I've been away for a while, but when I came back I needed to play ME. I decided to go for M3, importing the male Shep that romanced Jack. Now my ME3 memory is fuzzy, so I don't have a plan in mind as to what to do first, since I dont know which mission gives what. I only know that Jack is teaching somewhere and I guess I will find my pal Garrus on Palaven. I got a message from Hacket that Cerberus has been up to no good on Eden Prime, so I decided to go there after the Mars/Citadel intro. I was surprised to find a fullgrown Prothean there (surprised as in I did't remember that I had that particular DLC). For now my plan is to keep doing side missions until there is none left, then do the priorities (unless I can go visit my girl, than that will go first. I have to say I have to get used to ME3, I love the looks, and the combat is good, but the wartable is confusing, I don't do multiplayer, so I guess the map will stay at 50%? I also need a plan to scan all the systems without alerting to many reapers to my presence, but I guess that is what internet is for .

Go here: n7hq.masseffect.com/galaxy_at_war/Log in, do "missions" and watch your galactic readiness go up! Missions consist of clicking on a location, waiting (1, 3 or 5 hours), and then clicking again to complete the mission. As for Reapers, there's really no way around alerting them unless you look at online maps to find the exact right spot to scan.

The cycle must continue, so I started a new Shepard After my previous run, I can't stay away from the trilogy. I'm supposed to replay MEA, but what can you do... My goal was to make a Shepard who would look even a little bit like the default Shep in ME3, but it was a doomed attempt, unfortunately. [...] Doesn't really resemble ME3 femshep at all, but at least she ended up looking rather different than what my Shepards usually do in ME1. It'll never be possible to make a custom femshep who is very close to the default ME3 one, just as it isn't possible to make a custom broshep who looks like Sheploo. Your attempt isn't half bad, though. I can see the resemblance.

Here's her with Shaira, wearing armor with a ridiculous color scheme White and orange, that's even worse than Ashley's default armor. Anyway, haven't yet gotten very far in the story. I'm trying to be more completionist and do more sidequests this time, because it seems to be that the more I do sidequests and put my mind into any given game, the more I seem to enjoy it. This was the case with DA2, ME2 and ME3, so maybe this will make me appreciate ME1 more as well. If you decide to make the rachni sidequest after Noveria, take Wrex with you when you are tasked to find a particular ship. As for the armor, it's funny. I always scoffed this version of Liberator armor, but i like the heavy version. When using light or medium I like the Explorer version. Never liked the Bruce Lee/Kill Bill yellow one though. Funny how we don't pay attention to some details in the game. My Shep is with Traynor in this game and I finished the mission at Horizon. The concentration camp base Cerberus build to study indocrination. Only now I realize: Traynor's mom and dad are probably dead or have being turned into husks.

My eyes fly over the written words like in trance, memories flooding back into my mind. Those were times of hardship. Dealing with the loss of my family, my best friend and first love. Grieving for two years. Depression, alcohol, red sand. Finally getting my shit together and enlisting with the Alliance, just like he and I had promised. Always giving it all, pushing on and on, surviving a thresher maw attack during a recon mission, and my training to become an N7 throughout these years... I remember crying when I made it, not being able to share it with the person whose idea it was to join the Alliance in the first place. Well, not the real person anyway. But I'm not that sad young man from back then anymore. In a twisted way, I can appreciate that it led me to my current life. I put down letter after letter, reliving all these chapters in my life that left an impact on me, that shaped me into the person I became. It's like hopping into a time machine. I pick up the letter that marks the start of the most incredible journey of all. A journey of life and death, loss and love, tears, joy, succsesses and setbacks... and ultimately victory. The journey that was responsible for how I ended up here, in this lovely house with my husband and two kids. It was 13 years after I had lost my family and Alec, and time had healed most of my wounds. I had just recently been assigned to the SSV Normandy as Anderson's XO and had gotten to know the crew a little better, when we were about to start what looked like an easy mission. Little did I know back then what life would hold for me from there on out... "Hey Alec, you won't believe what just happened. The shakedown run we were supposed to do turned into the biggest mess. I met up with Captain Anderson and Nihlus, when they told me that I was to secure a Prothean beacon a research team had dug out on Eden Prime. And that Nihlus was to monitor me as a possible candidate for the Spectres. I couldn't believe this was about to happen, that they had even considered me as a Spectre candidate! And then it actually didn't happen at all. Joker forwarded a transmission from Eden Prime, soldiers under attack of an unknown enemy. The vid showed a giant alien ship, I've never seen anything like it. Alenko, Jenkins and I got ready and touched down on Eden Prime. Nihlus too, but we split up. Man, seeing what had happened to the colony, it sure brought back some memories. The smell of burned flesh and bodies everywhere... just like back then. And when we weren't even 10 minutes in, we lost Jenkins to some hostile drones. Such a shame. I liked him. He was hot-headed and eager for some action, which always reminded me of a certain someone, but he was a good soldier. The drones that killed him were of geth origin, as we quickly found out. Can you imagine? Geth outside the Veil?! We fought off a few of them to help a soldier they were attacking, Ashley Williams. She was from the unit I saw in the vid, but no one else had survived. And it just got messier as we went along. The Prothean beacon had been moved, and when we headed further in towards the research camp, we stumbled upon some of the researchers... they were impaled on spikes. They were still alive, but definitely not human anymore and came after us. After we killed them I knelt down to take a closer look at them. They were all integrated with some strange tech I haven't seen before. They looked terrifying. At least we found some of the other researchers still alive. Then we pushed on to the spaceport, and we saw this giant ship from the vid leaving. It was really, really huge. In this area there were more of the geth and these creatures, and we found Nihlus. Shot in the back. A dock worker that had hidden behind crates saw everything and told us what happened. Another turian shot Nihlus. Nihlus had called him Saren and they seemed to know each other. The worker told us that Saren was interested in the beacon, and had it moved. This mission couldn't have gotten worse, but of course it did. We headed towards the other side of the spaceport to find the beacon, only to find out that the whole place had been rigged with explosives. I could disable them all, and we finally found the beacon. Williams went to take a closer look, and suddenly the beacon reacted to her, drawing her closer. I jumped in and pushed her away from it, but then I couldn't move anymore. I don't really know what happened, but I was raised into the air, and I saw random images... a vision of sorts, just that it didn't make any sense to me at all. I passed out. Took 15 hours to get back on my feet, but I'm okay. But the mission was a failure, as I was told the beacon got destroyed after I accessed it. Now we're headed for the Citadel to explain what happened to the Council. And maybe we can do something about this Saren. Anderson told me he is a Spectre, too. This is some really weird shit, man... I wish my first time on the Citadel would be more pleasant, but I'm excited to finally go there at all. And no worries, I'll tell you everything about it. -Dee" Pics: Using the Sniper Rifle early on was more fun than I had expected. I only have a crappy 5% Accuracy upgrade so far, so it's not that great with aiming. But I was patient and it was quite neat up until now. And noooow it's Citadel time, I look really forward to it every time

