I hope you'll fight your way out! I was really surprised first time around that you could resolve the Q vs G peacefully. I thought it was either or deal. Was a nice feeling, eh? It was quite pleasant. Sided with the Geth and ended with Destroy on my first run, then realized how big the kill count was as the credits were rolling, that was an interesting feeling. But now I know how to game the system! Mwahaha. --- Today Carter managed to escape the monastery via questionable taste in music. Found a tactic that sort of works with Banshees. Charge, roll back, shoot, rinse and repeat. But pause for a moment and he's dead and it's useless if they got shooty friends. Carter also almost died when he tried to put hands on Samara, but that death was delayed until further notice. After that he did some side quests and saved a lovely girl named Ann from becoming a tasty smoothie. And met with his good friend Jacob, or well saw him, was too excited to get to the shooty bits they forgot to talk. Carter felt quite good about himself, then Thessia came and kicked him in the guts. Ouch. After handling the resulting drama Carter returned to the Citadel. There he did some more work with Ann, saved a Volus, returned bunch of junk he gathered from around the galaxy and met the first dwarf/giant in the series. Shouldn't have sniffed those fumes Carter... But when he returned to the Normandy, Hacketts men were there, armed to the teeth. "Take two days off or you're fired" they said. Carter would normally have refused or at least argued, but before he left the Normandy, both Hackett and Anderson had sent him vid mails telling him take some R&R, EDI had measured enough stress to kill a small pony, Joker had tried a career in therapy, Carter failed to nab the paragon act to comfort Liara and had already threatened bodily harm to at least two crew members if they wouldn't take time off. So he took one for the team and went to crash at Andersons apartment. Maybe watch a Blasto flick or perfect his skill at eating tiny desert cakes in one bite. Before that could happen he got a mail from Joker, asking to try and reconcile over a tasty pile of sushi. Then Citadel DLC happened and I hatehatehate stealth. But the rest was fun and watching Wrex and Carter bust out moves on the dance floor can heal many a sorrow. Now Carter is fighting a loosing battle with himself, since he can't get the tempo down for the fight. Maybe later he'll have better luck. Found tempo, now to search for sleep.

I took a few days away to play other games. Played FFVI, then remembered that de-cursing the Paladin shield is more than a little boring. Played FFV and I'm having fun with that. Decided to pick up Alex and do more post-coup stuff.
--Reminded Balak that he needs humanity in order for his race to survive. The Renegade option really works well against that guy. Sheploo seems rather placid about it though. Hale's voice acting is much better there imho.
--Jenna came to save Conrad yet again. I could tell that Jenna's VA is the same as Tali's. Jenna had a North American style accent in ME1 and Tali had some of the same accent. In ME3, Jenna has a distinct touch of Tali's accent in her words. I guess doing possibly hundreds of hours as Tali affected Jenna's voice.
--Managed to save that asshole Din Korlack and I'm still sore that I need a mod to actually talk to Zaeed for more than that repeating line about joining up with the mercs on Omega.
--Met Ashley at the Memorial Wall. Finally got Marksman unlocked. I thought it was a sweet moment. Alex took Ash's hands telling her it'll be okay. They stayed that way for a moment, then Ash broke it off like she wasn't sure what to think.
Speaking of Ash, I still like her but man...she never seems to shut up about Cerberus. I took her with me to rescue Jacob. It's obvious that those were good people that left the organization and she's still going "Can we trust them?"
--So I dragged her to the AY monastery. My thought was, "Look lady, Jacob there lead two Fire teams on a suicide mission while you were still doing a headcount on Horizon. Calm your shit down already. While you were stressing about whether or not I was brainwashed, this is the kinds of things I've been fighting. Now let's go in there and make the Asari owe us. C'mon."
--Talked to Jack, Liara, ect. Liara's conversation is a little amusing. "This reminds me of where I grew up." There's still smoke billowing in the background. I know that's a bug, but still. It kinda takes away from the sentiment. Well Liara, that's probably what that little park from your childhood is starting to look like by now...
--Warned Miranda about Kai Leng. I did like Sheploo's delivery of the lines better than FemShep there.
--Talked to Javik, took the renegade option when he was talking about being on the Citadel. "...Soak it up, Javik." I didn't like it. Javik said it sounded too dismissive and I agreed. I reloaded and reminded him that just being on the Citadel was a victory.
I have two bars in Renegade with max Paragon. <shrug> That's more Renegade than I thought I would have to be honest. I'm glad to have what I've got though.

