastic, especially the elevator is so much faster than the one we had before.
I was told to get Mordin first, but nobody tells me what to do so I went to see Anderson first on the Citadel. Had a good talk with an add there and accepted Kasumi as part of my crew. Anderson was able to reinstate my specter status, and after that I did some shopping in the Zakera Wards.
Back aboard the ship I had a little chat with Kasumi and since we were in the neighborhood, we went to get her former partner's graybox. The heist went well enough, and after a little shootout between a pistol and a gunship, we set course for Omega to look for Mordin and Archangel.
However, about ten steps in I ran into Zaeed, who was also on my todo list (not in that way, he's not my type) so I had a little chat with him and surprise surprise, TIM failed to mention I had to help him first, so after a little shopping on Omega and meeting with Aria, I went back to the Normandy and set a course to Zorya to kill the leader of the Blue Suns. I made the tough call to sacrifice the workers there, to ensure the loyalty of Zaeed. And of course we succeeded our mission.
Back aboard the Normandy I was going through some files and noticed something about some mission scientist on Zeona, which was near, so I had joker plot a course there. After retrieving the missing vehicle (and collecting all research data scattered around we went back to the Normandy.
I haven't mentioned my PA TIM put in me crew, when I met her, and she told me she was also a shrink. I may have been to harsh on her, now she won't talk to my anymore (except business) and I can't stop thinking she's cute (and maybe she'd be willing to look after my fish while I'm on a mission...)

Yesterday I finished Therum, and now I've managed to complete all the main story missions before Ilos. It was pretty hilarious to recruit Liara last, the dialogue and Liara's disbelieving tone was priceless. I even threatened to throw her into a volcano In Noveria, I saved the Rachni Queen and dispatched Anoleis. In Feros, I convinced Ethan Jeong to help the colony and spared Shiala. In Virmire, I convinced Wrex to trust me because I had helped him find his family armor. Also, I ended up sacrificing Ashley - it was sad and I would have really wanted to keep her, but I also wanted to romance Kaidan so there was no other option. Amy Shepard's relationship with Kaidan is building up nicely, and they've had some nice chats together. It's pretty rewarding when you challenge yourself to do things you are naturally inclined against and you find yourself enjoying it. Romancing Kaidan was never an obvious option for me (I still blame Carth Onasi), but I've started liking him. I've done more sidequests during this PT than ever before; obviously trying to pick and choose the good ones. I met Zabaleta and helped him, and it was fun to find someone from my past and call mom Shepard. I also helped Nassana Dantius with her little problem, and she proved to be just as devious as you can expect. Waiting to meet her again in ME2, although it's sad that she will fall victim to Thane I kinda started liking her. Her voice is just so alluring Random thought: Out of all the Asari in the universe, why are we stuck with Liara? There are so many interesting (and hot) asari out there, like Tela Vasir, Shiala, Nassana Dantius, Aethyta - basically every other asari in the game strikes my fancy more than Liara. And we only get her Romancing her the first time on was fun but lately I've gotten very tired of her antics But BW wants Shepard to have this special relationship with Liara, so I guess I'll just have to play on to some extent. Anyway, the next step is to head back to Citadel to alert the Council about Ilos and Saren. We all know how that is going to work out...

"Hey Alec. Man, I'm pretty shaken up right now. When we had left the Normandy's docking bay and were just about to leave C-Sec, a lieutenant contacted me and told me there is a young woman at the docking bay and he thought I could help. She had been taken by those batarian fucks during the raid and spent 13 years as a slave. 13 goddamn years... Her name is Talitha. She was rescued some weeks ago, but managed to get a hold of a gun and wanted to kill herself. Can't say I'd blame her for wanting to die. I know what it feels like. But I had to try and save her, maybe she can recover someday. Live a better life. Even though I don't know if she really can, it was terrible to hear all about it. She was a mess. That poor girl's been through some rough things... She saw her parents die in front of her. These batarian scum burned them right in front of her eyes. Can you imagine that? The picture she painted was very vivid, it must've been so cruel. She was only 6 when it happened. I thought I've been through some crap, but hearing her story, I can consider myself lucky. I'm glad she got out of this. I managed to gain her trust and was able to give her a sedative. I hope she'll get better, she has to. I still took care of some things on the Citadel, which was a good distraction. But now that I'm back here and all alone, I needed some drinks. Half the fucking bottle is gone already and I just can't stop thinking about this whole thing. It was tough to see that suffering girl... And now everything that happened back then is on my mind. I worked so hard to bury it, and now it all came back. Mum, Dad, Kait. You. Our time together. Our first kiss. I remember. We were out another night, and we lay on our backs watching the stars... dreaming about going to space one day. Like we did so often. I remember you telling jokes. You made me laugh so hard I almost couldn't breathe. The funny thing is that I can't recall what the jokes were even about, but the next moment is so engraved in my mind as if it all just happened a minute ago. Me on the grass, almost dying of laughter, trying to calm down. Like an idiot, I blurted out 'Oh man, I love you', because you always made me laugh. You looked at me, and our laughter ceased. I know, you said. I remember I was so scared that I had just fucked up our friendship with this stupid thing. I hadn't wanted you to know. But then you leant over and kissed me. You told me how you had noticed the looks I stole when I was around you. That you were drawn to me too, but never found the courage to tell me. I remember teasing you because you were never the shy type. We lay next to each other until it was almost dawn, holding hands, kissing, talking. I was so excited for what life had in store for us, the future we dreamed about. It was perfect. But when we arrived at the colony... It's just not fair. Damn it, I still miss you so much. I wish you were here with me. Love you, always. -Dee" Pics! Talitha's quest always makes me sad. It's probably the most emotional scene in ME1 for me, and it's a damn good one. Besides talking to Al-Jilani and Kahoku, I also helped out Emily Wong and Dr. Michel again, talked to Conrad, Rebekah and Michael, Helena Blake, and told Nassana about her sister. She took it well Now I'm going out again to shoot at some things, yay!