After making my usual round after completing a mission, I set out to Palaven's moon to pick up a Turian Primarch. Found my good friend Garrus there too, and he joined me on my mission. Back on the Normandy Traynor had news about Grissom academy, she thought Cerberus was using a fake Turian signal to keep others from rescuing the kids. So I made it my priority to go there. I was surprised when I saw Jack there, who first punched me for leaving her, then kissed me (I guess not all is lost). While aboard the shuttle that we 'borrowed' from Cerberus to exit the facility I made it clear to Jack that I had not stopped thinking about her, and by kissing her. On the mouth. In front of her students, who were cheering her (or me) on. I went looking for her after boarding the Normandy, but apparantly she already left. I figured she went to Citadel, so after some exploring and scanning for war assets (and close calls with reapers) I set course for Citadel, figuring I find her there. I met Thane in the hospital while visiting Ashley, I was good to see him. I talked to Ashley, who seems more or less over the Cerberus thing. I hope she recovers soon, and will join me on the Normandy. I went looking for Jack in Purgatory, but she wasn't there, Aria was however, and she said she'll help me if I help her take command of the mercenary groups from Omega(blue suns, bloodpack and um.. the other one). Dissapointed I couldn't find Jack, I decided to go for another Jack (Daniels this time) and get some sleep. I'll continue my mission tomorrow. Still have to tell you about how EDI has a body now, and how Joker appreciates it ...

Jeph Shepard: - With the number of geth I'm encountering on Ilos, I really hope my next mission is to destroy them. I think there's plenty of evidence that the geth are every bit as terrible as the Reapers. Given time, I'm sure they could upgrade themselves to that level. - Oh, look. More crappy Prothean tech. At least this hologram didn't put me in a coma. - Learned nothing useful, other than that the Protheans decided the Reapers were unbeatable. Useless. Then we saw long corridors full of stasis pods, all inert, meaning the Protheans inside were dead. Creepy. Then we ran into a barrier that we thought might be a trap. Investigation found a Prothean VI. It told us the true purpose of the Conduit was that it was a backdoor to the Citadel, created by Prothean scientists. The Keepers were servants of the Reapers who were meant to open the Citadel arms and allow the Reapers to come in from dark space, just as they had done during the Prothean era. The Protheans changed them so they would not obey the Reapers, taking a one-way trip through the Conduit, where they eventually starved to death. The thing was, what they did was to help stop the Reapers in a FUTURE CYCLE, our cycle, and we were damn well going to honor their sacrifice. The Protheans just rose up immensely in my eyes. The VI also gave me a data file I could use to temporarily seize control of the Citadel. I could keep Sovereign out. - Liara would have loved this place but the fact is that she's a scientist not a fighter. And we couldn't afford to waste time having her poke around when we had so little time. The Conduit itself was a mini mass relay. I had a strong suspicion of where it led and if I was right it meant that of every damn biotic (myself included) who walked past that "art" on the Presidium, only Kaidan Alenko sensed something off with it. - The Mako is tough but even it couldn't survive being shot through a mass relay. Fortunately, it kept Kaidan, Garrus and I safe inside. The Citadel was a mess. There were husks waiting for us. - Found Saren at the master control panel. We fought. He died. I uploaded that data file and took control. Then I had to make a choice. Save the Council and 10,000 others aboard the Destiny Ascension or focus on Sovereign. Thing was, Vigil pointed out how the government was destroyed in past cycles right off. As much as I though these three were a bunch of pompous assholes, they still looked out for the greater good. Losing all of them would be difficult, especially given that the Reapers would likely still be coming, just not immediately. No, we had to save them, show the galaxy what humanity could do. A lot of marines died on Torfan and the same was, unfortunately, going to happen here. - I sent Kaidan and Garrus to make sure Saren was dead. A shot to the head verified it. Unfortunately, all the upgrades Sovereign had done to him gave the Reaper complete control. When we beat him, the body disintegrated, apparently taking Sovereign's mind with it. The ship itself lost all power and was decimated by the fleet. - The hard work paid off. Despite the turian councilor previously accusing me of only looking out for human interests, I'd proven I wanted everyone in the galaxy safe. The Council decided to offer humanity a seat, the first since the turians 1200 years ago. Pretty damn amazing since we'd never even encountered an alien race until 26 years ago. Even better, they gave great weight to my pick for who would sit on the Council. Udina was delusional and thought I'd pick him, despite him stabbing me in the back and almost causing the destruction of civilization. No, I picked Anderson. I trusted him as my captain and I would trust him on the Council. Needed some balance to all the political bullshit. Even the Council agreed. Then I said their was work to be done because the Reapers were coming and I intended to be ready for them. - The Council gave me what I "asked" for: they sent me to kill off the geth. As happy as I was to see these machines destroyed, I couldn't help but think it was a distraction from my real mission, which was preparing for the arrival of the Reapers. But it wasn't terrible. Had Kaidan with me and no one was questioning much why he was bunking with me. - Then we came under fire by a ship of unknown origin. It cut right through the shields, tearing the Normandy apart. I ordered us to abandon ship. Everyone but Joker agreed and I had to haul his ass into an escape pod. Thing was, I didn't make it in myself and my suit was ruptured. Nothing worse than grasping for air in the void of space. I suppose you're wondering how it is that I'm writing this when I clearly died in space? Wait and see.