I just finished playing the first Mass Effect for the first time. I found out it was backwards compatible for the Xbox One and I had just bought my own new used Xbox One and people have been bugging me to play the Mass Effect trilogy for quite a while now, so I bought the trilogy and played the first game... and then found out the other two games aren't backwards compatible. And I don't have a 360. -.- bleh. Sorry to hear that.

I finished my latest playthrough of ME2 today. I finished Tali's loyalty mission first and resolved the argument between her and Legion with paragon actions. I destroyed Geth heretics during Legion's loyalty mission. Before launching the suicide mission, I finished all the mission critical Normandy upgrades, amor, shield and cannon.
The suicide mission: I sent Tali into the vents with Garrus as fire team leader. I took Mordin and Miranda with me. After the team made past the vents, I sent Mordin to help Doctor Chakwas get back to the Normandy. Samara maintained the biotic shield on the long walk though the seeker swarms and I took Miranda and Legion with me. The second team leader was Garrus. The final battle team setup was the same as above. I left all the heavy hitters to hold the line with Garrus as team leader. The squad I took with me was Legion and Miranda. The squad arrived at the Reaper larva chamber and I decided to blow up the Collector base. In the end, both Shep's squad and the fire team suffered no casualties.
I don't have the Arrival DLC, so I will start ME3 later tonight or tomorrow.
This coming ME3 playthrough will be a Paragade playthrough. All the major decisions will be paragon with occasional renegades to spice up the things a little bit. I'll try to start another playthrough of the whole trilogy as soon as I finish ME3. I am planning to make this new trilogy playthrough less vanilla than the current one. The new upcoming Shepard will be my first femshep, Visenya Shepard.

I've been just clearing out sidequests before Noveria, and trying team comps. Those were not as entertaining as monkey planet, though I do love Protean pyramids. but I've gathered plenty of gear to make things a touch easier on myself. The couple quests still left are story-related, Wrex armor one, and the one on Sol System, Luna satellite. That's one thing I will miss in Andromeda, that occasional reference to close to "back on Earth"... though in ME3, I think there is too much of it... oh, well, looking forward to see what they would do to keep the connection if anything.
In mp, I am still playing my Vanguard, and enjoying it greatly. It's just an insane class design. I am hurt! I am dying! I have to... CHARGE! Curiously enough that's the class I see myself doing the best so far, though I know I am not protecting my teammates, though I think it must be possible on the class. But so far I am getting by with trying not to pull aggro till I am certain I can quickly kill the target. It does not feel like a tank class, more like a burst melee dps.

I bounce around a bit in my playing, so I'm currently back to Jeff Shepard, Adept in ME3:
- Talked to Tali in my cabin.
- Headed to the geth server on Rannoch to take it down. The Legion VI hooked me right into it. It was like some weird city. Ended up destroying it but it stopped a geth squadron's attack on the quarians. I have to admit that I feel some compassion for the geth at the start of the Morning War.
- Helped keep a fuel depot safe and running.
- Went to visit Dr. Bryson about a Reaper-killer referred to as the Leviathan of Dis. Before I could find out much his assistant Derek Hadley murdered him. He seemed not to know what he had done and EDI suggested indoctrination. Hadley's mind was then taken over before being shut down permanently. Evidence said that Bryson was tasked to find the Leviathan by Hackett and that Bryson's team was being shadowed by Reapers. After some research, EDI and I found a likely location for Garneu, one of Bryson's field agents.
- Landed on the asteroid Mahavid, site of T-GES Mineral Works. Encountered Reaper forces outside the doors. When I went inside, I felt like I was on the set of some horror movie. Their behavior suggests indoctrination, much like with Hadley.