Can't wait to try a Shepard who has really dealt with the past. Must feel very different during this scene. Also, forgot to answer you earlier. I actually don't mind not being able to mod The romances in ME1 are not my favourites, and when I tried out Kaidan's M/M romance, I liked the slow burn a lot. Though I can imagine it can be sweet if they fall for each other earlier on too.

Anyway, the next step is to head back to Citadel to alert the Council about Ilos and Saren. We all know how that is going to work out... Don't talk bad about the goddess of the universe you... you... banshee. Just kidding. Interesting we talk a lot about the romance and relationships we have in ME games. Not a surprise, the game put strong emphasis on it and is good to search and discover what makes a character's personality strong, weak, lame, etc. Also since the asari is the most beautiful race in the galaxy, we talk a lot about this aspect. Isn't Mr. Vega? One discution I don't see too much about the asari is... they screwed us. Hard. Let's see. We find the Crucible schematics and start to build it, even if we don't actually understand how it will work and what it will do. It will destroy the reapers from the look of it, but we really don't know what the helll is going on. And later we discover if we don't take appropriate steps it will also wipe us all out along with the reapers. Also since we rushed to build it we don't programmed it right, since it will not discriminate the energy and will wipe out all synthetic life in the galaxy, reapers or not. The prothean beacon on Thessia has all the answers we need to correctly built it or at least make the necessary adjustments, but this knowledge is only known to the very high levels of their government. We can't guarantee the asari councilor knew about it, but the way she explains it to Shepard is a possibility. So, they have the key to a super weapon on their backyard and don't reveal it because this would also reveal their origins and how they are hoarding prothean tech for their own gain. From what it seems there are laws when discovering prothean ruins and artifacts and they need to be shared among other species. I'm not naive, I don't know if we humans have all this knowledge we would share it with the rest of the galaxy. But the main point is they only shared when their backs are against the wall and they would probably share the same fate of the batarians, since they are unprepared for the war (to be fair to them, like us humans too, since Earth is pretty much being depopulated fast). So yeah. We could have prevented the second battle of the citadel, the occupation of the galaxy, the extreme loss of billions of life and the annihilation of some other species. But we don't. Thanks to the asari.

Thanks to the asari. Ahahaha, it seems that while Liara is very popular, there appears to me a significant minority who enjoy bashing her I don't hate her by any means; sure, she's got some issues, and I don't like the way she's put on a pedestal compared to other romances, but she's actually cute and she always turns on the charm for Shepard which kinda gets to you even though you try to resist. Like when she makes the comment about your outfit in Citadel DLC, at least if you wear the cocktail dress for the first mission. I'm just a bit disappointed that we can't date other asari - as the guy in the Silversun bar said, everyone wants to have sex with them. Romances and relationships are the best thing in BW games and MET takes them into a whole new level because you have relationships spanning over two or three games. Just how cool is that? In my first PT I stayed faithful to Liara through the whole damn thing and the last scene was breathtaking. Especially in retrospect, because both Liara and Shepard died in the final push to the Citadel Funny that you should mention Mr. Vega. I actually like him a lot Also, the fact that asari screwed the rest of the galaxy is some pretty realistic writing from BW, even kinda ingenious - I would call that "human" nature