Jeph Shepard:
- I died in space. I mean, I had to have. All the emergency pods had been fired and I wasn't on any of them. The alien ship took a second shot at the Normandy and shrapnel punctured my suit. I distinctly remember a world of pain before everything went black. Then, for a moment, I remember voices and more point. Finally, some chick named Miranda was yelling at me over an intercom to get up because some mechs were attacking whatever hospital I was in. She directed me to my N7 armor and a pistol. Then I followed the yellow brick road to the sound of Miranda's voice. I had no idea where I was and didn't recognize the logo plastered all over everything in sight, including the clothing of the dead scattered all over the floors. Not on the attacking mechs, though, which seemed to clear the space hospital. (The view suggested I was aboard a space station.) - Saw little signs of life, or if so, it was quickly extinguished by the mechs. I could help but wonder if this was a Reaper plot, activating mechs to do their bidding, maybe asking them to exterminate organics in exchange for a boost to AI. Or just a virus. I suppose it could be that. - Logs talked of neurological activity (mine?) and four billion credits. Wherever I was, a shit ton of money had been dropped to make it all happen. Whatever "it" turned out to be. - Found some dude who was asking me what I was doing there. WTF, dude! Then he's like, oh, right, you just woke up out of a two year coma after having been DEAD. He wouldn't tell me where I was but said it wasn't an Alliance facility. Four billion credits says no shit. [to be continued]

Jeph Shepard: - Some dude named Wilson asked for help. He was surprised to hear I was alive. A little too surprised. When we got to him, his flesh wound in the leg gave the appearance of danger, but...something didn't add up. He accused Miranda of being a traitor but all I knew was that, prior to losing our connection, she was trying to save my life. The fact that he tried to affect security controls - outside of his clearance since he was a doctor - said he was up to something. The fact was that the location of his wound was suspect. Over the barrier and down. Odd angle for a mech to make. It would have gone for the head or chest, and a miss would have been to the arm. Awkward places to shoot oneself. - Then Jacob dropped the bomb. This place was the Lazarus Project - dedicated to reviving one person only, which was myself. Four billion credits on just me. But the thing was it was part of Cerberus. Here's what I remember of them: force Alliance black ops gone rogue, they killed (via thresher maw) a company of marines on Akuze, injected thresher maw venom into Corporal Toombs, experimented with rachni, husks and Thorian creepers, and murdered Admiral Kahoku. There wasn't a single thing about them - from blacks ops down - that I liked. I suddenly felt less bad about all the dead people around me. Also found it obnoxious that a secret terrorist organization created a brand logo to slap all over everything. - We made our way to the shuttle. Wilson was the one who opened the door and was very surprised to find a sexy woman in a catsuit standing before him. It was Miranda. She shot him dead. No skin off my ass either way since they were Cerberus, but he was sketchy even within that context. - First meeting with my new Corporate Overlord, who I will henceforth refer to as "TIM" (The Illusive Man). - I was brought back because TIM believed in the Reaper threat. He also said over the past two years that human colonies have been going missing and he believed someone working for the Reapers was behind it. I suppose I could get behind that, though ideally I'd prefer to go back to the Council. Not that I held any great love for them, but Anderson was one of them now so it might not be so bad. - To convince me of the threat, TIM sent me to Freedom's Progress with Miranda and Jacob. It was empty, like the people had just vanished, even in the middle of meals. Then we opened up one door and found a group of quarians, Tali among them. I knew I wanted to work with her. She'd been a decent ally in the past. The quarians seemed to know the Cerberus logo and had no trust for anyone wearing it. - We teamed up to track down Veetor, a quarian who had been here on pilgrimage. He'd set a heavy mech to attack anyone who came near him and the other quarians who decided to run ahead to prevent us from getting to him, paid the price for it. We took care of the mech itself. - When we talked to Veetor, he was looking at video of strange aliens hauling out humans in pods. Miranda identified them as Collectors. Veetor was babbling and Miranda wanted to take him back to Cerberus. I could imagine how this was all kinds of a bad idea and Tali, who just came in as Miranda was suggesting it, said it shouldn't happen. There was one person in the room I trusted and her idea to take omni-tool data the Veetor had collected covered the bases. We had video and this data. Veetor not required. Tried to get Tali to come with us. Said she was on an important mission of her own but maybe after. - Back at Lazarus, I gave my report and said I needed a team, specifically my old team. Garrus had disappeared, Kaidan had been promoted and his file was classified, Wrex had been on Tuchanka(!) for the past year, Tali couldn't and he thought Liara was working for the Shadow Broker. Then he gave me a new list, including a salarian doctor he thought might be able to help find a defense against the Collector seeker swarms that paralyzed people before abduction. Definitely important. Finally, he brought in Joker. No idea how he could have lured him to Cerberus because Joker was aware of everything I'd seen while we worked together. He'd been grounded after my "disappearance" and the rest of the team was broken up. Also, the Council started downplaying the Reaper threat, saying it was just the geth. Cerberus offered him a chance to fly again so he took it. It came with a new Normandy, bigger than the last one, and unfortunately full of Cerberus crew. Had an AI on board, which didn't please me. However, I was given a lot of latitude on how to do things, just as had been true of my Spectre activities.

I finished preparing Patch v1.1 for my Respawn mod (that alters almost all the combat in the game to be tougher, more strategic and to give each faction a theme). The patch makes it so the Collector Base decision (save or destroy) will affect the enemy spawn waves you fight on N7: Cerberus Labs, and that whether Garrus is dead or alive affects how Priority: Palaven plays out, with a couple of brand new waves of enemies. So what did I do today in ME? I play tested it over and over and over again. Not as much fun as you might think, but damn am I proud