I did get some playing done yesterday afternoon. Thanks to the internet going down for all of last night, I didn't play for long. It didn't come back up until about 6am after going down at 1am. It wasn't that I couldn't play. It's that my PS3 kept trying to connect and I couldn't stop it without messing with my internet settings.
So every 1-5 minutes I saw "Lost connection to access port" popping up on the top right corner of the TV. It isn't very big, but as I found out the hard way, it can screw with your line of sight at the wrong moments...
--I took Ashley with me to the Monastery. On a gameplay level, her and Liara worked out very well. I take Liara with me every time I go there for her reactions. On an RP level, I was left feeling like Alex didn't help improve Ash's feelings towards aliens. Granted, Ash is better than she was in ME1 but can still be pretty caustic about the matter.
--Grabbed Tali and got to the Geth Dreadnaught. I went with Team Dextro, since I felt that Overload was better than the grenades. Next time though, I'm going with Team Anti-Geth (Tali/Ash.) I still prefer the quarians reaction to Legion coming on board if you brought him/it along for Tali's loyalty mission. "Oh, it's your geth friend." Also, telling Xen to piss off is a favorite of mine.
--Talked to Samara. I thought about having Alex be a jerk towards her, but then I realized that Alex does truly find it an honor that Samara joined him. She is one of the few asari that Alex (and I) really like and respect.
--Saw Miranda in person. One of the things that I didn't care for with her ME3 story arc was that the writers brought up the chip again. Um, I thought that whole thing was pretty much resolved in ME2. <shrug> This is the same game where the VS continuously forgets that they had forgiven Shep for Cerberus. Sorry, I digress.
--For laughs, I went out Space Trucking in Argos Rho. Bare in mind, the net was down so I didn't have access to my maps. Cue me scanning the systems like a kid on a sugar buzz. I managed to find everything, but I had to go do the N7 fuel reactor quest first. It gave me a whole new appreciation for those that create maps and guides for the rest of us to use.
--Took care of the fuel reactor quest. Damn near died because a Brute was coming up as I was getting that net error message yet again. Then it happened yet again because it was distracting me and Shep almost got eaten by techno zombies Husks.
--Got that damned internet message from the PS3 for the last time. I was going to do some shopping at the Citadel, then it dawned on me that I was about to throw the controller. I had no internet but the cable was working. I turned off the game and watched Cake Wars.

Once you get the achievement for getting all the packets, there is no reason to ever get them again. It has been a long time since I ever picked them up. As far as I know, they have no bearing on ME3 so why bother? But if you feel compulsive to get them, by all means, go ahead.

I have started ME3 ealier this evening. I have all the ME3 DLCs installed except Citadel, the story line and general atmosphere don't match the rest of the game and I am not a fan. William Shepard will be using venom shotgun a lot, so killing Brutes and Adjutants will be a piece of cake.
William Shepard escaped Earth when Reaper forces began to their invasion and was sent to Mars to retrieve a blueprint for the Crucible. Shep, Ash and James found Cerberus troops on Mars and Ash immediately began to question Shep about him and Cerberus. Shep had to tell her to calm down. Liara was on Mars and she explained to the team about the Prothean device. After decimated waves after waves of Cerberus soldiers, Shep and the team arrived at the archive where the blueprint was stored, where Shep confronted The Illusive Man. The Cerberus bot took the blueprint and was chased to the roof. The bot's shuttle was took down by James and it wounded Ashley but ultimately disabled by Shep.
Shep talked to the Council and left for Menae to rescue Turian Primarch Fedorian. Turian commander General Corinthus informed Shep that Fedorian was dead. After restored the communication between Turian High Command and the moon, Shep was told that General Victus, was the new Primarch. Shep, James and Garrus set out to find and retrieve Victus while Liara went back to investigate a Normandy anomaly. The squad pushed through Reaper forces and retrieved Victus. Back on Normandy, Shep discovered that the ship malfunction was caused by EDI took over the Cerberus bot, and he also found out that Joker had a sick robosexual obsession. William Shep was a nice guy, so he didn't say anything.
I'll continue ME3 tomorrow and hopefully I will be able play a little bit more since tomorrow is Friday. I also have a few random thoughts on ME3. Even with all its faults, ME3 sill ranks high on my list of games I enjoy. I personally think the music of ME3 is far superior to ME2, and there are so many little things that helped to create a dark, pressing atmosphere of the struggle for survival. The conversations between the elderly lady and the embassy receptionist, the Turian soldier and his wife, the refugee girl and the C-SEC officer are just few examples of many things I enjoy about ME3.

Jeff Shepard:
- Catchphrase of the Day: "Turn back. You shouldn't be here." Yeah, I wonder if the Leviathan doesn't get it that this isn't convincing normal human behavior.
- What I thought was Garneau blew itself, the Leviathan artifact and a bunch of husks up. Kaidan found the real Garneau's body. He'd been dead for a while. Then the miners finally started behaving normally. It turned out they had been under the Leviathan's control for 10 years. They still thought it was 2176. They were all in for some big surprises.

So it resets the Achievements. Kind of a nice quirk to have... I originally played on 360. You can't reset achievements there (not that it's even necessary. I just sort of wanted to see what I could get in one run). Right now, I'm lacking any headway into the "Brawler" or the incinerate armor achievements. I don't think I'm going to complete the Suicide Mission with all members either.