Karen Shepard, Soldier, ME2 cont'd: Normandy Mordin informed Shepard that he'd been examining Collector technology, and had some interesting theories about their culture and described the fall of the Protheans. He claimed there was nothing of Protheans left in the Collectors, and they couldn't be saved. When Shepard expressed surprise at Mordin's interest in cultural matters, he replied that he “sang a little” and treated Shepard to an Gilbert and Sullivan style tune. It was a surprise, and not as bad as Shepard might have expected. Grunt was also having fun, remembering “good deaths” while Shepard “did that human thing” she was always doing. Kasumi expressed gratitude for helping retrieve Keiji's graybox. She still misses him. Shepard got an email from the Urdnot Shaman, claiming that Grunt was vital to the survival of the krogan and demanding that Shepard keep him alive. Serpent Nebula: Citadel The Normandy returned to the Citadel after a long spell away in the Terminus Systems (and some a bit of time in Citadel space - against orders - but Shepard wasn't going to tell Anderson that). Tali and Garrus joined Shepard on the station, as they set out to try and find Sidonis, the former member of Garrus' squad on Omega that had reportedly betrayed the others and got them all killed. At the customs desk they encountered a turian who claimed that all humans were racist because they couldn't make the shuttles run any faster. Hard to argue with that kind of logic.
Shepard accessed the Galactic News terminal to get caught up on the latest happenings. Shame about the Blue Suns suffering all of those losses in the Terminus fighting an “unknown” mercenary group. Hopefully they'll find out who was responsible.
Capt Bailey gave Shepard and Garrus the intel he had on the forger known as “Fade”, who was their link to Sidonis. Bailey hadn't been able to catch Fade, and suspected he might be getting help from someone inside C-Sec. He hoped that Shepard and Garrus, being outsiders, might have better luck, so he was quite cooperative. Once again Shepard had to wonder about Garrus' complaints about all of the “red tape” at C-Sec, given how eager Bailey was to “bend” the rules. He might have been the exception rather than the rule.
On the way to the location provided by Bailey, Shepard decided to do some shopping: fish, a space hamster, model ships - the essentials. She also got some weapon upgrades from Rodam Expeditions. Garrus was feeling nostalgic for those long elevator rides they used to take on the Citadel; Tali, not so much (“I have a shotgun...”, she reminded him menacingly - and adorably).
They visited the Presidium to check in with Anderson. Shepard asked about Ashley's presence on Horizon, and accepted his explanation. In his position, she wouldn't fully trust Shepard either. They then headed towards the warehouse district, picking up a package for Ish along the way. It appeared to be some dirt on Aria's associate Anto.
Outside of the warehouse they found a quarian being arrested by C-Sec for theft, based on the accusations of volus. Kor Tun had accused Lia'Vael – on the station for her Pilgrimage – of stealing his credit chit, and although no chit was found on her the C-Sec officer seemed to be taking a “guilty until proven innocent” approach to the matter. Tali wasn't pleased, to say the least, and when Shepard promised to look into the officer told her to butt out. Shepard went to the Sirta Foundation store, where the pick-pocketing had allegedly taken place, but it wasn't there. She checked at other stores, and found out the Kor Tun had left it at Saronis Applications. When Shepard told him where he could go pick it up, neither he nor the C-Sec officer were very apologetic, and Shepard gave them both a piece of her mind. Tali joined in, while Garrus just tried to stay out of the crossfire. The officer was ticked off, but Spectre status has its privileges and there was nothing he could do. Serpent Nebula: Citadel - Garrus out for Vengeance. Again. Inside the warehouse they met up with Fade's contact, along with two krogan body guards who quickly decided that discretion was the better part of valour and walked away. The contact informed them that “Fade” was actually their old friend Harkin, the former disgraced C-Sec officer who was now using his insider knowledge to help the Blue Suns get away with their crimes. They would find him in the factory district.
Harkin wasn't happy to see them, and made a run for it while Blue Suns played the role of cannon fodder to cover his escape. Eventually they defeated all of his goons and caught up to him. Garrus “persuaded” him to set up a meeting with Sidonis. Harkin's claim that “the Terminus really changed you” showed that he didn't really know Garrus at all – for as long as Shepard had known him he'd hated injustice and scumbags like Harkin equally, so all of this was really nothing new.
They left Harkin – with a headbutt from Garrus and a warning that they'd be back if he double-crossed them – and headed for the meeting with Sidonis at the Orbital Lounge. Garrus was unhappy about letting Harkin go, but he was small potatoes and wouldn't be remain a free man once Bailey learned of his identity. Shepard once again asked Garrus about the ethics of what they were doing, but Garrus felt he had no other option than killing Sidonis. Shepard knew that, like the situation with Dr Saleon, Garrus blamed himself more than anything. It was part of turian culture that their leaders always felt responsible when their subordinates couldn't handle their responsibilities, and Sidonis clearly wasn't up to being part of Garrus' team. She asked Garrus to give her a chance to talk it through with Sidonis.
Garrus set up in a good spot for sniping, and Shepard went to talk to Sidonis. She stood between him and Garrus, to try and reason with both of them. Killing during combat was one thing, but shooting an unarmed man was something Shepard wanted to avoid, not for Sidonis' sake, but for Garrus. Sidonis talked about the guilt he felt, how he hadn't been able to resist the pressure from the mercs, and the depression he'd been suffering ever since. Eventually, Garrus decided to let him walk away.
Afterwards, Shepard and Garrus spoke about what happened. Shepard hated what her friend was going through, and wished their was a way to see justice done, but she didn't think gunning down Sidonis would have been the way to do it. Garrus seemed to accept this himself. As they got ready to leave, EDI informed them that Harkin had been taken into C-Sec custody, so at least something had been achieved out of all this.

fraggle : The Talitha stuff is so sweet. Yes, it's so good to help her heal. I imagine it's helpful to Shepard, too. Me, too. Colonist is some strong background. I think having an option, where none had existed before, is one of the things that makes it worthwhile.