"Alec... I'm a Spectre. The first human Spectre! I still can't believe this happened after the shit that went down on Eden Prime. But I'll tell you everything from the start. When we arrived at the Citadel, we first met with Ambassador Udina and then went to the Citadel Tower to present the Council our findings. They dismissed the dockworker's testimony about what had happened on Eden Prime, it wasn't enough evidence for them to find Saren guilty. Anderson mentioning my dream or vision or whatever it was didn't help either. We had nothing. But Kaidan had the idea to look for a turian named Garrus. We had bumped into him on our way to the Council and he told us he was the C-Sec officer that investigated Saren. Anderson suggested to get some information about him from Harkin, a former C-Sec officer and as it turned out, a real sleazeball. At least he could help us. We found Garrus in a med clinic, where a couple of thugs threatened the doctor there. We took care of them and questioned the doctor. She told us that those thugs worked for someone called Fist. She was to be killed so she couldn't tell Garrus that a quarian had come to her and asked about some guy called the Shadow Broker. She wanted to trade information with him in exchange for a place to hide. Dr. Michel knew Fist was an agent for the broker, so she put her in contact with him. But Fist had started to work for Saren, which is the interesting part. Dr. Michel mentioned how the information the quarian had had to do with geth, so it was time to pay this Fist guy a visit. Garrus joined my team and he also mentioned that a krogan called Wrex was onto Fist as well. I thought he might know something about Fist we could've used to our advantage, but all he said was that he'd kill him if he saw Fist. I welcomed Wrex into my team, but I went to see Fist with Alenko and Garrus. Couldn't just let him get killed, even though the guy was a total asshole. But at least he spilled the info we needed. He had set the quarian up and her life was in danger, so we hurried to save her. We arrived just in time, and in return for helping her she agreed to provide an audio file she had extracted from a geth that could convict Saren. We met with Udina and Anderson right away to listen to it. Saren's voice was there. As was another voice, but no one recognised her. What was also alarming was that the word "Reapers" fell. The quarian, Tali, said according to the information from the geth they were an advanced machine race that existed 50,000 years ago. They drove the Protheans to extinction and then vanished. And Saren wants to bring them back. I'm worried. We can't let this happen. Tali asked to join us and I agreed. I had wanted her to come with us anyway when we had the second meeting with the Council. And this time, the recording was all they needed to be convinced. Saren was stripped of his Spectre status and the asari councilor also recognised the other voice, Matriarch Benezia. They made me a Spectre so I'd have the freedom I needed to pursue Saren. I know it was a political move to go after Saren without risking war by sending a fleet after him outside Council Space (plus we have the Normandy and can pursue Saren quick and quietly), but still, it's a huge honour to have been appointed. Afterwards, Udina and Anderson made some preparations and I was free to check out the Citadel for a bit. You would definitely love it. It's an amazing place. It's huge. Busy. The view is spectacular. So far I've been to the Presidium and the wards. The Presidium is home of various embassies, a financial district and the Council, amongst other things. They have a stunning lake right in the middle of it and a lot of important people are there. The elite, so to speak. The wards are a bit more my style though. Markets, night clubs, you name it. I felt comfortable there. Might go out and have a drink next time. One thing was a bit strange though. People seemed to know who I am right away. I even have a fan. So weird. Definitely not used to something like that. But I also helped out a couple of those people, and it's nice to be able to do something like that. When I returned to the docking bay, Anderson and Udina already waited for me. Anderson stepped down as CO of the Normandy so I could have my own ship to pursue Saren. Now I'm sitting here in Anderson's cabin and it feels so wrong. The best I can do now is to find Saren soon. We know that he is looking for something called the Conduit, and we will try and find the daughter of Matriarch Benezia first, see if she knows anything about this and whether she can lead us to her mother. I'll keep you posted. -Dee" Pics: I reloaded the first chat with Ash because I was sure she would mention Shepard's past when picking the "Soldier's die" option, and she did! It was so fitting too, and actually quite sweet Yep, you will. Credit where credit's due Got you in my sights. 2nd Council meeting. I'm stupid, but it never really occured to me so far that Sha'ira's words about Shepard change depending on the picked backgrounds. I guess I always forgot what she said to my Sheps so far But yeah, some great stuff right there. Go make him proud, my boy! One death during the Assassin part, one when finding Tali. Seems Sabotage wasn't enough or somehow didn't hit the last remaining assassin and I was insta-killed But now I have Immunity, mahaha. Also put my first points into Sniper Rifles so I can use it more efficiently as soon as possible.

Jeph Shepard: (probably going to be very short because I should be asleep) - I checked out the ship. Leather seats were to Joker's liking. A pretty girl with a degree in psychology was stationed next to me. Two engineers were present who had left the Alliance due to the dismissal of my talk of Reapers after my death. Dr. Chakwas was on board. There was a chef. And then there was my cabin. It had a king-sized bed, a wall-sized aquarium (not stocked), a display for model ships (a hobby of mine), a stereo system and a leather couch. Most curious of all, a picture of Kaidan Alenko was on my desk. What did all this tell me? Cerberus was putting up a very polished front. It made me trust them even less. - Though it had been recommended I track down Professor Mordin Solus first, a message from Councilor Anderson caught my attention. He had heard I was back. (Tali?) He wanted to talk to me. That was my first priority. If I could convince the Council to put my old crew back together we could eject the Cerberus types and make this a Spectre assignment. However, a message from Hackett about the crash site of the SR1 made me think that recovering the dog tags of the dead and placing a memorial statue would help show I wasn't a traitor. - Headed to Alchera and it was difficult. I'm familiar with sacrifice. They don't call me the Butcher of Torfan for nothing. But this was something else. We were attacked by unknown parties and killed. No defenses, no chance to fight, just cut down. - Found a data pad of Pressly's. It was a journal, documenting his journey from anti-alien to his willingness to die for the ones I'd brought on board. Also found my old N7 helmet and it was not in great shape. [Found 8 dog tags but have to sleep.]

Been advancing the story of my new Amy Shepard in sporadic fits. She went to Noveria and managed to get to Benezia without killing everyone in the Rift station. I've never played the mission without Liara being there - I always used to recruit her first, but now I'm gonna leave it to the very last moment Shepard looking goofy with Ashley. She really doesn't smile all that often It's a serious business, saving the world... Being interviewed by Al-Jilani. Not even tempted to hit her. Epic view from the moon. The Rogue VI mission was horrible. The combat in ME1 is crazy hard, there's no cover and no evasive maneuvers and it's very hard to beat hordes of rocket drones coming at you And I'm only playing the game on Veteran. ME3 on Insanity was very doable, compared to that ME1 Veteran is a nightmare. At least I got my specialization class - I've never even realised there was such a thing! Never bothered to do the mission before, it seems. The sidequests in ME1 are pretty depressing in general... But the combat is challenging and I'll take whatever strips of lore I can get Also managed to find Ashley's pink-and-white armor Super epic screen from Bring Down the Sky DLC. On balance a very poor showing from BW, I would have never paid a single penny for this DLC, but luckily it was for free. The combat was, again, very challenging, and it was nice to see Batarians. And I got a suit of pretty sweet armor. Apart from the stuff shown in the screens, I've been engaging in some in-depth discussions with my squadmates. Ashley's a pain in the ass, but at least she is the type of a character which you really don't see all that often. She's original and well-rounded, but I'd hate her in real life I'm also slowly warming up to Kaidan, even though his voice always reminds me of Carth Onasi. I find it funny how he always manages to bring up his Canadian roots. I wonder how national identities work in ME era - obviously if you're Earthborn then you are from wherever you are, but even the Spacers and the Colonists, they can't have been out there for too long because the Prothean ruins were only discovered a few decades ago. So it would make sense that they would still have some ties to their home countries on Earth. Anyway, next I'm heading toward Feros.