After dealing with himself and meeting a few buddies on the Citadel, it was time for Carter to seek Sanctuary. It went surprisingly well. After making sure his sister-in-law was okay and having a moment with Miranda it was time to traumatize Javik, who in turn insinuated he'd eat Carters fish. Carter then presumably threatened to choke the bastard with his deluxe eel. And maybe then some biotic fisticuffs ensued, rocking the Normandy all night long... Liara will never recover from this. Anyways, things were tense, so Carter went to cool off by having drinks with Miranda and shooting stuff in the Armax Arena. Good times. Also saw Fleet and Flotilla with Tali. Finally he got a letter from Miranda to meet him at the bar, which he used as his carrot to survive the final part of Leviathan. Which also went surprisingly well. And despite being short, the underwater walk was sooo worth it. Jellyfish Ashley had a nice moment of "Please don't pull a Kaidan on me, you idiot" so Carter made it up to her by taking her out for drinks on the Citadel when they returned home. Then he met with Miranda and creepy smiles ensued. This one is kind of sweet I think. A bit creepy, but sweet. A few more meetings and it was time for a party! It was loud all the way, with lots of dancing. It was nice having Wrex and Grunt this time around. Spent way to much time watching the latter one in the shower. He truly was a pretty bird. The next morning gave some more creepy smiles and revealed that Carter likes to watch people sleep... After some eggs and asprin ( and feeling a bit guilty for the younger hang-over casualties) it was time to "Assault the Illusive Man". Once again, it went surprisingly well. Even if I learned that the Atlas has a kill grab like the banshees (so no bumping bodies with those) and turrets don't give a damn about barriers. Also I think Kai Leng survived this time. I saw him moving when Carter was leaving (but he was to busy trash talking the VI to notice). Finally it was time to "Assault the Earth" which went pretty badly. Carter refused to charge at things in plain sight, Marauderes laughed at his barriers and my pinky cramped up. So now Carter just has to stand in the middle of trenches until he learns how to Charge. (And until pinky recovers, since brain refuses to play otherwise.)

Natashina I'm sorry if you knew this already, but if you have trouble with your internet connection, you can just switch to offline mode with the PS3. I always play offline with ME3 because it checks the internet connection for MP and it takes fucking ages Also continued my ME1 run. Noveria happened over the last couple days. File#16 Subject: Noveria Mission Report - Went to Noveria to investigate reports of geth there. Arrived at and entered Port Hanshan with Lieutenant Kaidan Alenko and Gunnery Chief Ashley Williams. Received information that Matriarch Benezia had passed through and had gone to Peak 15, a Binary Helix facility. - Obtained a garage pass required for leaving the port from Administrator Anoleis, then helped Internal Affairs Agent Gianna Parasini, who had been working undercover as Anoleis's secretary, to incriminate the Administrator with previously discovered evidence. - Left Port Hanshan with Lieutenant Alenko and geth expert Tali'Zorah nar Rayya. Re-established the power upon arrival at Peak 15. - Arrived at Rift station via tram and gathered more information here from the employees. Tracked Matriarch Benezia down and learned that Saren is looking for the Mu Relay, which was lost several thousand years ago. Binary Helix had found an ancient rachni egg on a derelict ship and hatched it. The rachni turned out to be a queen, which had been used by Matriarch Benezia to extract the information on the location of the Mu Relay. Matriarch Benezia admitted to being indoctrinated. She broke free for a few moments and handed over the location of the Mu Relay. It is currently unknown where Saren plans to go from there. - The Matriarch and her commandos and geth were killed by me and my team in self-defense. The rachni queen was dissolved in an acid tank by me, as I did not trust it given its history. - Binary Helix had used the rachni queen to breed rachni for an army Saren wanted to create, but these exemplars were hostile and were purged by me before leaving Peak 15. Piiiics: Oh god, I SO enjoy this run. I burst out laughing a lot of times because being an ass can be really hilarious. I never would have thought this could be so enjoyable to me and I'm really glad I decided to spice things up a little Neva is such a two-faced bitch but I love to play her as it's very interesting. Died around 4 times overall, but it went exceptionally well in some other parts.

I wish you could play offline on PC. Not that I have been playing the OC, just caught a couple of MPs this morning from all times. I dunno if I am playing with Europe, Australia or folks are taking time off in the East..? Honestly, all I wanted was to build my drell Adept to look like Kolyat because reasons... but yeah, no problems picking a game. Me3 mp is spoiling me, because I am so used to being in a strange time zone and playing at weird times to boot in MMOs. So, usually it's like: do they play this title in Singapore or parts of Russia?
heh, fingers crossed I progress the campaign over the weekend. I like it, it's just MP is so addictive.