"Hi Alec, I feel much better since my last letter to you. We've been out and took care of some more things. When we left the Citadel Hackett contacted me that a VI on an Alliance training ground on Luna had gone rogue and killed people already. It ignored any kind of shutdown command, so I was asked to take care of it personally. Gotta say, the view from the moon on Earth was spectacular. I know you've never been to Earth, but during my training to become an N7, I loved being there. It's a beautiful planet, and it was amazing to see it from so far away. But of course we weren't there to enjoy the scenery. Since I had to deal with a VI, I brought our tech specialists Tali and Garrus, who were an immense help. They definitely know their stuff. One after another, we shut down all 3 facilities, Tali and me hacking a lot of drones the VI had taken over. Now the curious thing... when we destroyed the VI, the terminals displayed binary code over and over. It read HELP. I have no idea what to make of it. That was pretty weird. Then we took care of a crime boss and his goons in the Hades Gamma cluster. There was a woman named Helena Blake on the Citadel. She approached me and told me about two crime bosses that should be taken down. I agreed, but I don't trust this woman and expect her to double-cross me later on. We'll see about it. For now, we're halfway there. We still need to head to the Gemini Sigma cluster to take care of the other crime boss. Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you that Admiral Kahoku found out some more about his men. He dropped the name Cerberus as the ones being behind the beacon that lured his men in. Never heard of this organisation, but I intend to find out what they're up to. It's especially interesting that they supposedly are a rogue Alliance black-ops group. I'll keep you posted. -Dee" Devlon now has the commando specialisation The Rogue VI mission is so much fun when bringing techies, it was hilarious again No deaths this time either, weeee. I'll probably continue some sidequests over the weekend, and I think the next main mission I do will be Feros.