Ahmed Shepard was invited to Pinnacle Station by Admiral Ahern. Ahmed went to the station and immediately ran into an asshole Turian named Vidinos. You would think two assholes would get along, but... Ahmed explained to Shepard that Pinnacle Station was a combat simulator so that soldiers could train in a safe environment. Ahmed decided to show the station just how badly a Spectre could kick all their asses. After destroying a scenario record, Shepard exited the simulator just in time to see Vidinos accuse a human named Bryant of cheating. Apparently Bryant beat Vidinos' record and Vidinos was convinced a human could not beat it without cheating. Ahmed bet him that he could set the high score in all scenarios and Vidinos agreed to give him one of his weapons if he did. *** LATER that day ***
Ahmed Shepard stepped out of the simulator, only to find Vidinos waiting for him.
"Good job human," Vidinos taunted. "But when I set the record, I didn't need squadmates backing me up. If that's the best the first human Spectre can do, I am unimpressed."
Ahmed Shepard was not amused.
"Talk crap to me again and I'll shove your own gun so far up your ass, you can clean the barrel when you brush your teeth!"
*** TEN MINUTES LATER ***
"Let me go Wrex so I can kick his ass!"
"Shepard!" Kaidan yelled, trying to get his commander's attention. "Calm down!"
Ahmed refused to calm down.
"I'll only break one of his legs, I promise!"
"You can't break legs if you don't have arms!" Vidinos spat back. Like Ahmed, Vidinos was also being held back by a Krogan and some other personal from the station.
Alerted by the disturbance, Admiral Ahern stepped into the room.
"What the hell is going on in here?"
"Shepard has anger issues," Tali said.
"That's enough! Both of you!" Ahern demanded, "If either of you causes a scene again, I will eject both your sorry asses off this station. Am I clear?"
"Can I shove a drive core up his ass first?" Shepard asked.
"AM I CLEAR?"
"You're clear," Shepard finally agreed. Ahern looked at Vidinos.
"Clear," the Turian agreed. He glared at Shepard.
Slowly, the mob let go of Shepard and Vidinos, waiting to see if they would eventually back down. Vidinos blink first.
"I have door to guard," he said, and he walked off.
"And I have gun to win," Shepard called back. Vidinos made no indication that he heard.
Shepard beat all the available scenarios and took Vidinos' sniper rifle. Ahmed cannot use a sniper rifle and does not really care. When asked why he chose the sniper rifle, he replied "I wanted sonething long to shove up his ass. Or down his throat." Ahmed then beat the other scenarios that became available. The Ahern offered a special mission. Ahmed got cocky and offered to beat it with the safeties turned off. Ahern offered to give Shepard some retirement property if he won. Ahmed won and got the property. Then he visited the property and used the terminal to buy some random gear. * * * I dropped the difficulty down to Normal so I could beat it quickly. I hit level 50 and bought a the HMWP X Pistol. All set to go for the final few missions: Bring Down the Sky, Virmire, Therum, then the end game.