I'm about to start my very first vanguard playthrough in ME3 on my Xbox 360 I'll never sell for this very reason! VERY excited. I only played vanguard on multiplayer and enjoyed it immensely. Probably not going to be as cool in the SP (just like it's impossible to play a pull/reave badass in the SP the way I played the Drell Adept *sigh*) but I want to try. Also, I have yet to beat the game on Insanity. I need to get back into the groove first though, so I'll start on Hardcore.
This will be my fourth playthrough of ME3. Ok, technically my Liara/femShep romance is stuck in London. But that's ALMOST finished. ;P I'll do an alternate reality of my canon Kaidan femShep who cheated on him with Garrus (not sorry) and continue the Garrus romance this time. Yup, it's decided!

I wish you could play offline on PC. Not that I have been playing the OC, just caught a couple of MPs this morning from all times. You can. Not MP of course, but SP. Just put Origin in offline mode.

One last Carter smile before he signs off for good. I always felt a little bad for not trying to make the post a bit more interesting. So here is the final part of Carters journey in (attempted) fancy writing. Carter took a deep breath before starting his walk to his final destination. The fight at the cannons had been brutal, he felt like he had died a few times there already. But this was the final death. He was bleeding heavily, his vision was blurry and his muscles screamed for rest. He almost hadn't made it, Commander Shepard almost ended his journey by falling asleep at the finish line, bleeding to death. Now that would be one for the history books. But Hacketts nagging had put him back on his feet and in the air apparently. Now he wanted to curl up again, just give up and sleep. But he figured he wouldn't get much rest with the nagging VI at his side. And honestly, he wanted the quick death. It would be painful, but at least it would be over quickly.
Bang, bang, bang. Boom. The tube exploded. Before the hot burning liquid hit his face he could almost hear Anderson's voice in his ear. “You did good son”. Then Thane?! No Miranda, his reason for this route. Would he wake up to another such angel after he died? The thought didn't go much further. The pain was too much, as the goo burned the skin off his body. Roasted his meat, melted his bones. Well that was what he would have expected, but his body was kind and shut down his mind at the skin part. The world was on it's own again, he had herded them so far but now the sheep were loose, free to do as they pleased. His story was over.
In hindsight, maybe it was good I didn't try to write fancy in the other posts. Anywhos, picked destroy and if not for mods, Joker, Javik and Ashley would be responsible for repopulating the planet. Run Ashley! Run! But luckily for her, I had the alternative happy ending mod. So they found Carter (still would prefer it if he was dead and it just showed them retrieving the body) and all was well in the world. Then he and Miranda went off to make creepy babies who liked to watch people sleep. Yay. Also, 5 games in and I finally learn how to turn on dynamic lighting. Finally there are characters in the darker cutscenes, not just shadows with eyes and teeth.

Not sure where to ask this, so I'll put it here.
Michel gives Medigel capacity bonus and Chakwas Medigel efficiency, but I recall that if you do a new game plus, you'll be able to get both upgrades. I just forgot how it was done.
Do I recruit Michel the first playthrough and bump from 8 to 10 medigel... then on the second playthrough, I'll get Chakwas efficiency with 10 medigel?

I've never done it myself. Never had the need to do it. Since using Medi-gel/Unity in ME3 does not replenish your shields like it could in ME2, medi-gel is much less useful. With 3 medigel upgrades (total of 6 medigels) + medigel efficiency means you will rarely run out at all, unless you are activate medi-gel a lot (which may indicate a larger problem).

I finished recreating most of the (good/useful/visible) ME2 guides from the old BSN into the Game Mechanics and Character builds forum in these boards. Doubtful I can recreate all the good ME3 single player guides from the forums before the old BSN shuts down on October 25, but I'll give it a shot.
So I will not be playing any Mass Effect until the old BSN shuts down. Which is a bummer. Oh well.

This is maybe not the best place ... but it's not worth its own thread ...
For those playing ME3 on PC, for me, Win10 Anniversary update mucked something up, making the game unplayable.
Lots and lots of mucking around, but it boiled down to Origin In-Game being the problem. A secondary problem may be my Razer software, which has caused issues with Origin In-game in the past. For a while, I thought it was my Logitech mouse ... but the real issue is Origin In-game + Win10 Anniversary update + (maybe) Razer software.
So ... if your mouse is not working properly, disable Origin In-game and see if that fixes the problem. Could save a lot of other troubleshooting for you.
Edit add: With all the mucking around, I downloaded and installed the latest update to the expanded galaxy mod (EGM). There is a hot fix patch to go with it. Guys have done a really nice job with the update ... plus of course, their efforts creating the original mod. If you have not done so, try it out.

Yeah, I doubt I'll even use them all. It's just that I plan two playthroughs, so I might as well get this right.