Like I promised a few days ago, here is the write-up for Ahmed Shepard. Ahmed Shepard on Virmire: 1. Discussed assault strategy with Captain Kirrahe. Kirrahe needed someone from Shepard's squad to put on his own team, and Shepard gave him Ashley. Ahmed needed Kaidan's tech skills to arm the bomb that they needed to use to blow up the facility. 2. Kirrahe gave a rousing speech. Even Ahmed was fired up, even though he was not really a 'hold the line' kind of guy; Ahmed preferred assaulting the enemy line. 3. Ahmed took Wrex and Garrus and made his way to the facility, taking out all Geth and Krogan resistance they met. They also managed to help Kirrahe's team by taking out a satellite uplink, disrupting enemy communications, destroying Geth drones, and shutting off alarms. 4. Ahmed found a back door into the facility, and immediately ran into some Salarian resistance. It appears that some of Kirrahe's captured men were now fighting for Saren. It seems it was more of this 'indoctrination' at work like Benezia explained. 5. Ahmed Found some Salarians locked in cages. One of them was antsy and really wanted out. His squadmates urged caution, but Ahmed would want to get out of a cage too, so he let the Salarians out. They then attacked him, and he was forced to kill them all. 6. Ahmed found some more Salarians locked in cages. He was more cautious with this group since the last encounter ended poorly, but this group was different. Unlike the last group, most of these Salarians were docile. Only of the Salarians seemed normal. According to the Salarian, he was used as a control subject. They were studying the effects of indoctrination. The control subject was unaffected, but the others' minds were completely gone. Ahmed decided to let the Salarian go. He was grateful and walked out. Ahmed left the other Salarians in their cages, since it was obvious there was nothing he could do. 7. Ahmed took an elevator up, where he found an Asari and Krogan scientist studying husks. Ahmed took the scientists down before they had a chance to fight back, then killed the husks. 8. Ahmed ran into another Asari scientist. She opened the door for Shepard, and then explained how they were studying indoctrination and how it seemed to work. She explained it was caused by some sort of signal or energy field emenating from Sovereign, Saren's ship. She also explained that the effects were subtle at first and that the man she replaced had been indoctrinated. Unlike the Salarians, Ahmed killed her. She had made her choice, and if indoctrination was as insidious as she claimed, then she was already indoctrinated. 9. Ahmed took another elevator and found a working Prothean beacon. He activated it and saw the vision again. This beacon did not explode and appeared to be more intact than the last beacon he used so the vision was much clearer, although it still did not make sense. 10. And then Ahmed found what he thought was a VI terminal, only it turned out to be a direct communication link to Soveriegn. And it was revealed that Sovereign was not a Reaper ship, but an actual Reaper! The conversation was short but chilling. The conversation ended when Ahmed threatened to break the Reapers like the machines that they are. 11. Ahmed headed to the breeding facility. He shut off the last AA gun, then headed to the rendevous point. Joker landed the Normandy and they planted the bomb. Ashley then called in. Ashley and Salarians were pinned down at the AA tower. Kaidan stayed behind to begin arming the bomb while Ahmed went to go help Ashley and the Salarians. 12. Halfway to Ashley, a Geth dropship flew over the bombsite and dropped off some Geth. Unable to hold them all off, Kaidan armed the bomb. Both Ashley and Kaidan insisted that Shepard save the other one. With time running out, Shepard chose to go back to the bomb site to rescue Kaidan. 13. Shepard made it back to the bomb site just in time to see some of his men die at the hands of the Geth assault. He killed the attacking Geth, but he heard Ashley on the radio fighting before she went radio silent. 14. Saren showed up on a hoverboard. He explained that he was working with the Reapers, trying to prove that organics were useful tools in hopes that the Reapers would spare organics instead of wiping them out. Ahmed suspected that Saren was being indoctrinated -- or at least manipulated -- by Sovereign. Saren asked Ahmed if he would join him, but Ahmed refused. Saren then tried to kill him, but the battle was short. Saren flew away to safety once the bomb's alarm went off, indicating it was only minutes away from exploding. Joker flew in with the Normandy just in time to pick up Shepard, Kaidan, Wrex, and Garrus, then flew away before the bomb exploded. Ahmed watched the explosion from orbit. 15. After debriefing the crew, he called the council. The council was grateful that the breeding facility was destroyed, but did not believe Shepard's report about Sovereign being a Reaper. Then Ahmed lost his temper at the Turian councilor and eventually he hung up on the council. Story time:
Ahmed Shepard took another long gulp from the bottle. Why do I always buy the cheap stuff? he asked himself.
His cabin door chimed and he cocked his head at the sound. What now?
"Come in."
The door slid open to reveal Lieutenant Kaidan Alenko. Great, Ahmed thought bitterly. Just what I need. He had a good idea what Kaidan wanted to talk about. Ahmed chugged the remaining alcohol from the bottle, dropped it back on the table, then grabbed another bottle.
"Commander," Kaidan said, entering the room.
"Lieutenant," Ahmed replied. He gestured at Kaidan with the bottle. "You want a beer?"
"I would, but that's not real beer."
"Suit yourself." Ahmed twisted the cap, then took a long sip.
"You know," Kaidan began as he took a seat opposite Shepard, "If you wanted to get drunk, there are easier ways to do it."
"And if I wanted a guilt trip, I could just call my mother," Ahmed retorted. "You didn't come here to criticise my choice of beers. What do you want."
"I just wanted to see how you were dealing with Ash's death."
"I'm dealing," Ahmed replied. He took another sip of beer.
"I can see that." Several full bottles stood on one end of the table like little soldiers in formation. A few empty bottles stood on the other end of the table in a cluster.
Kaidan remained silent for a few moments. Ahmed knew the question was coming and didn't want to answer it. He hoped Kaidan would never ask it.
"Is this how you dealt with losing your unit on Akuze?"
Ahmed took another sip from the bottle in his hand. Well at least that wasn't the question he was dreading.
"More or less," he admitted. He took another sip. "The brass gave me some leave. I drank myself into a stupor. I woke up the next morning, threw up, ate breakfast, then worked out. That night I went to the seediest bar I could find and paid them to let me help with security for the night."
"You paid them?" Kaidan asked.
"Well, I paid the bouncer," Ahmed said with a smirk. "He got extra credits and I got to break faces. We both went home satisfied." Another sip.
"So you coped by getting drunk, then beating people up."
"That about sums it up, yeah." Another sip. "This is the getting drunk part. I haven't figured out the violence part yet, but that's tomorrow's problem. Maybe we'll get to shoot something when we go find that Prothean researcher, whatshername."
"Liara T'Soni," Kaidan corrected.
"'Whatsername' is easier to remember."
Another long silence.
"Why me?" Kaidan asked. "Why save me instead of Ash?"
Ahmed swore silently in his head. No getting around this question.
"We lost several marines today, Kaidan. Some of them were protecting you and the bomb. Why do you care about Ash?"
"Well I don't... I mean I do... I mean... It's just that..." Kaidan struggled to find the words. "You and Ash. Were you close?"
Ahmed thought about it.
"I guess we'll never know." Ahmed took another sip.
"So why save me?" Kaidan asked again. Ahmed stopped and stared at him for a moment, deciding if he should tell him the truth.
Ahmed looked down at the bottle in his hand.
"You want the truth? The truth is, I figured Ash could handle herself. Ash was tough. Ash could take a hit and then hit back twice as hard. I figured if anyone could survive being outmanned and outgunned, it was her."
Ahmed looked Kaidan in the eye and continued. "I chose to go back to you, because I thought she could handle herself. I chose to go back to you because I thought you wouldn't survive if I went to go get her. I chose to go back to you because I didn't think you could handle the situation!"
"You want the truth, Kaidan?" Ahmed's voice was increasing in volume. "The truth is, I didn't go back for you. I went back for the bomb!"
Ahmed let that information sink in before continuing. "I went back to you because I needed to make sure that bomb went off. I didn't trust that you could hold off the Geth off long enough for it to go off!"
Kaidan was stunned.
"Shepard," Kaidan explained "We told you that once the bomb was armed, it was nearly impossible to disarm!"
"The key word being 'nearly.' It wasn't 'impossible', just 'nearly' impossible!" Ahmed was almost shouting now. "And you had a Geth dropship above you! The Geth didn't even need to disarm the bomb; they only needed to get it out of the facility. They could move it to the dropship, then carry it into space or drop it into the ocean."
Ahmed paused, considering his next words. When you spoke, his voice was back at normal volume levels.
"I went back so that I could be sure that the bomb would blow up the facility. Because I didn't trust that you could get the job the done. I should have had Tali arm that bomb and then had you protect her, but I chose to leave her on the Normandy instead like an idiot."
There was an awkward silence as the two men looked at each other, their faces expressionless.
Then Ahmed chortled.
"Heh. I guess I drank too much of the truth serum," he said, waggling the bottle in his hand. "I get angry and I say things I regret. I get drunk and I say things I regret. I get angry and drunk, and... I'm sure you get the point."
Ahmed gulped down the rest of the beer in the bottle, slid it to the other group of empties, then grabbed another full bottle and quickly opened it.
"You sure you don't want a beer?" He asked. "I might do something stupid like drink them all myself." He took a long sip from the new bottle.
"No thanks, Commander," Kaidan said. He got up and walked to the door. "But thank you for... telling me the truth."
"No problem."
As the door closed behind Kaidan, Ahmed took another sip of beer and wondered yet again if the galaxy would have been better off if he had died on Akuze.