After a very long time, I have concluded my second longplay of the trilogy in my six-part planned collection of runs of all the six classes (without switching between games).
Months ago (it feels like an eternity) I have used Helena Shepard, she was a female redhead vanguard/nemesis that romanced liara, rescued kaidan hung around a lot with Liara and Garrus in me1, Mordin and Kasumi in ME2 (these 2 made biotic charging very easy for her), and Liara and Javik in ME3. She used in order Singularity, Barrier and Flare as her bonus powers.
It was a very intense run. I completed the whole trilogy in just a few days -with 2 local holidays in close proximity helping a lot - devoting more time to the games than I would recommend towards a hobby. But what can I say? It did seem appropriate in order to get the feeling of playing intensely as a vanguard. I did chronicle some parts of her adventures on this board months ago.
Then I created a male shepard called Fernandes as the representative of the soldier class. I did not chronicle any of his feats on this board for reasons that will now become clear. He had no points to bonus powers in ME1, used mostly assault rifles, walked with tali and ashley in the early chapters and later with ashley and wrex, and rescued his girlfriend ashley on virmire. One funny aspect of pairing either ashley or Garrus with Wrex is that both of them will seem softer than they usually are whenever there is a dilemma. I wanted a cuter, more sympathetic version of Ashley, one that would advise against destroying the rachni (one advise I followed), and that would urge me to save the council (which I did too), and pairing her with Wrex provided me with that. My last 3 runs of the trilogy all involved Kaidan being the survivor, so this one was kinda of my way of getting back to Ash and trying to have the best possible version of her, since after all she was going to be the romanced character.
In ME2, Fernandes had armor piercing ammo as his bonus, even though there was no point invested on it once I reseted all of my powers. Incendiary is so much better. As soon as i got the ship I wasted no time in recruiting Zaed and Grunt, and paired with them for the remainder of the game aside from loyalty missions (zaed would come along most of the time). And no, despite the company Fernandes likes to keep, he is a paragon.
In ME3 it was the human with assault rifles pride parade. Vega and the return of Ashley, with Fernandes loyal to her for the whole trilogy. I used carnage as a bonus power, with devastating effects. brutes, banshees and even harvesters can easily die if you use weapons like mattock or the M7 AR after hitting carnage. I equipped the M7 with the stability item as well as the ammo expansor. The fact that I was using incendiary ammo made things even more devastating. The only mission in which I was not just using a single weapon (always the AR) was against the rachni, when I also took an smg in order to destroy webs and eggs.
I know that it's the oldest trick on the book, but using just one weapon and firing concussive shot twice with incendiary is very effective. Even though to this day it strikes me as strange to see the same power being used twice by the same character in order to trigger an explosion (yes, the very same power as primer and detonator).
So why none of it got reported and I am only doing a digest version of it after concluding it? Because even though it was explosive and intense, at the same time I could not help but thinking it was also dull, boring, repetitive. The same strategies, over and over again. You see, the soldier class characters, they like to shoot. They are good at it, and nothing else. So they shoot. A lot. And they shoot, and then they shoot some more. And that's it.
Yes, I know, I could have used a biotic power or some tech power in order to shake things a little, but I have this self-imposed blockade in my mind in trying to avoid things like biotic-derived powers in characters who are not biotic-oriented. Engineers and Infiltrators with dominate are an exception because they are way too fun.
Besides, my intention was to get the feeling of each class, and I think I did it so far.
It's strange how my perspective changed. When I first played ME1 and 2, Soldier did seem great. I used to love the class. But now, after so many runs with different characters, while I still regard soldiers as resistant, strong and powerful, they also seem limited in scope and strategy. It is official: What used to be my favorite class (in ME1) is my least favorite class in ME3. Yes, they do have access to powers like adrenaline rush and concussive shot, but it's just another way of shooting with the gun. Instead of rejecting this notion and trying to mitigate it with another power, I decided instead to totally embrace it with carnage and shoot with more intensity than ever.
Based on statistics revealed by the developers, I do know that Soldier class is the most played one. I wonder how many people only played it once and using this class, without ever experiencing the diversity the game offers. Same thing goes for having a run in which some crewmembers like mordin and tali perished and were replaced. Perhaps the most appealing aspect of this entire trilogy of games is precisely the diversity, the way you can combine elements and experience events in a different manner because this or that variable. I know, Soldier is the "ryu" class, the default character, the main most basic class and it could very well be the best starting place for a total newcomer. But you will lose a lot if you just stick with it. If you did complete your first run and plan to do another, I urge you to try a different class. You may be surprised on how things can change... and for the better. I know that andromeda took a lot of flack (most of it deservedly so), but one thing they may have done right - perhaps as a way to prevent this problem I just mentioned, of nearly all shepards being soldiers - is the fact that they will give you access to all kinds of powers and you can customize your class as if it was a route. You are not born in a single class, but your character works his/her way towards it. Or not, by becoming totally versatile.
But getting back on point: Oh yes, aside from weapons I did have a few grenades too. Almost forgot about them. Only had 3 points (the last ones) spent on them. Barely used them. Just used them against cerberus heavy mechs and on priority earth because it was the very end. Did not need them at all and mostly forgot they were even available.
Even though I totally dislike the destroy ending (Edi was my friend and I think you can tell that I do like the geth) I seriously considered picking it this time. I mean, one last shooting and going down with a bang with one more enormous explosion? What could be better and more fitting, right? But then I thought: Wait a second, the soldier can handle any gun. No weapon was beyond his ability to master it (smgs in me2 except of course) and the reapers are just that: Enormous weapons than can be controlled, which he is doing right about now. He is also looking over his friends from on high. Yes, it was sad that he could not be reunited with Ash, but if someone knew the nature, importance, value and necessity of sacrifice, it was definitely her. Now more than ever.

Ahmed Shepard went to pay a visit to Terra Nova, but was alarmed when sensors picked up an asteroid accelerating toward the planet. So he took Wrex and Kaidan and had Joker drop them off in the Mako on the asteroid to investigate. 1. Normandy scans indicated that three fusion torches were propelling the asteroid towards Terra Nova. He had to go shut them off. His radio also picked up a broadcast from a woman, but no indication as to where she was located. She told him to shut off the fusion torches. 2. Ahmed found a dead engineer, shot in the back of the head execution-style. That did not bode well. 3. At the first fusion torch, Ahmed found the source of the problem: Batarians. They attacked and he killed them all with no regrets. He shut off the first torch. The woman called again and identified herself as Kate Bowman. Ahmed promised he would stop the asteroid. 4. On the way back out, he ran into the head engineer, a man called Simon. Simon told him the second fusion torch was surrounded by blasting mines that needed to be shut off manually. Simon also asked him to find his three missing engineers. Ahmed told him to stay out of sight until he dealt with all the Batarians. 5. Ahmed found a second engineer, killed by an explosive device. 6. Ahmed carefully navigated his way through the mines to get to the override, while simultaneously dodging rocket fire from some Batarian goons. He shut off the mines, then killed the Batarians outside, and then killed the Batarians inside. 7. He turned off the second torch, but heard over the comm unit that the Batarians had found Kate. They tried to get her to tell them who was shutting off the torches, and when she did not talk, they killed someone. At first Ahmed thought they killed her, but one of the Batarians said "Get her out of here" so they must have shot someone else. 8. Ahmed dealt with the Batarians at the third torch, then shut it off. On the way back out he ran into another Batarian squad. The leader tried to talk his way out of it, but he was slaver and a terrorist and only seemed to regret that this operation was going wrong (instead of his entire life choices). Ahmed painted the floor with more Batarian blood, then searched the bodies and found a keycard to the main facility. 9. Ahmed found the third engineer, killed by sniper fire. 10. The main facility was also crawling with Dead Batarians Walking. Ahmed then turned them into just dead Batarians. Then the leader showed up, a guy named Balak. He told Ahmed this operation was retaliation for the humans taking over Batarian space. Ahmed didn't care. Balak then gave Ahmed a choice: let him go free and he would spare the hostages (including Kate), or fight him and let the hostages die. Ahmed mulled it over. 11. Ahmed chose to fight. 12. The fight was brutal, but eventually only a wounded Balak was left. Balak stood up, defiant. Ahmed put a bullet between his eyes. 13. Simon was conflicted at the outcome, and saddened to hear that his missing engineers were dead. He did offer Ahmed a reward, and took some Light Colossus armor from Simon.
Ahmed opened the door the storage closet, the place where the hostages had been kept. The acrid smell of smoke and burnt flesh hit him like a tank. The walls and bodies were charred black. Ahmed swallowed his own bile as he surveyed the blood and rendered flesh, along with various organs and bones. It was hideous.
He rubbed his face.
Did I make the right choice? he wondered. Did I let my anger get the best of me?
A scan of the bodies in the facility confirmed that the man likely shot in front of Kate was her own brother. And now she was dead too, because he chose to stand his ground and take down Balak. So much death. Only Simon was alive it seemed. Was it worth it.
Ahmed clenched a fist. It was worth it.
Kate was willing to let her brother die because it was more important that Shepard shut off the fusion torches. And Ahmed let the hostages die because it was more important that the terrorists not live to see another die when they could attack more innocent people.
Ahmed was certain he made the right choice.
He stepped out of the room, and let Kaidan and Wrex walk in. Wrex was hard to read, but Kaidan was saddened at the sight. To lighten the mood, Ahmed shut the door, trapping Wrex and Kaidan inside the room.