Ahmed Shepard on Therum: 1. Ahmed finally went to go find the Prothean researcher, Liara T'Soni. Joker dropped Ahmed, Tali, and Garrus in the Mako some distance away from the Prothean ruins. Normandy's scans were picking up some strange readings near the ruins so they drove to the site. The Geth suddenly appeared and dropped. They were not match for a tank. (Except for a Colossus, but Shepard got out and took it out quicker than the Mako ever could.)
2. Ahmed found Liara underground. She was trapped in some sort of kinetic field. She had been trapped for some time and thought Ahmed was a hallucination. Ahmed could not get past the energy barrier, but managed to bore through with a mining laser, then took an elevator up and freed Liara.
3. The laser appeared to have destabilized the volcano they were in (the ancient facility was powered using geothermal energy), so they took the elevator towards the surface, but a Krogan and some Geth walked in. Saren really wanted Liara for some reason. A singularity quickly disabled the enemies and Shepard and his team shot them all to death, then escaped to the surface with Liara where Joker was waiting with the Normandy.
4. At the debrief, Liara explained that she had been studying the Protheans her entire life, especially with regards to their extinction. She was more than just a little disappointed (and a rather upset) when her entire life's work appeared to have been a complete waste of time. Luckily, she managed to read Shepard's vision and determine that the Conduit was on Ilos. Ahmed now has his final destination. He is ready to make Saren pay.

I feel sad that THIS is all I did in ME today. I went to visit my parents and left my laptop behind by accident. I suppose I could install on their computer but I'll be back home Saturday evening.

"Hey Alec! The second crime boss is no more. And me and my team uncovered some things. It's pretty ugly. The message I had received from Admiral Kahoku about Cerberus led us to a planet called Binthu. The coordinates from Kahoku revealed a facility there, heavily defended by turrets. They definitely wanted to keep outsiders away. In the first facility, we laid low and I scoped out the area through my rifle. It contained a shielded area with some creatures inside, things I've never seen. They were small and green, and looked a bit like bugs. There were also people inside, Cerberus personnel. I deactivated the shield so we'd get a surprise attack in and it worked out. The bug-like things attacked the personnel, and after they had worn each other down we went in to take care of the rest. There was not much else to find except data that this planet had another facility. It was the same as the first, turrets, Cerberus, bug-like animals, but much bigger this time. Turned out they had another base and by now I knew what to expect. Though I didn't expect to find Admiral Kahoku's body. He had been sealed inside the shielded area with human-like creatures, but they were no husks. Yet it wasn't them who killed him. I checked out his body and there were obvious needle marks on his arm. This was Cerberus, Alec. They are dangerous. They killed Kahoku because he learned about them, and they conducted illegal genetic experiments. We also discovered the location of another base in the cluster we were in, and I was glad we could shut it down, with no hint at more Cerberus presence in this cluster this time. I was able to copy some files from a terminal before it flushed itself, and some of the ones I could decrypt... man, I didn't read a lot, but this is some serious shit. I don't understand all of it, but I have my doubts that this was the only Cerberus operation. For now it's over though and I sent everything I had to Alliance command for analysis. What was also quite weird was that there was another interested party. Someone contacted me to ask for the Cerberus files on behalf of the Shadow Broker. I know this guy trades with information, and apparently Kahoku had contacted him for help in exchange for any information Kahoku would uncover, but I couldn't just let him have the files. I know nothing about this guy and don't trust him. After this whole thing we were on our way to Feros. Reports of geth made it a point of interest, but then Admiral Hackett contacted me and asked for another favour. This time, a surveillance drone which gathered intel on geth activities was shot down. I was asked to recover the data module, and something was definitely up. As soon as we found it, geth appeared. Shot all of the bastards. Now the intel is safe and sound with the Alliance, but the geth spreading out in the galaxy and the sightings reported to us has me worried. I hope it's just my usual pessimism. At least we found something else on that planet that was really weird, and really amazing. Some time ago, I helped an asari on the Citadel, and in return she gave me a trinket. We found a Prothean artifact, some kind of orb. There was a small slot and the trinket fit perfectly. I had some kind of vision again, from a time long, long ago, where humans were still primitive and the Protheans apparently watched them. Man, that was pretty creepy, but wild. The galaxy is full of wonders and mysteries. I'm really glad I'm out here with the Alliance so I can do this, and it's all thanks to you. -Dee" Last night I sold a lot of the stuff I don't need and bought the HMWSR VII, and the Sniper Rifles tree is at max now. Finally it's absolutely fun to use It was also a lot of fun to let the rachni and creepers out so they'd go for the Cerberus mooks, hehe.