Ahmed Shepard went to Virmire to see what all the fuss was about.
1. Normandy scans showed some AA towers near the Salarian camp, so they had to drop down in the Mako far back so they could shut them off on foot. They ran into lots of Geth along the way. No wonder the message was unclear, the Geth were probably jamming it.
2. Ahmed took out all the Geth along the way and shut off the AA towers on the way to the camp.
3. At the camp, he met the leader of the Salarians, a Captain Kirrahe. He told them the large facility they were at was Saren's base of operations. Ahmed's ear picked up at that little tidbit of information. Kirrahe told them they would have to stay put until the Council sent the reinforcements they requested. Kirrahe was none-too-pleased however to learn that Shepard's crew was the reinforcements.
4. Another revelation: Saren seemed to have discovered a cure for the genophage. Kirrahe wanted it destroyed and Ahmed agreed. Wrex did not agree and stormed off.
5. Ahmed went to go talk to Wrex. Wrex wanted the cure for his people, but Ahmed argued that it was not a cure, but a weapon. Wrex got heated and pulled out his gun, forcing Ahmed to pull out his gun. For a brief, tense moment, it appeared the standoff would lead to gunfire. In a show of good faith (or stupidity), Ahmed lowered his weapon and asked if Wrex wanted the Krogan to be tools for Saren. Wrex thought about for what seemed way too long, then said "No. Were were tools for the Council once, and to thank us for wiping out the Rachni they neutered us all. I doubt Saren will be as generous." Then he lowered his weapon and agreed to help Shepard continue the mission.
To be continued at a later date...

Jeph Shepard: - I searched for the remainder of the dog tags and the perfect spot for the monument. Then I came upon the storage area and all the weapons and armor lockers. It made me think of Ash. She wasn't around when the SR-1 went down but I wanted her to be remembered. Then I got the hell off of that graveyard world, keeping my old N7 helmet as a memento of the past. I couriered the 20 dog tags to Hackett so he could pass them along to surviving family. Funny how he hasn't said a damn thing about me being with Cerberus, just continuing to give me random missions like he did after I'd become a Spectre. - When I got to the Citadel, Kasumi Goto was there in hiding. Cerberus had wanted her and, I learned, offered her help on a mission. She's a master thief. Not entirely sure what her role will be. Hacking alien technology and sneaking into places she shouldn't be? Let's hope she was worth the effort. She's not Cerberus so that's a plus in my book already. I think a thief isn't as bad as a terrorist. - Met with Anderson and the Council. As my engineers had said, the non-human Councilors had entirely dismissed the Reapers as real, believing Saren had been capable of sweet-talking the geth into serving him. Possibly among the most ridiculous things I'd ever heard in my life. Geth didn't deal in emotion so there would be no appeal from that perspective. Guess my reports from things I'd been told my Shiala, Benezia and the VI on Ilos were all meaningless. Never mind Sovereign itself, who was capable of destruction via a hologram and turning Saren's bones into a conduit for its power. No, that tech was beyond anything the geth could do. These guys are simply idiots. Anderson believed me. - The other side was me working with Cerberus. That was considered treason (and I wondered why my entire ship and crew weren't immediately seized). However, they agreed to reinstate my Spectre status if I agreed to restrict my investigations to the Terminus Systems. That gave the implication that they supported my mission but were not behind it. I'd tell anyone who asked that working with Cerberus was an undercover Spectre mission. As far as I'm concerned, this is still the greater part of my mission to take down Saren - only we've gone up a level to go after his bosses. The Council is as expected. What did piss me off was that Anderson refused me any information on Kaidan. I suspect he knew what was going on between us. Fuck them all. - Saw a quarian being accused of stealing from a volus. The C-Sec officer clearly distrusted her for racial reasons alone. I solved the problem. I admit to having a soft spot for quarians because of Tali but this was clearly an exercise in assholery. - Got myself discounts in every damn shop on the Citadel. I also got a space hamster and some fish for the giant fish tank in my cabin. Also, a couple of model ships, including one of the SR-1. - Interesting news items: My mother refused a promotion to rear admiral because she thought being a captain better honored my memory, Chairman Burns came through on reparations for those with L2 implants and the Turian Hierarchy was giving further reparations for the First Contact War because humanity saved their asses from Sovereign. - Never a bad time to go dancing. Miranda mentioned Chora's Den never reopened. Wrex would be sad about that. - That bitchy reporter came for me again. Her feeble attempts to disrespect the marines who'd given their lives to save the Citadel only made her look even worse than last time. Really wanted to slap her but I think smearing her works out better. - New stuff for my cabin!