I play tested the final edit for my mods patch 1.1 today, lots and lots of times Shepard landed on the turian moon to shoot husks before his killing spree was brought to a close for a reload. Here is the mod: www.nexusmods.com/masseffect3/mods/487/?I'm looking forward to doing a proper playthrough again.

It was also a lot of fun to let the rachni and creepers out so they'd go for the Cerberus mooks, hehe. ...you can let Cerberus' test subjects loose to kill all their guys? Once again, I've learned something new; I've always taken the mooks out first before lowering the force field. So, that's something else to try during my next playthrough

Well, this write-up turned out to be a lot longer than expected. Oh well.
Ahmed Shepard: 1. Went to go to after Saren and the Conduit on Ilos, but the Council recalled Shepard back to the Citadel. Ahmed was glad to hear the Citadel Council was assembling a fleet to go after Saren.
2. The Council was not going after Saren. Instead, they were assembling the fleet at the Citadel to protect it from Saren. Ahmed argued that they should go to Ilos after Saren, but since Ilos was in the Terminus system, the Council did not want to risk war. When Ahmed argued some more, Udina told him to get out of the meeting. He also told Shepard he had locked down all the Normandy's systems. Ahmed was angry but somehow managed to not lose his temper again (best to be nice to the council since their last meeting ended poorly).
3. Back on the Normandy, Ahmed sulked until he got a call from Anderson, asking that they meet at Flux.
4. Ahmed ran into a demonstration put on by Terra Firma party supporters. A Terra Firma party representative was running for political office and wanted Ahmed to endorse him. Ahmed is a supporter of the Terra Firma party, but could not endorse the representative since political endorsements are against Alliance regulations.
5. Ran into a negotiator named Elias Keeler, who asked Ahmed to go buy him some stimulants to help with a trade negotiation. Ahmed bought him the stims. A newscast later told him the deal went through. The Salarians were not too happy with the negotiations, but the Alliance was forecast to make billions of credits from the deal.
6. Met with Anderson. He wanted to help Ahmed retake the Normandy so he could go after Saren. After some discussion, Anderson agreed to go hack Udina's computer to rescind the lockdown order.
7. Anderson knocked out Udina and rescinded the lockdown order. Ahmed went to Ilos.
8. Ahmed told Joker to drop the Mako right on top of Saren. About a minute earlier, and they might have actually been able to drop the Mako right on top of Saren. Saren managed to lock a big door a few seconds before the Mako got there.
9. After a few minutes, Ahmed and his team (Liara and Kaidan) managed to find the console that unlocked the door. Then they went back to the Mako to chase after Saren.
10. The Mako was soon boxed in my energy fields, forcing them to go down an elevator where they found a damaged Prothean VI. It told them that the Conduit was a backdoor to the Citadel. It also told them that the Citadel was actually a Mass Relay that led to dark space where the Reapers were waiting. Saren was going to activate the Citadel to bring in the Reapers.
The Prothean VI also told them that Ilos managed to survive the last cycle and its Prothean scientists and researchers went into cryogenic stasis until the Reapers went back to darkspace. The remaining researchers discovered that the Keepers would activate the Citadel each cycle, so the Prothean scientists soon found a way to disrupt the Keepers so they would not send the signal. This meant that the Reapers were trapped in dark space.
But Sovereign was likely left behind as some sort of failsafe, and it was gathering allies so it could re-take control of the Citadel and bring back the Reapers. The Prothean VI gave Ahmed a data file that would counteract Saren's plan to use the Citadel to bring back the Reapers.
11. Ahmed got back into the Mako and drove to the Conduit, which was actually a mini Mass Relay that led right to the Citadel. They took it just before the Geth surrounding it shut it down.
12. The Mako crashed-landed on the Citadel. Ahmed talked to Avina and determined that Saren was entering the Council chambers. Ahmed took the elevator up to catch him, but Saren shut it down.
13. Ahmed walked outside to get to the Citadel chambers, then confronted Saren. Saren had been upgraded by Sovereign. Saren was tougher than he was back on Virmire, but eventually Ahmed killed him.
14. Ahmed used the data file and it worked. He had control of the station again. Ahmed heard the Destiny Ascension had the council on board and that it was under heavy attacked. Joker also called in, letting him know that the Alliance fleet was coming in. Joker wanted to know whether to save the Destiny Ascension or wait until they could attack Sovereign.
15. Liara argued that they should sacrifice the council for the greater good. Kaidan said they should save the Destiny Ascension. Ahmed told him to concentrate on Sovereign. The Destiny Ascension was destroyed, along with the council on board. Ahmed got the Citadel arms to open and the fleet attacked Sovereing.
16. Sovereign managed to take control of Saren's lifeless body through its implants and it attacked Ahmed so it could retake control of the Station. But with three Lifts, two Warps, and Two Overloads, Robo-Saren never stood a chance.
17. The Alliance Fleet destroyed Sovereign. Some of the pieces crashed into the council chambers, but Ahmed and his team survived.
18. Udina informed Anderson and Ahmed that since the council was dead, he was going to install a human-led council. Ahmed told him he thought Anderson was the best choice to lead it since they would need a military leader to deal with the Reaper threat.
In this playthrough, I used the Mako to kill a lot of things (-50% XP per Mako kill), and never unlocked the Paragon or Renegade-exclusive mission since I was a Renegon/Paragade (I think a slight edge to Renegon by the end). I ended ended at level 56. The highest level you can get in one playthrough is level 58, so in future playhroughs I probably will relax a bit and use the Mako a lot more.

Melody Shepard, Colonist/Sole Survivor/Infiltrator, ME3 Insanity: Having been recovered from Not!Melody's evil clutches, the Normandy needed a few hours' prep time before it would be ready to depart on the next mission. Melody had received a complimentary competitor' pass for the Armax Arsenal Arena, so invited James, Kaidan and Tali to join her for some matches. Although uncomfortable about reducing the galactic war to a spectator sport, she wasn't about to let the opportunity for some risk-free training go to waste. The party found the Arena fairly quiet, with few spectators and only a handful lacklustre competitors. However, interest soon increased when the Normandy team started playing and winning. In order to make the training more challenging than real-world conditions, Melody set the simulator to enhance the enemies' shields as soon as she was able. The crowds went wild as the heroes broke the scoreboard's limit in a simulated battle against the Reapers. Video spam: Melody's first arena match. Because I hadn't played for a couple of weeks, this was a nice warmup battle involving some toasters and a CLAYMOAR.
An infiltrator packing an Indra trivializes elite Reapers. No skill at all, just an OP DLC gun.
Prime Evil is one of my favourite maps, it's nice and big, with ample cover and right-hand advantage spots.
The first wave is a mess, I really should have relocated away from the spawn. This match was intended to be practice at using the Venom shotgun against Phantoms, but it ended up being easier to snipe them from a distance.

Ahmed Shepard: 1. Months after he beat Saren and Sovereign was destroyed, Ahmed Shepard hunted down the remaining pockets of Geth. The Alliance hoped that they would be able to obtain more information about the Reapers from the Geth, but so far no additional information was gathered. At least the number of Geth attacks had dropped significantly.
2. The Normandy was attacked by an unidentified vessel. Several Alliance soldiers died, but many were able to escape. Ahmed Shepard was spaced saving Joker, but he died due to exposure since his hardsuit was punctured.
3. Shepard woke up to bright lights and the sounds of people talking. Something beeped loudly. He tried to get up, but could barely move. A woman held him down and something was injected into his body. He fell back asleep.
4. He woke up again to the sound of gunfire, explosion, and screams. He hurt all over. A woman named Miranda started giving him orders. He found his armor in a locker as well as a pistol. He followed the woman's orders and made his way through the facility, destroying some hostile mechs along the way.
5. Eventually he ran into a guy named Jacob. He helped Jacob take down some more mechs, then Jacob told him they were on Lazarus Station. Then another guy named Wilson called on the radio asking for help. They found Wilson injured in another room. Shepard applied some medi-gel to the Wilson's leg to get him up and moving. Then Jacob told Ahmed that they were part of Cerberus. Ahmed was not happy to find out they worked for Cerberus, but he was also intrigued.
6. They fought some more mechs, and finally made it to the shuttle bay where Miranda appeared and killed Wilson. She said Wilson was the person that betrayed them all. Ahmed decided to trust that she was right, mainly because he did not know (or care) how to prove or disprove the accusation.
7. Miranda told Ahmed that she was in charge of the Lazarus project, a project designed to bring Shepard back from the dead. Ahmed did not believe he was really dead, but a some of the project files he had seen sure painted a grim picture. He decided it was best that he not think about it. He hoped it was just medical speak for 'really bad coma'.
8. While Miranda and Jacob took him in a shuttle to see The Illusive Man, they asked him about Akuze and Virmire. Then they told him that Udina was now humanity's representative on the Citadel Council. Ahmed was a little miffed that they did not choose Anderson like he suggested earlier, but he figured Udina was better known in political circles so it was probably for the best.
9. They landed at an unknown station and Miranda told Ahmed to go talk to the Illusive Man.
And then my controller batteries died, and my second controller did not work. I thought the batteries in my second controller had been recharged, but either I forgot to charge them or they are completely dead.