From Sunday and today, sidequesting hard "Hey Alec, been a while. I've been quite busy lately and my team and I landed on a lot of different planets. Whenever we touch down on a new planet, I wish you could see it. They're marvelous, stunning. Each with their own beauty and unique characteristics. Space really is a wonder. I've seen quite some crazy things in this time too, like this abandoned camp of a survey team. We went into a nearby mine, and they all had been turned into these creatures we saw on Eden Prime, 'husks' we call them. We found some of those spikes in there, but there was no sign of geth activity. Kinda strange, but maybe the geth left a long time ago. In another system we found a ship drifting in space. No signs of activity, but it was rigged with explosives. We found logs and a male human kept alive by a machine. Turns out he was braindead and his girlfriend didn't want to let him go. She killed the crew for it. And us almost too, but we took her down in self-defense. Poor girl. She went really far for him... I turned off the machine, so now they can both rest in peace. Then we boarded another ship, this time with hostile biotics. They held a chairman hostage because they never got reparations for their L2 implants. Seems L2s have it rough. Some pretty nasty side effects from what I've heard. Alenko said he's an L2 as well and he 'only' gets headaches. Well, at least we could do something for those people now. We had to take down some biotics that attacked us once we entered, but when we made it to the chairman, I was able to negotiate with his captors. A request came in from Admiral Hackett soon after. An old Alliance espionage probe had turned up in the Voyager cluster. My team and I were sent in to locate, disable and recover it since it carried nuclear payloads. We went underground and found the bomb soon, but it was actually a trap. We were locked in and left to die with the bomb, no way out. Responsible for this whole thing was Elanos Haliat. Turns out he was the one who was behind the attack on Elysium I told you about a couple years back. Now this asshole wanted to kill the first human Spectre to gain some of his reputation back. Fortunately, everything worked out fine (I was never more thankful for my EOD training!). I disabled the bomb and we followed Haliat outside. You can imagine what happened to him and his men. In the Hydra system, we picked up a distress call of a downed med ship, which was a Geth trap actually. These geth are fickle. If they use distress calls to lure in people in even more places... I don't want to think about it. On a positive note, I helped out Wrex. We were on a planet called Tuntau and located a structure. When we went inside, Wrex told me he knows who runs this place. It was a pirate base, and it was pretty personal to him as they had his family armor. Wrex had planned to come here anyway, but now he had some backup. We fought hard to get it back. Wrex seems grateful and I think he starts to like me. It's pretty interesting to have a krogan on the team, he can really pack a punch! Then we landed on a planet with a slaver hideout. And get this. I found a log that the leader, an asari, is the sister of some ambassador on the Citadel. Pretty juicy, huh? I guess I need to let her know we killed her sister. I hate slavers with a passion, but damn... her sister... On another planet we found a distress beacon and dead Alliance soldiers. And a thresher maw surprised us there. Man, these things still haunt me. I will never forget what went down on Akuze. And here there was a beacon luring in those poor soldiers, just to die through this monster. I wonder how the beacon got there in the first place, but I guess that's a mystery that can't be solved. All I know is that I have to report to Admiral Kahoku on the Citadel that those were his men. Never easy to lose people like that. So... As you can imagine I still haven't found the matriarch's daughter. But we narrowed down her location and she must be in the last system of the Artemis Tau cluster we haven't been to yet. Wish me luck she's really there. -Dee" The Chairman Burns mission was great... First I die because someone warped me (don't have Damping yet), then I make it with 10 seconds left to the chairman, but because I'm stupid I forgot to check if my Charm score was high enough. Of course not, and of course there was only 1 point missing! So I did the whole mission again, and the third time was a charm! Also, I really need a decent Sniper Rifle soon

Jeph Shepard: - Landed on Bekenstein with Kasumi. We had to rob the asshole in charge, a guy named Donovan Hock. I'm using the equally pretentious name of Solomon Gunn, complete with a verifiable background. She wants to steal a graybox containing the memories of her dead lover, a man who had been killed by Hock. I guess if it came to killing Hock I wouldn't be upset about it. Of course, she was smuggling our weapons and armor in through a golden statue of Saren. She seemed to be equating Saren and Hock but they're not the same. Both criminals but one almost destroyed the galaxy. Strangely, Kasumi was turned away by Hock. He was obviously suspicious of her. - Party was host to the biggest assholes humanity had to offer. I overheard them talking about me, as well as Archangel. Sounded like he was in trouble so I was going to have to hightail it to Omega as soon as we left. I felt like a secret agent the way we were sneaking in, like some of the vids of Spectres on secret missions. It was fun. -Hmm...what's this? Prothean statue? Does kind of look like what I saw in my visions and on Ilos. - Looking at this, I feel like I'm in some strange alternate universe. - Got to admit, it was satisfying watching Hock's gunship explode into shrapnel. Hope I get to do something like that again. Kasumi wanted to keep the graybox and memories, despite the danger the information inside posed. I convinced her to let me destroy it for her, just as Keiji asked her to do. He knew she'd be trapped with those memories otherwise. - Picked up a merc named Zaeed Massani who had been hired by Cerberus to fight for me. He also wanted my help with something. I sent him along to the SR-2 while I went to Afterlife with Kasumi and Jacob. Technically, I needed Mordin Solus sooner but I wanted to make sure Archangel survived. So he became my priority. So we signed up as freelancers looking to help the gangs of Omega take him out. Sabotaged everything we could before heading over. Then turned on the other mercs once we got there. Once we got close, Archangel removed his helmet. Son of a bitch was none other than Garrus Vakarian! Well, that's one more of my allies accounted for, and this one hopefully coming with me. In the end, we defeated all three merc groups: Blood Pack, Blue Suns and Eclipse, as well as their leaders. Downside is that Garrus was seriously injured. We brought him aboard the Normandy for medical treatment. - Garrus was up and running almost immediately after surgery. He wasn't thrilled with the Cerberus alliance but he stuck with me, like I knew he would. Then he decided to calibrate our cannons. Weird.

I found myself with some (a LOT) of gametime during the weekend, so I decided to get a renegade FemShep PT started. Long story short, I completed ME1 over the weekend (plus monday). I did all the sidequests too (except 2 collections). I don't have any DLC for ME1, even though I remember playing the batarian thingy on the asteroid. Anyway, Playing renegade was hard, in the end I decided that I was renegade with baddies, paragon with friends, which felt more natural. I adviced Garrus to play loose with the C-Sec rules, made it clear to Kaiden that I wasn't romantically interested in him, had some fun with Liara (who wasn't up for round 2 ). I tried to keep as many people alive, so I can meet them in ME2, but I had Wrex with me when I visisted Fist, so he won't show up, but Helena Blake should be around. On Virmire I talked Wrex down, sacrificed Ash (first time for me) and saved Kirrahe. On Noveria I let the Rachni Queen live. I had heard that when you recruit Liara after Noveria you get to tell her her mom died, but I never got that. Romancing Liara was weird, I talked to her just a few times, she assumed I had a thing with Kaiden (whom I already told I wasn't romantically interested in him) and then she just shows up in my room on the trip to Ilos. During the final battle I let the council die (I 'lost' connection during a couple of debriefs already). All in all I have to say ME1 is still a good game. The graphics are OK, gameplay is good (I played on casual, don't need a challenge during battles) story line is brilliant. I imported my save in ME2, changed my class from soldier to tech and upped the difficulty to normal and finished the starting mission. I thinking to romance Thane or Garrus (never done either before) or should I stay faithful to Liara? I will keep playing as paragade (renegon?) ie be nice to friendlies/innocents and not so nice to criminals.

Yesterday I completed Virmire with Ahmed Shepard, and today Ahmed recruited Liara. I'll write up a more detailed post sometime later in the week, hopefully tomorrow.
